Sakari absolutely adored summertime. Everything was so bright and beautiful…and warm. Stretching the ursataur yawned lightly before flicking a nose. “Hey, hey. Wake up sleepy one.” The tease only served to brighten her smile as the young foxtaur rolled over away from the source of torment. It delighted Sakari to poke at him repeatedly before he would finally give in and try to wake up. She saw no point in wasting precious time in the wonderful sunlight! Even if it was just rising…
Reflecting the sun’s own light were a pair of golden eyes which sleepily glared at the female, “Go away.” Still he made a move to sit up while still rubbing his hands through his unruly hair. Why had he decided to spend the night in the forest again? Oh. Blinking he looked at the spread of parchment lying about. “I fell asleep again didn’t I?”
“Yep!” Laughing Sakari leaned back on her staff, “Aren’t you glad I stayed to watch over you before Camellia came back to get angry again?” The female cattaur hated the fact that the sanctuary of her ursataur friend was lately invaded by the strange green foxtaur who wished to actually work on drawing the things found there. Sakari was delighted though. She enjoyed helping Leif to pick out new herbs and such to draw in his studies. His father apparently loved making maps and as much as she would love a map made of the forest Camellia would throw a fit. Maybe one day though…maybe just maybe she could sneak by with it. “But I’m setting up for some morning tea and such. You want some sleepy head?”
Groaning Leif stretched backwards and let out a sigh of gathering for the two of them after all. But first he needed to fix the mess that he had left. Reaching out the foxtaur began to stack his work back into a more organized pile while the ursataur disappeared into the cave which was hidden in the same meadow by walls of ivy and shrubs.

"Taioooomaaaaah..." the curly-headed foxtaur whined as she followed a large cuddly-looking ursa along a path. "I'm hungry. Why are we up so early? It's barely sunrise. I want food."Taiomah chuckled good-naturedly. Alianna had taken to following him around during his meanderings, but she still hadn't learned much patience. "You wanted to learn to fish, remember? And this is a good time to do it, the fish are rather unsuspecting. Besides, I like to watch the sun rise and the colors of the sky change, even if it is quite early during summer... but we can't sleep our whole life away, can we? We've got to make the most of each day!""Says the guy who practically hibernates every winter..." Ali grumbled, but despite her complaining, she did enjoy every moment she spent with the ursataur. Besides Evi and Eli, Tai was one of her favorite taur - well, there were a few others that she hadn't gotten to see in a while, like - "Leif!" she exclaimed as they entered a clearing in the forest. She bounded over to him, grinning and temporarily forgetting her hunger. "What are you doing here?"Meanwhile, Tai looked around, slightly perplexed. This wasn't supposed to be on the way to that spot in the river that was great for fishing. Muttering to himself about the path they had come up on and turns they had taken, he grabbed a fallen branch and tried to map out in the dirt where he had gone wrong.

Leif had been studying one of the works he had put together last night with a small frown. Should he have sketched it that way? The edge of the leaves were actually supposed to be a bit more rough from the sample had had found yesterday. "I'll have to fix you in a bit." He commented with a sigh. Another error meant another night of drying out the same page again. He might actually be coming home later than he originally planned. The young foxtaur had never really realized the vast amounts of life in the forest until Sakari had started helping him.
He was so lost in his thoughts that the sudden exclamation made the fox jump in surprise. Could it be? Really? Annoyance quickly vanished into a happy smile as Leif looked up, "Ali..." Putting down the parchment he quickly stood and straightened up so that he could get a better look at the lovely foxtaur who made his heart jump. Both in surprise and happiness from finally seeing her again. "Working on making references of plant life. What are you doing here?" He frowned quietly as he noticed the ursataur with her. Had they met before?
The eruption of surprise from behind him though startled him even more.
"Tai!" Sakari nearly had dropped the two cups of tea which she was holding. It was, it was! Happily the ursataur rushed up to meet her dear friend, "What brings you out here?" Her gaze shone with energy, "I mean if I had known I would have made more cups of tea..." Flushing lightly she suddenly remembered Leif and handed him his cup while he just blinked at her in surprise.
Just what was going on with this random encounter?

"References?" Alianna tilted her head questioningly. "Oh, Tai was going to teach me how to fish. Which would have been great if we didn't have to get up so early and could have eaten something beforehand, and I think we got lost because Tai never mentioned there being a clearing on the path to the river!" She shook her head tiredly, her bouncing curls making her seem more lively than she felt. Then suddenly there was Sakari and she jumped slightly, then smiled at the ursa reunion.
"But, why are you doing stuff with plant life?" she asked, turning her attention back to Leif. Her nose wrinkled in curiosity as she moved closer to look at the pages near his feet.
"Sakari?" Taiomah exclaimed. Huh. He had just been thinking about her and... well, maybe the forest had decided to lead him (and Ali, apparently) on a different path today. "I- we- Alianna and I were um, supposed to go fishing..." He blushed slightly in embarrassment, trying to calm himself so that he would stop stuttering like a smitten adolescent, considering he was long past those years. "It appears I lost my way." He smiled, enjoying just the sight of Sakari, one that he had long missed. "But I think this unexpected meeting makes up for it. Oh - we're not troubling you two by interrupting anything, are we?" He looked between the two, unsure if he knew the green foxtaur personally or if he seemed familiar from Ali's retellings.

“For research books.” Leif smiled warmly, “I guess I inherited the bookworm bug from my father, but I wanted to make some herbal reference books for some family friends who are good healers. Secretly I want to try mapping this forest, but it feels like it keeps changing around me.” He laughed, “That’s why I got Sakari’s help. She’s lived here her whole life.”
The foxtaur’s tail twitched with amusement, “On the way to go fishing? The path to the river?” Leif looked around thoughtfully, it really was like this forest changed every night! “I think it was a bit further towards the south though you can get there this way too.” His hand though reached up to free a small leaf from Ali’s golden curls. “Do you want some food then since you haven’t eaten yet?”
Sakari beamed brightly at the other ursataur. She really had missed him! The cup of tea was left on the ground as she reached out to hug Taiomah. “Fishing sounds like fun! But you really did veer a bit off course.” She laughed softly before pulling back though her hands stayed on his shoulders as she talked, “Then again the forest could be playing tricks on you.” She quickly shook her head at his question, “Not at all! I was just making tea for Leif and me.” She paused and looked over towards the foxtaurs, “He’s sketching herbs for some friends and secretly trying to map this area too~ I’m not supposed to know about that part though.” She grinned, "I trust him that he won’t give it to the wrong taurs.” As she watched Leif the ursataur was intrigued. Normally he was nice, but always so distant because of how much he got absorbed in his work. But the other foxtaur completely had his attention. It did seem like the other two knew each other. Hadn’t she heard him mention an Alianna before?
