It wasn't often that Nevada thought or planned something out. Today though, she wanted to have fun. To get off the Island like she had with Otto and use her off island dates before she died.
And oddly enough, she wanted to get to know Tuck better. What better way then an actual date? At first she had been nervous because, just broken up with Roland, did she deserve this? Did she deserve to be happy when she hurt someone else? And the answer was:
/GET THE HELL OF THE ISLAND PIDGE, YOU'RE KILLING ME WITH ALL THIS ANGST. JACK./
And to go on dates, you had to go on the surprise. So with a light sundress, sandled heels to match, her hair tied up in a loose ponytail that tickled the middle of her back and a over the shoulder purse, she was outside of Tucks door.
Knocking.
God she really hoped he was in. Then this wouldn't be so silly and funny and a little embarrassing.

A few moments after Nevada knocked, the door swung open. Tuck leaned against the doorframe clad in a soft-looking pair of jeans, sneakers, and a black Idaho State University sweatshirt on. The instant he saw Nevada, a huge smile spread over his face.
"It ain't my birthday, darlin', so what're you doin' here all dressed up? You look good enough to eat."
Okay, it wasn't really... friend-like thing to say, but he couldn't help himself. She really did look good enough to eat.

Ah see, he was there and now she didn't have to feel embarrassed.
"Hi Tuck." She smiled at him, tilting her head up to make up for the lack of height she had even without her heels. "Um...I didn't come to be a birthday gift, but if you tell me Handsome, I could be later." She winked and then held out something she was fidgeting with. It was a picture of beach of Hawaii.
"I was thinking if you weren't busy if you'd like to go to the beach for the day?" She hesitated again. "I miss some sun, some water and stuff so..."
And mostly boardwalk, and shopping and getting hawaiian flowers for her room too maybe but you know...
"And then I'd get to see you shirtless and admire you among all the other shirtless men." She smiled again, teasing him.

Despite that brash and bold outward appearance, Tuck was actually terrified of ******** up the relationship he had with Nevada. He'd told her that he'd be whatever she needed, whenever she needed it. At the same time, he was afraid to simply assume which role she needed him to fill. It felt like Russian roulette. He wanted to kiss her, badly. Feel her hair, smell her skin. Simple things. Is that what she wanted? Was he over-thinking things? With a slow, lazy grin, Tuck nodded as he pushed off the doorframe. "You askin' me out on a date, Nevada? I can't say no to you, or to the thought of Hawaii. Never been. Lemme put on some shorts. You comin' in?"

Nevada's thought process was much of the same. She seemed relaxed, cool and thoughtful but..There would always be the question if she could act, would he allow it? Would he think of her as just a friend because when she had been with him, she had been taken? Didn't he say he blamed himself and didn't she she say how she wanted to be friends. Everything was on her terms and she had to weigh heavily on how Tuck felt. If she went in for a kiss now, would it ruin the friendship opportunities for later?
"A date?" She waited and then smiled at him again, "Of course I am Handsome. I don't often get dolled up just for friends." She waited to see his reaction, before stepping in. "Hawaii often is a place of temptation, but it's the sun that gets me. I've always wanted to go and...On this island...it's the only perk. Travel where you want to Handsome. Two days a month." She looked over at him and then added...
"You should wear a button up shirt...so you can unbutton it when we get there." LOTS OF SMILING AND FLIRTATION.

She was driving him crazy. He had no idea what she wanted, friends? Maybe friends with benefits. The way she talked made it sound like she considered him more than a friend, but he couldn't be sure, and he didn't want to ask because what if he was wrong and ******** everything up in the end?
He wasn't sure he could handle that, especially after all the damage that had been done to her relationship with Roland. Especially after he'd last seen her, small and bruised and full of so much pain that it broke his heart just to look into those violet eyes of hers.
These were troubling thoughts.
He distracted himself with packing. The sweatshirt came off and Tuck opened his closet. A button-down wouldn't look real great with shorts - especially since all he owned was the longer-cut basketball shorts - and so he decided to keep the jeans on. He'd take some shorts with him.
Withdrawing his duffel bag from the closet, Tuck jammed a bunch of clothes in the bag before zipping it up. Idly scratching his chest he shot Nevada a thoughtful look. Unbutton it when they got there? Okay, that didn't sound real friendly-like. It sounded more sexy-like. ********, he really was over-thinking this.
He slid his arms into a pale blue button-up shirt.
Should he flirt back? It sounded like she was flirting.
His brow furrowed as he quickly did the ********. Nevada had him on edge. It made him nervous, electrified. He wasn't sure if he liked it or not.
"We goin' for two days? I packed like five pairs of boxers."

