Mahavir clipped slowly, yawning as he walked through the long, and dry grass. The sun was high over head, and pretty warm, so he was starting to feel sleepy, and was pondering a siesta of sorts to doze away the hours that the day was at its hottest.

He wasn't entirely sure where would be a good place however, he wasn't entirely sure of his bearings as he'd just struck out one day from the plains he had called home for a while, and just followed the sun, walking, eating and enjoying the long summer days.

He was craving company by now though, of the pretty, female kind, so he was in two minds about taking a nap in case the doing so meant he missed any lady that happened on by. But if he slept, he would be fresh of body and mind..so he turned slightly, heading through the browning, long grass towards a small stand of trees, his tail gently swishing as he went.

Was he gone? She really hoped he was gone... She'd been hiding from the same stallion for longer than she could remember. It had either been weeks or months, but she had done everything in her power to make sure that he couldn't find her. She hadn't even done anything to him, but he had a fascination with her horns that wasn't normal - while he'd seemed nice to begin with, there had been a flicker in those eyes that had unsettled her. Just as well she'd always followed her instincts as she quickly fled, though he had looked for her ever since.

For this reason the petite unicorn had spent most of her time in the forest or darting through the plains, using her stripes to good affect to slip about camouflaged and unnoticed between the trees and grass. In high sun her white fur gleamed and the black stripes looked like nothing more than the shadows of the grass.

It should therefore have come at no surprise that she was following much the same routine today, as she had done for weeks, darting forward in short bursts across the grass, before hiding. The slightest movement would spook her, the slightest sound would make her freeze... To be quite honest she would have been very difficult to see. However Mahavir had one advantage in the sense that he looked so much like the grass and thus, she spotted him just a touch to late.

Assuming it was clear, she had elected to make another burst, only to skid to a halt just in front of the stallion, much like a deer in headlights.

'Hello.' Mahavir said, it was the first word that popped into his head - possibly an appropiate one, it was a greeting after all, but he was mostly just surprised at the sudden appearance of the pretty, young mare and was at a loss at first at what else to say!

He smiled next, gathering his wits quickly, despite the slight sun induced lethargy he had been fighting as he went, giving his head a short shake, and taking the opportunity to give her a quick once over. She certainly was exotic looking, and..slightly panicked?

'Are you okay?' he asked, not sure if he was just misreading her body language from lack of exercise in doing so.

He'd seen her, he'd spoken to her!

Oh dear gods she was going to die...

Her mouth fell open, her eyes grew wider and she reeled away. Even though she may have been completely stationary, she still managed to pull her head away in an attempt to gain distance. What was she supposed to do? He'd follow her, she'd never escape, she'd made a huge mistake creeping out from her hiding place.

Positively terrified, the mare finally found her footing and with a squeak of horror she backed away and then promptly bounded off. Flicking up her heels she shot towards the safest place and promptly found herself diving straight into the deeper part of the river...

Mahavir was completely nonplussed at the mare's reaction; did he look that scary? He always thought he had looked relatively well, but apparently he was something akin to a fearsome creature right then.

'Umm..wait!' he called out, heading after the fleeing mare, she'd been quick but he'd caught the general direction that she'd dashed off towards, and as he got closer he heard the impact as she hit the water.

He rushed to the river bank, skidding to a halt before he too went into the river.
'Hey! Are you okay? Can you get out again? I'm not going to harm you, I swear.' he called over the noise of the water.

Oh by the spirits he was following her! Every fibre of her being shrieked out in terror, and while he may not have posed her any harm, the fact he had followed her caused an overwhelming sense of panic. Matters only became worse when it became apparent he was going to follow her into the water - with a mighty splash he joined her and from beneath the surface, she could see his legs nearby. With that in mind she had no other choice than to hold her breath for as long as possible, he'd get bored eventually, he'd have to leave right?

Better yet, he might think she'd drowned!

Remaining perfectly still, the mare closed her eyes and held her breath, her face beginning to contort with the effort as it became apparent she wouldn't be able to hold it for very much longer. About a minute had passed when her body gave an urgent tug and for the sake of her own survival she was forced to surface, dragging herself up with a dramatic and rather spluttered gasp. Nevertheless even as she surfaced she was attempting to swim away, murmuring somewhat incoherently for the most part.

"Please don't hurt me, go away, I didn't do it," she chattered very quickly as she tried to stumble up stream and away from him.

The water took Mahavir's breath away and for a moment he was slightly disorientated, shaking his wet mane out of face and scanning the river from where he stood. His hooves churned mud and rocks and he could feel both moving underneath as he walk-paddled along.

Where did she go? He couldn't see her distinctive stripes, and grew worried, hoping that she was okay, searching as he went.

'Hey!' he called, startled once again at her sudden appearance, but at least now he knew where she had been. He was confused by rambling words, and called after her.

'I'm not going to hurt you! And I don't know what you mean!'

Blowing hair out of his face again in a slightly frustrated manner he weighed up his options. If he continued to pursue her in the river they would both get hurt. Instead he struck out for the bank, and after pulling himself out, turned to see where she was. Again he called out across the water;
'Please, come back on land, I really, really have no intention to harm you!'

She was quite obviously terrified, desperate to escape but failing so miserably at her attempts. If she had done the intelligent thing and clambered out of the water to begin with she might have been successful, but her legs were already weary and her energy levels were depleting rather rapidly. Suffice it to say that she was very tired, and now stuck between a rock and a hard place. However Mahavir had done the right thing in those moments, exiting the river and pulling up to the side; it would prove to be the most intelligent of decisions, for the moment she realised he wasn't following her, was the moment she stopped struggling.

Eyes round and resembling those of a doe, she slid a ways down the river on the current before unsteadily pulling herself out of the water. The "drowned rat" wasn't really her best ever look, in fact, it left much to be desired - however if she had been another individual the doe eyes and overall look would have been rather comical. Alas, now was not the appropriate time for jokes and the skittish mare was unlikely to receive them very well at all...

Still, she hadn't the strength to run and she suspected she had nowhere safe to go at this moment in time. After all, the stallion was still there and technically she had wanted to go in his direction. Bolting was no longer and option and while he hadn't chased her, she still held him in suspicion. Similarly, when he made his assurances that he had no intention of harming her, she still didn't trust him... There were creatures in this world who were very good at making promises, and they broke them just as easily!

"Then why follow me?" she stuttered, her voice quivering as she got up the nerve to speak back. "If you don't mean any harm, why did - are, you chasing me?"

'Are you okay?' Mahavir asked, when the terrified and clearly tired looking mare finally emerged from the water. She looked very sorry for herself and he felt bad that he had somehow caused her to bolt from him and into the river.

'You didn't hurt anything on the rocks in the water?' he persisted, looking to see if she had any clear injuries before he replied to the questions she had asked, his forehead wrinkling with his concern for this damp little mare.

'I wasn't really chasing you, I suppose it might have seemed that way, but I was worried and confused by your reaction when we intially bumped into each other. I'm very sorry if I caused you concern but I really had the best intentions to my actions. '
