Pickles was a difficult clown to find.
He did not have an official room, as such, and spent a lot of time skulking around the campus and getting into garbage bins.
He had a lot of friends, trapped in tiny furry bodies, and it was those friends he was spending the hot autumn afternoon with. A small cardboard castle (see, several stacks of boxes) had been set up on the school lawn under some gnarled trees, and several minipets were milling around. Some had tiny hats made of newspaper fastened to their heads.
Pickles was regarding the most nefarious of them with a newspaper sword. Captain Giggles had imprisoned Amelia's beautiful daughter, Rose, in the gloomiest of his cardboard dungeons.
Pickles had leaned another paper sword against Giggles, who was upside down.
He waved his own sword in a menacing manner.
"You can't have her. Can't you see?" he implored. "Rose is in love with the brave performing trio of tigers, Tony, Toni, and Tonya. Five is just too many."

To say that it was difficult to actually locate Pickles was an understatement. Gabby had started in what he thought were the most logical of spots, the reaper dorms. When he failed, he searched the grounds, and the cafeteria, and the gym, and the club rooms, and... he was getting very tired of searching. Eventually, the boil flopped down on the ground outside, staring up at the sky. He couldn't decide if Sibyl's honor was worth this much work or not. He didn't work for anything. Maybe a nap was in order.. A very small minipet wearing a paper hat wandered over near him and sniffed the ground, lifting a leg. "Jack no you don't-" Gabby was up on his feet instantly, hopping away from the defouling minipet before any business was made. It was then that he realized, just behind a stack of boxes, there was a voice. He moved to look over the stack, and lo and behold, his target appeared. It was easy - Pickles was a very obvious looking boil. Gabby put on his Most Serious Face and knocked on the cardboard, almost knocking one of them off.

Pickles didn't seem deterred by the interruption. He swiveled the fake sword towards Gabby.
"What is this? A giant, mutant body guard? No amount of back up can save you now! Not even if he was a master grand swordsman champion." He squinted and asked Gabby suspiciously, "Where have you taken her?"

"Her?!" Gabby instantly assumed the her in question was Sibyl, and stared at Pickles in shock. "I didn't take her anywhere! I was just coming to find you, and have a talk with you, since you are taking her to prom, and I'm her best friend." He felt that was all he needed, to explain the situation. But he continued, regardless. His demeanor tried to look threatening, but only succeeded in looking nervous, and perhaps a little awkward. ".. So put down your sword, and we can talk."

"...I'm not taking Rose to prom," Pickles said. He looked shiftily between the newcomer and the Captain, then stuck his sword in his pocket, whispering,
"We're playing pretend. Rose is okay."
He lifted one of the cardboard boxes to reveal a sleeping Glitter Felt, its puffy body knotted with various bows and ribbons.
He put the box back, then drew the rolled up newspaper, "I know better than that! Say what you have to say."

"Who the hell is-" At this point, Gabby decided he didn't care who Rose was. This clown was not going to give him any good answers, but he still had to ask the questions he'd come to ask. "Okay. Buddy. Listen." He pinched the bridge of his nose with his fingers. "Sibyl is my best friend. Are you going to treat her nicely and be a total gentleman when you take her to prom, or am I going to have to get a little rough?" Gabby did not enjoy, nor was he good at, threats.. but this was Sibyl they were talking about. He had to try.

Pickles listened closely.
"Oh," he said at last, putting up his sword again. "Of course I'm gonna be nice. She's my friend too."
He furled his jacket, holding it up over his nose and mouth like a vampire. "Or do you mean...am I going to ravish her?" He asked in a deep and sinister voice.

Gabby nodded, happy to hear that Pickles considered Sibyl a friend as well. He actually could have just walked away with that alone, if Pickles hadn't said anything more. But he had. And Gabby froze with anger. "Nobody. Is ravishing. Anyone. Have you got that, little man?" Whether or not Pickles was actually shorter than Gabby was irrelevent. Gabby was just trying to sound threatening. He was probably doing a poor job of it.

He'd meant to say Gabby didn't have to worry about any of that either, when Gabby lay down the law. "None? Zero? Shoot," Pickles said.
He put his sword down.
"You're going to have to hold these for me," he said, digging around in his pockets and finding something suspiciously rubbery and spikey. He put it safely in Gabby's hand, then went searching again. "Woohoohoo," he said, coming up with something very black and lacy. He twirled it on his finger before giving it up. The pile was joined by some fuzzy handcuffs, a feather, some twirly objects, a banana, a stuffed chipmunk, a pair of smiley-boxers...
"Whoops, those are mine," he said, taking the boxers back.

Everything in Gabby's hands started to froze over with ice. He looked absolutely livid. Pickles was clearly after Sibyl's innocence, by the way he talked - and the things he kept in his pockets. He actually picked up the lacy black thing, and stared at it in horror.. before pocketing it and dropping the rest. "Listen, you," He growled, his sharp teeth jutting out threateningly. "I'm dead serious here. You lay a finger on her in any way that she doesn't want, and you'll have to answer to me. She's a good ghoul, and no pervert like you is going to change that!" He might have taken a few steps closer, until he was inches away, breathing frost angrily through his nose.

"Like this?" Pickles asked, holding up a finger defiantly.
He booped Gabby on the nose.

Gabby didn't know how to respond to that. But he tried. "Well. If. She. Doesn't want you to.. do that.. then yeah. Like that." He rubbed his nose warily - he certainly hadn't wanted Pickles to do that.

Pickles grinned. "We're just going as friends."
He bent to pick up the objects Gabby had dropped.
"Do you go around enforcing no hanky panky for everybody? Are you from the bogey bump and grind division?"

"Good." That was what he wanted to hear. Although his threatening look fell away when Pickles turned the tables on him, and he flushed with embarrassment, and ran his hand through his hair. "Well... nnnno, of course not.. just.. just with my Sibyl. She's - you know - not ready for that kind of thing. And I care about her. So I have to protect her.. make sure nobody's duping her into something she isn't prepared for." His face darkened with color. "She doesn't get things, sometimes. She's just.. I don't know. Real innocent. Not stupid. Just.. very trusting." He pushed Pickles' shoulder. "Enough, I'm the one who came here to ask questions, not you." He huffed out quietly. "So.. you uh, been friends with her long? I mean.. do you like her?"
