Nellene's neck arched as she examined herself coldly in the reflection of the water. She couldn't consider herself pretty, she hardly considered anything pretty. Her appearance was so much like that of the pathetic animals that roamed the lands and spent much of their time eating and defecating. It made her sick to look at herself at times. But she supposed she had figured out a way to use it to her advantage. Without her trustworthy appearance she would hardly have been able to survive. Still, she hissed at her reflection and stomped a hoof in the water with distaste.
After getting over her disgust, her appetite slowly returned and her stomach growled. It was time to put these good looks to use. She pinned her leathery wings to her side carefully, checking to make sure that they would not give her away. Cows didn't have wings. They were the one thing she was proud of besides her sharp, angry looking teeth. They were the things that separated her from being a stupid, waste-of-space cow. But when it was time for dinner, these things were a hinderance to her, so she hid them now as she prepared for the hunt. It wasn't hunting so much as it was setting a trap and waiting for something to take the bait. All she had to do was act like one of those pitiful creatures and she would have her meal sooner than she could say "Moo."
