This was only her second time in the Tale and she hoped it would be as amusing as the first! It was a different part of the borderlands and a different time of year by a whole two weeks or so. Travelling was fun!
She hopped down from her tree Perch where the forest began to thin into a Jahuarian grassy forest, a land of blue trees and small shrubs and sunlight.
She had no idea where she was in relation to another sentient creature and she didn't care because hey, who knew what could happen.
Whatever it was, she hoped it was fun. Hey! Maybe she'd run into another earthling! A male, maybe. Or, better yet, a female! She hadn't ever met a fullblooded earthling female. She'd heard they were shorter, which wasn't encouraging because she liked tall girls but hey, there was plenty of Kaalnia to go around, and she wasn't going to be picky. Every woman had a right to Kaalnia. They just hadn't realized it yet.
Men didn't even register on her radar as anything more than potential chilling buddies, but that didn't mean that the thought of finding one out here didn't whet her appetite for adventure... just in the finding-an-exotic-animal sort of way.
"Whoooo." she said, staring into the bright forest, "Today's gonna be a good day, I know it."

Tau had just left the only known source of open water in Tale, his usual spot for applying his body paint. He had to make sure he looked good now. It was a little out of the way, but hey, whatever it took. His little brother was at home with his mother; she seemed to have a problem with him applying paint all over Taye, and tried to keep him at home while Tau was out. Too bad the little man was just like him.
He sighed at his mother's constant scolding. He's too young, she says. Meh, never too young to look good.
Tau's morning routine put him close to the edge of the forest and he could see something in the distance. The shape was all too familiar. Another Alkidike. How did he keep running into these women? Did they always get lost? Must be because they have no men around.
After his first encounter he was anything but afraid, and for someone so tall and strange, he guessed she could be considered cute. He didn't know how to judge an Alkidike by her appearance, they just weren't his type, but hey, didn't mean there wasn't enough Tau to go around.
"Hey there sweet thang. You lose your way so far from home?" He leaned his arm up against a tree and cocked his hips. Mmmm yeah, that will work nicely.

She'd been admiring some of the fern-like plants that grew here in the borderlands. They were so colorful! Maybe if she wore a few on her head, they would make her antennae seem bigger, or thicker, or generally better? Then maybe some ladies would come to her and she could show them just what they were missing. It was all about looking good, right? It would make her really stand out...
Nah. Damn thing would rot, wouldn't it. Well, she could at least make it into a bouquet or something silly like that. It was too meek for an alkidike, but if she found an earthling lady, maybe they'd like it...
Nah, flowers would be better. They smelled good. See, she knew things about women. They liked color and nice smells.
A voice startled her from her ponderings, and she looked up to see... an AMAZING headress. Oh yeah, that was what she was talking about. It was big. It was flashy. It got you noticed. It would be PERFECT.
Then she looked at the person wearing it and couldn't help a bit of disappointment.
"Oh." she said, finally, "You're a man." She smiled sheepishly after some staring, "Nah, I'm not lost... Just was hopin' you'd be some saucy earthling chick, with those feathers of yours." They were so impressive! But disappointment was disappointment, and hey- hadn't she wanted to see a male today? "Whatever." she said, grinning broadly, her hand on her hip, "The name's Kaalnia. How's it hanging?" Just because he wasn't a lady didn't mean she couldn't be friendly, after all!

The woman was looking at plants. How quaint. It's what he would have expected from her anyways. Probably looking to make herself look prettier with some flowers or something.
When he finally got her attention, he saw her eyes first meet with his headdress. Ah yes, take it all in first. She probably liked what she saw. But the words that came out of her mouth had him a little disappointed; and from what he could make of it, disappointment was a feeling all around right now.
Saucy earth... chick? Mmmm this wouldn't do. The Alkidike in front of him was interested in other women. He sighed. His advances would have no effect. Damn. And here he thought he was on a roll for once.
"Yeah, I saw you eyeballing this beauty right here." He pointed his thumb at his headdress. "No doubt the rest of the package caught your eye as well." He motioned to the whole of his body. He was mostly talking about his clothing, but if he could sway her to bat for the other team, all the better. He grinned back, a little bit of a smirk lingering on the edges. "I'm Tau, and you must like what you see. Nice to meet another Alkidike woman out here in Tale."

