Name: Roque Alvaro Gadabout
Age: 25 y.o.
Gender: Male
Height: 5’6” (168cm)
Weight: 147lbs (67kg)
Sexuality: Heterosexual; straight
Faction: Engineer
Occupation: Floor mechanic at Vanadia's Shop.
Physical Appearance: Roque bears a rough appearance of a grease monkey straight from the underside of a steam-powered automobile - almost always presenting himself with oil stains on his clothing, scratched steel-capped boots, or olive-toned skin. Although somewhat slightly shorter than the average man, his athletic build from all his physical stress during his work makes for a formidable form and stature. In saying so, the large, fingertip-less gloves he wears and his loose, brown cargo pants alongside his always messy, white singlet makes him look less refined after a day's work(though his general appearance tends to do so already).
His head is topped with a black ruffle of medium length, unkempt hair bound down by a set thick goggles wrapped around his forehead; hair dusts his jawline and chin making his facial frame more visibly prominent. In respects to his eyes, not much is worth noting apart from the fact that it is brown. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, brown. Apart from his facial appearance, the only things that stand out in Roque's guise is his leather chest sash used to hold small tools in slots along the front, and carry large implements such as poles through a strap along the back.
Personality: Roque is what most would consider a flippant cynic, being impishly thoughtless and crude at the best of times. He would often disregard formalities, preferring to get straight to the point rather than walking around the bush, and would give cheek to those pompous enough to press their logic against his. Complementary to his crude nature, Roque makes for a fine wiseass; facilitating for opposition for the sake of it. Indeed, every now and then, Roque would drop a quip remark when he'd see fit, often at the amusement and expense of others. A side effect from having to deal with his drunken father.
Deep down however, his warm nature, buried under his crude and mischievous exterior, still surfaces every now and again when he feels real empathy towards another individual - likely to show it through actions more than words. He isn't all flippant after all, and will share in good moments with close friends. Additionally, his will to please others (though extremely subtle) radiates through his work and practices.
Flaws: Being more practical than he is knowledgeable, Roque can be rather hardheaded when it comes to reasoning. His will to figure things out for himself often has him reluctantly submitting to the idea of others, or otherwise rejecting advice altogether.
Additionally, his troublesome behaviour is more than likely to upset someone, especially when his blatant remarks and quips come out particularly stronger than intended.
Back Story: Born into the world of engineers and mechanics, Roque was brought up to detest alchemists though he never knew why. His family was in rather low socio-economic stature with his mother being an average house wife, who would often take the views of Roque's drunken father who had lost much repute after attempting to combine efforts with an Alchemist who later belittled and betrayed him in cold nature. Ever since, his father was unable to perform his duties and remained a miserable slump for the rest of his years - a smudge on the Guild's plaque. In pity of Roque's future and necessity to keep the family name from further shame, Roque's grandfather took him under his wing when he reached a suitable age for apprenticeship. He spent many years struggling under the old man's teachings and practicals but found it interesting altogether and never once considered leaving under his grandfather's strict and harsh instructions. The old man's garage was like a second home to him and the old man was more like a father to him than the drunkard that sat on the couch every night when Roque returned home.
Presumably jealous of his son's rising success with the old man and the time they spent together, Roque's father would often make harsh remarks to Roque whenever he could, insinuating his lack of family responsibility to take care of his father and mother. Without fail, Roque would merely retort with a quick but subtle response that would leave his inebriated father confused and angry. The combination of the old man's hardiness and his father's lack of family comfort was what made Roque's personality to this very day. It also made him realise the importance of work and the willingness to never turn out like his father - though the occasional ale made for good relief, ironically.
In time, Roque's mother and father passed away and he was left with the family's cramped house. The last of his father's memory was written on a piece of parchment the man had handed to Roque on his death bed. Hating his father for what had been, Roque scrunched the piece of paper and tossed it in the trash.
After he had completed his apprenticeship with an excellent taste and aptitude for augmentations, Roque took employment at Vanadia's Shop when he was eighteen. He's been working with her ever since. Roque hopes to build a vehicle strong enough to travel the outside world and brave it's harsh terrain and weather. But his little experimentations with his work seems to suggest otherwise - constantly failing due to his ambitious designs.
Talents and Skills: A small but acquired party trick, Roque has developed an uncanny ability to juggle small objects in each hand or along his knuckles (more so for coins), after years of having to fiddle with bolts, screws and nuts as an engineer. It's become a quirk of his to roll a coin along his knuckles or lightly toss fruit/small objects in the air without him noticing.
Research: Roque specialises in repairing and augmentation rather than inventing and spearheading innovation; typically titling him as a Mechanical Engineer. His current project revolves around the augmentation of a motorcycle in respects to flight - which generally means strategically placing wings or engines on certain areas. Due to his insistency to test his projects himself (and constant failures), Roque is familiar with medicinal clinics after constant bruising, lacerations, and even impalements from testings gone wrong. In recent times, the Guild has looked down on his practices, labelling them lame and unrefined.
Hobbies: In his free time, Roque takes solitude in walking about the city's East Wing, browsing shops and tenders for little knick-knacks he can fiddle with later. He could also be found drinking in taverns when his weekly income and expenditure allowed for it.
