Gogv
Moving out of her parents' den was probably the best decision Gogv had ever made, in her opinion. It didn't afford her a great deal more privacy than she had before given the size of her family and her parents' loving, nurturing ways, but it at least gave her the illusion of privacy, and she liked that. She also liked that it was much easier to go out and do things on her own because there weren't lots of bodies for her to maneuver around and over and all that. It wasn't even as if she missed out on news or anything since her den was still fairly near to her parents'. They could (and did) drop by whenever they felt like it. That was how she'd found out that he favorite brother had returned.

She was pleased to hear that because she had missed him since he left, but at the same time she was still resentful that he hadn't taken her with him. And that he had not yet come to visit her. She refused - absolutely refused - to seek him out. He was the one who had left. He ought to be the one to look for her and maybe grovel a bit for leaving her behind with all these nice but simple folks.

Dene
Dene was happy to be home. Even if he missed his brother that still hadn't returned. It seemed to be all he thought about, beyond the new female that had joined..He had met her on his travels before, and it was nice to have a familiar face. He hadn't grown up here, and hte faces of his pridemates just really weren't as familiar as he would have liked. Time would fix that, but for now, he felt a bit antisocial. He had picked a prime den for himself, with plenty of room for him and others, should he choose. But for now, it was a spacey place to house himself. He hadn't really sought out any of his family. Hell he hadn't even seen his father, but his mother had come to see him. He stretched his body, happy to be home. It felt right, being here. He exited his den, his eyes roving over all the milling lions. The day had officially started he guessed, though he didn't really feel like being entirely productive. He debated going to see his family, the first time since his return. His brothers, his sister, even his new siblings.. they all were expecting him, surely. So he made his way towards the family den, hoping to make rounds to see all of them.

Gogv
Gogv's den wasn't luxurious, but there was no need for it to be. She had no plans to take a mate or have cubs, and having a small space made people less inclined to hang around when they visited. The fact that it was about as far away from the rest of the clan as possible was a bonus in her eyes. In her youth she had thought that she would grow up to lead the pride, but at some point during her adolescence she realized that she didn't really have anything in particular she wanted the pride to do under her leadership and so she had settled for a form of hermetic misanthropy that suited her quite well. If Dene was hoping to meet her at the family den, that simply wasn't going to happen. She didn't go there. Too many youngsters.

Still nursing a hurt butt about Dene's return and lack of visiting, Gogv decided to see if all the hunting parties had already left for the day, and if they hadn't, if any could use an extra set of teeth and claws on the hunt. It was pretty late in the day to go out with a dawn party and much too early for a twilight party, but she could use the excuse to get away from the clan. Her parents had begun to make noises about grandchildren the last time she'd seen them, and ye gods did she not want that. Not with any of the males in her clan anyway. They were all boring and stupid.

Despite the unlikeliness of finding a hunting band to go out with, Gogv set out from her den and put on one of her less surly expressions. In many ways she was no more emotionally mature than an adolescent, but it would not be wise to point that out to her. Most of the lions who had done so had scars from the experience.

Dene
The ebony male felt like he stuck out like a sore thumb. His lack of tattoos, his lack of knowing how to react with others in a group setting.. It all sort of made him feel uncomfortable. Like he should have done better. He should have tried harder to get home. But truth was he wasn't even sure he had wanted to return home. The scars on his body were proof of his efforts in the rogue lands. He had dispatched many evil souls, some even bent on making sure he didn't make it back home themselves. He had made enemies, but he was safe here..

His eyes landed on a similarly ebony female, her feather markings dotting her legs and she looked just as she had as a cub. He smiled, realizing her familiarity and then he gulped. He was still having a hard time talking to his family.. Afraid they would hate him.. Afraid that they would reject him for something beyond his control. Who was he kidding, as a cub it had been beyond his control. After? It was his own choice to stay gone.

"Sister.." He called, and immediately regretted it. He should have used her name.. But he was just so relieved at seeing her.. Seeing family.. She had been his favorite as a cub. She was the tough one, much like himself.

Gogv
It crossed Gogv's mind that she could easily give her errant brother the brush-off and get a little of her hurt pride back, but there was something in the tone of his voice when he called out to her that struck her. She told herself that she was not going soft, but that he was family and family, even when it was annoying as all get out, was different. You could not ignore it when family called to you. Well. Gogv could, and occasionally did, but that was different, too. This was Dene.

"Want to come kill things with me?" she asked without turning to look at her brother, though she did stop and wait so that he could catch up if he wanted to.