Thankfully for Tau, Kaalnia had had plenty of time (two weeks was plenty for her, sure!) to get over the BY AISHA'S BOUGHS WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS POOR WOMAN'S BODY phase of meeting males. Now she just could consider them 'bizzarely angled' bodies. With no boobs. Which sucked. Not that Tau wasn't the second male she had seen. Her experience was lacking. But she figured that males looked like other males. She didn't need to see them all to tell the difference. "It's really neat!" she commented on the headdress. Her eyes followed his gesture, curious to what he meant by package. Her eyes widened. "Wait, wait." she leaned in closer. Earthlings didn't have markings, did they? No. That was what she had heard, anyway. But this one did. No wait! "Whoa, is that paint?!" she exclaimed. So awesome! "Oh man, why didn't I think of that?!" she said, groaning with chagrin. "Women love paint. I think its the colors, or it stands out." she tried to think about it. Thinking and putting thoughts to words was difficult sometimes, especially with women. "Dunno." She let her eyes drift down all the way to his feet. "wow, wait, you have paint everywhere?! That's a lot to paint on..." she hesitated before whispering conspiratorially, "Does it work?"

Tau huffed up his chest in pride. Of course! If she was interested in other women than she would be totally in awe of his good looks. It was about time someone gave him the appreciation he deserved! Damn, if only this Alkidike were into men, he would have it made right now. She was practically fawning over him. Mmmm.
He crossed his arms in attitude and threw her an awkward grin. "You better believe it works." He pointed a thumb at himself. "If the headdress doesn't do it, the paint reels them in faster than you can catch a spitorog." Of course he was bluffing, in all honesty the girls around here didn't even look at him... but she didn't need to know that. Besides, eventually it would work, and he would be swarmed by women to the point of having a hard time choosing.
And he could only imagine that would happen very soon. The women of the village were probably talking about him right now, telling themselves that he was one fine piece of man meat.
"I mean, your markings are nice and all, but they could probably use some accentuation to really get them going." He eyeballed the Alkidike's markings... stopping briefly at her chest - as it was only natural - and quickly looking away. Damn, Alkidike women seemed to come with a better rack than most earthlings, and they didn't even need them. It was almost unfair.

Frankly, he could have kept staring at her chest. Kaalnia wouldn't have noticed, and if she did, she wouldn't have cared. Much. And even if she had cared, it wouldn't have been insulting. I mean, obviously he would be envious. It was the main thing he was missing... the main thing she knew about anyway. She really knew nothing about men aside from the fact that they weren't women and not her thing. "Like some red, maybe? Blue?" her mind was cooking. Accentuation- she wouldn't need too much, would she? She observed herself as well, turning to get a look at the markings on her back. Not that she didn't look at herself regularly. She was damn sexy, and she knew it! Sure they said that she more annoying than a spitorog that was on fire, but her sister Alkidikes were saying that affectionately, she was sure. They were tough and scrappy, so of course they'd play hard to get. But eventually, eventually they'd give in. She bet they were talking about her right now back on the isles! "What do you think? Maybe a few markings here and there, something on my face? Around some of the markings?" this was exciting! A new thing to add to her repertoire!

Tau bent in closer to look at the markings Kaalnia was sporting. It was almost a shame really that Alkdike were born with markings. They were dealt whatever their Aisha felt they should get, and they couldn't change that, unless of course they spent even longer than Tau in the morning, putting on makeup to cover what they didn't like. Tau thought a moment; damn, that would be tricky.
"Well, it's a good thing you already have something of a decent base to work off of. I would say red. Stand out, get noticed. Make them look. The women love it." Tau grinned and motioned to his own markings again.
Red was a bit harder to find in Tale, so it made sense that Tau went with blue, but in Jauhar, even though he had never been there, he had heard that their were trees with red and even their dirt was a reddish color. Must be easy to get some decent paint going there.
"Put red around the markings you have, make it pop." Tau wasn't too used to giving suggestions, he usually only had himself to talk to, so he wanted to make sure he made it look like he knew what he was talking about.

"Red?" ooo, that would look great, especially if she put it on her face. She wanted eyes to look there, then travel all the way down as needed. "That would be great! I could put a few stripes on my face..." she poked one of her cheeks, "I don't have much up there..." or at her chest, for that matter. She had a few well-placed eye-drawing markings on her chest,but... "And a few here, too..." she said, absentmindedly brushing her neck. "But what about black for these?" she said, tracing the circles at her shoulder, "Too much, maybe?" She had no idea how to make this paint, to be honest, but this guy probably did. She would have to remember to ask.

Tau eyeballed Kaalnia, following her words and stopping at her chest for more than a few seconds. So much potential, and it was all wasted. Damn.
He scratched his head, pulling on the headdress he was wearing and taking it off for a second to think. "Nah, too much." He laughed at himself; he probably sounded mighty girly putting so much thought into colors and fashion. "You don't want to scream at them with the paint. Black's gonna drive the girls away. They like pretty colors." Tau shrugged before putting the headdress back on and securing it in place.
He nodded to himself as if he had just shed some earth shattering truth to Kaalnia. Of course she wasn't as well versed in woman as Tau was, so everything he said was probably earth shattering news. Maybe if he shed enough light on her situation, she would find men to be easier and just go for Tau. It would only be the reasonable thing to do, obviously.

