Gunju lead his daughter out into the snow. It was summer time, so there wasn't much snow fall, but the land was still white as ever. It was beautiful out in the sun during the summer, and this time he got to see it for himself. He looked down at his daughter, who looked a lot like her mother. He smiled. Life couldn't have gotten any better.
He finally stopped when he was in a good spot. He had a gift for his little girl, and he wanted it to be perfected. Rashima had no idea about this, yet he knew she'd not be upset at all. Not about this. "Lisimba." He said as he turned towards his daughter. She almost looked as if she was in trouble.
"I have something for you." He finally said. "But you must promise me you'll take care of it and never hurt it." He added with a stern look. He had no doubt that she could do this things. She was the youngest of them, yet she was pretty smart.

Lisimba followed her father wtihout a word. She had to bounce a bit while walking in the snow, sometimes she ended up falling in a hole which would cover her completely with snow before she popped out and continued to follow. She was growing to like the snow. At first, she had hated it so much, but now it was something that was there.
When they stopped, her head went down low. She must have been in trouble. Why else would he call her out here? Why else would he have said her specifically? What did she do?
Once his words filled her eyes, she looked completely confused. She nodded, but it was almost like it wasn't her that was nodding. She didn't understand what he was saying. Her ears perked up as she moved closer to him.

Gunju gave a chuckle as he slowly pulled out a baby hare from his mane. He had hidden him rather nicely, and made sure that he wouldn't have fallen. The little guy was asleep when he pulled him out. He put the kitten on the ground at Lisimba's feet. "He's yours."
It was a big responsibility to take care of one, but he was certain that Lisimba was ready. He smiled gently at both of them as the kitten opened his eyes to look up at them both. He was still very young, and hadn't learned to speak yet. But soon, he would be able to.
"He's your's to take care of" He continued. "Your responsibility." He nodded. "You'll feed him, name him, and protect him."

Shocked, Lisimba went nodding at her father again. Not really sure what she was agreeing too, but that was little important at the moment. "DADDY! He's amazing!" The kitten jumped a bit when she said that. She couldn't help it. She knew this was a big thing, and a few of her siblings had already gotten their hare, it was her turn now.
"His name is Riikano." She said instantly. It was something that popped in her head the moment she had gotten him. She picked him up carefully and placed him on her back. He seemed rather happy there, yet he wasn't sure too much. "We'll protect each other!" She said with a nod.
"Thank you daddy!" she said again almost in a squeal. She wanted to run and show everyone, but first she had to do things and make sure he was okay, and OH! So much to do, so little time. What was she gonna do first?

And with that, Gunju was sure that the two would be very good friends. He loved making his kids happy, and he loved even more when he can give them a friend for life and protection at the same time. His other kids got older hares, this was one of the first kittens that had been born in the pride. He wasn't sure the parents, he had found the kitten by itself, and in needing of help.
"Riikano it is!" he said with a chuckle. "Take extra care of him. I found him all alone." He hoped that there wasn't more of the little guys. Gunju had looked and even gotten someone else to help him look to see if there was. Riikano was the only one. It was a miracle, yet sad at the same time.
"You better go get started in giving him a place to sleep, and making sure you've got enough food for him."

She nodded at him and started to walk towards the caves. She moved slowly so the little guy wouldn't roll off her back. The last thing she needed was to hurt him. She'd never be allowed a hare again. That would be a nightmare. The only lion without one! Though, for now many of the lions were just now getting their hare companions just as her. She even saw someone with TWO hares. That made her jealous. Until now.
"We got so much to do, Riikano". She spoke as she moved on with a giggle and a nod.
