Auster felt like he was going crazy. Izefiah was gone, and he knew not where. Mahdi had also gone off on one of her adventures and who knew when she would return as well. He was alone, for the most part. Adaeze was still around, but even she had been scarce lately. Auster was alone with his thoughts, and he did not like that.
He did not like it one bit.

Neela had gotten a bad feeling she couldn't explain, it was just one of those gut feelings she had to look into. Without telling Zach where she'd run off too she had gone to find Izefiah. Tramping through the trees, she called for her friend. "Izzy! Izzy where are you?"

Drinking from the cool river, Auster thought he heard something approaching. Lifting his head from the water, he frowned, swiveling his ears to hear better. Someone was definitely approaching, and they weren't exactly being subtle about it.
He straightened and turned in the direction, waiting to see who it was and if they were a threat.

"Dang it Izzy if you don't answer me I'm going.. I don't know yet, but I'm gonna do something bad to you.." She stumbled out near the river and blinked at the stallion before her. "Oh sorry.. I was just looking for a friend."

Auster stood tall and proud, looking down his nose at the mare before him. She was a ground mare, with rather... interesting spikes along her legs. Barely managing to refrain from wrinkling his nose at her, he settled his great wings upon his back.
"I see," he said, his voice a rumble. "Well, as I do not know you, I am clearly not your friend."

Neela couldn't help but roll her eyes. "Obviously. You're nothing like Izzy anyway." She made her way past him and started to cross the river, mumbling about how she was gonna ground him or something horrible.

Auster snorted, tossing his mane. If he'd been younger and less snooty, he may have rolled his own eyes as well. He watched her walk past with blue eyes much like Iz's own, only much colder.
"Izzy," he repeated, obviously not liking the sound of it. "Such a childish name." He was talking more to himself than to her, but said it loud enough for her to hear.

"It's called a nickname. I mean going calling Izefiah all the time is kind of a mouthful. Not that it's your business."

Auster clearly froze, taken aback when she spoke his son's name. It took a moment for him to gather his wits back around him, but once he did, he stepped toward her quickly, perhaps coming off a bit threatening.
"Izefiah is his name, and I would appreciate if you did take the time to call him that," he snapped. "What do you want with my son?"

Neela paused part way across the river and turned her head to look at the stallion behind her. This could not be happening right now. "Your son?" She turned around to face the stallion almost twice her size. "You're telling me you're the piss poor excuse of a father I've heard about?" She actually took a few steps toward him. "You ruined your son, who has such a caring heart and turned him against his friends. You turned him against me. I call him Izzy because that's what FRIENDS do, they have silly names for each other, it's a form of showing care and affection which you obviously know nothing about. What I want with him at this moment is my business, I don't have to explain a damn thing to the likes of you."

Auster was clearly not used to being spoke to like that. He frowned down at the mare, his brows coming together as she took a few steps toward him. He did not back away however.
"I have done nothing except for try to raise that boy properly. Obviously I failed, since he has turned out to be such an ungrateful little brat," he spat the words out, but the venom in them wasn't meant for Neela. No, it was meant for Izefiah, or even himself for clearly being such a failure.
He lowered his head to look her in the eyes and glare at her further. "You must be Neela. The wingless mare."

"Wingless? You mean I don't have wings? I never knew, thanks for informing me! And yes, that's who I am. Sorry I don't remember yours, I guess that's because I don't care. You taught him all the wrong things, that's why you failed. Maybe he's ungrateful because you haven't given him one thing to be grateful for." She actually formed a grin on her face though. "I bet it must really stick in your craw that your son chose someone without wings over you."

Auster narrowed his eyes at her sarcasm, not appreciating it in the least. "Excuse me, Miss Neela," he said his voice gone icy cold and the contempt clearly on his face. "I believe if any one here is the cause of Izefiah's current behaviour, it would be you." His nostrils flared out. "He was never so disobedient before he met you. He was a good boy; he listened to his father. He most certainly never spoke back. I can see that he learnt that from you."
Shaking his mane, Auster straightened once more. "I do believe he chose neither of us, actually. I do not know where he is, and neither do you apparently. He's gone."

"Oh please. I'm actually not like this normally, I guess that's just how much I hate you. You and I also have different ideas of 'disobedience'. I'm sure yours has to do with hanging out with wingless folks like myself. I showed him that everyone has value, and no one is better than another just for having certain attributes. Yes you have big fancy wings, but I still put you at the bottom. Below me, even below some of the minis in this world. You're nothing but a selfish arrogant coward hiding behind some feathers. You feel the need to belittle others to make yourself feel better. And I think that's just sad."
Neela really wanted to headbutt this jerk but even though she'd stand her ground, it probably wasn't an extremely intelligent idea to start that with someone of his size. "You're right, I don't know where he is. But I care enough to be out here looking for him. Seeing as you're not, he probably ran from you, didn't he? I'm not surprised."

Auster really didn't care what Neela thought of him. Her opinion couldn't matter less in his eyes. She was below him, no matter what she said and her attitude only proved to put her even lower in his eyes. "You judge me based on what you have heard from my son. Have you not heard that there are two sides to every story? You know nothing of me, and you know nothing of my relationship with my son. If you cared for him as you say you do, you never would've tried to tear him away from the only family he has ever known."
He gave her a look that suggested she left a sour taste in his mouth. "I should have kept a better eye on him. I never should have allowed him to be around someone with manners as appalling as yours. He is gone, and it is your fault." He narrowed his eyes and spat out his next words with an almost childlike glee: he wanted to hurt her as much as he was hurting, "He left because you chose another over him. He is heartbroken. You did that to him, not I."
