Seeing as she'd departed from the two very attractive men that had led her here, Chelsea was left to her own devices. She really had her chin up quite high about this whole academy. Would it just be filled with hot guys? Yes please. The next part was a blur for her- she'd never been very good at retaining information, and the lab tech blabbing on and on in a monotonous tone didn't make it any easier.

Chelsea hunched over as the lab tech departed, leaving her to descend down the stairs on her own. The tech wouldn't explain why she had to do it alone, nor why she wouldn't explain. Even if she asked others, it wouldn't matter- they all just rotated around the same answer- "it's different for everyone." What the ******** did that even mean? They weren't going to stick probes in her or something were they?

With a sigh, her hands went to her pockets, leaning over the railing shortly before marching grumpily down the steps. "Mondo creepy," she murmured, feeling along the walls for support. The pulse of the room seemed to quicken her own heartbeat, which thumped with both excitement and terror. Would there be some sort of boss battle? How kickass would it be to fight monsters in the belly of a cave with glowing runic s**t?

A solemn step onto the ground, and the walls reverberated in response. It was as though someone had been watching, waiting. A council set in stone to greet her upon the deepest part of the earth. The low thrum of anxiety leveled the room, touching each corner and crevice it could reach.

There hung a whisper in the air, beckoning her closer. Chel didn't hesitate, moving forward with almost alarming urgency. Though she would never admit it, Chel was nervous about this whole situation. It was cramped, stifling any thought she had beyond the whisper.

Ever the curious one, Chelsea reached a polished hand forward, fingers running down the grooves of the rocks, tracing the strange shapes and patterns. Surely this was some sort of ancient language. She'd have to decode it- which of course wouldn't happen because there'd just be a flash of light and it would suddenly all make sense. For being a simulation, this was pretty cool.

< I have been waiting for you. >

An illuminated kitchen came to mind. Two figures, disappointed.

Chel spun around, looking for the source of the voice. Of course, there was none. Perhaps a lab tech had joined her? That couldn't be it- after a look, there wasn't a soul on the stairs.

< You will play a role in a great destiny. >

There it was again! "Hello? Anybody home?" Chel called out, taking a few steps away from the wall. Was this her test? How did she pass a test like this?

< Please touch the wall once more. >

It sounded like a trap. Everyone knew you didn't listen to the omniscient voice. It always ended up guiding you on some long goose chase for an item that would end up useless later. Like the ability to withstand heat when there was only one volcano zone, or the ability to walk on walls- but only where there was a special marking to do so. So it was probably a trap.

< I highly suggest you touch the wall, it is not a trap. >

Chel squinted at the wall once more. "Whatever dude," she grumbled, turning back to the stone tablets. Though she couldn't put her finger on the feeling, it was like they were calling to her. Well, one literally was calling verbally, but it was more than that. A push from the very walls around her, a soft pulse that was urging her to follow the voices command.

There were a lot of colors on the wall. All of them depicted tiny weapons in a rainbow before her eyes. There were lances, swords, guns, chains ...

A pink bow stood out to her. Without a thought in her mind, she pressed the pads of her hands against the stone. Magic happened before her. The stone dissolved, materializing into the very bow and arrow she'd seen on the surface.

The pink hunter could do nothing but gasp, blinking at it awkwardly. Then a smile lit up on her face. This was <******** awesome.

The bowstring tightened as she pulled it back quickly, causing an energy arrow to appear before her. The arrowhead had tiny ridges, which only made Chel squeal a bit more. She was a badass. She was so badass. Of course the first thing she had to do was pull the string back and fire an arrow into the rock. Sparks and energy went spewing everywhere, followed by a loud crash and two lab techs screaming at her from the top of the stairs. "Sorry! Accident! Won't happen again!"

It would happen again.

< According to your social customs, I should provide you with a personal designation. I am Tenebrae. >

"Uhhh cool omniscient spooky voice," Chel said to the air, still confused about who was directing her. "I'm-"

< Chelsea, also known as Chel. I am aware. You continue to look perplexed. >

Begrudgingly lowering the bow, Chel responded, "Well yeah, not every day you meet the voice of God."

< I am not a god. I was created for a single purpose, aiding you in your quest. >

...

< I am the bow. >

"OHHHHHHHHHhhhhhh." That made so much more sense. "So you're like my sidekick."

< Guide is a better word for my designation. >

"Neato. Robin to my Batman."

< ... I am not familiar with such figures. >

Chelsea threw the bow around her shoulder, not realizing that she could simply desummon it- Tenebrae had yet to inform her, as he silently waited for her reply. "I'll tell you later. So we fight bad guys? Kick butt and take names while chewing bubblegum?"

< I am also unfamiliar with that reference. >

Sighing, Chelsea kicked at the ground a bit, pulling the bow back off her should out of impatience. "They don't have bubblegum where you're-" Another arrow snapped and crashed into the wall.

The lab techs quickly escorted her out of the weapons room.

It was on her dorm bed that she found a white coat, crisp and ironed for her. It wasn't any mystery which division she'd been sorted into. She aimlessly twirled her goggles, flopping onto her bed. It was strangely empty, not that she minded.

< It is recommended that you train as soon as possible. >

"And if I don't?"

< There is a 98% chance that it is possible to speak with me within the confines of your mind. >

Huh. Well game on little dude.
