 “Pokémon are by our sides, always, I hope you will understand the meaning of those words.”It was still early in the morning when Evangeline got up and out of bed. The clock read 9:13 AM. Yeah, she could have used a few more hours. Regardless, she turned on the television as she got dressed to some program called Let's Ask Professor Rowan.
Thankfully she had her shirt and pants on when her old friend, Barry, came barging into her room. He said something about asking Professor Rowan for a pokémon and.. a ten million dollar fine? He was gone before Ev got a chance to clarify.
After dropping by his house and he had what he needed, the two set off to Route 201. Just as they were about to run into the grass after being persuaded by Barry, they were stopped by an old man and younger boy. It turned out to be Professor Rowan and his assistant, Lucas. After insisting that she would take care of it, Ev was granted permission to take the Piplup she chose from the selection of three Rowan had offered. Barry took Turtwig.
Hardly a minute after getting her first pokémon, Barry already challenged her to a battle! Inexperienced as she was, Evangeline did her best to work with her penguin-type pokémon to beat her rival. With a literal continuous pounding, she and the little blue creature defeated the Turtwig.
Excited by her victory, Ev headed home to tell her mom about her desire to go off and see the world. Capture pokémon, train them, become their friend. Reluctantly, she agreed, and gave her daughter a pair of running shoes to help her out on her journey.
It was the start to a new chapter of her life, and it would begin in Sandgem Town.

On her way to Sandgem Town, Evangeline was stopped by a man who worked at the Pokémart, who gave her a free potion. She thanked him, before reaching the town and heading to the professor's lab.
Rowan examined the Piplup she was given earlier and told her that it was happy. Deciding it was time to start making an emotional bond, Ev gave her pokémon the name of Torrent.
In preparation for her long journey ahead the professor gave the girl a pokédex to keep track of the pokémon she encounters in the long run, as well as TM27 Return.
A tour of the town was given by Lucas, and afterwards, she healed Torrent at the pokécentre and bought five pokéballs from the mart before heading back to Route 201 to go home and say her final goodbyes. On her way there, she encountered a Kricketot, which she captured after throwing two pokéballs. She named it Jiminy.
Back at home, she stayed for dinner and received a journal from her mother, as well as a parcel to deliver to Barry when she saw him next.

North from Sandgem Town, Evangeline found herself on Route 202. To her surprise, Lucas was there. He gave her a demonstration on how to catch pokémon--which she didn't need, considering she'd already caught one. Nevertheless, he gave her some good tips.
Once he was gone, she continued to venture through the grass until she ran into a Shinx. A little more difficult to capture, but with the help of Torrent getting its health down, she managed to capture it after tossing three pokéballs. The newest member's name was made Simba.
After defeating a couple of youngsters and a lass, Ev and her crew of three arrived in Jubilife City. It was here that she met a strange man by the name of 'Looker'. Weird as he was, he gave her a VS. Recorder. Lucas directed her to the Trainer School, where she delivered the parcel to Barry and got his extra town map.
Not too long after she also met the creator of the Pokétch. For a promotion, she went around the city and found three clowns before she received one of the watches.
With little else to do, and needing stronger pokémon, Evangeline took her three and trained on Route 202. After some time, Jiminy evolved into a Kricketune. She was soon thankful for the training, because Barry came along and challenged her to a battle. It didn't take long for her to defeat his Starly with the newly evolved Jiminy. However, by the time he sent out his Turtwig, the Kricketune was tired and switched out for Simba. The new pokémon easily took the Turtwig down.
Followed by the battle and a stop at the pokémon centre, Ev headed out to Route 203. The easiest by far, she captured a Bidoof with one pokéball and nicknamed it Muffin.

