With the disaster that was the recruiting of the Rogue Gold having devolved into violence and a forcible expulsion of Wherholders from Trine territory, it became another thorn to goad the Wherholders. Masterhandler Keller remained ill but his plans remained on track – the exposure of the Wherhandlers to the ranking individuals of Trine had given them the ability to target high value individuals in the next mission. Assassination of Wingleaders or important members of Trine’s society would be the order of the day but the exact target had yet to be chosen.

Guided into a room with several folders on the large meeting table, the selected group was instructed to review the target files and select the individual they would assassinate by vote.

Folders
Target: Kindra
Description: 5’6” tall, dark skin, hazel eyes, long black hair. Curvy build.Summary: Junior Weyrwoman refugee from Benden currently living in Trine. Runt gold Suunath, speckled glimmering hide. Attitude is one of arrogance, superiority, and the typical pride associated with Dragonriders, especially those raised in Traditional Weyrs. Removal of this target would sever any ties of power between Benden Weyr and Benden Wherhold.

Target: Narisa
Description: 5’6” tall, fair skin, blue eyes, short auburn hair. Average build.Narisa – Junior Weyrwoman native of Trine. Gold Cepheith of average size, splotchy bright hide. Recently had a clutch that resulted in no metallics of breeding ability. Attitude is one of ambition and a naïve openness that leaves her vulnerable to deceit. Removal of this target would be another crippling blow to Trine and upset the balance of their succession – both Kindra and Narisa are participating in a contest for Weyrwomanhood.

Target: Z’fer
Description: 6’4” tall, dark and windburned skin, grey eyes, long braided black hair. Muscular build.Z’fer – Wingleader, Bronzerider refugee of Malvren currently living in Trine. Bronze Calanoth of large and muscular build with a splotchy hide. Sired Suunath’s first clutch. Attitude is one of competitiveness, seriousness, and addiction to thrill that leaves him vulnerable to taunting and being induced to rage. It is expected that emotional manipulation will reduce his ability to defend himself. Removal of this target will destabilize the entire wing, leaving Trine even weaker to Thread.

Target: N’mol
Description: 6’ tall, fair skin, grey-blue eyes, short brown hair. Muscular build.N’mol - Wingleader, Bronzerider refugee of Benden currently living in Trine. Bronze Tyeth of large, muscular build with a striped, high contrast hide. N’mol is noted to have been spotted with Kindra frequently and it is suspected they are developing emotional attachments. This could be exploited. Additionally, his attitude is one of pride and arrogance equal to if not greater then Kindra. His youth and lack of experience combined with his arrogance makes emotional manipulation a high probability. Removal of this target will destabilize the entire wing, leaving Trine even weaker to Thread and potential emotional destabilization of Kindra.

Target: S’kor
Description: 5’5” tall, grey eyes, olive skin, black hair. Muscular build.S’kor – Wingsecond, Bronzerider native of Trine. Bronze Scarath of very large size with dark limbs and blotchy stripes on hide. Attitude is one of white knighting, respect for authority, and snap decisions making situational manipulation a possibility. Dragon is a glutton. Removal of this target will destabilize the entire wing, leaving Trine even weaker to Thread.

Target: Kleos
Description: 5’10” tall, pale blonde hair, fair skin, green eyes. Lithe build. Notable scars on the left side of her face.Kleos - Wingleader, Crimsonrider refugee of Malvren currently living in Trine. Crimson Moriath is a dark red with pale belly and a mass of scars across the body. Has a strong sense of justice and duty and a considerable amount of pride. This can be manipulated. Removal of this subject would destabilize the wing she leads as well as the community she is a member of – a veteran of many events, her experience is valuable to others and removing that would rob Trine of a source of information.

Instructions
The characters are at Benden for this meeting. Each character that is signed up gets 1 vote. The target with the most votes becomes the Mission Objective... and the 'boss'. Further details will be provided to target and assassins after the vote takes place.

Note: This does not occur at the same time as Scrambled Eggs.

"I vote for the woman wingleader," Harmony said without hesitation as soon as she'd read the basic files. "They think their runt coloured dragons are worth something? Let them show it! Anyway, knowledge is power so if she is so much of a veteran then it makes sense to take her out." Kill, capture, she didn't really much care so long as it furthered her own position. It was partially for that reason also that she had chosen one of the wingleaders not the gold riders, the idea of potentially killing one of them was harder to swallow than the idea of taking down one of the more martially inclined targets.

