Fruit Punch trotted along on his way to the fountain in the park where was supposed to be meeting a friend of his sister's. What was her name again, Sunny Delight..? Something like that. Apparently Pink Lemonade had met some other foals that had an interest in the bar he wanted to create and they had some skills to offer. One was a cook, the other he didn't know anything about... but that was okay, because he was going to meet her today and they could sort this out.
The little colt already had plenty of ideas brewing in his brain of what would make the perfect bar that everyphony would want to come to, and he was sure there was some place this filly could fit in. He even practiced every day making and searching for new tasty drink recipes. He would be a master bartender yet! He came to a stop once with a pleased grin once he reached his destination, waiting for the yellow pegasus he had never met before to show up. Today was going to be awesome.

Sunny Delight was still on cloud nine. Now she had a goal, and she had a partner to make that goal happen! In fact, she had more partners than she thought. Her brother had mentioned someone named Pink Lemonade, and apparently she had a brother that was going to be involved too. This just got better and better! With all of them working together, they were sure to make the best food-and-drink place in all of Phonyland!
She was a couple of minutes late to her meeting with this other brother, slightly out of breath from running all the way. Once she spotted the fountain, and the unicorn waiting there, she skidded to a stop, putting out her wings to help her brake. "HisorryI'mlate!" A few deep breaths later, she was able to speak at a more normal speed. "I'm Sunny Delight! And you're, uh." Come to think of it, Midnight Snack never mentioned this phony's name. "You're a brother, right? My brother's friend's brother?"

The wait wasn't too much longer before a filly came out of nowhere and dashed right up to him, although he didn't recognize her one bit. Pink Lemonade hadn't given him much of a description of who he was coming to meet at all today, so the unicorn really had no idea who might come up and talk to him. He looked her over, and this cute girl was as bright as the sun... She probably was Sunny Whatever-her-name-was, but he'd wait for her to introduce herself first. Once she caught her breath, the redhead smiled and laughed when she attempted to make a guess at his identity.
Yeah, I'm Fruit Punch. Nice to meet'cha, Sunny. If you mean Pink Lemonade's bro, that would be me. I heard you wanted to work with me and my sister on the bar? I dunno what you could do to help out, but I'm open to all suggestions." The little colt hadn't actively been seeking help with the dream project, but he appreciated his sister's scouting efforts nonetheless. For all he knew, Sunny Delight could be very useful to the cause.

"Bar?" Sunny blinked. What was this bar thing that he was talking about? For a moment, she thought she had the wrong colt, but he did say that he was Pink Lemonade's brother. Was a bar some kind of slangy term for restaurant? A general word for a place of awesomeitude?
Eventually, she decided to just go along with it. "Sure, I guess! Snackeroo- that's my brother, Midnight Snack- he said he was gonna do all sorts of yummy food things. But he's really a night owl, or a night phony I guess, and I want to help people get a good start to their day, so we figured I could do the morning stuff! What about you, what're you doing?"
This was pretty exciting, actually. With so many phonies working together, they were bound to make something totally incredible! Even if she wasn't totally sure what Fruit Punch was talking about.

A good start to their day..? Whaaat? What was she talking about? Fruit Punch look utterly confused, squinting a bit as if Sunny Delight had suddenly said she wasn't really a pegasus, but a piece of flying buttered toast. It didn't make any sense at all. He struggled to form words coherently for a second there, but with a slight grunt, he decided to just be blunt with her. His cheery mood had just gone right out the proverbial window.
"Yeah, uh... That's not gonna work. The place I want to run is a bar, not a breakfast book club. Bars open in the evening and serve adult drinks. I'm gonna be the bartender. Some have music and dancing... I guess I could show sports on TVs if I wanted. Food's a great addition, but I'm not looking for daylight stuff." He was completely serious, wondering if maybe not all the lights were on upstairs for Sunny Delight. How could she not know what a bar was supposed to be like? She must not have cool parents like his moms or something.

What on earth was this unicorn going on about? Sunny liked music and dancing, and she had no real problem with sports on TV, even if she wasn't really interesting in watching other phonies play games. But all of those things were, to her, daytime things. So why was he insisting that they had to be done at night, and shutting her down before she even got started?
"Well, why can't there be daylight stuff too?" she asked, starting to frown. "And stuff for all phonies, not just grown-ups? You're not even a grown-up yet!" Exclusive attitudes baffled Sunny, and Fruit Punch was starting to sound mean, rather than just picky. Well, she wasn't going to back down! "You're not the only one doing this, so you can't say that I'm wrong and you're right! I have just as much say as you do!" She just barely refrained from adding 'so there,' though she was certainly thinking it.

