Birthplace: Solaceon, Sinnoh Previous Residence: Castelia, Unova Current Residence: Camphoreon, Kodo xxx Abel lives with his pokemon in a single-bedroom apartment in Camphoreon, situated on one of the higher floors of a tall apartment building, reachable via stairs or an elevator. It is a decent size for a single-bedroom apartment, with a spacious living area and a modest kitchen and dining area. Furniture and decorations are sparse, as Abel has had to buy a piece here and there whenever he manages to save up enough to afford something new. The most notable decoration is a guitar and its case, the latter on the floor and leaning against the wall with the former hanging above it. Accessible from one window in the living area is the fire escape, upon the corner of which rests a well-used ash tray.

Personality: More often than not, Abel is calm, easy going, and friendly to anyone and everyone. He makes friends fairly easily with his patient, amiable attitude and his sincere concern for their well-being. The safety of others, whether they're friends or strangers, is something he takes very seriously, and so if anyone is ever in need of help then he is not afraid to offer it. Apart from focusing so much on safety, he enjoys hanging out with friends, going to bars or clubs for a few drinks or to dance and mingle, or spending time singing and playing his guitar. Since coming to Kodo, he has begun to enjoy pokemon training as well.
xxxTo Abel, nothing is more precious than family. His pokemon are his family, and his close friends may as well be family too, for how much he cares about them. Though he makes friends easily, he never has many close friends, and he pointedly avoids committing to romantic relationships. He has a lot of secrets that he has every intention of taking to his grave, and which have caused him in the past to move to different regions with little warning. It is because of this that he tends to (try to) keep people at an arm's length whether they know it or not, and despite thinking he prefers it that way, it generally only leaves him rather lonely.
xxxWhile he likes jokes, he thinks that jokes about guns or about serious criminal offenses are completely unacceptable to make light of and will not hesitate to say as much. There are two things he absolutely cannot stand, however, and those two things are kidnapping and murder. There is a special place in hell reserved for such offenders, he thinks, and as a vigilante he has no qualms helping them get there sooner (though it is always an emotionally trying experience so he acts on it infrequently; and yes, he is well aware of his own hypocrisy). He truly dislikes doing what he has tasked himself with, but he's determined to continue anyway, if only to ensure the safety of others and prevent them and their loved ones from experiencing the pain his family did.
History: Abel's childhood was a busy one, full of lessons and aiding his family on their ranch, but despite having very little time to himself, he always managed to sneak quick peeks at various police shows his father watched, or short play-times with his youngest sister. Though he loved his entire family, he felt a closer kinship with little Amelia than either of his other siblings. Everything changed when Amelia was kidnapped one day, whisked away right under their noses before they even knew what happened, and left the entire family absolutely devastated and shaken to their very core. Ransom letters arrived and were tearfully paid, but they never saw their daughter again. Eventually her body was recovered and an arrest was made, but despite her kidnapper's obvious guilt and a heavy suspicion he'd been involved in a previous murder of another child, a technicality with the evidence during his trial prevented a guilty verdict.
The passage of time did little to ease anyone's pain. News of another young child gone missing reached them, and though the same culprit was suspected, nothing could be linked back to him enough for an arrest to be made. Something in Abel snapped that day, as he sat there agonizing over his poor sister's fate and the other suffering family that he could relate to only too well, and he made a decision that evening that altered the course of his life thereafter: He found his sister's murderer and killed him. He was gone before police ever arrived on the scene though, his heart pounding as he ran as fast as he could back home. While his family was later questioned about the murder, nothing ever came of it, and Abel had hoped to put the whole thing behind him, but shortly after he received an inconspicuous letter, detailing his crime and offering employment - with a heavy implication that he seriously consider doing so. Figuring he had little choice but to accept, Abel agreed to become their newest assassin on one condition: None of his assignments could be people he deemed innocent. They rather begrudgingly agreed and provided him with a precision sniper rifle fitted with a silencer with which to carry out his assignments after he verified them.
Eventually he got a job at a gun range while still moonlighting assassin work occasionally, and moved out into his own apartment in Solaceon. Time passed mostly uneventfully for a couple years and he gradually began to trust his employer and ceased verifying his targets before pursuing them, until one day he realized that some of his recent assignments had been people he would've deemed innocent had he taken the time to check. The realization of his grievous error left him physically ill for several days, and upon recovering he promptly assigned himself his last target in Sinnoh: His employer. He succeeded in the task, removed all of the physical copies of his past assignments from his employer's files, and fled to Unova. His family was bewildered by his sudden relocation, since they remained entirely clueless about his illegal career, but supported him nonetheless. Shortly after moving, he became a trainer so he could catch himself a Zorua to aid him in his endeavors.
While in Unova he took up work at another gun shop by day and moonlighted as a vigilante at night, refraining from joining any other illegal organizations. A few rare occasions where a grieving family who had suffered at the hands of someone else cropped up, and he felt compelled to assist them as quietly and anonymously as he could. During his stay in Unova he began dating a young woman named Molly; though he'd dated off and on in the past, none of them had ever been serious relationships like this one. The couple dated for two years before she tearfully broke it off, claiming a need to settle down with someone, a need that he could not - would not - fulfill, and she left. Brokenhearted and unable to stay in the region where his love had been, Abel packed up his things, sold what he couldn't carry, and moved to Kodo.

