Salty Breeze was beyond proud of herself. She could barely keep still as she lead her rag-tag family to the cave she'd been keeping her 'secret project' in, her face pulled into a wide smile. Every so often she let out an uncontrollable giggle, but even when asked, she refused to divulge the secret. All she would say is that the Phonyland owners had some kind of a hand in the whole thing, and that it was something amazing.
"You guys are gonna love this," was all she'd say. "It's perfect -- perfect for a pirate family -- perfect perfect perfect. Wait until you see it!"
Inside the cave was, well, something absolutely huge. Absolutely huge and swaying gently in the water. It would have taken an idiot not to realize immediately that the thing was a boat, as it was uncovered, even if it was cloaked in darkness. The masts, the furled sail, the rigging -- it was unmistakable.
"Wait 'till you see all of her," Salty Breeze said, beaming as she trotted forward. "Just you wait!"

Jolly Roger was not prone to great shows of emotion but as he stood alongside his crew, there was a twinkle in his eye and tilt to his lips that was almost a smile. "Aye... she'll be a right beauty." He breathed out. The young pirate closed his one eye and listened, just listened to faint creaks and groans of the ship waiting for them in the darkness. He couldn't see her properly yet, but he knew that very soon they would be terrifying landlubbers together.

Treasure Hunter was excited yet nervous as they were all headed toward the cave to see the hidden beauty. He trailed along after Jolly Roger who was following behind Salty Breeze quite closely. "I cannot - cannot wait to see it." he stuttered as he peered into the distance at a dark object inside the cave. The masts were the first things Hunter noticed and he could not wait to be able to jump on board. "I cannot - cannot wait to get on board!" He galloped forward to trot alongside the green phony with an eyepatch. "G'day - g'day pardn'r, I'm Treasure Hunter."

"A real ship." Filly Buster could hardly believe it. It was one thing to imagine taking to sea, and quite another to actually be able to do it, with only the wind to tell them where they could and couldn't go. Endless possibilities were out there, waiting for them. Adventure, battle, treasure...
But she was getting ahead of herself. First, the ship.
From what little she could see of it, it looked amazing. "Arr, a finer vessel there'll never be." Filly Buster's voice was serious and stern, but excitement crept into it as she considered. "Are there cannons? And an armory? We have to make sure she's well stocked, so we can defend her if need be!" Privately, she rather hoped it would come to that at some point. A voyage without a fight wasn't a proper voyage at all.

With wings all a buzz, Golden Doubloon followed after her faithful crew as they headed into the mysterious cave. It took a lot of effort for the flutter to stay on course with everyone else when there was a whole new place to explore. Ah gee, she should know better. If there was treasure to be found here, surely Salty would of told 'em. Her jaw nearly dropped to the floor at what came next. "WOWIE!" The little lassie exclaimed as they arrived at the cloaked ship. Looks like Salty had been keeping the treasure a secret! Their own boat! All theirs to claim and seek adventures on. Her eyes glittered like gold as they darted about to take in what was peeking out of the big black drape. She grinned at Filly Buster as her crewmate looked it over, "Well if there isn't one, I bet'cha you of all pirates could make us something just perfect for defense! We'll be the terror of the vast seas!" And with that title meant gold...artifacts...and everything else that glitters would be theirs!

"Aye, that's who you be." Jolly Roger agreed solemnly, opening his eye. Of course he knew who Treasure Hunter was. No self-respecting pirate seeking a future as a captain would board a ship without knowing the names of his crew. "Let's see her then. I want to feel her beneath me hooves."

Salty Breeze smiled broadly as her crew responded to the magical -- downright magical -- ship that she had managed to bring into their coffers. She bounded up to the thing, pulling a flashlight out of her side saddlebags and flicking it on.
"Oh!" she said. "But I haven't shown you the best part!"
She clicked on the flashlight to show the beautiful ship -- its gorgeous, deep brown wooden sides, its gorgeous sail and, in her mind the best part of all: the gorgeous mermaid painted on the back of the ship, one eye closed in a wink and plump red lips puckered into a kiss. Her long red hair tumbled over her breasts, which seemed to have no other covering. Beside her, in curvy but legible script, read: THE FLIRTY MERMAID.
"Ta-da!" said Salty proudly, lingering on the painting. "Well? Isn't she a beaut?"
She turned back to her crew, beaming from ear to ear.

The slow reveal of the ship was almost too much for him to handle. That deep luxurious wood, the sail just waiting to take on the wind and...
Jolly Roger stood frozen. He didn't blink and didn't breathe. He just stood. He was too overcome with emotion to react at all, though perhaps not the kind of emotion Salty wanted.
"Aye..." he uttered one strangled reply as he imagined terrorizing the seas on The Flirty Mermaid.

