History/Background Mayu was born in a small village in Japan. Her family was the leading family in the village, so she grew up knowing what it was like to be on top. Mayu worked with her mother at the villages shrine. The shrine was like the village's center, so they would voice their feelings there. Mayu would listen to their feelings and tell them to her mother and father so they could find a way to solve whatever problem or feeling they had.
One day, her village was attacked by a woman who shot flames from her hands. Mayu first tried to fight the woman off with her her shaku and then her family's sword, but her attempts failed. Her village scattered, some dying in the mayhem, including Mayu's mother.
Mayu and her father fled to a small forest. As years went by, Mayu learned how to fight with her sword through her father's teachings. She also learned how to fight using her shaku too, using it as a short sword of sorts. Eventually, Mayu and her father moved to america. Mayu said goodbye to her father and made her way to the DWMA to become a student there and fight off evil beings, like the witch who destroyed her home. Mayu has been in Death City ever since.