She watched as he stuffed the bag and then had to stifle a giggle. Unfortunately, they could only go overnight since she harassed Otto into a Gelato hangout.
There was a lot of tension and a lot of feelings going on so Nevada went on the whole gut feeling and laced her hands together.
"Wait Wait Wait Handsome." She came over and undid at least three of the buttons from the top of his shirt, opening it a bit. "See there, you have a nice collarbone...Chest...stuff." She started to flush as she looked up, "Overnight trip if your up to it? I don't mind sharing a bed and...um..."
Okay no seriously, she wasn't some doe eyed fawn. But she was having the hardest time debating on just what she deserved, and what Tuck did. She wouldn't tease him, they were past that.
"And if you want to be my lover tonight, after our date. I wouldn't say no. I can if you want...Encourage it." She lifted her head again and smiled. "It's selfish of me, after the break up with Roland to ask you for that. And i'm not using you...for anything like that." She dropped her hands now. "But today I am yours. So you can demand, ask, take as you like. It's a date after all."
Secretly he didn't know that he was going to carry all the shopping bags and stuff right? right.

The instant that she stopped talking, Tuck was cupping her cheek and dipping down for a kiss. It wasn't a deep kiss or a demanding kiss, but a hungry kiss that spoke of the emotions that roiled within him. It was as if some sort of beast had been set free.
After a few moments he pulled away and offered Nevada a sheepish little grin.
"Been wantin' to do that since I seen you standin' at my door," he whispered softly, eyes heavy-lidded, "an' if we don't get outta here now, we're never gonna make it to Hawaii." Tuck's voice was rough and throaty, but that grin grew into a dimpled smile.
"I want all of you," he said simply as he pulled back enough to take her hand, idly lacing their fingers together. "An' you can use me any which way you want."
Tuck grabbed his duffel.
"Overnight sounds good." He paused and dipped down for another kiss, this one a little rough.
"Real good."

Nevada blinked as she suddenly felt the lips. Rough but not demanding. And it spoke of the conflict they both shared. By volumes.
"Oh well....You could've insisted that at the beginning you know." She breathed out, "I might've made you sweat for it a little." She winked, feeling playful now that it was out of the way. All the tension and stuff.
"Yes Hawaii Handsome, Think long beaches, sun, girls in bikini's. Boardwalk. Flowers." She might've gotten a lot of dreamy eyed. "All of me." She warmed and then took his hand in hers, accepting the kiss again.
So many kisses.
"I'm going to have to remember that dimples are my weakness with you." She looked over and pulled him out of the room. "I didn't find us a hotel but it's Hawaii, place has to be full of them." She looked at his duffel and the five pairs of boxers in it. such a funny kid.
As they walked, she kept little gazes at him until they were at the portal and coordinates put in. "Big island it is Handsome." And then they were stepping in....and out into sunshine, warmth and people.
"Almost like civilians again..." Almost.
Almost Normal.

He could've insisted? Tuck grinned down at Nevada. "Ain't my place to insist." He didn't elaborate, didn't joke about the situation. He merely smiled down at the Mist, dimples flashing and happiness bright in his eyes. There was a huge relief that the terms had been laid out, so-to-speak, and Tuck knew that he'd be able to really enjoy the trip they were about to take. All of her sounded like the most enjoyable part of the trip, though girls in bikinis was a close second. As they stepped through the portal and into the real world, Tuck drew in a deep breath of that sweet island air. It was so refreshing that his chest ached, and Tuck glanced down at Nevada before dipping to press a little kiss to her temple. "Today we are civilians," Tuck chuckled, "an' I think I need a awful hat and some sunglasses." He paused. "Just to fit in, of course."

She blinked and bit her lip. So she was calling all the shots here. That terrified her and made her wish that she hadn't started the stupid clause in the first place. But she admired Tuck instead for his control and respect of her.
She flushed at the kiss, squeezing his hand and laughing. Island air, summer heat, She felt amazing. Her head turned up, soaking in the rays.
"Awful hat, sunglasses and a Lei." As if lei was the magic summoning word, a island Native came over to them, big samoan man with lei's abound and graced their person's with one. "E komo mai o Hawaii Brother and Sister." Before trotting off to do the same to others.
Nevada couldn't help the next comment though, "Looks like we've just been laid by a bigger hawaiian native." She chuckled and started tugging him towards boardwalk, to the shops. So they could find awful hats and sunglasses.
It was almost different to realize how normal things were on the Island, away from the horseman. Tourism was huge, she could tell by the many people like her gawking, and slowly walking around boardwalk. Girl's in bikini's was a understatement as large groups of them passed by, some with surfboards....some with small shorts and rollerblades. It was no different for guys with boards, boardshorts and the flop of sandals. Some whizzed by on skateboards, doing small tricks to impress the girls.
Yeah, normal life.
"So what go you into College? What were your plans before army and hunter life?"

