Prom. It was a scary thing that Circe wasn't sure if she was ready to conquer but the closer it got the more she wanted to give it a shot. In last year Circe had been incredibly absent and it made sense that she was stuck as a first year. After prom she was going to study even if it killed her. In fact, if she did cease to be then her parents could just raise her again and she could finish her school years out, right? Circe wasn't going to give up on the idea of graduating. It would happen.

"Uhh." Circe said with an exhale, her face falling into the large book she had been studying from. "FEAR FOR BEGINNERS" was an incredibly helpful book. Circe was certain she could pass any test that came her way in class because of it. Being Circe though she wasn't going to stop there. If she wasn't the best then she wasn't anything. A complex she'd had since she was little due to various things in her past. "Time to take a break." She mumbled into the book. Her minipet from Sex Ed squeaked from her bed as it curled itself up on one of her bed pillows. Yes, Circe still had it. She wasn't ever going to give the thing up either.

With a couple more groans Circe finally peeled herself out of her chair and somehow made it to the fridge where she further groaned about there not being anything to drink despite the fridge being full of food and drinks. "Guess I can go to the machine." Circe said to herself as she looked in her little seed pouch. Yeah, she could afford to do that. With that Circe pushed herself out of her room, down the couple flights of stairs and to the vending machines.

Upon reaching the bottom floor Circe noticed that Rochs door was incredibly close to the vending machines. How long had it been since she'd seen him? A long time. Circe couldn't be sure if his light was on or not. Hopefully not. At this point Circe wasn't sure if she still had friends. It'd been so long since she'd seen or talked to any so she would honestly be surprised if she did. "Better not." She whispered to herself, passing his door without so much as a knock and went straight to the vending machine. As she stood in front of the drink machine Circe realized she was going to have an incredibly hard time picking what she wanted to drink. Once again, too many choices for the indecisive ghoul. "Jacksticks." Circe put her forehead on the plexiglass, closed her eyes and went over the options in her head.

Prom. It was a good thing he didn't have an actual date, Roch thought as he went down the stairs to his floor in the reaper dorm. He'd been working his a**--and his bandmates' asses off trying to get ready for it, to the point where he didn't come back to his room till the early hours of the morning and--

Daaaamn, that ghoul he'd just walked by had been smokin--wait--

"Circe?" he said, pulling to a stop and turning back. "Jack, I almost walked past you!" he said, breaking into a grin as he headed back to her. "How's it goin?"

Circe had been too consumed in her own mental frustration that she hadn't noticed Roch until he spoke to her. When she heard his voice her eyes widened as she detached herself from the machine. "Hm?" She said, slightly confused. It was Roch but wow, he'd changed quite a bit. He seemed a lot more muscular and manly than she remembered. Were those more tattoo's on his arms? Yep. If Circe hadn't have known him for as long as she had she probably would have never recognized him.

"Yeah, you look. . . different." She replied, laughing a little. There was a slight bit of nervousness to her tone. He seemed just as friendly as always. Were they still friends? Maybe she'd ask him that later. Either way she was incredibly happy that he was still a lot like the Roch she knew.

"Studying as if my life depends on it. Which I guess it kind of does." Circe finally returned a smile. "How about you? It's been a long time since I've seen you."

"It's the hair, ain't it?" Roch said, reaching up and scratching the side of his head. "And yeah, it's been like, forever," he admitted. "Hey, don't eat this stuff--it costs an arm an' a leg--I got some snacks an' I ain't eaten dinner yet, so c'mon in. We can talk an' I can toss a pizza or somethin' in."

He started for his room, figuring she would follow. It wasn't as if he was luring her in to attack or anything, hell, she'd spent the night over before an' been perfectly safe.

Her black eyes were drawn up to his purple hair and she smiled, the tension she was feeling slowly dissolving. "Yeah, you grew it out. Among other things." Okay, so there had been no reason for her to be concerned about Roch. Yes she still felt slightly nervous but the joy of seeing him after so long pretty much stuffed it all under the rug of her emotions. "Ah--okay. You don't have to." Circe added while she obediently followed him toward, and into, his room. "You're minipets aren't going to attack me right?" She asked, laughing a little. Last time she hadn't been attacked but she remembered one in particular not being too fond of her--or anyone but Roch.