On the way to Oreburgh city, a random hiker passed down his HM06 Rock Smash to Evangeline, and she thanked him for the kind gesture. It would likely come in handy for later. For now however, as she entered Oreburgh Gate, she was almost instantly greeted by a Zubat swarming around her head. She swiftly captured it with a pokéball and gave it the name Keres.
On the way through the gate, there was a rough battle with a trainer and, unfortunately, Jiminy passed away as a result. Crushed as she was, Ev knew she couldn't dwell on it forever when she had several other pokémon with her for comfort.
When she arrived in Oreburgh City, a youngster took her to the gym, where Barry told her that the leader was off at the mine, so, that was where she headed. Down there, she captured a Geodude, which she named Boulder, with only two pokéballs. She eventually found Roark, the gym leader, who demonstrated Rock Smash before heading back to his gym.
Ev followed suit and, when she finally reached the leader, sent out Torrent to take on his pokémon. He wasn't difficult to beat. With bubble, the Piplup took out his pokémon one by one; starting with his Geodude, then Onix, then Cranidos. Thankfully Torrent managed to survive through all three.
As a reward for winning, Evangeline was given the Coal Badge, along with TM76 Stealth Rock. She headed back west, only to find that Route 207 was closed off for those without a bike.

Because it was the only way to go, Evangeline headed back to Jubilife City, only to be greeted by that weird man again, Looker. Together, they saw Team Galactic ordering Professor Rowan to hand over his research, and of course, he refused.
Alongside Lucas, she participated in her first double battle to take them down. Thanks to the battle, Torrent evolved into a Prinplup, and she received a fashion case from Looker.
On Route 204, Ev encountered a Starly, which she captured with the assistance of her newly evolved Torrent. She named it Aero and continued along to the Ravaged Path.
There she caught a Psyduck which she, ironically, called Einstein with two pokéballs. And, after a battle with a pair of twins, Simba evolved into a Luxio, all before reaching Floaroma Town.

When she arrived in Floaroma Town, Evangeline dropped into the Flower Shop and received a Sprayduck from one of the ladies in the store. However, on Route 205, a little girl told her that her father has gone missing. Of course, Ev couldn't just let this girl wander about without her parents, so she went off in search of him.
She went to the Valley Windworks and defeated a Galactic Grunt blocking the door to the windmill, followed by two more grunts harassing a man. He thanked her with honey when he was released. She retrieved the key to the windmill and went in, soon defeating more grunts and a commander, saving the little girl's dad.
Once back out of the windmill, Evangeline found a Drifloon in the Valley Windworks. A short battle later, she had it captured and named it Friday, in relation to the day of the week it was.
She travelled back to Route 205, where she first found the little girl, and captured a Shellos with a pokéball and named it Limas. There were a couple battles along the way as she travelled, and she took a rest break before she went into Eterna Forest.

Inside of Eterna Forest, Ev was greeted by a woman by the name of Cheryl, who asked to be guided through the forest. She agreed and led her through. At one point Evangeline nearly captured a Buneary, but thanks to one of Cheryl's pokémon, it was accidentally knocked out.
It didn't take long to get through the forest, and Cheryl thanked her with a soothe bell for being her guide. Her next stop was Eterna City. Beside the pokémon centre, an old man gave her an explorer's kit for if she wanted to go underground. And, moments later, Ev bumped into Barry again, who led her to a pokémon statue in the city.
Random strangers handing off items must've been a much more common occurrence than she thought it would be, because another woman who introduced herself as Cynthia gave her HM01 Cut. She headed for the gym next, and the leader was waiting outside.
She followed her in, and when it came time to battling her, Evangeline sent out Aero. Like Roark, her Starly took out each of Gardenia's pokémon. First her Turtwig, then Cherrim, and finally Roserade. As a reward she was given the Forest Badge and TM86 Grass Knot.
Ev ran into some more trouble with Team Galactic afterwards in the Galactic Building, but fortunately, nothing negative happened, and instead, Friday evolved into a Drifblim. As well as that, the woman from earlier, Cynthia, gave her an egg, and she was given a bike from the bike store owner as a thanks for getting back his Clefairy.
On her way to the bicycle route, Lucas' father gave her an EXP. Share, and a flag from a girl in the gatehouse.

