Mine, I was clean some time ago. Are you going to insist on scrubbing my hide until I am raw? Lunath's tone was full of impatience. You have scrubbed, and scrubbed. I will get dirty again tomorrow, and then you will have to do the same. The green simply could not see the point of working so hard on something that they would have to do again later. There were so many things to see! So many things to learn about! So many friends to meet! Lunath hadn't changed much since their turns as weyrlings. She was still as clueless as ever, T'rel thought, as he positioned himself on Lunath's back to reach her neck ridges.

"Stop complaining," he said, grinning. "You know you love it." This time was a time for reflection for the man. He had little time to think with all the noise in the Weyr--and granted, Lunath tended to cause the majority of the noise in his weyr--but she was his constant companion. However much she complained, her presence helped him think.

There are many other things we could be doing, Lunath commented. We could go for a swim instead.

"We can swim later this evening."

It had been a long flight, but the distance flow and the sharp dives and tight rolls they had executed hadn't cleared their heads. The lightning-fast blue approached the lake from the north, only thanks to his exertions he was not so much lightning fast as ponderous. Paying little attention to the nearby green Malcarreth angled his wings down; it looked like a nice bit of shore to land on so she would just have to share. He touched down with only the lightest of thumps; the heavy breaths that surged in and out of his deep chest were louder.

C'tis unfastened himself from the riding harness and slid to the ground, tossing his gloves onto the ground and opening the neck of his riding jacket before moving to free his dragon from the harness too; the blue would want a swim no doubt.

Lunath did not at all mind sharing the beach--indeed, the green took off towards Malcarreth in her excitement. The green seemed to have forgotten her rider's promise to swim later that evening. And that he had been carefully scrubbing her--A friend! A new friend! Perhaps he would want to swim with her? Maybe they could play a game! I am sorry, mine, she said, as she at last turned to glance at her rider. Making new friends is more important than bathing, and swimming will work just as well as scrubbing.

She turned her attention to the blue. Swim with me? she asked. Oh, she hoped he said yes! This would be fun! Much more fun than scrubbing, or staying still! We can race!

T'rel made his way over to C'tis, flashing him an apologetic smile. "I don't know if you had anything planned," he said, "Lunath seems to have found a playmate in your blue." He could distract her, if the boy preferred--distracting Lunath was easy.

Malcarreth gave the green a Look. It was a very old look from a rather young dragon, and he coupled it with a snort.

C'tis heaved the harnesses off Malcarreth's back and set them down with his gloves before undoing the rest of the fastenings on his jacket. The green dragon got a long hard look, and when his rider appeared it was transferred onto him. The green rider looked younger than him by probably slightly less than a handful of turns; sixteen, seventeen? Something like that, probably. C'tis took off his jacket and tossed it onto the pile.

"Planned on a swim," he replied with a shrug. "Name's C'tis, he's Malcarreth. Who the shaff are you?" The brown-eyed young man wasn't in his wing, and while he was pretty sure he'd seen the green - Lunath - around before he'd never spoken to the pair before.

Lunath was not at all bothered by Malcarreth's behavior. He wanted her to introduce herself! Surely that indicated that he wanted to be friends as well? Out of fashion? she echoed, baffled by the question; she would have heard if it had! No. It hasn't I am Lunath. It is nice to meet you! Now you tell me who you are, and then we can swim. We can race!

What a greeting! "T'rel," T'rel supplied, flashing C'tis a smile. "Its a good day for a swim," he mused. Lunath did seem rather intent on it. He had been hoping she'd get distracted and allow him to finish her scrub. "I'll join you."

Malcarreth stretched luxuriantly and tucked his long thin wings in by his sides before turning his attention back to the green. he said, will do either with you. Then again, I might. Are you always so excitable?>

C'tis raised his eyebrows and shrugged. "Well it's a free Weyr, in that respect at least. Do what you want." With this said he pulled off his shirt and added it to the heap before unbuckling his boots to step out of those as well. Maybe the swim would help with the whirl of thoughts, the gnawing worry. Maybe but not probably, not even likely.

Flight trousers and britches joined the heap, leaving C'tis in his underwear. "You're both very perky. Anyone ever told you that?" he asked as he headed down to the water.