"I can't believe I'm saying this but - Kleos, the crimson rider," Kr'stof leaned back in his seat, rubbing at his face with both hands. He mumbled against the flesh of his palms, fluffy hair limp along his cheeks. He'd just barely started to heal up from the wonder that had been the collapsed mine. "As much as I would love to take out the father of that blasted gold or the arrogant goldrider, she's a battle-proven Wingleader, fought against us like everyone else, and is their token 'look, we're equal' Wingleader. taking her out would do more than downing a shaffing bronze."

E'lov studied each folder in turn, pondering things. All of them would be good targets, though he did wonder about the problems that they might run into if they did have a queen as their target. They did tend to come with loyal followers who would be more than happy to die in her place. Hmm.

A bronze would be an acceptable target, his dragon commented.

Yes, they would. They were everything that the wherhandlers were fighting against, everything that he and Magith had left the dragon riders to have. He didn't think that the crimson would be all that useful of a target, though he could see the others points. He just wasn't sure that it would do what they were hoping it would do.

"I'm thinking one of the bronzes, myself," he commented, re-picking up one of the bronze folders. "This N'mol guy. It looks like he's in his position strictly because he rides a bronze, since he's so young. It also seems to have the chance to demoralize one of the queen riders as well."

Ralla hadn't originally been assigned to this task, but after the capture of several wherholders during the mission to the firestone mines, they could use any capable reinforcements for this that they could get...but really, the truth was that the Warden would take any excuse she was given to fight. Not that they were fighting yet - first they had to flip through files and vote for who they most wanted dead, which was considerably less exciting.

"I wouldn't say no to another shot at Z'fer, but N'mol would do, too," she said finally, tossing the last folder she'd read onto the table and leaning back in her chair. After considering it a moment longer, she decided, "I vote for N'mol. One less sharding bronzerider."

V’ell shook her head, her voice a low angry growl. “Crimson dragon or no, I’d get more satisfaction out of killing one of Trine’s sharding bronzeriders. Those wherrysuckers have been riding high on their own shiny asses too long, someone ought to remind them they’re as mortal as the rest of us.”

She was still sporting bruises and aches from her close call in the mines; V’ell was well enough to fight again, nothing broken or permanently damaged, but she wouldn’t be forgetting the encounter with the enemy anytime soon. “One way or another, it should be a wingleader – we’ve weakened their firestone supplies, if we can take out a wing then Thread casualties can do our work for us. But I vote for this one – Z’fer. He’s a thrill-seeker, easily manipulable. It wouldn’t be too difficult to draw him into an ambush.”

D'ei slouched, her eyes ghosting over the folders. She agreed with the first two as well as V'ell; each person had reasons to be murdered for politics sake. The crimsonrider had her particulars, she did, but the bronze rider...

"Kill the one that's proven he can throw a gold," D'ei shook her head, shoulders rolling in an attempt to loosen up the muscles a bit more. She hurt from their mine adventure and would rather blame the bronzerider wingleader than a woman. "And he's young. The young always ruin themselves. He just needs a push."

"Take out the Gold." The corners of Sasar's mouth tugged down with his distaste. "Destroying the mine has already crippled their wings. The old gold is worthless, past her prime. If we take them down to one breeder and let Thread destroy their unarmed wings they won't last. They'll break down."

"I'd be happy with any of them dead but my vote is for Benden's gold. The runt. She's small but she managed to clutch both gold and bronze where Trine's gold gave them nothing but chromatics. So much for their fertility." The large man sneered. It didn't help that he'd found out his brother had been Searched for Trine and Sasar did NOT want a dragonrider in his family. Even if it would serve Trine right for accepting a weak little s**t like Ailin into their ranks.

Alright. Sasar wasn't against a colorist society. In fact, anything that automatically put him on top was good in his book. Sasar was with the revolution because it did just that. As a wherhandler in a traditional weyr he would always be beneath the dragonriders. As a wherhandler under Keller the playing fields were leveled. As a bronzehandler, Sasar felt he had the best advantage out of the entire group here. Even Kesin. Golds were only good for breeding more of their species after all.

