He was gong to show them all! Perhaps it was naive optimism or rather stubborness that was getting the best of him but the shifter/alkidike mix wasn't about to let anything slow him down. He had fully intended to go to the islands where the rest of the alkidikes lived and prove himself to them! Show them just how a hybrid could be better than a regular old pure blood.
The young hybrid was moving through the forest at a quick pace but as per the norm he always had to stop...when he reached the shores of the beach. He would feel the sand on his toes and he would then find himself sitting down in the warmth. The sea breeze tussled his hair and he gave a small crooked smile. The islands seemed so close and so far. It wasn't as if he could just swim across that would be suicide. though some part of it was tempting to see if he could do it....the foolish part of him anyway.
As peaceful as it was sitting there on the beach it wasn't accomplishing anything and already he was starting to find himself antsy . Moving to stand up the young hybrid crossed his arms over his head, gave a long hmmmm as he thought on the best way to approach the island before turning right and walking down the beach. Maybe..if he was lucky he would find a boat!

Xolani wiggled his toes as he felt the sand shift through them. He hadn't been on the coast in so long, and while he yearned more to visit Tale again since he had picked up wandering again (with the promise of coming back to visit his father ever now and then) he found himself in the complete opposite direction of which he had intended, though by the look on the mix breeds face he didn't mind. His expression was one of contentment as he inhaled the breeze, though he had to be wary, Alkidikes really were never fond of seeing shifters or any other race on this beach looking towards their home island. Still, he couldn't help but wonder if that one he met made it home safely. She had been rather badly wounded after all. Xolani shrugged to himself, noting that she was more than likely fine, though there might have been wound infections if she didn't care for her cuts.
Perched upon his head was Rangi, the sailscale that he had befriended. She was taking this moment to soak up the sun while her perch remained still. Her tongue flicked a few times, tasting the surroundings, and at first nothing was really new, but a breeze brought a new taste and she lifted her head and peered down the shoreline to see what it could be.
Xolani could feel his friend shift upon his noggin, so he decided to look as well. In the distance was a figure, blue skinned like he, but with jet black hair, much like the woman he had met before. How very interesting! He gave the figure a wave, and Rangi seemed to attempt to mimic the motion with a wing, but stopped as she nearly caused herself to topple.

Walking down the beach it was easy to tell the mix breed was distracted, his gaze locked onto the islands as he tried to figure out distances between the two shores. So focused he didn't realize he was coming up on another person. But it was a strange occurrence when he finally did turn his head spotted the boy and then the thing on his head.
Blinking he was about to call out, warn the guy he had something trying to attack his head, but a log decided to get in his way and trip him up. Falling forward he instinctively tried to use his hands to brace his fall. It was probably a bad idea for though it saved him from a face full of sand his arms hurt something awful.
Rolling onto his side he brought his arms tenderly to his chest, hissing as the pain radiated up his arm. Worried he tried to flex his hands to make sure nothing was broken and though it hurt..he was still able to move everything. Thank goodness.

Rangi chittered with amusement at the display that the fellow had put on. Xolani playfully swatted at her lightly before plucking her off so he could move with a bit of haste to the other's side to see if he was okay.
"You alright there friend?" he asked, giving the fellow a once over. Nothing was jutting out so at least he didn't seem to be in any immediate danger, and he was moving around in a way that showed that nothing seemed broken. "Gotta watch out for those logs. They like to sneak up on you when you least expect it," he said with a smile, offering a hand to assist the fellow back onto his feet.
Rangi flicked her tongue at the new fellow as she peeked around from Xolani's legs, tilting her frilled head in curiosity at him.

Gerraden was distracted by the pain in his arms, him testing them out making sure nothing was broken to notice the one approaching him. The shadow cast upon him finally brought him out of his pain numbed brain and he glanced up to see the mix breed in front of him.
It also took him a moment to realize he had spoken to him as well.
"Oh, yeah I think I am okay." He managed as he sat up brushing sand off his limbs slowly and gingerly. He cracked a smile despite the pain at the others comment about logs tripping people up.
"I know those dangerous things should be made into fire wood. ". He replied with a laugh. Gerraden was a good natured fellow and enjoyed a good joke even at his own expense. Looking up he shielded his eyes from the glare of the sun.
"You...have something..on your head."

"Indeed, firewood is usually the best fate for such beasties," Xolani chuckled. He then looked confused as the other stated he had something on his head. He patted it, and it was vacant, due to the removal of the sailscale prior. He was about to question it, but then recalled that his charge was using his head as a perch when they first came to view for the lad.
"Ah, that was Rangi. She likes sitting up there when it's sunny," he mused as the winged lizard perked up at the sound of her name. She then continued to stare at the new fellow, unsure if he was safe to get close to to smell.

Gerraden had wondered what it had been, after all he hadn't seen anything like that in these forests. "So..this Rangi is a pet?" He inquired as he went to stand up and dust the sand off of his pants. "I had never seen anything like it before, I thought it may of been attacking you..but then I realized you weren't really panicked."
He gave a grin wondering if he would be allowed to get a closer inspection of the creature called Rangi. "So is she tame? Where did you get her? She looks really interesting." He commented as he didn't want to invade the boy's space by coming closer to look at the pet.

Xolani nodded. "She is my animal companion yes, and for the most part she is tame," he said. "Father says they are usually found far off from here in Sauti but I found her lazing about in the treetops near my home. There is a chance she came on a wayward breeze, but I cannot be certain just how she came such a distance as I am not very fluent in any sort of lizard dialect,"
Rangi decided it was safe to sort of skuttle out from behind her friend's legs and wiggle her way over to the other one. Her tongue flicked at one of his legs, trying to get a good scent.

Gerraden moved in closer so he could get a better look at the creature, kneeling slowly he then offered a hand for the creature to smell. That was curious, a creature all the way from Sauti? That seemed awful far for something this small to travel. Perhaps Xolani's theory was true, a strong wind could of carried it this far. "She is really neat, your lucky to have such a companion with you." The hybrid mentioned with a small nod of his head. He didn't have any companions himself, then again he was so busy trying to find a way to the isles that he wouldn't have time to look after a pet. "How long have you had her?"
