He'd already been by to see his friend and drop the English book off with him, he really hadn't meant to borrow it for so long. He'd sort of lost track of the time he'd had it, two and a half months really wasn't that long, and his friends in college knew he had that habit. Ian tended to borrow their school books and get lost in reading them, and other books, and sort of take forever to get through them. It was likely to only reason he'd avoided a scolding, of some mild sort, and instead was told to just keep the damn book since the semester was over.
Deciding to take the fast way home the teenager made his way into an alley way in order to power up before leaping up onto a roof top, he didn't care to notice what buildings roof he'd jumped onto. Standing there for a moment, the book in his hand, he stood looking around. This was really getting to be something he enjoyed, running about from roof top to roof top, it was just still new to him. Even though it was loosing it's shine and newness it was still something so...different and freeing in feel that he couldn't help himself. As the city darkened, as night came upon the city, Chaldene took one more glance about the university area and turned to head for home.

A reflection several blocks away, Jude had finished up the last shift at Slave to the Grind and was working, methodically, to close up: tables wiped down, bathrooms double checked, equipment all shut down and everything stacked up properly. The keys jangled in his hands as he locked the doors and shot a quick look down the street.
He, too, wanted the fast way home. Two steps into the alley and then he clamored his way up the fire escape onto the roof of the building, knocking his hat up higher on his head to get a good look at the area. Dark, he wouldn't see much, and instead turned toward home --
To see his echo, not too far on the horizon, a white-clad figure maybe two or three blocks over and a bright spot of order aura on his radar. Sisyphus froze and blinked, paralyzed with indecision, unsure if it was wiser to approach or jest let them be.

Chaldene was not expecting to suddenly feel the aura of order so close to him, it had just seemed to blink into being. He supposed that was how it always went though. Shrugging his shoulders the dark haired senshi shifted and turned as he looked around, as if he could see them - and he did!
They were up on a roof top as well and after some moments of indecision, where he tried to think of reasons to not be friendly, he found himself raising a hand and waving. There was no reason not to be friendly and at least wave, let them come if they wanted to. He didn't want to go to them, just in case they had somewhere to be or something to do...or just didn't want him around them. So far he'd not had any bad interaction with another senshi, or had one push him away, but statistically it was really only a matter of time.

It took Sisyphus a moment to respond -- half-turning in place to make sure there was no one behind him [a mistake he'd made before in his life, though mostly out of uniform] before he raised his own hand in a slow, vaguely-uncertain wave. Once that was done, though, the moment was past; he relaxed and, waving more enthusiastically, kicked back into motion, hopping across his own roof and toward the other.
This, at least, he could do. Time spent under Laoise's watch meant that he knew how to move across the roofs and fast, even if he still got breathless too easy, was puffing a bit as he jumped in beside Chaldene at last.
"...um." Of course, he still didn't know what to say. And likely never would. "Uh. Hi."

Was the other not interested? That was fine...he was used to that, more than used to it. Perhaps he should just continue on his way? But the other was moving and he stood rooted to his spot watching, where they coming closer...yes they were. Would they just go right on by him? Well maybe not considering the second wave he'd gotten from them, right before they'd taken off toward him.
Hope fluttered within him for a moment. This was a senshi who wasn't higher in level than him, the first one he'd be meeting. So he was happy about this meeting.
Staring for a moment he nodded his head. "Hi...Umm..." Oh god...what to say? Finally he offered a hand to the other. "Chaldene, and you?" That was the best way to break the ice, right?

Not Sisyphus's first meeting but -- but. It was the first not tainted by the touch of Chaos, by actual officers or just by the after-effects of mirror wraiths. It meant that usually-cautious Sisyphus instead flashed an actual smile at the other senshi and reached out to take his hand immediately.
He shook like an adult, even if he looked younger than his 17 years; firm, careful, polite, brief, direct. A business like handshake that didn't go with his excited eyes and the slight bounce in his step.
"Sisyphus." He took his hand back and, awkwardly, smoothed down his tie, tugging it neatly into place. "Wow. Uh. You live around here?"

His own hand shake was more hesitant and perhaps showed his nervousness. He wasn't social and this was still all new to him, though after the carnival he felt a little less new, a little more scuffed up and dirty. Being so social, like he'd been lately, was certainly still new and awkward for him for him though.
"No, a friend attends university here. I went to return a book I borrowed...apparently he doesn't need it any more." He said motioning to the English Lit book held in one hand and had pressed to his hip. It was a fairly thick book with a soft cover, the cover wasn't pristine in that it had a slight curl or bend to it.
"You? I mean you live around here?" He asked as already started on his stumbling of words, he really should get better at this talking to people thing. It seemed he'd be doing that a lot more now with this whole senshi thing.

