It was another day wandering the streets. Most would probably label the Nao's leniency "irresponsibility" but after the first few years of temper tantrums and mischief making, no matter where they went or who they were with, the Nao's quickly learned it was best just to give Prajna its daytime freedom in exchange for nighttime peace. In exchange for a spare key and the ability to explore Durem during the day, Prajna was required to be home by dinner and to remain within Durem's borders. If lost, it was to go into the nearest store and call Namini's cell phone, a number the Frei had long memorized. So yet again, Prajna was wandering the streets, wishing it had something cool to consume. The crowds and the sun were unbearable today, making the Star wonder why more people weren't out enjoying Gambino's beaches or Barton's lakes.
Taking a moment to "sit" underneath a tree and its shade, Prajna scanned the crowd in hopes for a familiar face...or body. It had been a while since the Star had run into anyone, especially in the open Durem streets, but it didn't hurt to try. Last time, it had been Cruz. The time before, Cesc in the park. Today, the redhead wondered if Fate would introduce it to someone new. ...For a moment, Prajna considered its luck. Maybe something bad would happen instead? Then Prajna remembered when it met Cesc. It rubbed its cheek. A fly ball to the face should have been enough to satisfy Karma already.
That's when it saw her. A blur of lavender and black. Carefully, Prajna hid behind the tree and its shade, an eye never leaving the female Frei's silhouette. Who... was that?

She had entered the park as both a means for a shortcut as well as a bit of shady relief from the utterly unbearable afternoon heat. It wasn't the sun that bothered her - not when she had her trusty parasol in her hand of course - but the ever present heat that rose and steamed and lingered when the daytime hours beat it into the streets and everything else that could hold it. When Anastacia had reached the first bit of shade when she passed through the parks gates, she had taken a minute to enjoy the cooler temperatures beneath an oak tree's leafy boughs and simply breath. It hadn't taken her long to get that growing feeling of fullness and for the life of her she wished it was something she could turn off whenever she wanted to. Her life would have been so much easier if it were the case.
After a few moment's rest she was on the move again. Her destination today was the little arts and crafts store she had found tucked in between some monster-sized this-or-that stores just off of Durem's main street. It was a nice little place - cool and off the beaten path - but the best things about it was that it seemingly had everything she needed and they had given her a savings card upon her umpteenth return (though she only took the little plastic thing after Zeke had told her if she accepted the next time she was asked, she would in essence be saving money with each purchase, not losing it). That card was tucked into her bag along with one of her newest projects and other personal effects. It was a dress for herself, however she had run out of fabric for it and needed more. It was one of those frustrating facts of life, but one made better by the fact Zeke had given her enough money to buy what she needed and perhaps have some left over for a little something extra to treat herself with. She looked forward to seeing what she had left when the time came.
On a hot day like today and even though she wanted to get what she needed as soon as possible, Anya couldn't make herself want to leave the park very quickly. It was the shade, and the cool mist that billowed off its many fountains, even though there were people in spades here today. On one hand she couldn't blame them for doing exactly what she had done, but on the other it was annoying as hell trying to get from one end to the other and having to dodge everyone and everything that came in the opposite direction. This was made all the more infuriating when a portly male jogger - sweaty and puffing with every step - almost ran right into her as she neared the park's other exit. Anastacia felt her bag get knocked, and she quickly turned to snap two sour words.
"Watch it!" She flared her wings and crown at the man's retreating, and extremely hairy, back but with the earbuds crammed into his ears, he didn't even so much as know she even existed. The spider queen immediately took off with a scowl now on her face and she shifted her bag up higher onto her shoulder as she exited the park. In her haste to leave and get out of this people-filled plaza, she hadn't realized that her whole reason for braving the June heat had been spilled from her makeshift purse and was now lying on a sunny sidewalk behind her in a billowy blue heap.

As the redhead watched the lilac colored Frei shift amongst the crowds, it took mental note of all her smallest features, in a way sizing her up. Prajna noted the effortless elegance of her hair, the lower half floating behind her like a shimmering veil, the upper half pinned up in a strict bun. At the bun’s base, there was an unusual contraption, something of a hair piece which extended around the woman’s face. The hairpiece made Prajna think of all the medieval television shows it had watched where a fair lady or high ranking individual was constantly escorted by a number of guardsmen. Conversely, Prajna also recalled one episode where the princess being guarded did not have her knights around solely to keep the world away from her but to keep herself away from them. Prajna recalled how indifferent to others that princess had been and how it took a special kind of prince to open her up—
Oh.
Prajna lost her.
In a moment of anxious panic and childish excitement to recover this new discovery, Prajna floated to another tree and then across the street so that it was floating several feet behind the regal Frei. It was hard to say whether Prajna felt intimidated or simply captivated by her, but Prajna remained cautious. From the back, the Star could note the eerie details of her wings, if one could even call them wings rather than oddly placed legs or gothic appendages. Suddenly, a man interrupted both Freis’ train of thought as he roughly bumped into the Spider, causing her to hiss and flare her wings and crown. He continued as if nothing had happened, seemingly murmuring a soundless one-word apology…or maybe just lip syncing, but Prajna had immediately hidden behind a store sign. Its chest felt as if it were to explode! To think she could have spotted the awkward redhead!
Once the man had passed, Prajna peeked back after the Spider. As she adjusted a bag on her shoulder, Prajna caught a glimpse of her face. Red eyeshadow. Red lips. Amethyst eyes that Prajna found more piercing than its own… which was a great feat. And a set of four peculiar… insect? eyes on her forehead. Then something …blue? Once adjusted, she turned and continued back down the shady sidewalk, now it seemed in a much greater haste. Prajna decided it had to meet her. Good or bad, Prajna didn’t care.
For a moment, curiosity took over and all Prajna wanted to do was get a closer look of her face. Something about her cold character, her dark yet regal presence reminded Prajna of one of its favorite people, someone it hadn’t seen in a long time and someone the Star could only hope this newcomer was just as captivating as. It had been a long time since Vyn and Prajna wondered if looks meant anything in terms of establishing a new relationship. This new Frei looked like Vyn and Prajna had gotten along well enough with her. So hopefully…they would come together similarly?
As Prajna let the Spider widen the distance between them but not disappear out of sight, the androgynous soul quickly bolted out from behind the sign and floated down the sidewalk after her. Just as Prajna noted her entering a small crafts store, it paused halfway down the path. The something blue! Approaching the spot where the violet lady had “stood” just moments before, Prajna noted a small pile of blue… fabric? It picked the pile up and explored it with its fingers. Soft. A texture Prajna did not see the foreigner wearing so the Star concluded it was for someone else? Unaware of social courtesies, the Star unraveled the pile and examined it further.
Was it supposed to be a dress?
Cocking a brow, Prajna folded the fabric into a neat square while looking back at the store. Without much thought, it proceeded to enter the well air-conditioned store and weave through the aisles, looking for the mysterious Frei and also an explanation.