"N'mol," A'nos put in, perching lightly on the edge of the table that held the dossiers. "He's everything we stand against, promoted to Wingleader within months of graduation to wingrider from weyrling. As E'lov - it is E'lov? - states, he was given that rank merely for the colour of his hide and making a pretty speech that won over the brainwashed masses. I was there, I remember. Removing the love interest of that entitled little gold rider is a sweetner on the whole deal, wouldn't you agree?"

((As A'nos was not signed up for the mission, his vote isn't OOC counted))

The votes were counted. Wingleader Kleos had received a couple but the majority went to Wingleder N'mol, making him the target of the mission.

Plans were finalised quickly and a note was penned to be sent to Trine, purportedly from an outside source who had information on the whereabouts of the rogue gold they wished to share with wingleader N'mol.

The strike team moved out quickly and set down in the heavy jungle to the south of Trine. From there they moved northwest through less densely tree-covered terrain to near the edge of the jungle training area. The groups whers were beside them but dragons had remained behind to give the element of surprise. Should the young wingleader's dragon appear, however, they were poised to strike.

The bronze did not immediately appear, however. Nor even did his rider.

It was a tall blonde woman with a scarred face who stepped into the clearing. With Kindra badly wounded Kleos had offered (or insisted) to go in N'mol's stead so that he could remain nearby in case Kindra asked for him. Surely their source could speak to any wingleader on the matter, after all.

Instructions

Unfortunately RL has devoured Rhia, so the second highest voted target will have to sub in for N'mol. Have fun, Kleos.

- Each character must now roll 1d20 (Apply your Stealth: Sneaking bonuses or penalties) to see how well they have hidden. Kleos' roll is in this post, and it determines how perceptive she is.

For assassins:
1-6 : Obvious
7-15 : Hidden
16-20 : Invisible

For Kleos:
1-6: can sense 3 ppl
7-15: can sense 5 ppl
16-20: can sense 7 ppl
**Kleos can choose up to the indicated number of people (so long as they rolled lower than she did) and these spotted individuals suffer a -2 to dodge rolls when being attacked by her.

Travelling across the jungle hadn't been too bad, and they were quickly in place to wait for the rider. He waited as quietly as he could, finding stealth to be a lot easier when he didn't have to creep around, keeping himself alert.

And then she walked into the clearing. That was not the target they had decided on.

It was almost a shock to see the woman, but she would do. One wingleader's death would serve as well as the other, though he would have preferred it to have been another bronze. Oh well. One didn't always get what one wanted.

He remained still, hidden in the foliage, waiting for the perfect moment to strike.

All this stealth and sneaking around wasn't exactly Ralla's favorite thing to do, but if it meant getting a shot at one of Trine's ranking riders, she was willing to do whatever was necessary. And, despite not having undergone training specifically for this mission, did pretty sharding well at keeping herself hidden. Of course she did; she did sharding well at everything, if you asked her.

...but that was most certainly not a bronzerider. Shaffit, she'd wanted one of those! Not Kleos. Kleos would do, sure, but it was still disappointing. Staying behind as necessary, but kept apprise of the situation by her rider, Firith shared her annoyance. One of those arrogant bronzes would have been so much more satisfying.

Another time, perhaps.

V'ell - Invisible (Like a Ninja)

On a personal level, it felt somewhat hypocritical to be targeting the female wingleader for... what? Being a female wingleader? Precisely the same position that V'ell hoped to hold someday, if she could prove herself and Zarth capable of handling the prestige?

On the other hand, Kleos was Trine, which made it effortless to hate her on principle. But V'ell couldn't help but feel that she would have gotten much more joy out of the task if they'd been able to take it out on one of the bronzeriders. Still, as V'ell moved soundlessly from shadow to shadow, she could at least impress her fellow wherholders with her ability to work to a changing game plan.

[Harmony & Harmonsk - Hidden]

In the end she found herself disappointed by the sight of the woman she had initially voted to attack, she'd just finished talking herself around to the idea of preferring N'mol. Kleos would do however, either her head or her unconscious body dragged back to Keller for a public execution. It would be fun to beat her again too, Harmony hadn't forgotten about encountering her and being part of the group that defeated her and the gaggle of loyalists he'd been with during the revolution.

Shifting her weight Harmony licked her lips and rested a hand on Harmonsk's neck. Wait for it....