Sisyphus tipped his head to take in the book, hat tipping on his head as he did, a hand raised to thoughtlessly settle it back into place. He was a little flushed, embarrassed and curious both. Maybe a bit more than he should have been just to meet another senshi, but --
"Uh. No, I just. I work down that way..." He started to point, straightening again, and then hesitated. Smiling in an uncertain sort of way, now, before it entirely flickered out. "Um. Crap. Are we supposed to just say it like that? I mean it's okay, right?"
He shifted to look around them, slowly.

"Say what like what? I don't think there is some manual on how we're supposed to talk to each other...or some set protocol...unless someone, or several someones, failed to mention it to me. I think we're free to talk to each other as we would were we clueless civilians." He spoke as he wondered just what the other meant. Was this about telling him where he lived? Even though the other had only started to point in a general direction of where he worked, it wasn't like Sisyphus had given him the name of the place.
"I don't think there is anything wrong with us, or anyone on the same side, to talk so openly. No one else is around or can hear us..." He stated, even as he glanced around anyway.

In reply, Sisyphus offered another small flicker of a smile -- though it lacked the enthusiasm, now. He shifted to shove his hands into the pockets of his shorts, already out of things to say, fumbling to fill the air between them. No surprise. He had never been the king of social interactions, and merely being in a uniform hardly helped....
"I. Um. I admit, I...don't meet people out and about much. Just a couple times." There was a beat, uncertain. "Well, maybe I hit the other side relatively often..."

"I've met a few...but no one the same rank...It's nice to do that finally - not that I disliked those I met before. It's just that meeting all eternals is kinda...well you can learn from them. But I feel so clueless." And while he was mostly clueless, there was no denying it, it didn't mean he liked feeling that way.
"I don't talk to people much...I mean I think I've done more talking to people like this." Gesturing to his uniform. "Than I've done as a civilian in a long time. Not to say I don't have friends!" Here he went again babbling due to his own nerves, and feeling he was messing things up that he said. "I do - have friends - it's just that I don't meet new people as a civilian." Biting down on his bottom lip he found himself staring at the other for a moment, wondering what he meant. "Hit the other side?"

It was so different from Sisyphus, who seemed to go tongue-tied most of the time in uniform -- though, maybe not, since he also seemed to get tongue-tied out of uniform. He blinked up at Chaldene, considering that, reaching up to take off his hat and turn it over in his hands. Nervous fidgeting, uncertain maybe.
"The other side. You know. Negaverse. With their weapons and everything." He stared down into his hat as he twirled it between his fingers, a fumbling little gesture. "The Other Side."

"Oh! I've had a few run in's with them...nothing too good really." He stated with a flushing of his cheeks. He really hadn't done so well against them, and remembering almost being thrown from a roof top was a memory he couldn't escape just yet. He'd come so close to death, he wondered what his mother would have done had he wound up dead. Would his father have mourned his loss? Or would he be too drunk to care, and maybe even too drunk to notice. It was something he now did ponder, family and friends reactions if he did die at some point. What about his friends online? Would they even know or would someone somehow tell them?
He supposed the thoughts would ease and slip to the back of his mind as time went on, and as that close encounter faded around the edges. "I wasn't sure if what you'd said, or rather how you said it, was some new term I didn't know. Umm...but yeah, not a fan of the Negaverse..."

So awkward. Sisyphus blinked up and him and, perhaps it was backwards, but Chaldene's discomfort put him at ease. It was reassuring to find someone else who stuttered a bit and stumbled with making sense. It even made him smile again, a brief twitch across his mouth. Understanding. "Which way are you going? I was going to...I don't know, I was kind of headed toward home, but..." He made a wobbly so-so gesture. "We could go together, just in case we bump into someone."

"I was headed home also...but yeah we could go together - in case. I mean it would be safer even if we're out powered." He said nodding his head a little too quickly, the movement a bit jerky. His smile a little awkward. He really wasn't good with being so social but he was trying, he would need to learn in order to survive this new twist in his life. He couldn't, for the first time ever, rely on his friends to make friends for him. He had to do this on his own and make friends and allies.
"Umm...lead the way." And once the other was home he'd be on his own way home, he just hoped he didn't have any run in's along the way. He'd like to avoid those for a while - thank you very much. Noting the others smile, finally, he found himself smiling a bit more as he tried to relax. He needed to work on these skills, skills he'd not used in so many years they seemed dead or on vacation.