His lack of tattoos was unusual to her, but he had scars. She had seen those, though she had not had opportunity to study them. A part of her liked to imagine that the scars would tell his story in much the same way his tattoos would have done, had he remained in the pride. Except they would tell a different story, of course. She wasn't sure if she wanted to hear it yet. She still felt hurt that she had been left behind, and feigning disinterest was one of the only ways she could think of to keep the power balanced between them, like if she pretended hard enough that she didn't care, his feelings might be hurt like hers were.

Dene
She paused her steps, and he moved forward, quickening his pace to catch up with her. She didn't greet him like he had been gone for long, but as if it was just a normal day. He was kind of thankful for that but the itch to hug her was strong. He wasn't sure she had ever really been the hugging type though, so he let that itch go.

"Sure. Killing things sounds good." He said with a chuckle. Oh if only she knew the types he had killed out there. Not just food, but other felines. Lions that claimed themselves to be demons, or cannibals.. He had never imagined there would be lions out there that liked eating other lions.. And hell, he had a hell of a time even keeping his hare Jasira out of the fray. He was lucky she bore no scars that he did, though she had been there through it all.

"What's on the menu?" He asked, feeling his stomach gurgle a little. He realized he hadn't eaten today, and it was a bit late in the afternoon. Though he longed to ask her how she had been, he decided to take things as she had presented them.

Gogv
"Especially after prolonged exposure to our family," Gogv replied, testing the waters. He had come back, so she could safely assume he loved their family, but he had also left them - left her - and so that gave a girl cause to wonder.

She rolled her shoulders and resumed walking. "I don't know. I haven't given it much thought. I was probably going to see what small just-my-size things I could bring down on my own, but now that you're here maybe I can try for something more satisfying."

Her gaze slid toward his scarred hide. "Unless you got those scars by losing a lot of fights. In which case I think we had best not set our sights much higher than hares."

Dene cocked his head, looking at her for a moment. Though he could understand, as he had been fawned over much to his chagrin. And with Sam still lost out there? It was all he could do to be excited about being home again. He was here to stay, and his brother was gone. What if Samm didn't make it? No, he couldnt- wouldnt think that way.

But then her last sentence brought a small smile out of him. He shook his head, a tinge of a laugh in his voice.

"No, thankfully, they aren't from losing them." He looked down at himself, at his body that was riddled with pink scars from his time out in the rogue lands.

"Saving your damn brother too many of those times." He chuckled though there was a little truth in the statement. He had hated living amongst rogues. He had always been a family oriented guy.. But he had been removed from his family. He had been taken away from the best bonding years of his life. All he could do now, was hope for him to patch up the relationships he should have had years ago.

"Good to know you haven't shamed the family that way," she replied gruffly. It seemed she still cornered the market on being a crappy daughter. And sister. No doubt if she ever found a man she would also be a crappy wife and mother.

"I'm not sure I'll trust you to do the tracking. You seem to have misplaced our brother, after all." She couldn't help it. Gogv had always had the tendency to pick at whatever was likely to be a sore point until the other person blew up or crumpled under her withering disdain.

It had crossed her mind to dispute his use of possessive pronouns since Samm wasn't just her brother, but his, too. She decided, though, that it wasn't a fight worth having at the moment. Food was more important than arguing. At least for the time being.

"Follow me."

His ears went back only slightly at the shaming the family thing. Though he was trying to learn that he had to deal with the hurt of his family members. Though her brutal honesty was something he was thankful for. Everyone put on a happy face, merely happy to see him again. It was as iff they were afraid that he would disappear again should they say something wrong.
But Gogv wasn't like that. She was too honest to bullshit him.

"Samm misplaced himself, I take no credit for that." He chuckled, shaking his head for effect. No, he had told Samm where to go..Begged Samm to follow. But he had other plans. Like Adanna and her blonde charms. The very thought caused Dene to bristle.

Dene didn't say anything at her command, merely did as he was told. Following her as she had asked.

"I would take it as a very great personal favor if you would not do as he has done," Gogv said waspishly to her brother. "Not that our parents haven't done an admirable job of refilling the den with cubs."

She led the way down their mountain, where they were more likely to startle some small game.

"Is Samm likely to return from being lost?"

At her question, he looked at his paws and rolled his shoulders in what looked like a shrug.
"I don't know.. If you'd asked me before I'd have said of course. The longer time goes on I'm less convinced." He sighed, but then cleared his throat. That kind of thought would help no one.

"Yes it seems they have.." He frowned thinking of the large litter that had taken the place of the cubs he and his siblings had once been. It was weird, seeing them after so long, and cubs still being around.
