Jessie looked down at the card and back up at the building before looking back down at the card. She reread the slim little piece of folded paper once more; it wasn’t as if she hadn’t already had it memorized; My Darling Jessie,
It is hard to believe you are 26 today. How I missed you these last few years, you should take some time off from that dusty store and come visit your auntie. Now that your mother and father are gallivanting across the globe I feel left behind. Ah, well , such is life. Truly though darling, visit me, but until then please use this gift certificate and send me a copy.
You’re Loving Aunt, Betty Jessie had felt guilty when she received the card from her godmother. She had been so busy the last few months that she had forgotten to write or call her. She remembered the days spent going to the zoo and the park while her mom was at work. The movies her ‘Auntie’ Betty took her to and the bookstores they both dug through looking for that special one. Betty was her mom’s best friend and Jessie knew that her mom often stopped by to spend time with her while they were crisscrossing the country but still… Jessie should have kept in better contact. So when a gift certificate fluttered out of the card Jessie knew she would use it, regardless of what it was for. Wylde Photography Studio was blazoned across the front and it included a number and address. It took Jessie a while to get up the nerve to call and set up an appointment but here she was… If she dared. It’s just a picture right? What could it hurt. She thought as she mounted the steps and knocked on the door. Little did she know just what was in store for her… the 1950s.

Clip-clop-clip-clop was the sound of feet against the hardwood floor behind the door. It was almost like listening to a little pony trotting up to greet the person behind the door.
However, it wasn't a miniature horse. The door opened up and a silvery haired girl in a purple dress and a sunhat opened the door. She looked at the new guest with bright eyes and a wide smile.
"Hullofericerous*!" she greeted as she pushed the door open completely, holding it open by merely just standing in front of it.
"You are Jessie, right? I think Mom needs about 10 more minutes to finish up with the current appointment." Her eyes managed to easily catch upon a familiar certificate at hand.
"Ooooooooo... a gift certificate! Who got it for you? Your boyfriend?"

LizzyMoo sorry about the delay ^^' Jessie was surprised when a young girl opened the door. Her hair and eyes were striking and the bookkeeper had never seen such a young girl dress so... classy. Most young children that she dealt with at the store were wearing shorts or a childish dress. Colorful yes but not really coordinated unless the parent had some hand in the dressing and unless Jessie missed her guess the young girl standing before her was dressed just the way she wished. Did she just say 'Hullofericerous'? Jessie was a bit surprised over the bounciness of the greeting. She figured it would be more subdued and quiet like those photo places at the mall, only when there were kids getting their picture taken was it loud. "Um, hello. Yeah.. I mean, yes, I'm Jessie. Oh, ok." Mom... that explains part of the reason why the young girl opened the door and it was pretty likely that they lived here as well, just like Jessie lived over the bookstore. Although her friends have commented that her apartment was more like an extension of the store since it was full of books too. "Boyfriend?" Confused Jessie looked down at the card and the gift certificate in her hand. "Oh, no. It's from my Aunt Betty. It's a late birthday present." She showed the card to the young girl. It was a lovingly hand made card with a picture of her home town on the front.

(No worries :> )
Despite her exclamation about her mom needing more time to finish up, the child soon enough was gesturing for the brunette to follow her. "Oh, a family-present! Guess that means you won't want pictures in your underwear then?"
Once Jessie was able to start following along into the house, they'd leave behind the front door and the panel of wall that had black Fleur de Lis adorning it. It seemed that Mom was doing some shooting in the kitchen, which meant the living room was available.
As she entered through one side where a black couch was settled, the girl wandered up to a white lacey curtain and soon enough grabbed an edge and tugged on it until it parted to reveal the other half of the room. It was perhaps the pride of the sets in the household. The wall was decorated with record slip art and had an old fashined record player at one side, and a jukebox at the other. The floor had a furry white rug covering it, making the space seem even more lavish.
"Go ahead and make yourself comfortable, Jessie... you didn't bring any clothes... so I guess you will be borrowing from us, right?" Within moments, the child already was scouring the room, walking along the edges and seeming to look over the hardwood floor.
"...I think I have to get the dustpan..." she murmured as she spotted a small patch of floor covered with cat fur.

LizzyMoo I find this the easist way to tag someone tho if you would rather a traditional tag i can do that instead ^^' “Underwear?” Jessie’s mind seemed to blank for a few moments before she stuttered out, “No… no underwear for my aunt…. And even if I had a boyfriend I wouldn’t underwear for him either.” She didn’t realize that she dropped the word ‘picture’ from her stammering sentence. What have I got myself into? she thought as her mind tried to wrap around the idea of taking intimate photos with a professional photographer. Logically Jessie knew that there were many people who have had n***s professionally done but she didn’t think they actually happened. And yes she did realize just how naïve that thought process was. As her mind practically ran in circles, stuck on the thought of underwear pictures, Jessie had followed the young girl through the surprising and yet tasteful hall into what appeared to be the living room slash photo studio. She took in the very Happy Day’s vibe and nearly missed the comment about her outfit. “Wait! What?” She looked down at her sensible blue pumps paired with the cream slacks and the blue blouse. The simple silver banded watch matched her silver rimmed glasses. “But what’s wrong with what I’m wearing?” Jessie had slipped her contact case into her small hand bag as a possible change of appearance but she didn’t expect a full outfit change. Was this something specified by the gift card or was it something her aunt set up in advance? Could it be some convoluted plan of her mom’s to somehow get her a boyfriend? Sadly it wasn’t as farfetched as it seemed.