Tuck shamelessly eyed a couple of bronze-skinned ladies as they walked past him, obviously enjoying the sights and the sounds of the island. More than that, though, was the freedom he enjoyed, the freedom of being able to pretend that life as he knew it was normal. There were some fine women around, but his attention returned time and time again to the Mist by his side His grin grew even larger at the sight of Nevada's flush. Tuck almost wanted to tease her about it, but the thought of that bruise kept flashing in his mind's eye. No, he wouldn't tease her. Seeing her enjoyment at the surroundings, the way she turned her face up to the sun... he didn't want to ruin that. Tuck laughed at her silly joke, trailing after the petite woman. "Football. It's always been football. I grew up lovin' it, went to school lovin' it. I coulda gone outta state to play, and probably would have if I didn't have Gnat and my parents to think about." He shrugged his broad shoulders, still grinning as they drew up on a small cart that sold really huge straw hats.

"Football, The american sport. Though originally Baseball, and many would argue it still is, Football is where the money and hearts at now. Supreme teamwork with a good line of leadership from the quarterback, What's not to love?" She had quit sports when she was in high school, Basketball and soccer being her two favorites. But she was fairly adept in most of them. Of the twins, Alaska had been more schoolwork, more knowledgable. Which is why she was the favored of the two.
Unlike Alaska, She couldn't haved imagined sports she played ever leading to anything of a college scholarship. She had been fast on the court, and smart on the field....but when it came down to it...she helped more than scored.
"I'm a 49ers fan myself Handsome. Something about red and gold and Kaepernick coming out of 2nd string to almost win us a superbowl...." She followed him over to the cart, looking at the large hats. Her fingers went out to brush against the straw, flipping some up to see what size would fit Tuck's. "So you took something close by. Gosh it must've been a rush. We're you a linebacker? Something tells me you'd be the one of the walls they'd put down, they must've known that or they wouldn't've put you in moon.." She looked up at him, "What made you leave it for the army? Something you loved dearly, and around people you loved....why leave?"
Her hand fumbled though, from the hat and she frowned, thinking of what she asked him. Perhaps too personally asked him. "Um...if that's not too personal. I'd...I just like to know about you."

Aww, hell, she was trying to make him swoon, wasn't she? Tuck made a derisive sound at talk of the 49ers.
"Packers, all the way." He didn't want to get into the reasons why he loved Green Bay so much, but his dad had too and maybe some of that love for the green and gold had been passed down from father to son, like so many American pastimes.
"Tackle, usually. Offensive more often than not. They called me twerp," he grinned at Nevada as if to say can you believe that?
The grin dampened a little when she asked about his reasons for leaving. He turned his attention back to the rack of sunglasses, trying on a bright pink bedazzled pair before answering.
"I started seein' s**t. Shadows, whatever." Tuck cleared his throat. "Me bein' a coward, I guess."

Oh cheeseheads. Oh cheeseheads indeed. She decided the safest course of action was of course to tease him. because why not. "I heard the 49ers dominated the packers defense....for the playoffs." She slid violet eyes at him and then back down to the hat, smiling.
Yes it had been a good game, a better win.
"Twerp? Like some small little kid or something." She could see how that name fit, with his charms and almost kid like playful nature..."Not the nickname I would go with actually."
She felt bad the minute his grin turned down the wattage and then gnawed at her lip nervously. "It's not cowardly." She shrugged, laughing at the glasses. "Pink isn't your style Handsome." Instead, she found the biggest frilliest hat...complete with large flowers, peacock feathers and questionable jewels on the brim, shoving it down on her head. "Alaska left home when the shadows got more sustainable. More dense in form. Instead of just shadows we saw as a kid, we could make out shapes of boogeymen and monsters. Ghost and such. She said she was tired of it haunting her. Was going to look for it to stop. I was to scared to go with her...Not that I had much of a choice really. She left without telling anyone but I could've found her sooner, if I had left the same night. That to me seems more cowardly." She fiddled with a pair of glasses too, completing the large hat look with a pair of orange cat lady glasses. She looked up at him now. "Think I'd give the crazy cat lady next door a good look?"