xxxPersonality: No one knows Abel better than Isaac does, given how long they've been together, and the opposite is also true. The Espeon adores the human he calls his friend - indeed, the blond didn't become his official trainer until only a few short years ago - and can't think of being with anyone else. His loyalty to Abel transcends Sonia's; where she would do anything he asked of her, Isaac would do the same - unless, of course, it was a stupid idea, in which case the psychic-type would be sure to make that point perfectly clear to his friend and try to make him see reason instead. While he loves his friend dearly, he does not and never has hesitated to point out when the blond has foolish ideas, and knows Abel likes it better that way. Though he does love his catnaps, Isaac can be quite energetic and lively despite his age, and is always eager to go out somewhere with his friend.
xxxTo other pokemon and people, unfamiliar or friends, Isaac is always friendly, polite, and, if the situation calls for it, encouraging and supportive. He saves his dislike and anger for people who show without any doubt that they deserve no more than that, though that is typically a rare occurrence. There are only two things in this world that Isaac truly abhors: Those who steal someone away from someone else, and those who steal someone's life away from them.
xxxHistory: When Abel was just born, his parents bought Isaac from a breeder almost immediately after the Eevee had hatched. The pair have been inseparable ever since. However, it wasn't until they moved from Sinnoh to Unova that Abel became a trainer and officially put Isaac in a pokeball.

xxxPersonality: Quiet, obedient, and loyal are the three words that best describe Sonia, though another important one is hierarchical. When she joined Abel and Isaac, she quickly assumed the former was the absolute leader of their small pack - the alpha, in other words - with Isaac being a close second. Over time her idea of her own rank moved from subordinate to beta, based on how often she's helped Abel. Elizabeth, however, she has firmly labeled as the omega they have to put up with; the rest of Abel's pokemon are ranked between herself and Elizabeth. While she has a strong sense of hierarchy among her teammates that only Caleb shares, she never feels like it needs to be asserted, nor her rank defended. All of them simply are the ranks they are - anything else would be superfluous.
xxxSonia will speak to other pokemon willingly and can be quite conversational at times, but in general she prefers to remain silent or not say much. The one she speaks most to is Isaac, given her assumption of his rank, though since Caleb joined them she has taken a quiet liking to him. Her favorite is, without a doubt, her trainer, for whom she would do just about anything. She sees herself as his righthand pokemon, as whenever he needs anything done, he calls on her to help him do it.
xxxHistory: As a Zorua, Sonia was born and raised in a small pack of Zorua and Zoroark in the forests of Unova. One day, a group of trainers startled one of the younger Zorua and followed it to the pack's den. After dispelling their illusions, the trainers quickly captured the majority of the pack, while the few remaining scattered. Sonia was one of the few not captured, and she roamed the forests for several days, looking for a new pack to join, when Abel came across her and caught her. She didn't mind it really, and soon came to view her new trainer as the leader of a new, albeit unconventional, pack. She evolved soon after.