(You can keep quote-tagging me if you want, but just know that quoting me doesn't do anything. I turned off the quote-notifications forever ago because they annoyed me xd )
The child didn't even attempt to muffle her giggle. "No underwear for your photos? That's pretty brave of you to not want to wear underwear at all!" It was obvious she was teasing, but at the same time, this girl seemed a bit flustered as well.
The child practically trotted off, her shoes clopping against the hardwood floor as she vanished. When she came back, she had a small dustpan, a small hand-held broom, and a couple calendars.
"What you have on is nice... but it's the 'everyday' sort of nice. It's sensible, no glamour to it!" The pair of calendars were handed off to Jessie and soon enough the child was sweeping up a couple areas of the floor, banishing away Oasis' cat hair for the shoot.
"So that's part of what we do here! Dress you up so you look fabracular*... hair, make-up, clothes... we've got all that!"

((Kao told me that a moment before I opened the rp ^^' so im guessing a normal intread tag would work best then ~^.^~ and i love this Jessie has no idea what to expect XD))
Jessie’s eyes got big and a blush spread across her face as she realized what she had said. “No… that’s not… I didn’t mean… of course I will wear…” Jessie fell quiet as it became clear that there wasn’t really anything she could say to correct the mistake and shortly after the young girl headed out only to return with a few cleaning supplies and a few calendars.
No Glamour? Jessie thought her ensemble was appropriate for a formal photo but according to the young girl it was not quite up to standards. She nearly dropped the calendars when she was given them but held on to them, curious what they were for but not looking in them since she didn’t know if she was allowed. Jessie did her best to follow along with the conversation but was confused. “Fabracular?” She murmured to herself as the rest of the puzzles fell into place. “Oh so it’s kinda like one of those old time photo booths at amusement parks?” She remembered doing that once or twice with her Aunt when they would go to the local park. It wouldn’t be abnormal for her Aunt to want a similar picture since it would bring back many memories. Maybe this wouldn’t be so bad since the décor was very scotch hoppy… it wasn’t like she was going to be dressed like a pin up right?

The child was busying herself with cleaning, but at one point her oddly colored eyes glanced up and noticed something.
"I promise the calendars won't bite you, Jessie! Go ahead... look through them! They are samples!"
The brunette spoke of what was considered a sour subject for the child. With a mild scoff, she announced "Those 'old time photo booths' only wish they could be one 62nd of what we do here! Just one or two backdrops at most, no pampering, and maybe 3 or 4 photos total? Not worth it! No... what Mom does here is so much more fun!" With her childishly passionate rant out of the way, she resumed her cleaning duties, humming a bit as she went along, occasionally hopping forward as if she was making some sort of game out of the simple task.
With the area of floor soon enough being cleaned up, the child eventually stood up again and began to trot off yet again! She obviously had to put her little broom and dustpan away again.
However, when she was out of the room, she remembered something and shouted it across the house so anybody could hear it.
"By the way, I go by Mystery!!!!"

“Oh… ok…” Jessie fumbled a bit more with the calendars trying to situate them to look at them without dropping any but the young girl’s tirade grabbed her attention before Jessie was even able to look at the front page. 1/62nd? Part of her was curious to see what the percentage of that would be but she stifled the urge and focused on the important part of the rant. Pampering? Jessie started to ask just what she had gotten herself into when the young girl went back to cleaning and before she could formulate a question the child was gone. “Mystery? Got to be a nickname,” then again maybe not since it seemed to Jessie that she had stepped into the Twilight Zone. Jessie had never heard of a photo studio that pampered its clients but it wasn’t like Jessie went to have her picture taken every day.
With a mental shrug, after all she was already here and was not going to waste her Aunt’s present, Jesse started to look through the calendars. She quickly understood Mystery’s tirade. The child was right; this was nothing like those photo booths that Jessie remembered. This was a art form all by its self. And soon Jessie would be part of it… was it really too late to back out? She glanced down at her bag where she had placed the birthday card… yes, yes it really was too late now.

Eventually, the child had trotted back, rounding the brunette as she finally seemed to be looking over the calendars. In a spritely manner, she stepped about her, occasionally seeming to grow in height as she stood on her tiptoes to see what page Jessie was looking at in that particular moment.
It just so happened that the page Jessie was on was one of the more risque pictures, with the girl turned away very evidently in just her underwear and no bra. She seemed to be showing off an intricate tattoo sprawling across her shoulders.
Without skipping a beat, the child mentioned "I really liked that one, but Mom doesn't let me hang out when clients do those sorts of shoots. Says it makes them feel uncomfortable having someone my age around... but don't worry... she only does that sort of stuff if you ask her to."
Nimbly, she meandered to the nearby black couch and seemed to attempt sprawling herself upon it, but soon enough was caught by a mild scolding "You know you aren't supposed to sit like that, Mystery! You'll damage the cloth."
Towards the edge of the room, a pale haired woman with her hair tied back stood, gesturing a casual wave. "So you are Jessie? Aren't you a cutie!"
"Mom... Mom!! She said she wanted to take pictures without her underwear!" Mystery practically bounced off the couch and was clamoring to the photographer before flashing a cheeky smile to Jessie.

