Kaalnia had spent way too much time on the outskirts of the Chibale islands. She had taken off like a shot the moment she could.
But then she had found herself in the Tale and while that had been fun and interesting, she had decided that, flat or not, she was not traveling a desert to meet her sister. She had just that morning made it back to good ol' Jahuar and it's pleasantly dark treeline, and boy was she happy to have done so because Tale late in the day was like one of those stone ovens.
Hot.
Hot hot hot!

It occurred to her that she had no idea where her sister's tree was. Oh well! She'd keep going until she found someone, and then ask them where... what was it...
Oh yeah! Elder Kishky's tree. No... that wasn't right. Whatever! She'd find it, and it would be fun!
In the meantime, she was alone, which sucked, but she was often alone so that was fine! It meant she could sing travel songs without everybody telling her to stop! How about that!

"Walkin' Through the soft sand, Under the blooming tree, I found my love truest to me, And she smacked me in the knee!
oh he di die di di~
She was a pretty one, an' she knew how to hit, I fell over backwards, and I fell in love right then!
oh he di die di di~
I knew she was the one for me when she kicked me in the gut, I had only said that she had a mutt, Her radaku was none to pleased and so i didn't get into detail, I had to escape and I broke my pinkie nail!
oh he di die di di...."

The truth was she didn't know any travelling songs. She made them up on the spot.
And they were terrible.

Tahigwa had been high up in the trees that particular day and was in a rather sour mood. Her sister, Nesrine, had let her go out into the forest as always, but had forgotten to keep Saniyah's, another sister's, lip buttoned about it. Thus she was forced to run halfway through Jauhar to get away from her stupid "aunt". Arjeta the terrible.

As she laid her head upon a branch in an attempt to rest, her ears picked up on a fellow Alkidike walking down the path, and leaned outward to see who it was. Hm, she didn't look too familiar, perhaps it was safe to greet her... And stop her from singing that awful music!

"Hey! You! Stop singing!" She barked. "You sound terrible!"

Yaholo was passing by the same area while on his way to Andile and leered away from Kaalnia and Tahigwa. s**t, well, his sister just got into a possible conflict, no reason for him to step in... Right? He heaved a sigh, mulling over how possible it was for Kaalnia to have a weapon or not and wandered forward.

"Tahigwa, that was rude!" He said, scooping the now very happy Youngling into his arms for a snuggle. "You should be kinder to your sisters, you never know when you might need them!" He paused, cuddling Tahigwa close, before turning his eyes to Kaalnia. "I'm sorry about that, she can be a little troublesome."

Kaalnia stopped singing and laughed, looking for the source of the voice.
"Yeah, I'm crap at singing" she said, searching the trees, "I'm better at..." she trailed off when she saw it was a youngling. Oh.
"Nevermind" she said, clearing her throat with a bit more laughter. What she was going to say was both inappropriate for youngling ears...
And also not entirely true because she had never gone on a date in her life. They kept rejecting her for some reason.
Another voice.... oh holy s**t it was a male: This was Kaalnia's lucky day! Yaholo wasn't her first encounter of the male kind and though the were about as attractive to her as a lump of mud- which was about the right color for this one- they were pretty awesome just the same. And this one looked cool.
She did doubletake, though- she hadn't seen an actual halfbreed male before. It seemed she had a soft spot for halfbreeds. Huh.
She moved up to give him a friendly pat on the shoulder that was more like a thump than anything- he didn't need to be scared of her. They could be friends! Awesome friends!
"Ahaha!" she said, laughing, "Nah, she's right."
She drew back a bit, every bit the jovial alkidike.
"Can you do better, little sis?"

Tahigwa became all smiles as soon as Yaholo had scooped her up, despite not appreciating the scolding she was getting. She snuggled into her brother's chest and heaved a sigh of relief. Yaholo was always her headache relief! Dark eyes then darted towards Kaalnia and a tiny eyebrow arched upwards.

"Me? SING?" She asked, her voice more appalled than questioning. "You'd better be joking!"

Yaholo heaved a sigh of relief as the other Alkidike seemed to be unphased by Tahigwa's grumpy mood. He cuddled Tahigwa a little closer as the Youngling snuggled him, and smiled as Kaalnia approached them. However, as she did, he found himself feeling nervous. She was pretty, this girl... His eyes grew wide, if only for a second, did he just think that...? Whoa, whoa, whooooaaaa, duuuude, he'd never thought anything like that about anyone before!

"Hahaha!" He laughed, rubbing the back of his head. "I don't think she wants to sing, she's not in the best of spirits, aren't you Tahigwa?" He tickled his sister, which produced shrill, but adorable giggles from her mouth, and extended his hand out to Kaalnia. "My name is Yaholo, by the way. What's your name...?"