xxxPersonality: Elizabeth is, for lack of a better term, eccentric. She is very vocal but not in any intelligible way, and instead makes a variety of sounds to communicate her thoughts or desires (making a strange, guttural sound meant specifically to annoy others is her favorite, and is usually coupled with taunting gestures). Overall she is a rather simple creature, very curious and with a love of experimenting (such as, 'what will this human do if I set their bag/ball/random object on fire' or similar). More than anything else, she loves getting reactions out of others, which may very well explain her obnoxious and investigative behavior.
xxxFighting is her second favorite past-time, either in random scraps or in more official battles, though the former is her preferred scenario. In such unofficial altercations, she seems to enjoy using a crude form of what appears to be boxing, with her left arm seeming to be the more dominant one instead of her right.
xxxDespite her immature, almost careless behavior, deep down she does have the ability to take things seriously, surprisingly, and if the situation necessitates it she can repress her generally obnoxious nature. Because of her attitude, other pokemon tend to avoid her or not trust her, and the fact that Abel includes her as one of the family and trusts her with various things has led to her having a deep respect for him, a dynamic that baffles Abel's other pokemon.
xxxHistory: Abel didn't really catch Elizabeth in the traditional sense; he happened past her one day in Camphoreon, and she decided to follow him and alternate poking him and punching him, trying to get a reaction, until he left the area. Such behavior went on for several days until the Charmeleon actually did follow him home, and has been with him since.

xxxPersonality: Ever the skeptic, Caleb is wary of strangers and wary of acquaintances. Abel and his other pokemon are part of his pack and he feels a strong loyalty to and kinship with them (except Elizabeth, who he still strongly dislikes). Close friends of Abel's are also treated with respect and given some level of camaraderie. Strangers are another story entirely, and are treated with suspicion and as a possible threat. Unfortunately for him, he also is quite curious, and that curiosity sometimes interferes with his innate wariness of strangers, and sometimes he has to cast one aside in favor of the other - and he very much dislikes having to make that decision.
xxxOnce you get past his general dislike and suspicion of pretty much everyone and everything, he can be intensely loyal to those he's close to, and can even be pretty friendly in his own way. Unfortunately, that way usually means being blunt or speaking the truth where it may not be welcome, but to his friends he doesn't do it out of spite or malice. To his enemies, he definitely does.
xxxHistory: Caleb is the second Growlithe Abel owned; the first, Juliet, was given to him by his parents after he moved to Kodo, but they soon asked for her back due to husbandry reasons. A while later, they sent him Caleb instead, who had been born and raised on their ranch in Sinnoh like Juliet had been. They also promised not to ask for this one back - either because of their previous gift, or because his temperament isn't one they want to breed into future litters. Caleb evolved into an Arcanine on Christmas in 2016 by using the fire stone Abel's parents had gifted them.
xxxPersonality: Given her experiences up until now, Vanessa has spent her time with Abel being too anxious to really display any firm personality. She spends most of her time hiding behind or under furniture, though she feels safest when hiding under or wrapped up in a dark blue blanket Abel gave her. So far the only two pokemon she's at least somewhat comfortable with are Isaac and Joel, though she's beginning to warm up to Sonia as well despite her status as a predator.
xxxHistory: Vanessa started life as not a Buneary in the wild, but as a Lopunny crossed with Mothim DNA in what she learned was a lab. After what felt like forever to her, she found herself transferred to a pokeball and sold to a family somewhere. While her appearance received both positive and negative reactions, it was the latter of the two that affected her the most, the latter of the two that chased her out into the harsh wilderness, and the latter of the two that rooted itself deeper and deeper into her mind the longer she spent alone in the wild.
xxx A few weeks passed - a few terrifying, harrowing and hunger-filled weeks given the unforgiving cold season she'd been turned out into - before Abel came across her and took her in to the warmth and safety of his apartment.

xxxPersonality: Cadence is still too new to Abel's family for any distinct personality to show through, however so far she seems calm and quiet, and enjoys singing. She especially seems to enjoy singing along with her new trainer.
xxxHistory: An offshore tour advert caught Abel's attention one day, so he and his friend Taavi went to check it out for the day. During the course of their visit, a random bout of song drew forth a small group of Lapras, one of which opted to leave with Abel. Despite being in a ball, he lets her live out in the ocean because he'd feel too guilty keeping her cooped up in her pokeball otherwise.

