Ashleigh, probably more commonly know as Ash or Leah grinned as she hobbled into the bistro with her mother for lunch. It was a girl day for the pair, and Leah was loving it. They had been shopping already and gotten their nails done and now they were popping into a nice bistro for a bit of lunch.
Her mom and dad were really lathering their kids in love and attention after what had happened at the carnival, with no real way to explain it, they just did their best to comfort their kids and themselves. A little extra spoiling could surely help a bit. It was only just last night they managed to convince the two oldest to sleep at least in a room together and not in their parents room, but it wasn't happening with their two youngest.
Neither had so much as even looked to their rooms at bedtime, but their parents weren't going to push, clearly their kids needed them right now.
Leah pointed to a table and grinned, "Mom, do you think they can give us a table by the window. It's really nice out and I want to sit in a sunny spot."

Today was a mostly good day for Daniel. He'd gotten to go to his father's bistro to watch people work, and while he couldn't help, he got to learn by watching, and right now, he was being allowed to take a nice break to see the customers, maybe get some water. Daniel scurried from the back cheerily, the television airing some spanish channels for customers, Mariachi in the background. Daniel knew his brother was waiting tables, and he moved to look around, tilting his head as a mother and daughter were waiting for help seating. WELL. This was interesting. Very carefully, he weighed options before approaching. Best help out his father. "Hello, are you here to eat?" Daniel was mostly addressing Leigh's mother, looking as well behaved as he could. He was trying to be good!

Dee tried to not absolutely awww at the young boy who asked they if they were there to eat, thinking him severely cute. Instead she nodded, "yes. We saw the Bistro and Leah here wanted to try it."
Leah smiled, "Hello." She gave a slightly shy waved before looking, "I saw this place before, but this is only the first time we could come into to eat. Last time mom said next time and so here we are."
Dee smiled at her daughter, thinking the girl as social butterfly, she was always one to speak for herself even if it got her into trouble. Sometimes she could be a little too grown up.
"Do you know if we can sit by a window? We want to sit in some sun," she said with a smile before looking at her mom, "right?"
Dee nodded giving Leah's back a quick rub.

Oh, her daughter was shy. Okay. Daniel however, waved politely, and thought about how to best answer her mother a moment. "I think so. My brother is a waiter. If he doesn't know, Papa is cooking in the back right now." For a moment, Daniel turned, calling to someone in Spanish. A reply was quick to return, and a quick question before he looked up. "Yes, there's a window seat. My brother said I could show you if it's okay. I've been watching all day what to do, so I could elp out when I am old enough." And it wasn't really a problem if he helped. The staff pretty much knew him.

Leah was watching the boy with intense interest when he started to speak Spanish finding it very interesting. At school, they learned a few spanish words here and there, but not whole sentences like Daniel had just spoken. Her look was one of aww and slightly one of envy.
"Thank you," Dee said smiling at Daniel before she was tugged by her daughter to follow the boy to there table.
"You speak Spanish," Leah said matter of factly, "I want to learn to speak another language, but they don't start teaching it in school until sixth grade and everyone in my family only speaks English."
Dee looked down at her daughter and shook her head lightly.Novacracker Actually lolz, Dee (the mom) barely spoke at all, Leah (Ashleigh) is doing most of the talking. Sorry if I confused you.

Kaori_luv No problem, made sense to me. Daniel blinked as he collected two menus and two sets of silverware wrapped in a napkin each. "It is not a problem." He blinked again. Spanish was different? For him it was as normal as English, only he spoke it with family or with others whom were fluent, and when visiting his grandparents in Mexico. He was more surprised someone else didn't speak it. "Yes, my family speaks Spanish at home, and English, but mostly Spanish. My Abuela and Abuelo are in Mexico as well, and it is all they speak." He wasn't offended, but he was surprised. "I've always spoken both." She only spoke words? .... There was a Spanish Class at school? "They teach Spanish at schools?" Someone didn't take it, or know people who did.

Dee smiled at the young boy and Leah beemed following right behind him listening to him. It was neat to hear his family spoke spanish as well and a little cool to hear he knew someone in Mexico.
"What's an abeula and an abuelo," she asked curiously not recalling the terms despite being apart of the first Dora generation. She'd grown out of it 6 years ago when she was 4, but had been particularly obsessed with it until then. Still she didn't remember the words for grandmother and grandfather.
Leah nodded to his question about teaching spanish in school. "A lot of people speak spanish so they teach it in school, right mom?"
Dee smiled, "well I'm not exactly sure how that works. When I was a child they offered french more commonly, but french isn't as common a language anymore, so I suppose that's how it works. Seems a good enough theory, she said smoothing the hair or her daughter's head slightly.
"As far as everyone speaking only English in our family, that may be true now, but it wasn't always. You grandfather's father was Italian and he spoke Italian, but your father only knows a few words."
Leah looked at her mother in shock, why hadn't she know that. Maybe she ought to pay more attention when her mom and dad talked about the past. She frowned slightly before looking back to Daniel, "anyway what do you like to eat most here?"