Golden Doubloon stared in silence when their ship was uncovered. The little flutter's eyes widened and her mouth hung open like she'd seen a ghost. For a moment it looked like she didn't like the ship but in the next she was buzzing off to get a closer look. Like a bumblebee, Golden Doubloon flitted about the ship's size examining everything she could see. "It's BEAUTIFUL!" She called back to her crew. She followed the dips and curls of curvy text as she read it out loud. "The...Flirty...Mermaid." Glancing back at the other phonies, "So this is our name? And..." She flew back to get the bigger picture and erupted into laughter. The flutter nearly knocked herself to the ground she was laughing and rolling about in the air so much. "The mermaid looks so funny! Hehe! I like it, Salty. We'll be making our foes tremble in fear with this!" Or laughter. Whatever came first.

For a long moment, Salty Breeze simply stood on the shoreline and watched her new boat with sparkles in her eyes, a look of pure rapture over her little face. They had a real boat, and she was the most beautiful thing Salty had ever seen. She could hardly wait to get on it and set sail with her trusty crew!
Except, wait...
Jolly Roger and Golden Doubloon seemed a little... odd. They weren't overwhelmed with joy the way Salty had expected.
Then, Golden said it. We'll make our foes tremble in fear with this!
A helpless laugh began to pour out of Salty. "Oh -- oh, no! I -- I forgot to make her scary!"

The Flirty Mermaid. Filly Buster couldn't help but stare, in a mixture of fascination and horror. Mermaids weren't bad, per se. And neither was flirting. But the image of a flirty mermaid hardly inspired terror.
She could picture it: the crew, sailing off for their first real pillage. Pulling aside another ship, firing the cannons, waving their swords. And then sailing away, humiliated, as the crew of the other ship, their supposed targets, laugh loudly enough for the sound to reach the shore.
Then Salty spoke, chasing away the unpleasant images. Suddenly, the name of the ship didn't matter. Salty had done an amazing thing here, and even though it wasn't perfect, they shouldn't forget what really mattered.
"No," Filly Buster cut in. "No, she's definitely scary! Um." How was she going to sell this? There were no horror stories about flirty mermaids. Or were there? "What about sirens? Mermaids who lure sailors to their doom? That's plenty scary, I think! We'll be, uh, harbingers of doom."
After delivering her line in the most dramatic voice she could muster up, she thought about what she was saying. It actually did sound kind of cool. Maybe she wouldn't have to lie to be nice in this case.

They were laughing.
Jolly Roger continued to stare at the great and still beautiful ship, running his one-eyed gaze across her bough and up her mast, and he thought deeply, his brow furrowed into a scowl.
Then his thoughts came together and Jolly Roger did a very rare thing, he smiled. His lips quirked upwards and made a small sound, perhaps a grunt, perhaps the softest laugh you could imagine.
This would be a challenge, but imagine the fools they would make of their enemy. The way they would tremble as when they saw the deadliest mermaid approaching, reading to plunder and pillage. 'The Flirty Mermaid' would be scary.
Jolly Roger turned to look at Salty Breeze and said, "well done."

Hunter did not flinch at Salty's ship when it was revealed, nor was there a surprised look on his face. He just stood there, staring at it... "Flirty... Mermaid?" His eyes were fixated on the mermaid painted on the back of the ship. The wood chosen for the ship was magnificent- the sails, the rudder, the masts, everything was beautiful, but this mermaid.. Oh how he wished it was something more... intimidating. He gave a light chuckle, of course, the captain being a filly, it couldn't be helped. ..
He walked closer to the ship and was inches away from hopping onto it when he heard Salty say that she forgot to make the girly mermaid scary looking. Bursting out with laughter, he pushed one hoof onto the side of the ship and leaned against it to keep balance. "A little too late for that."
When sirens were brought up, his ears turned to face south, and hid between his fluffy hair. "Well, that would work, if they actually existed. And if they do exist.... pleaaaaaaase Salty, take me to see one!" He wiped away the hair from his face and ran over to Salty and the rest of the crew. Looking at each and every one of them, he continued, "Don't you want to see one up close too? Or is that just me?" Excitement took over him and his brown eyes sparkled in the sun as he imagined seeing one or many out at sea.Bringing this thread back to life; I could use this laughter element rp; Making huge effort to grow this little phony of mine ;A;

They didn't mind!
A look of relief came over Salty's face, even as she continued to laugh, joining Doubloon in positively doubling over. She laughed until she had to lift a hoof to wipe a tear from her eye, and then she straightened, her smile wobbly and her cheeks aching. She looked at her little crew with positive delight and affection, her heart swelling.
She loved the ship, her crewmates, and even the silly name she'd chosen for it. They were going to be a terror on the sea, whether they were flirtatious or not.
"You guys are the best," Salty said, throwing a hoof over Treasure and Jolly's necks and squeezing them closer. "And we're going to see EVERYTHING! Sirens, treasure, cyclopseseses... everything there is to see! People won't know what hit 'em!"

He nuzzled his face against Salty's chest. Although he had no idea what cyclopes were, he knew one thing: Treasure. "Alllll thee treasurree! I will make sure we find them!" He had read about it. Books and books about buried treasure regardless if they were real or only myths. "When do we set sail?" he asked, curiously.
