[rp between my Fsi-Toyo and Leth's Shahidi]
Fsi grumbled. This…wasn’t supposed to happen! He had bedded many lionesses before and none had…this! From up on a hill, the dark lion’s eyes roamed down below. There Shahidi was with five balls of fur. The lion shuddered, narrowing his eyes. He hadn’t been there to help the female deliver, nor had he actually gone to see what she had. He did know one thing for sure though, they definitely were his cubs. The two lions could be seen in both coloration and markings.
Rising to his feet, the lion sniffed the ear, growling. He trotted down from his perch, approaching the new mother.
“What are they?” He demanded, not necessarily to know they were cubs (he wasn’t that stupid), but rather, what genders he now how to deal with. Fsi-Toyo didn’t know if he could handle if he hadn’t at least produced mostly males.

The long stretch of time she'd spent with Fsi had been... something of a walking nightmare. At least, in the beginning that was certainly how she'd describe it if anyone had ever bothered asking. But of course no one had... Fsi avoided other lions if he could help it. Lately it'd been more of... of... it was like she was stuck in this alternate reality and if only she could shake herself into the right reality she could be done with it all.
She'd gotten pregnant. For all the days she lay awake while exhausted and cursing herself she had just as many where she felt secretly thrilled and very much joy at being a mother. The joy was always dampened with the knowledge of who'd fathered her cubs... and the despair was always brightened by the sole fact she was bringing new life into the world.
Labor had been terrifying and long... even more exhausting than all of the days with Fsi combined. It had been worth it though... and already she couldn't recall quite exactly the sort of pain her body had gone through. There were five beautiful little new borns tucked safely against her side. When she heard Fsi's voice her body tensed, and she found herself curling just slightly more around them. She couldn't help that her fur bristled or that the need to protect her cubs had just shot up about a thousand times hire. She almost wanted to give him a snarky response, but knew better than that.
"...." But should she lie? He would not like having so many girls, she already knew. "Four females and a strong little male." Though she sounded very proud, there was also a hint of fear in her voice. She kept her gaze on his legs, nothing higher.

Orange eyes narrowed at her quietness. He was about the snarl, but she had answered her question.
Unfortunately, it wasn’t the answer he was looking for. Four girls, and a ‘strong little male’. She was no judge of the little male’s strength. After all, “it’s just a newborn. How can you say how strong he will be.” He growled, obviously not happy with the litter. It should have been the other way around. Or, better yet, no females at all.
Actually, what would have been better if there was no cubs! Then, he wouldn’t have any competition in the future. He could destroy the cubs now, while the mother was weak…but he thought against it.
“Do not hide them from me.” He ordered, staring down. “Let me see them.”