"Yeah, sing! 'cause I can't. You might as well try." she laughed, "Can't do any worse!"
She took his hand in an almost arm-wrenchingly enthusiastic hand-pump- which was a good indicator for her entire personality- too enthusiastic, too much!
"I'm Kaalnia! Heading down to Emeka to chat to my sis, who I haven't seen in ages." she (finally) released his hand, "and if she doesn't feel up to trying, why don't you? It's a pretty low bar, ya know."
Now wasn't that cute? Seemed like they were close. That was great. She'd always thought that cutting out the halfbreeds were silly. Wasn't like they didn't all share a mother (and it wasn't like halbreed women weren't damn sexy)
So she was glad that this halfbreed had a sister to play with.
"Wait, you gotta give up your name too!" she said, giving Tahigwa a poke.

Tahigwa grumbled and twisted herself away from Kaalnia, burying her face in Yaholo's chest. Goodness, Aisha, this one was loud! No wonder her other sister hadn't seen her in ages! Ugh, she hoped Yaholo would pick up on her obvious distress and get the hell away from there!

"Tahigwa." She huffed, wriggling further into her brother's arms.

Yaholo chuckled awkwardly as Tahigwa practically buried herself into his arms and reverted as Kaalnia talked. He wasn't sure why Tahigwa was in such a sour mood, but it was obvious that this other Alkidike wasn't helping. He clenched and unclenched his hand a few times after her more than enthusiastic handshake and tried to keep a calm stance. Her very presence made him uneasy! She was a pretty girl, no doubt about it, but she was certainly... Active.

"Aaahaa," He laughed, shifting backwards on his feet. "I shouldn't sing, that wouldn't be a very good idea." He didn't have much of a voice, he convinced himself. No, if he tried to sing, he'd upset Tahigwa. And NO ONE should EVER upset TAHIGWA, unless they wanted to DIE. Even HE knew that.

"But, you said you were heading to Emeka...?" He asked, hoping to distract her.

Kaalnia, being kaalnia, would have pushed a bit more.
'No really, c'mon, try it' she would have said, trying to sing again to encourage him.
But Kaalnia wasn't the most focused of Alkidikes.

"Yup! Heading to Emeka, thats right!" She laughed, "Haven't been taking a straight route- went into the Tale just to see what it was like. Only stayed at the border, though!"
She grinned, "It's a big place, yanno?" with really nice plants and ferns.
"My sis, I heard she made Blade. And then got herself a kid! I couldn't just sit back and not visit, right?"
A sudden thought struck her like a lightning bolt.
"Ah, Crap! I don't have a present for her." Oh man oh man, that was sooo dumb of her... What was she going to do? She couldn't congratulate someone empty handed? Could she?

Tahigwa turned her head ever so slightly towards Kaalnia as she spoke about her travels. This loud mouth went to Tale? Sheesh! She hoped that she didn't get too close to where her brother lived! She listened to her carefully then, and tilted her head, her sister had a kid...? Now she was interested.

"My best friend just got adopted by a lady named Briella." She said. "Is that your sister...?"
PostPosted: Thu Jun 27, 2013 1:59 pm

"You went to Tale? I live in Tale!" Yaholo exclaimed. Wow, another Alkidike had gone all the way out to where he lived? He didn't know that anyone else around here traveled that far out! He knew quite a few mixed raced people and tribesmen who had, but he'd never seen another Alkidike travel out as far as he had! Maybe he could show her around one day! He smiled at the thought, another Alkidike to travel with, Niabi hadn't been interested in that quite yet. She was a little too shy for that.

"A present for your sister...?" He questioned, tapping his chin. "Hm... Why not make something for her? You know..." He pointed to some stray bark on the ground. "Like a wooden bracelet or something...?"

"Ooo, making her something. Thats a good idea, I..."
And then it hit her what else he had said.
Kaalnia's life had a tendency to throw surprises at her, and this was one of those times when she was just a bit overwhelmed. In a good way.
"Wait, you live in the Tale?! No way! That's so neat!" she said, giving Yaholo a little push, "It looks like an awesome place to explore! Hey, hang on, are there bugs there? What do you all eat? What about water? There was sand EVERYWHERE and that has GOT to not be drinkable, right?"

And then the other surprise hit. Her jaw dropped and she looked at Tahigwa.
"YOU KNOW MY SISTER?!" She said, absolutely floored. What a day, right? Two awesome pieces of information in a single minute!
"Wait, and her new kid is your best friend?!"
She stared meaningfully at Tahigwa. "Whoaaaaa..." she was quiet for a moment... "Do you believe in coincidences?" she drew closer, conspirationally.

Tahigwa tried her best to hold back a groan as Kaalnia began to squeal on and on about how she knew her sister. Geez, did she ever shut her mouth? All Tahigwa wanted was to spent the day with her brother in peace and quiet, but nooooo, this girl had to come along and chat the day away! What a jerk! She heaved a sigh and grunted.

"No, but I do believe in vanishing acts..." She mumbled.

Yaholo made a face and bopped Tahigwa on the nose. Sure, the girl may be a little... Eccentric... But that was no reason to be rude! He sighed, fuzzed his sister's dreads, and turned his attention back to Kaalnia.

"Ahahaha, yes! What a coincidence!" He agreed, forcing a smile to his face. "But, yes, Tale is pretty neat, I suppose. We eat roots and small animals but we survive just fine, given the terrain." He scratched his cheek, pondering a little further. "And the grass keeps water inside of it, which we eat. It's not so bad."
