Dysmas took a deep breath before diving into the waters of the lake. It wasn't as if he needed the breath before jumping into the water, it was more of a breath in anticipation of what he was about to do. The male was anything but certain about what he was doing as he swam deep into the waters, his water wings hardly visible, but flush against his back to increase his speed. Dysmas wasn't as fast as most naiads, but he was faster then most other pae. The young adult wasn't sure how he would be received once he arrived at Alu Spring, he just kept focusing on the name of his father and grandfather, hoping that their names might get him out of any trouble. He kicked his legs to swim faster, legs that wouldn't be there if he was a real naiad. Dysmas kept going over the things he might say in his head. He wasn't even sure who he might talk to, all Dysmas knew was that he wanted to be a Naiad, a true Naiad, and participate in the same ceremony that his father had once participated in. Dysmas loved and adored his angel mother, but he always at least sort of looked like his mother. When Dysmas went into the water, he didn't look at all like his father and that was why he wanted it so badly. As Dysmas swam further away from the surface, the water became darker until it suddenly became lighter as he approached the beacon of the naiad temple. Dysmas stopped swimming to admire it before he continued.

The Queen of the Naiads reclined on her lavish throne of shells and pearls as she usually did during the day. She made herself as available as she could for Naiad so when she was available, there she sat. Her court was an open court; open to all who seek her counsel and audience. Usually she had one of her High Court members along with her, but today, she was alone. Aeroniel had business dealing with the recent adventure Tariel had taken with Turin, Turin she wasn't sure where he was, but assumed doing his guard duties, and Sadron, well, Sadron was no longer a member of the High Court.
So there the lonely queen sat, reclining on her side with her chin propped up on her hand with her elbow on the seat of the throne. Her tail draped lazily over the side and she had her back to the Court as she watched all the little bubbles and magical fish swim within the Water Element globe. Each one of those little magical fish was a blessing or soul meant for a Naiad now or in the future. It was sometimes fun to speculate, but today, she just watched them, imagining them as sentient and living in their own little world with no knowledge of what was going on outside of their "fishbowl".
The queen was not unapproachable, but merely looked bored, maybe lost in thought. She was certainly not in any dignified posture, but the court was oddly empty today.

Dysmas wandered through the temple for quite some time, looking for the queen... that was who he wanted to see. It seemed like awfully high in the chain of command for him to plague with his issues, but he didn't know who else might be able to help him. It was oddly quiet, Dysmas hadn't been sure what to expect, he had never been here before, but this was the capital of his people.
As Dysmas poked his head into one room, he saw what was unmistakably a throne, that was where the queen should be. He looked at the naiad sitting in the chair and sort of tilted his head as he swam closer. The female was sitting in a throne, so she had to be queen. Only, she didn't really look like a queen. Sure, she was beautiful like a queen, but to a young adult male all females had queenly beauty. The way she sat there though... seemed so humble.
Nervousness swelled inside Dysmas' chest as he tried to decide if he should make himself known. "Excuse me... do you know where I can find the queen?" Dysmas asked of the blue female.

At the sound of someone speaking, she quickly sat up straight and proper in the throne. She'd been instructed to maintain proper decorum at all times in the court. But it was hard when it was boring days days like these, and lately, the Queen's not really allowed to go out and do much else until she can prove to Tua and the rest of the Aquatl caretakers of Alu Spring that she is not a flight-risk.
She brushed her fingers along her waist to smooth out the scales and tried to put on a more dignified posture. She was about to answer the question when she took note of who was asking it. No, she didn't know this Pae'il, but he looked vaguely familiar. And the fact that he had no tail was completely throwing her for a loop.
"I can perhaps help you find her ... if you can tell me how it is you haven't transformed yet this deep in the lake." At the distance the pair remained, she couldn't make out his water wings yet to know that anything else might be askew regarding who this Pae was.

Dysmas couldn't help but smile at the fact that he had taken the other by surprise, it was humorous to watch her adjust to knowing that someone was there. The smile quickly disappeared when he looked at her sitting proper in the throne, now the pae really looked like what Dysmas imagined a queen might look like. Ah relief, it wasn't her, but she would help him find the queen.
He was taken by surprise by the naiad's request. She hadn't realized he was different. It seemed like she only thought it was an error that his tail didn't transform. A spark of hope appeared in the male's heart. Maybe it was, like some children being born unable to see or something. Dysmas didn't come any closer and responded, "I do not know the answer to that myself. It is why I want to see the queen." Dysmas tucked his water wings in closer to his back, at this point they were the only thing that might expose him.
