Celestia stood in the kitchen area of her small room within the great tree, watching the fire heating a pot of water with great interest. It was mid-afternoon, about 14:30, a perfect time for tea and snacks, which is why she heated the water. Yet, it was strange, since her speaking with Vanya, she had noticed glimmers of light just out of her sight, as if teasing her with its mere presence. Why would it not come and speak with her? Was she acting not kind enough, not empathetic enough, not worthy enough of it, of whatever her power was? Surely, this was not the case. Everybody has fault, everyone makes a mistake in judgement from time to time, but this doesn't lessen the type of person they are. Or, well, it shouldn't...

She blinked as she noticed large amounts of bubbles beginning to form on the waters surface and bent lower, puffing out a breath of air to extinguish the flame. Almost immediately thereafter the princess reached above her, into the upper cabinet, brushing against the tin her rings remained hidden and taking out one filled with a mix of lavender and chamomile. If there was anything she felt she needed, it was this small window allowed for relaxation, completely left to only her thoughts.

Nobody around with expectations of her behavior or words, just herself.

Leaving the pot to simmer now, she moved to a small table in the neighboring area, an extraordinarily ornate tea set the only thing resting upon it. It was her treasure, her prize, from that horrid night of St. Valentine's. Carefully picking up the teapot, she returned to where the flowers were seeping and set it on the counter in two parts: base and lid. Lifting the pot and letting the water flow into its new container, her thoughts drifted.

Was it really such a bad thing, that night and all that had partaken during it? Yes, they had been forced into a maze of horrors, but everyone grew closer from this. Yes, her sister had become male and fathered three children, but the princess's nieces and nephew were simply the most precious. Yes, she was married to someone whom she did not love, but he was a nice guy.

Perhaps... One day... In the distant future, mind you. She might... even...

Returning her pot to the stove and the lid to the teapot, she then set it back on the table it belonged. A few moments later, she returned from the same cupboard with a small plate of honey cookies and, setting them on the appropriate tray, proceeded to seat herself. A small sigh escaped her lips before she motioned to pour herself a cup, followed by a small spoonful of sugar cane crystals. Stirring it, she brushed off her concerns of before.

No. There was simply no way she would ever, could ever, allow herself to continue growing attached to her husband. They should have found the deity to unbind themselves long ago, before anything could have begun. It would have been simpler, less painful, for him that way. However, to do so now would not provoke any strong emotions from her, of course not.

"Lying to oneself is as dishonorable as lying to another," a soft, deep yet feminine voice echoed in the room.

The princess's hands stopped centimeters from the edge of her teacup, jolting at the sound ringing in her ears. Breathing in once to calm her nerves, she sat her hands on her lap, one neatly upon the other. Her ears moving, she cautiously looked around to either side of her. She should be alone; nobody had come to join her this afternoon and, excluding her own, the room had been devoid of any stray motions. How could someone have made it in without her knowledge...?

The voice from before came again, this time to the left of her. "Certainly you are aware that you mussn't be alone, m'lady..."

Celestia turned her head in that direction. Emptiness.

"...for I will forever be with you, until death do us part..." This time it came from the right, a certain echo in its tone trailing off.

Yet, again, it had gone when her eyes flicked there. Were they, whomever they were, mocking her? This simply would not do! Raising herself, her hands moving to clench by her side, the princess stood. Looking to either side, barely catching a glimpse, if any, of something that should not be there, she clenched her teeth lightly. How ironic that, having practiced speaking in such a way with her friend before, a time would arise to use her sister's manner of speaking so soon thereafter?

"SHOW YOURSELF," she commanded, her voice booming through the room. It wasn't quite as loud as she had attempted with Belvah, but, unlike those attempts, it wasn't followed by a fit of coughs. Instead, it made the silence descending upon the room all the more obvious.