Right on Route 206, the first thing that Evangeline did was capture a Ponyta with a net ball. Not meant for that type of pokémon, but whatever. As long as it captured the Ponyta, that she decided to call Kestrel, it didn't seem to matter.
On the way to Mt. Coronet, she met up with Lucas, who gave her a dowsing machine as well as a VS. seeker. When she went in the mountain, she first ran into a Chingling. It was captured with a pokéball this time, and she named it Anneau.
Once outside on Route 208, Ev got a berry searcher app for her pokétch from a little girl, and a berry from the 'Berry Master'. Further along, she got an odd keystone from an equally odd man. It was also here that she used a pokéball to capture a Roselia, and named it Dew.
In Hearthome City, Evangeline met Kiara, a pokémon contest judge. It was only a few steps later that the egg from Cynthia hatched into a Togepi. She named it Benedict. At the contest centre, she got glitter powder from Kiara and, to her surprise, her mom was there and gave her a dress. The gym leader, Fantina, also happened to be there.
Another 'famous' person she met was Bebe, the system administrator of the boxes, who was kind enough to give her an Eevee. She named it Genesis. Finally, she got a poffin case from the chairman of the Pokémon Fan Club before heading off to the gym.
There, she challenged Fantina. Although more challenging, thanks to the special attention to Friday, Ev's Drifblim was able to take on all three of the leader's pokémon with her ghost type moves, although had to be careful of getting hit herself. She defeated her Duskull first, followed by her Mismagius, and last but not least, her Haunter. In return, Evangeline got the Relic Badge and TM65 Shadow Claw.
Before leaving Hearthome City, Friday participated in a Smart Competition, and with all luck on her side, ended up winning!

In a good enough mood from earning her third badge and winning a contest, Evangeline didn't mind when Barry stopped her at the gate to Route 209 for a battle. Simba easily took down his Staravia with a few electric moves. Next came his Grotle, and she sent out Kestrel to take care of that. Simba was sent out again when Barry brought out his Buizel and more electric moves finished it off. Lastly was his own Ponyta, and Ev let Torrent defeat it.
After the battle, a Ralts was found on Route 209, which Evangeline captured with one pokéball, and named it Athena. An old fisherman on the route was kind enough to give her a good rod, in case she wanted to fish.
In the Solaceon Ruins, Ev found and captured an Unown in the shape of an F, and so she named it 'Ef'. Creative. While exploring she did also find several evolution stones as well as a nugget, HM05 Defog, odd incense and a mind plate in the final room.

After leaving the ruins, Evangeline headed out for Route 210, where she caught a Noctowl with a single pokéball. She named it Archimedes. From there, it was a lot of trainer battles, although she stopped at the Café Cabin for a little bit, where she battled a few collectors.
Then on her journey through Route 215, she encountered a Kadabra. It was captured with two pokéballs, and she called it Kinesis. There were more battles from there, and then she met Crasher Wake, a gym leader.
Not of Veilstone City, because when she headed for the gym, it was ran by a girl named Maylene. Evangeline allowed Friday to handle the battle again; sending her out against the leader's Meditite. She kept Friday out for her Machoke as well, but exchanged Friday for Kestrel to take on her final pokémon, Lucario.
After the battle, she left the gym with the Cobble Badge and TM60 Drain Punch. Unfortunately, when she got out, she saw Lucas, and he told her that his pokédex had been stolen.

Pastoria City; also known as home to the Safari Zone! Evangeline decided to drop by there first. It turned out to be an adventure, and she managed to visit four different zones before time ran out. In area one, she found a Tropius. She threw two safari balls and captured it. She gave it the name Tropicana. She headed for the third area next, where she found a Tangela. She only needed to throw one safari ball! She gave it the name of Noodles.
The fourth area was where she caught a Yanma with only one ball again. She called it Twitch, and then went for the sixth area. There she found a Wooper, but this time had to throw some mud before throwing a ball. She caught it regardless, and named it Axolotl.
After her safari adventure, Barry decided to challenge her to a battle. Panzer was sent out to take out his Staravia with some rock moves. His Buizel was next, so Ev sent out Dew. After that was his Ponyta, and Torrent put out the flame with some water. Lastly was Grotle, which was easily taken care of by Kestrel.
Evangeline was definitely ready to take on the next gym leader now, so she headed in to find that it was Crasher Wake. This battle was much tougher. Especially against his Gyarados that he started off with. Dew and Friday took turns getting hits in and eventually they managed to knock it out. With the help of some potions, Dew managed to finish the rest of the battle on his own, taking out both Wake's Quagsire, followed by his Floatzel.
For winning, she was given the Fen Badge and TM55 Brine. Outside the gym, Cynthia gave her a secret potion.