"Well," Daniel spoke slowly. "Abuela is Grandmother, Abuelo is Grandfather." He said calmly. He listened to the older lady's explanation of language, blinking in curiosity "A laguage might be fun." Daniel nodded. "Wow." And then... What he liked most. "Well, chili rellenos are good, and so is the flan." But he was biased. "I know the chiles are not hot, but you can request habeneros if you like hot." He smiled proudly. He was going to be a great chef one day!.

Leah listened and nodded, making a mental note of the words so she wouldn't forget them. They'd be to less words she need to learn when she was finally able to take Spanish. She grinned at Daniel and nodded, she couldn't wait to take a foreign language, but she looked to her mother wondering how she hadn't know that in all the ten years she'd been alive.
"I want to learn Italian," she exclaimed loudly making her mother laugh lightly.
"Your grandfather and great grandfather would be happy to teach you, the Grandpa Toni's hearing is a rough these days. I think he needs a hearing aid, but he's so stubborn."
Leah nodded and turned her attention back to Daniel not sure what either thing was but deciding she'd rather not spicy at the moment. She looked to her mother, "Can we try the chiles, please? I want flan too, but not habeneros. I don't really want spicy today."
Dee nodded and looked to Daniel, "will you be taking our order as well or will someone else?"

Daniel grinned at the excitement. Knowing more than two languages sounded neat, and he'd never heard much Italian outside in the Italian neighborhood, and the boy watched before looking up. "Well, less spicy chiles are sometimes jalapeno or serrano, but it also depends on what kind of spicy you can eat. ..Order? Ah, no, Papa says I'm too little, but a waiter will." He bowed politely. And then he smiled. "Papa said my handwriting isn't good enough yet." But he moved to go find a free waiter, tugging and pulling them to go over - not that he needed to, one was already coming, dressed in a casual festive suit, smiling. "Hello, Hello, welcome!"

Leah listened to Daniel's explanation, but then gave a little giggle when he talked about not being able to take their order because he was too little and didn't have good enough handwriting. It was true of boys their age, none of the boys in her class had particularly good handwriting, but her's was pretty good she thought.
Leah grinned at the waiter that Daniel brought over, "Hi, we're ready to order. Daniel helped us decide. Right mom?"
Dee have an nod and smiled, "Hello and yes you all have quite a little helper here in the young man. Leah love, have you decided on a drink?"
Leah nodded, "can I have an apple juice please?"
Dee smiled at her daughter, "and I'll have a water please. And we're ready to order if you're ready."

The waiter nodded, writing the orders down as Daniel seemed to move away a bit to let the man work, the waiter nodding. "Yes, and what would you like?" They beamed pleasantly as waitstaff was wont to do, smiling warmly as he waited patiently. Daniel returned from inspecting the host station to peer curiously, earning gentle shooing from the waiter. Silly, restless boy.

Dee smiled at the waiter, but Leah was looking at Daniel standing off a ways. She gave the boy a grin, tempted to slip out of her chair and head over to him while her mother ordered for them. The food wouldn't be ready for a while yet.
Dee ordered, only noticing briefly when he daughter disappeared, following her movement out of the corner of her eye as the little girl hobbled off. She didn't stop her, Leah had been glued to her side or her father's since the carnival, any small step towards a small amount of independence within her sights was a good thing.
Leah made her way over to Daniel, "is it fun to have a family restaurant," she asked when she reached him. "Doesn't seem like they let you do much, even though you seem old enough to me."

"It can be." Daniel admitted honestly, then beamed. "I'm not strong enough to carry orders yet, but Papa says hosting is very important, and so is learning to cook." Daniel nodded sagely, as if he knew more than he did. In reality, he didn't, and he knew it, but there was no harm showing off just a little bit.

Leah smiled and nodded, "I think you're a pretty good host, certainly plenty friendly. Are you learning to cook, can you cook yet? I can only make a few breakfast things and small things like grinned cheese. That doesn't require much stove work. My mom does most of the cooking at home."
Leah plopped down in a chair close to Daniel and peered curiously around. "My family has a spa and salon. I don't get to do much there, but I do get to play with the mannequin heads sometimes and play on the computer. When I get older I'm going to work there though, I'm sure of it."