DivineSaturn Sorry it's taken me so long to get back to this! I just recently got a job and it's been taking me a while to get my schedule back on track. ;; Fruit Punch frowned back right when Sunny started giving her own disapproval of his conditions for the bar, which he had already been sure everyone else on staff seemed to understand and agree to. Maybe his sister Pink Lemonade had just told Sunny Delight that she could add whatever she wanted to the bar's idea. Well, he'd have to set this girl and PL both straight. When she retorted that he couldn't do whatever he wanted just because, the unicorn corrected her.
"I can do whatever I want, because this is MY bar! I came up with the idea for it in the first place, and you're just tagging along since my sister let you join us. So what if I'm not grown up? I'm busy thinking ahead instead of daydreaming like you are." His nose was upturned, quite clearly looking down now on the yellow filly.

Hopelessly Pretty No worries! ^^ Congrats on the new job! Glad things are starting to settle down for you. "I'm not saying you shouldn't do what you want," Sunny protested, really confused now. "But how come you're the only one who gets to decide, when all of us are supposed to work together? That's not fair to anyone else! I'm working hard too, and, and..." What else was there to say? Not much. It seemed like they had reached an impasse.
One thing was certain. If Sunny didn't get to do her morning thing, she wanted no part of this bar. And she had no problem saying so. "I don't need to listen to this! I can do my own thing, without anyone to say I'm doing it wrong. Except... oh."
If she walked away from this project, it would be like walking away from Midnight Snack, and that wasn't something she was prepared to do. They'd promised to work together, to wake people up and make them happy and all sorts of stuff. Sunny didn't want to change that, or to ruin a decision he'd already made. If she went off to do her own thing, her brother would have to decide who to work with, and she didn't want to force him to do that. Largely because she wasn't totally sure the decision would go in her favor.
"Wait." Sunny was hesitant; normally she had no problem admitting that she was wrong, but in this case, she still wasn't sure what she'd done that was so bad. Had she judged too quickly? Started yelling instead of hearing him out? That might've been it. "I didn't mean to say you were wrong without hearing everything. I just really got scared when it sounded like there wasn't a place for me. I really want to work with Snackers, and he wants to work with Pink Lemonade, and she wants to work with you. So I guess I want to work with you too. Please."
Her apology was more desperate than it was apologetic, but it was a start.

Fruit Punch opened his mouth to retort a third time, figuring that he had said enough to deter Sunny Delight from adding a breakfast menu to the bar, but he could probably drive the point home. He stopped short however, when the girl said that she quit. Well, alright then. Problem solved! She'd figured it out all by herself, and so the red headed colt nodded with agreement to her decision to leave the team. It was only when she turned back around to face him that he actually stopped to listen to what she was saying, disregarding his own personal feelings on the matter.
This was supposed to be about family. She was absolutely right. It was FP's pride getting in the way all along, telling him that if he wanted to be the best, he'd have to pull a lot of the weight on his own. That's wasn't true at all, though. He'd wanted to start this bar with his sister, Pink Lemonade, as a business that they could make their mothers proud of. The bar was never supposed to be all about him, and it was rather delusional of him to assume that things should be that way.
A bit flustered, a blush colored his cheeks as he began an apology to Sunny, realizing that he was wrong after all. "...A breakfast bar doesn't sound like such a bad idea, now that I really think about it. That way, you and your brother will get to spend time together as well as help out around the bar. If it's going to be number one, it'll need a happy crew, right? I'm sorry I jumped onto you like that... I just didn't think there was a place for an idea like that, but just because I don't see it doesn't mean it doesn't still matter. It's like puzzles sometimes. Not all the pieces make sense, but when you look at the big picture, it'll turn out okay in the end." He managed a small smile, trying to make amends for his own mistake.

Was getting to do what she'd been looking forward to do too much to ask after all? For a moment, Sunny thought it might be. She was convinced that she'd somehow messed everything up, so that even an apology wouldn't fix it. What would she do? What would she tell Midnight Snack? What would happen to her dream?
... wait, what did he say?
At first, Sunny offered a hesitant smile. Which grew wider and wider as she listened, until she was practically jumping for joy. "I'll work really hard!" she promised, skipping around in circles. "Promise! And there won't be anybody happier than me, nope nope! Oh, you're really nice after all!" Once she'd given him a chance, at least, and stopped assuming things. "I really do want to work with you, not just 'cause of my brother and your sister! This is gonna be the best ever."

The unicorn smiled as well when Sunny delight seemed to take his words well, knowing right away that he'd been forgiven for being a real jerk to her... and that was completely incredible, in his opinion. If this filly was willing to deal with him and the attitude sometimes because she was that passionate about her goal, then who was he to tell her no? Just because he hadn't seen her side of the story right away didn't mean he should nix it completely, and Fruit Punch really did feel sorry about that. He knew that this was just another part of growing up, but he would make sure to take this to heart.
"It's okay, Sunny. I believe you, since you want it so bad." That by itself was enough to ensure him that the pegasus could and would be willing to do hard work, and so long as she was part of the team he could count on her. With a pleased flick of his tail, he nodded with agreement and acceptance to her promise and the expectation that their future together will be bright. "Of course it will be. We've got friends and family together in this, so we'll definitely have each other's backs."