"Oh" Well, she certainly didn't want to intimidate anybody away. Alkidikes might be strong women who liked strong colors and people, but she wanted to make herself all-women accessible. Kaalnia was not out of anybody's league, because that wasn't very nice and all women deserved to be graced by her presence. "It'd have to be a light red, then. Red's pretty loud." She liked red though. Maybe a little bright red on the face, but...But red was pretty! But this guy seemed to know what he was talking about. "So how do you make these..." She noticed him staring at her chest and looked down. Was there something on there? No, she realized, he didn't have that. She smiled sympathetically. "Jealous, huh?" Oh no! She shouldn't have made him self concious like that! It wasn't very nice to draw attention to what someone was lacking! In fact, it was downright rude and mean and Kaalnia felt terrible. "Not that you don't have a nice chest too!" she said quickly, not quite sure if she was telling the truth. He did have fairly well defined muscles there, and his paint helped, but "I mean, your paint makes it look bigger and stronger so, you know... uh..." yeah, she felt terrible, "... I shouldn't have mentioned it, sorry bro."

Tau laughed heartily at Kaalnia's comments. Jealous? Ha. What a funny girl this was. Again, too bad she wasn't interested. But they could still make a great team yet. "Jealous? You're kidding, right? You have a nice chest alright, but it's not the kind I would want to have on myself. Well, who knows, I'd probably have a lot of fun if I had a pair on me." He pretended to cup imaginary breasts and laughed. Tau had never even touched breasts, no doubt he would have no clue what to do with them, but whatever. A man could dream, right?
He laughed even harder as Kaalnia's cover up sunk in. "Well, I'm hoping mine gets bigger with some work." He flexed what little pecks he had. "But they're not going to be soft. I want them rock hard and strong looking. I'm a man after all. I want the ladies to call me Beefcake." He winked at Kaalnia. Maybe if Tau didn't use all of his time on his makeup he would have more time to actually bulk up and look even better than he did now. That was a thought.
He scratched his head. "Well, most of mine I buy since they take so damn long, but I did learn how to make a green color. I only pull it out on special occassions though."

Oh good she hadn't made him feel bad. That was reassuring! She didn't want to upset a potential new friend, especially one as awesome as this guy was. "Probably!" She said, grinning. She'd never thought of her own breasts as 'fun', though that was an interesting idea, actually. Tzofi hadn't let her get that far, either. So she was as in the dark as he was. "Ooo, muscles! Yeah, chicks DIG muscles! They really want someone big and strong to be their hero, you know?" Yeah, definitely. Muscles could make up for his lack of breasts, sure. "If you put a dark color there..." she tapped the space between his pecs, "And here" she tapped his abs, "You'd look really big and chiseled, and they just love that, don't they?"
She looked at her skin. "I could use a green. Make a great little accent on me, wouldn't it?" her mind was going wild with the possibilities, "but why only for special occasions? You've got nice green eyes, why wouldn't ya want some green on you more of the time? To, ya know, bring it out a bit?" Not everywhere, though. If he had too much green then that wouldn't work. Like her, she realized. She couldn't use a lot of black because that would interfere with her lovely black eyes. But a little black...
Eeeee she just loved the ideas she was getting! This was totally gonna be a life changer, she knew it!

Tau smirked with Kaalnia's first comment and flexed his biceps, wiggling his eyebrows as he went. He didn't have much going on, but he was a boy, so he did have some muscle, what from climbing trees, running, playing when he was younger; nothing spectacular, but he definitely wasn't soft. He could be a chick's hero.
He laughed at Kaalnia's tapping and batted her hand away playfully. "I would rather have the really cut muscles than to trick them with more paint." He continued to laugh, and poked his own stomach. "Lying doesn't do much good when it gets time to start touching." Tau made grabby hands in the air as he spoke, accentuating his words.
He looked her over once more. "Green would be nice. Subtle with the green you already have." He rubbed the back of his head and sighed. "It just takes so long to make, I don't want to have to make more so soon. So - special occasions only." He chuckled.

"Well, yeah, but if you touch them just right... they won't notice!" she said, winking and mimicing the grabby gesture. Honestly. She had no idea what she was talking about. "And it wouldn't be a lie" she shrugged, "Just an exaggeration!" Totally! Because lying wasn't a good idea. Chicks hated lying, but they wanted to be lied to! It was so confusing but SHE had a handle on it. And so did he! This was so cool! "I guess its better to have the real thing though." he did have nice 'ceps. So did she, but that was from spearwielding and all. "Not everybody can be lucky enough to have natural charm like us!" she said, grinning, hands on hips. They were pretty similar, this man and her. Oooo crap! "Hold up, whats your name?" aww man, she had totally blanked out there! "Also, do you dance?" Very important question, that.