"So what have you been up to since I last saw you?" She asked, eager to know how he'd been up until now.

... What HAD he done since he last saw her. He went into the kitchen and started digging through the fridge to pull out a frozen pizza.

"Well... found out I got a little sister--she lives across the hall, by the way. Got a ghoulfriend, got dumped, started runnin' around with whoever was free at the moment!" he said cheerfully as he popped the pizza into the oven and got some chokes out of the fridge. He walked over, handing her one. "An' then they actually let bands sign up t'do prom--so I put one t'gether--well, actually I HAVE a band, but I had t'replace two of them for this with guys without dates. We've been workin' our asses off gettin' ready for it. Which was what I just got done doin' before I ran into you."

He headed for the papasan bed, dropping down on one end. "After prom, y'wanna go on a date? Nothin' serious, of course. I've decided t'give up on the idea of a steady ghoulfriend--my last one kept gettin' me almost killed... and killed, for that matter."

When Roch began to tell her all of the things that had happened in his life that she had missed she was actually rather surprised. It seemed like a lot had happened. "A ghoulfriend?" She asked with a grin, a small bit of laughter leaking out. "I remember you saying something along the lines of I'm never getting into a relationship." Circe raised an eyebrow at him, still smiling.

When Roch handed her a choke, she happily took a quick sip of it. Yep, just what she had needed. "That's awesome! I've never been to prom before and probably won't go this time around either but I bet you're group will be amazing! I've heard you play a little and I know you're good." She beamed. It was nice being around Roch again. "Oh, well at least you were doing something fun."

Circe had taken another sip of her choke when Roch asked her to go on date and she literally almost did choke. "What?" She asked, a mix of confusion and did he just ask what I think he did displayed itself on her features. Circe took another sip of her drink as she contemplated the idea. She'd never been on a date before. Maybe it would be better to just go on one with a friend. It couldn't hurt. "Yeah, I guess I'll go on a date with you." Circe shrugged a little, but smiled. "Usually I'm the one who gets killed so you don't have to worry about that." She laughed. "So how did she make you change your mind about not dating?"

"She got under my skin," Roch admitted, sighing as he took a drink of his choke. "Stupid idiot that I was, I fell for a pretty little ditz that could sing. An' I was right about not bein' in a relationship--at least a serious one. All that winds up in is heartache," he muttered. "But I liked the dates! I found out they're a hell of a lot of fun, if y'ain't goin' with a ghoul that thinks all dates should include candles and violin music. Fairs, parties, amusement parks--all the things!"

Then he looked at her, his interest perking. "We could go to the freakshow!" he said suddenly. "They got an entire room showin' off some of the best tattoos around--course it's all about who's off work at the time," he said.

He figured she'd be as interested in the tatts as he was! "I'm thinkin' of getting my back done," he added. "Maybe I'd get some ideas."

Circe nodded but frowned slightly. "Relationships aren't supposed to always end up with a happy ending." She furrowed her brows at him a little, but quickly stopped and instead smiled. She was once more reminded of their conversation before. "Love is a twisted thing that seems to elude most of us. Eventually though everyone finds someone. Just have to wait until that lighting bolt of love hits you." Circe couldn't help but laugh at her own response. Circe herself found it hard to believe that there was someone out there for everyone but she wanted to believe it. How miserable would it be to be alone forever? "Maybe it's the choices you're making in the type of girls you date? Try going out with a yeti or something next time." She grinned.

Seeing as how Circe had never been on a date herself she was immediately interested in what he had done on dates. "I've never been on a date before." She admitted openly with a shrug. "So I'm pretty open to the type of date." Circe paused.

All it took was Roch mentioning tattoo's and Circe was all in. Any reservations she'd had went flying out the window. "YES!" She said enthusiastically. "It would be nice to be around others with tattoo's for a change. How big do you want one on your back?" Circe asked, then paused. She quickly sat her choke down on the floor--making sure it wouldn't fall over--got closer to Roch and turned her back to him. "See, this one wraps around a lot of my body, and covers quite a bit of my back." She turned her head so she could look at him. "Do you want one that covers your entire back, one like mine, or just something small?" One sure way to get Circe excited was to talk about tattoos.

