Wash surveyed the room one last time. The deep red curtain tinted the light that still filtered in from the setting sun, giving the room a warm, hazy glow. The bedspread had been replaced; black down comforter hiding blood red silk sheets. The rest of the furnishings had been cleaned, straightened, or covered - it looked more like a hotel room than the somewhat homely dormitory he was used to, and he almost felt unwelcome. These weren't really his colors - but they were hers.
That was all that mattered.
Nervously, he adjusted the collar of his midnight blue button up. Maybe he was overdoing it - hell, he'd never put this much effort into something like this before - but if there was one lesson he'd learned here, it was this: they weren't guaranteed tomorrow. He was afraid of what awaited them in Scotland, scared to his core. He was serious when he'd said he'd rather be with her - because he couldn't imagine being without her, again. Adrift in a sea, without an anchor. Nothing but that endless, terrible calm; the long wait for some kind of conclusion.
Everybody dies, he knew. But it wouldn't be tonight; and it might not be tomorrow.
After checking the silver-wrapped package on the bed, he left, shutting the door quietly behind him. He hoped she came here first when she got back - but surely there wasn't anywhere else for her to be. This had become their home, for better or worse.
this is kinna like a CYOA, wash is MIA and there is a silver wrapped package on the bed and the room has been redecorated OKAY GO PS I think we can do this in two parts for maximum pointage

Shopping had been far more exhausting than Sasha had planned, and all she wanted to do was take a shower and find Wash - not particularly in that order. There had been something soothing in knowing that he was waiting for her back on the island, and at times the thought of him had been the only thing that kept her temper from snapping completely.
"Wash?"
She called for him before the door was even open. Sasha paused as she took in the transformation the room had undergone. Her brow furrowed slightly as she stepped in and closed the door behind her. Each step that took her further into the room was smooth and purposeful - there was no hesitation in her step. Sasha was not the sort to accidentally step into someone else's room. There was never any doubt that this was, indeed, the room she shared with Wash. The only question was why?
There was something inexplicably wicked about the entire thing, and as Sasha caught sight of the silver-wrapped package on the bed, a slow, sinful smile curved her lips. This man was forever surprising her. Her man. She'd claimed him just as he'd claimed her, and she would destroy anyone that threatened what they had. That particular train of thought had her thinking about the planned visit to Scotland - and she immediately banished the thought from her mind.
"What are you up to, Mr. Becker," she purred softly as she reached for the package. Sasha traced her fingers along the wrapping before carefully opening it, entirely too curious to see what the silver paper hid from her.
The silver wrapping paper came off easily, and revealed a dark green box. It was about the length of her forearm, and read in embossed gold and white :
C H A M P A G N E Brut S Salon BLANC de BLANCS Le Mesnil PRODUCE of FRANCE
However, the box seemed too light for what appeared to be a bottle of sparkling wine. A dark black ribbon snaked around it's outside, keeping the lid closed and hiding its contents from view.

Brushing her fingers across the label, Sasha's brows rose. She knew little of the world of champagne, but the embossing and the sturdy box itself led Sasha to believe that this wasn't some sort of cheap drink - or, at least, what the box had originally housed hadn't been cheap.
The weight of the box itself didn't quite match up to a bottle of champagne, and curiously Sasha slipped the black ribbon free.
The ribbon fell away, and the case opened easily. As may have been expected, its velvet-lined interior was empty - but there was a note, and a small bottle of perfume.
Acquired x1 Bottle of Perfume It's label reads 'Acqua di Parma Iris Nobile Sublime.
Acquired x1 Champange Box Note The note is fresh and crisp, but there are pen impressions that indicate it was rewritten a few times.
Quote:
Sasha, I hope you all had fun on your adventure. Thank you for being so kind to Jerry, I am sure he appreciated it. Since you probably didn't have time to pamper yourself, I took the liberty of picking some things up for you. I hope you like them.
Love, Wash
PS - Check the closet.

The bottle was ignored in lieu of the note. It took her only a moment to read it, and she paused to draw in the tactile sensation of her fingers against the divots in the paper. He was such a purposeful man, staid and strong, and thinking about him painstakingly writing the note caused the corners of her lips to curl.
She set the note back in the box before reaching for the perfume. Uncapping the decanter, Sasha lifted the bottle to her nose - it was delicate, with floral notes and an underlying citrus that had her sighing happily.
After meagerly dabbing behind her ears, she capped the perfume and wandered towards the closet. Her tongue traced the scar that bisected her upper lip as she hesitated in opening the door. She wasn't sure what she'd find, but the anticipation was sinfully thrilling. Sasha wanted to savor it, just for a moment.
A few seconds passed before she opened the door, a soft smile curving her lips.
There were several things that might seem out of place in the closet.
The first, was Wash's coat - it hung in the front of his side of the closet. The brown leather jacket hadn't seen much use, now that he had a hunter coat, but it was lopsided as if it had been hastily put back. There was a small corner of paper peeking out of the visible coat pocket.
The second was an opague dress bag hanging from Sasha's side of the closet.
The third and final item was the shoebox placed in the center of the closet's floor. It had a folded note taped to it's top.

we are investigating the shoebox
Sasha took a moment to glance about the closet. She drifted her fingers across the seasoned brown leather of Wash's jacket first and foremost; the small piece of paper that she could see was given a cursory look. From there her attention went to the dress bag.
It was the shoebox that captivated her.
Kneeling, Sasha reached down to lift the folded note from the top of the box so that she could read it before opening the box.
The shoes were gorgeous, and they were something she would have chosen for herself. She took a moment to set them aside before she turned to the opaque dress bag that seemed utterly at home hanging in her side (or three-quarters) of the closet.
Sasha curiously reached for it, though she found herself briefly distracted by the paper that was tucked into the pocket of Wash's jacket. She bit her lip and withdrew the paper.
It turned out to be a bundle of small papers - receipts.
The store names remained, but the amount charged had been blanked out - minus the € .
L'Eclaireur, Biodini, Acqua di Parma - and on this last, a small note.
No cheating.

we are investigating the dress bag thing
A giggle - yes, a giggle - couldn't be choked back, and Sasha was still grinning when she went to open the dress bag. The receipts were neatly tucked back into the pocket where they'd been before she reached for the dress bag.
