Nuivian stretched his arms, holding them high overhead. He had given dragon hunting a little bit of time off, letting his bad luck hopefully stay home with the rest of his wounded pride. When he had gotten home after his first two attempts he couldn’t help but feel a little more withdrawn than usual, his sour attitude probably letting his parents know exactly how dragon hunting had gone and how they shouldn’t bring it up any time soon.
But he couldn’t stay away forever. Nuivian wasn’t one to just let himself be taken advantage of like that Ysali dragon had, and he sure as hell wasn’t one to let himself be open to mockery and teasing from the others around him. He didn’t want to return empty handed today, and if he could just beat one he could play off dragon hunting as something he had pulled off easily.
He was back in the forests, searching for a Ysali dragon, inwardly hoping it was the same one from the other day. Oh how he would love to get back at that thing. He continued his trek into a thicker part of the forest and climbed over fallen trees, rocks, and roots as he went. He had just climbed over another set of roots when he spotted it.
He pulled out the small dagger he had been hiding in his robes and had to plan his strategy. How was he going to do it this time? Sneaking hadn’t seemed to work, he hadn’t really tried charging in, but again, that wasn’t really his style. It just seemed like too much effort. He decided to try sneaking just one more time. Maybe he just wasn’t paying enough attention.
He circled around to the back of the dragon once again and shifted his footing, now creeping in on the dragon. As he got closer he lunged with his blade, aiming for the throat. The dragon whipped around in his direction as he advanced and with a swish of its tail he was thrown back into a nearby tree. The dragon took off into the sky, leaving a miserable and sore Nuivian behind it.