xxxPersonality: Tabitha is quiet and calm, and has taken on a motherly role with Abel and his family of pokemon. She's taken a liking to Vanessa especially - either because of the Lopunny's similarly quiet demeanor or because of her anxiety - and spends most of her time with her.
xxxHistory: When Abel finally admitted to his mother over the phone that Isaac had been stolen, she immediately picked one of the best Mareep on their ranch and mailed it off to her son. While she realized such a gift could not replace the one he'd lost, she reasoned that at least he'd have a little piece of home with him to give him some solace. Tabitha evolved into a Flaaffy in order to have arms to give Taavi a hug after Valour was stolen.

xxxPersonality: Stubborn, headstrong, determined, unwavering; Tania is all of these things and not much more than that. She's strong - or she will be one day - just you wait and see! You see if she doesn't!
Tania has an insatiable desire both to grow stronger and to prove her burgeoning strength to others whether they wanted to see or not (usually not). As such, she's always ready and willing to battle no matter the circumstances or time or place - or if she's even fit to battle at the moment - and consequently can get herself into some very tight spots. So far she thinks very little of Abel's other pokemon, except for the fact they're now her teammates and she must prove to them, above all else, that she is the strongest of them all. (She is not. Not at all.)
xxxHistory: After her previous trainer abandoned her in favor of a stronger Scraggy, Tania became absolutely obsessed with getting stronger to prove her worth. Her quest to do this led her to a back alley beside a restaurant where she tried to prove her strength to the restaurant owner - and his poor defenseless shins - until on the fifth day of this, Abel happened to walk by with some of his pokemon. Tania immediately headed for the intrigued Elizabeth and, after an initial headbutt had floored the fire-type, the pair engaged in a battle of headbutting that practically induced headaches in onlookers just from watching them. Fortunately for the restaurant owner and possibly unfortunately for Abel, Tania decided to follow him home.

xxxPersonality: Quiet, timid, and lonely, Joel rivals Sonia for quietest pokemon in Abel's apartment. He's still grieving the loss of his family in his own way, and feels uncomfortable around some of Abel's louder pokemon, but he's slowly growing accustomed to his new life and overall he's happier now than he was before, especially because he doesn't have to be quite so lonely anymore.
xxxWhile he's comfortable around Abel and some of his other pokemon, Joel is most certainly not comfortable around unfamiliar humans and pokemon, especially large ones, and will do his best to hide behind Abel or the nearest Cubone-sized object or pokemon until the stranger leaves. Abel is trying to work with Joel to gradually coax him out of his shell around strangers, but progress has been slow at best.
xxxHistory: Before he met Abel, Joel lived a quiet life amongst a small family group of Cubone in a cave system within the Sky Peak mountains. That is, until an earthquake shook loose rocks that closed off pathways while opening others, and while it created another entrance to the outside world, it cut him off from his family and left him all alone. After some time he accepted his lonely fate to never find his family again - after all, they may or may not have even survived the shifting of rock during or after the earthquake - Joel had taken to wandering the caves in silence, until the caves became flooded with humans who brought light, more humans, and then even more humans. The frightened Cubone hid away from them all, until during a conversation with a tame pokemon he discovered a human that could understand him. Intrigued by this human he could communicate with, and not wanting to live such a lonely life alone in the caves, Joel allowed Abel to catch him.

xxxPersonality: Independent, curious, and mischievous describe Cyrus perfectly. He loves to play pranks on others, enjoys going for long night flights, and likes to try to impress pretty girl bats. He also enjoys the freedom he has with Abel; he has a warm place to stay when it's cold, a free source of easy food, but he can leave whenever he wants to.
xxxHistory: Cyrus spent almost his entire life in Ambergris until he tried to steal a certain blond's hat to impress a pretty Zubat. While he did end up going home with Abel and receiving a name, the blond never officially caught him, so Cyrus is still technically wild and is able to come and go as he pleases. When staying with Abel, Cyrus will either roost outside under the roof, under the fire escape, or hanging from a rod inside a closet if Abel leaves the door open.