Back out on Route 210, Evangeline managed to clear the Psyducks blocking the path with the secret potion that Cynthia had given her. After they were gone, Cynthia caught up to her again and handed her an old charm to give to her grandmother when she reached Celestic Town.
On the route to the town, she battled numerous trainers, and after a battle with an ace trainer, Kestrel evolved into a Rapidash. Soon she reached Celestic Town and delivered the charm. A little while after, she defeated a Galactic Boss and earned herself HM03 Surf from it.
When she reached the gate from Route 218, her pokédex got upgraded. Barry met her on the other side and challenged her to yet another battle. Once again, Panzer defeated his Staraptor. Dew took care of the Floatzel he sent out next. Torrent knocked out his Rapidash, only for her own Rapidash, Kestrel, to take out his Torterra, followed by his Heracross.
Evangeline took a quick trip to Iron Island after, where she met Riley, who gave her HM04. She didn't stay, and headed back to Canalave City to take on the gym leader.
There, she faced Byron. Panzer used his ground move to take down his Magneton. Kestrel took care of his Steelix with some fire, and Panzer came back out to finish the battle, easily taking out the leader's Bastiodon. He gave her the Mine Badge, as well as TM91 Flash Cannon.
Afterwards, Barry took her to the library where she spoke to Professor Rowan. He instructed her to go to Lake Valor to investigate an explosion. She did, and after trouble with Team Galactic, she headed off to Lake Verity next. After battling a few grunts, Panzer evolved into a Rhydon.

The next part of her journey included a lot of capturing pokémon, along with fighting Team Galactic. First, on Route 211, she captured a Meditite with two ultra balls and named it Jampa. She then travelled through Mt. Coronet to get to Route 216, where she then captured a Sneasel and named it Swiper.
There were a few more trainer battles on her way to Route 217, and when she got on it, she captured a Swinub and named it Permafrost. She decided to make her the final, permanent resident on her main team. Regardless, in Acuity Lakefront, she caught a Snover with an ultra ball as well and gave it the name Pinecone.
Finally, she reached Snowpoint City. There was nothing exciting there besides the gym, so that's where she headed. It was a piece of cake for Kestrel to take on all four of Candice's pokémon. First her Sneasel, then Piloswine, Abomasnow and to finish, her Froslass.
As a reward she was given the Icicle Badge and TM72 Avalanche to go with it.

After defeating the gym leader, Evangeline headed into the Galactic Warehouse, where she defeated a few grunts and scientists. Over her time there, Permafrost evolved into a Piloswine.
From there on, it was a lot of battling. At Spear Pillar, she had to take on grunts, commanders, and Cyrus, the boss. Unluckily, a portal opened and she had to go into the Distortion World. She travelled upside down, sideways--every which way she could imagine. At the end of it all, she had to face Giratina, the pokémon that ruled this world. Several dusk and ultra balls later, she managed to capture it for her own. She named it Eclipse.
Now that the three guardians of the lake were out in the wild, Ev decided to hunt for them next. At Lake Acuity, she captured Uxie. The name she gave it was Buttercup. Next, she travelled all the way to Lake Valor to capture Azelf. This pokémon she named Bubbles. Finally, because it ran out into the wild, she found Mesprit on Route 203, where she captured it and named the final guardian Blossom.
She was now ready to take on the final gym leader in Sunyshore City.
