Roll an Eleven: Canyon Field: The canyon walls towers high towards the ceiling while the ground sinks downwards several levels, making the top and bottom of the field very difficult to see without special equipment. The cliff faces are very steep with little ridge support for grabbing and climbing; on top of that, the rock faces are very damp which makes grabbing and holding on very difficult. A few skinny trees and roots jut out from the cliff and allow smaller, nimbler pokemon to grab and swing around. At the very bottom of the canyon’s long drop is a deep pool of water. Keeping up is difficult for trainers on this particular battlefield, so stadium officials have set up a special view screen on each of the trainer platforms. A mini camera will follow your pokemon around while it battles (of course, it’s programmed to back off when a pokemon does an attack) and the view screen will enable trainers to issue commands to their companions via microphone. This field gives a 25 HP attack boost to FLYING and ROCK type attacks.

Lenore entered the stadium and sent out Urabrask.

Arissa walked into the stadium holding Ronen, and was a bit unhappy when she saw the battlefield. The steep walls and narrow, damp ledges were difficult enough for an experienced battler, and the Togepi was just a baby on his first battle. Ah well, there was no help for it. She set Ronen on a long ledge near the trainer box, and nudged him forward. "Do your best!" she encouraged, then looked across the field at her opponent. "Hello there! Try not to be too hard on little Ronen, he's only a baby."

As Ronen trotted out along the length of the ledge, Arissa decided to take the initiative. "Ronen, Sweet Kiss."

The Togepi neared the end of the ledge and paused to look out at his opponent. He treated the Nincada to a big smile and a wave before blowing several kisses in the bug's direction.

Blood began to pool on Urabrask, hardening into a protective shell.

That...was slightly disturbing. Was the Nincada OK? The attacks hadn't seemed to have any effect, though. "Uh, try it again," she told her pokemon.

Ronen happily blew off some more kisses.

Arissa still didn't know what it was doing. Was it just sitting there? "Um, just keep at it, Ronen."

The little Togepi was more than happy to keep blowing kisses at the other pokemon. He was completely unperturbed by the lack of any kind of reaction.

The blood began to thrash about violently, congealing into tendrils that whipped about.

Ah, it was finally reacting! And it didn't seem too happy, at that. Perhaps the Sweet Kisses had finally gotten through, since the whipping tendrils seemed to be going in the wrong direction. "Hmm, I think Psych Up, now," she told her pokemon.

Ronen was already excited to be there, and he let that excitement grow until he danced around with it. This was going to be so much fun playing with the other pokemon!

Ronen seemed to be holding up quite well so far. Arissa judged that he was ready to move on to more offensive attacks. "Very good! Now, try and Incinerate, like we practiced."

Ronen trilled, then tucked his little hands in and concentrated. He began to glow with building energy, a heat haze ripping over his shell. Then he flung his hands out, a burst of fire shooting out with the motion.

The blood shielded Urabrask from most of the flames, but the heat still got to him. The tendrils of blood began to split into even more tendrils, each waving about hypnotically.