"Well--" he unzipped his vest and let it drop, turning so she could see his back as well. There was a scar across his shoulders, one that looked slightly faded. "It's gotta work around the scar," he said. "I mean, I'd probably go to the twins an' have it linked in with my arms," he added, showing off the tattoos that covered both upper arms. "An' I'd probably go full back, actually. No point in goin' small when I'm already like I am," he decided.

He grabbed his vest and slipped it back on, zipping it as he turned back to her. "Yours is jackin' gorgeous, by the way. Who'd you have do it?"

Okay, so Roch had a nice body but Circe didn't dwell on it because her attention was quickly averted to his scar. Hm. It would be a challenge for any artist because scars were hard to tattoo. They might have to start it a bit lower if they did. "Where did you get that?" She asked, not remembering seeing it before now. Then again she hadn't seen him without his shirt off before. Had she? Circe was pretty positive she'd remember that.

"The twins would make you an excellent tattoo! Maybe one day I'll ask them to give me one." She grinned, turning herself to Roch after he had examined hers as well. "This one I was born with. It's grown with me. Then again, my FEAR ability stems from it. In fact, the tattoo's leap off my body and constrict the person I'm fighting!" She grinned. "I'd show you, but then I might accidentally kill you."

He laughed at the idea--then stopped, looking pretty excited just at the idea. "Dude, that'd be AWESOME t'see," he said, eagerly. "I want to spar with you sometime, seriously. I doubt y'd kill me, y'know, since I'm a hob. And the twins did these," he added, pointing to his right arm, "Lattice," he said, then pointed at his left, "Needle," he finished.

"It stings like a sonuvawitch," he added. "They do it the old fashioned way--but it comes out lookin' awesome, so I can't really complain. See, y'gotta deal with that when y'ain't lucky enough t'be born with it. My little sister's forehead is tattooed, too--I bet that hurt like a mother," he added, thoughtfully. "An' she had it done a while back, I'm sure."

"You have a point." She laughed in return. "YES. WE SHOULD SPAR AFTER PROM." Her black eyes grew large, then she pushed herself up onto her knees and touched his tattoo on his left arm. "I know Lattice the most out of the two. We became friends because of our obsession with tattoos." Circe smiled but paused. "I haven't seen her in a long time either." She felt a little sad thinking about how few people she'd seen as of late but shook her head in an attempt to rid herself of it.

Circe could only nod. Needle had told her about the way she and her sister had gotten their spikes and how they got their tattoo's. "I think the more painful a tattoo is and the longer you have to sit through it shows your devotion to it. Also shows you're more deserving of it. . . They look amazing though!"

When Roch mentioned his sister's head she lifted her bangs to reveal the sun tattoo on her forehead. "They hurt when they come off and they hurt when they reattach to my body. So I can only imagine how it feels to actually get a tattoo there." Wow. Circe needed to meet his sister now. She sounded like someone she'd want to be friends with. "I think over the next break I might get a tattoo. Or I might wait until I graduate." She took a moment to survey her body which was already lined with tattoos. "Then again, maybe I won't have too if they keep growing." Circe looked back up at Roch.

"So what do you want to do for our date?"

"Mmm... we'll grab some rotdogs at a stand an' spend an afternoon just hangin' out at the freakshow, whaddaya say?" he offered. "They got more than just the tattoo show--there's all sorts of great stuff we can check out!"

Clearly it wasn't a romantic date he had in mind. It was more like a play date. "We can take my bike, if y'want! I bet you'll like it." Then he paused, checking his watch. "Bit late to go now," he admitted.

"That sounds like fun." She replied. Romantic dates weren't really what she was hoping for to begin with, otherwise she probably would have been a little more stressed about the whole date idea. "Really? I can't wait to go!" Circe said enthusiastically. "I don't mind taking a bike there. So long as I don't have to peddle." She blushed a little while. "I usually just walk everywhere I go." It would be a weird change but it's not like she'd never been on a bike before. So she could handle it. When Roch looked at his watch she frowned slightly and then shrugged it off. "You did say after prom, so it's okay."

Circe peered over at his watch. "It is late. That means I was studying forever or I've been in here forever." Circe waved her hands to encompass the room before she plucked her choke up off the floor and took another drink. It hit her then that Roch had been practicing with his band and she worried she might be overstaying her welcome. Was he tired? Getting ready for prom must be stressful. "Are you tired?"