Although the calender picture was something she would never dare to do, the tattoo or the half naked picture, Jessie couldn't fault the lighting, composition, and general artistic content. She was about to go to the next page when the high voice of a child from over her shoulder made Jessie squeak in surprise. Mystery somehow snuck up on her and Jessie was not terribly happy with the young girl since it felt as if her heart was racing one hundred and fifty miles an hour. "Uh.... yeah..." Jessie tried to get her heart rate back to normal and her composure settled once more. She didn't get a chance to comment even further since a very chic lady walked in and scolded Mystery.
"Yes. Jessica Haze. I was just admiring your work. It takes a lot of skill even if I don't have the guts to do some of the poses that are there." Jessie gestured to the calenders that she left of the couch. She was approaching so they could shake hands when Mystery blurted out her version of the earlier event.
"No! Thats.... I didn't.... well I did... but thats.... " Jessie's face lit up as she stammered through her explanation. Mystery knew that that was not what Jessie meant and yet Jessie had the irrational urge to react like a five year-old and get into a 'yahun-nuhun' fight with her. Taking a deep breath and suppressing Jessie's inner child she tried to explain in complete sentences. "I meant that I didn't want to take photos in my underwear and somehow it came out as 'without underwear'" Jessie's face was still flaming but at least she got that little bit cleared up, she hoped.

Mystery giggled quite a bit as Jessie seemed to attempt saving face. Carolynn gave the brunette a sympathetic look before putting her whole hand upon the child's head. "I am sure she knew what you were talking about. She's hardly as innocent as she seems. Mystery just likes to make pretty girls blush by teasing them."
The woman's other hand slipped under the child's chin and soon enough moved the child's face to looking up at her. "Be nice!"
Another giggle escaped the child.
"Okie diddle!" Satisfied with her own response to her mother, she then clamored over to Jessie again. "Let's get you to the dressing room then!"
The pale-haired woman shook her head.
"...cool your jets!" She then gave her attention to the client. "Jessie... did you have any questions before we continue?"

Jessie blushed even brighter when Carolynn called her pretty. Jessie knew that she was plain but it was still a pleasant surprise when someone called her pretty. Brown hair, brown eyes, pale skin, and glasses did not a pretty girl make. “Um, well not really. I was expecting a normal photo shoot but I have a feeling that won’t be the case.” Jessie gestured to the 80’s themed backdrop and smiled nervously. “I just don’t really know what to expect.”
Jessie shrugged, “I was figuring it would be a simple picture I could send to my folks and to my Aunt who gave me the gift certificate but I guess I didn’t factor in my Aunt’s humor or my mom’s for that matter.” She glanced around her once more and broke out in a huge smile, “They would love this.”

In a manner almost like a chittering squirrel, the child soon enough blurted out "Oh, you won't be getting just 1 picture... you'll have at least 150 to choose from! Plenty for you to pick from! Lots and lots and lots to show off!" She let out a bubbly giggle before the photographer explained a bit more in depth.
"...my gift certificates are color coded, Jessie. You'll get a disk that has digital versions of the photographs. And five physical prints too, 8 by 10."
With that, she tapped the child on the head before mentioning "I need to get the makeup set up in the living room... Mystery can show you to the dressing area and we can get you ready." Thoughtfully she brought her tapping-finger to her chin.
"...you will need to strip down to your undergarments, then put a robe over it. We don't want to get your nice clothing all covered in makeup." With a casual gesture to the collar of her own shirt, she dusted it off.
"JESSIE! JESSIIIIIIIEEEE!! LET'S GET GOING!!!!" Without really asking permission, the child soon enough latched her hand onto the brunette's and soon enough was dragging her down the hallway.

“Oh.” Jessie looked surprised; again this place was tossing her idea of typical photo studio out the window. Who would she give the prints too anyway? Other than her aunt and folks, that is. Not really sure what to say or do Jessie just nodded. She understood the reasoning behind the request to strip but she still wasn’t able to suppress the blush that did spread across her cheeks once more. At least the reasoning behind it was for something more practical, like not wanting to get the outfit dirty. There had been many a time when Jessie was going to a forma function and held off getting dressed until her makeup was mostly done. It was just a completely different feeling to be half naked and having someone else do your makeup.
Jessie was in over her head and she barely had a chance to get the floor under her feet before the small tornado that was Mystery quite literally pulled her off her feet once more. With a look practically pleading for help, Jessie was dragged down the hallway by the child. “Mystery. Mystery slow down.” Falling or losing her shoes was not Jessie’s idea of fun.