Everything remained still for that moment, a few seconds made to feel like minutes, before the voice resonated once more. "Now, now, my princess... That is simply not a tone for such a lady as yourself to be using. Really, you should conduct yourself better than that," the voice paused, a vibrating laughs touching the ends of the room "I haven't the time for your demands."

Her hands still clenched, the princess looked to either side of her, her confusion and frustration showing past her calm, masked face only through her quivering irises. Deciding to lower her tone, she reiterated her demand. "Likewise, I haven't the time time for a child's pestering. Show yourself at once, or I shall call for an authority to remove you by force."

Again, the room flowed with a laugh, this one more booming and cackling than the previous, as if whoever it belonged to found the princess to be hysterical. "My, my, haven't you dulled in your mannerisms and wisdom since your ruled? It is understandable, now, why your would require the help of others in deciding your actions; left alone to your new vices, they really have begun to fade. How unfortunate... I had earnestly hoped it would be a simple thing to pass on to you."

A small light began to fade into existence directly in front of Celestia's eyes, it's edges waxing and waning with the voice. "However, if I must appear for you to understand the voice of your mellon speaking to you, after hearing of us from the Seer of Laisidhiel , there is little chance of that."

Trying to hide the agitation in her voice, the princess continued. "How was I to assume this voice belonged to you, as you had yet to speak to me? At last you appear, yet it appears that it is only to make a fool of me," her voice became softer, "Why is this? What have I done to warrant such ill-behavior?"

"Oooh...? Angry, are we? The truth can be painful, my princess, certainly that much you are aware of. I appear only when I am needed, remain hidden if I feel not. Once you have grown wise, the two become easily distinguishable. Your power... Oh... In such a state, I have my doubts on your ability to utilize it to its fullest extent." A chuckle. "It really is rather powerful, you know. Nothing less would be expected from my pae."

"Are you here to teach me of my power? Wha-..." the princess started, before being cut off by the light.

"Now... Now... Patience child. Nothing good arises from rash behavior. It is likely you, without the knowledge, have been using it in your daily life, among your thoughts."

"How...?"

"I will not explain it further to you yet, just as I will not reveal my true form to you. There is far too much to be completed in your personal growth, too much doubt, pride, complacency. Until you come to understand yourself and your true wishes, only when the conflict residing within you calms, can you effectively use the power."

"Until then, even if I tell you of it, you likely will be unable to call upon it... I shall return at a later time, per my discretion, to guide you further. Until then..." the light began to fade away.

Reaching for the light, the princess called out to it. "Wait! Please! I... I am strong, I know what my heart wishes for. So... Please..."

It sighed again. "See? This is what I refer to. Always lying to yourself." A pause. "Fine. If you wish to know so dearly, I am required to oblige." It wiggled a bit before coughing, seemingly clearing its throat. "I, Lady Clairvoyance the Third, have decided to become your guide, Princess Celestia, if you will, in your understanding of the spirits. Your strength lies not in yourself, but in your ability to ask of their advice regarding your own actions or the actions of others."

"You remain spiritually weak, so do not expect for a proper answer of them. Be grateful for a small feeling, for even when you come to master the communication, all that shall change is the strength of the feeling. Trust in them, in yourself my princess, and great things will be achieved."

The ball moved away, its voice softening. "This is all I will tell you at this point. Only should you progress more in your self-understanding shall I appear again with further teachings. Until then..." as the ball faded, so did it's final words. "...my princess Celestia..."

And, simple as that, it had vanished, leaving nothing save a cold cup of tea remaining beside her. So... her power was to help her in giving advice? Or was that simply a riddle or a ruse, meant only to confuse her?The latter idea would come as no surprise; the personality of the mellon did not appear to be the most pleasant of ones she had made acquaintance with.

However, what she would take from this was, no matter how much of it was true, Celestia would begin to think through her ideas before acting on them. Perhaps it would happen that a feeling may come with them, helping to guide her in one direction rather than another.

Whether guidance or sabotage, only time would reveal the intricacies to come...
