Apparently the time had come. It was bittersweet and yet at the same time fulfilling in a way. The mare watched her familiar from the corner of her eye before turning her attention to the young stallion that stood a few feet meters away and slightly in front of her. Her son had been determined to leave but Coda had always found a way to stall Draco from doing so ... that was until today. He had lost his temper and stormed off a ways to cool down. When he had come back Coda realized that this time, she could not stall him anymore. He was ready to leave and she would have to let him. Mixed emotions played over her features as her son made his way to stand near her.
"Is there nothing I can say to make you stay just one day longer?"

He needed to go; the faster the better. Draco took in the familiar sights of his home before turning to the last obstacle in his path towards freedom and the open lands beyond. He gulped as he took in the form of the mare that had raised him before sighing. Already his mother had delayed his journey's start by at least a few days by playing the guilt card on him. Today was going to be different. Nothing that Coda said would stop him from leaving. He took in the expressions that flickered over his mother's face before sighing. It would not work this time. She would not make him feel guilty for leaving.
Draco paced towards Coda in time to hear her question. He reached over and let his neck rest over her own. His words, when he spoke, were soft but sure, "I can't stay here any longer. I need to go out and see other places besides what we call home. You can't hold me back anymore."

At the sensation of Draco's neck resting over her mane Coda sighed with regret. She knew then that her son was not the little foal that she had raised at Illarion's side. The reality that came with the realization was like a sharp poke in her ribs. She could no longer watch over Draco as she had always done. Her son would have to learn how to fend for himself as she would not be there to do so any longer. With a gentle sidestep Coda pulled out from her son's embrace and nodded. "I understand my son. Go forth then with my blessing."
Coda moved to the side so that Draco would have a straight line to travel out of the area. As Draco passed her she whispered to him in soft tones, "Do not be a stranger though. You will always be welcomed back."

Draco felt a small pinch of guilt stab his heart as he felt his mother pull away from him. Her expression looked like that of a wounded creature. However she had moved herself off to the side and had provided him with an open lane of travel. He swung his gaze to take in the lands that he'd resided in since his birth: to the glittering ocean and beyond. What lay in front of him now would be the grand adventure he had begun to yearn for. Hearing his mom give him her blessing lightened the guilt just a little. Draco stepped forward, drawing away from Coda's form.
He pranced uneasily for a moment as he caught the rest of his mother's words before he took off in a gallop. He was finally off. A rather loud nickering sound made its way out through his lips before he could stop it. Dreaming of this moment had not done it justice. He was now free to explore; to do what he wanted and when he wanted to do it. He stopped for a moment and turned his gaze back towards the figure seemingly standing statue still watching him before he took off again.
