General Painite waited while the forces of Chaos gathered after their crazy night in the Carnival. The whole thing had been insane and fast paced, incredibly wild and thoroughly dangerous, and yet here they were. They had succeeded, glowing orbs of energy piled together on one end of a table, a pile of starseeds forming on another. This table was situated in the center of the room, so no one failed to see the measure of their success.

These were memories she hoped would stay with them. This was a night that was meant to last far longer than the hours they had been hunting through.

"Everyone!"

Painite held up her hands, standing on a chair for height. She had gathered them in one of the larger rooms available to them, but she knew she could not revel too long: some were injured, and needed to tend to themselves. Others, she imagined, would just want to get to the party and to relax.

Food, drink, and an array of unmarked gifts were assembled on another table to the side. But that was for later.

She cleared her voice, projecting it over the murmur of people, hoping everyone had gathered as she had wanted, though it was difficult to do a head count at the moment. She would make sure, though, that every soldier she had seen and issued orders to that night was accounted for, and she knew their condition: she could not let their suffering or their accomplishments go unacknowledged. She was not the best speaker, not as far as speeches that someone else didn't write and she didn't memorize went, but she would do her best to convey her feelings.

"Tonight was a great accomplishment for all of us that call ourselves agents of Chaos. Soldiers of the Negaverse! You all should be so very proud of yourselves, for your strength and dedication, and your ability! Though there was difficulties, injuries, and perhaps some mistakes, you have all risen above the limits of your ranks, or your own ideas of your potential. You have stretched your power, and touched true Chaos. Tonight, you were incredible! I could not have asked for a stronger unit, for a better team of soldiers. Lieutenants, Captains, Generals: even those that don't follow our ranks... I am proud to call you all my allies, my family."

She looked proud, her chest puffed up, her eyes glistening with all the emotions she was battling. They colored her voice, even making her fading English accent seem a little more pronounced as she focused on not letting her voice crack more than anything else. She even felt her eyes stinging, though she was not about to let any tears fall, even in happiness and pride.

"Those of you that were injured, tend to your wounds. Have any energy or starseeds that you need. And then, with everyone else, enjoy the rest of our night. Tonight is a night to unwind, to share your stories, your successes and your failures, and know that no matter what happened, you triumphed! Forget the Negaverse, your leaders, and everything else. Be proud for you, for what you accomplished and for who you are. Never forget what you're capable of, and use today as a reminder for that. Nothing Order can do will ever defeat us, not when we work together, not when we strengthen ourselves!"

She motioned to the tables.

"Eat and drink, relax. There are tons of presents, everything I could find or afford, for any taste I could think of. Take what you want, you deserve everything and more. I know it's paltry in comparison, but the Carnival itself was a celebration in its own right. A celebration of our power. I am very proud of all of you, and humbled by your strength and your commitment. Thank you, every last one of you, for all your hard work."

She grinned at that at last, letting out a triumphant laugh and jumping a bit on the chair. She threw her hands up over her head and summoned her spear to her hands, holding it up and laughing almost joyously.

"Tonight, we are victorious!"

(This isn't really a RP so much as a little post to thank everyone for playing. You can use it as a solo prompt, or a RP prompt, if you would like to and if you want to RP with Painite or plot what happened between her and your character please let me know! She will try to talk to everyone, check in with everyone, and at least learn what they did that night if they want to tell her. Feel free to poke me <333

Oh and the presents can be open to interpretation, though generally I imagine they are small, carnival themed trinkets and items, to remind them of their victory and all that good stuff.

And thank you again for playing with me! )

A wild quote appears!

Serpentine listened to the impassioned speech from his chair and, as was often the case, he kept his silence. The first thing he had done after being given a ride to the Rift for this celebration was to take a seat. His sprained ankle had moved beyond merely being painful. It swelled within his spatted boot, which he was currently elevating (as discretely as possible) beneath the table using his other foot.

The second thing he had done was to grab a six pack of the most acceptable beer at the table and popped one open to drink. He was currently nursing his second and not bothering to hide the scowl on his face. The lieutenant was not opposed to celebrating--far from it. The group of officers had done well and deserved to be commended. That a General was taking the time to praise their efforts was in itself wonderful.

But.

It was a very significant 'but.' But he had wounded himself and would have to work less as a result, which he could not afford. But he had had to limp his way out of the final confrontation, when the rest of the officers had banded together. But he had not claimed a single starseed, which glimmered at their end of the table as though to taunt him.

He cracked open his third beer.

Quicksilver the Archangel

Painite spotted the sour looking Negaverse soldier after she climbed down from her chair, feeling much shorter now but it was a height she was much more used to. She did not like looming over everyone: being small made it much easier to sneak up on people. And it made her opponents under estimate her, which always made pulling their starseeds out more fun.

She was not thinking too much about her 'work' right now, though, outside of the accomplishment they had made in that regard. It was a time for healing and celebration. She moved toward Serpentine, putting her hand on his shoulder as she caught him opening what had to be a second or third beer, though she hadn't been counting.

"What is the matter?" She asked, bluntly enough, knowing immediately that he either did not agree with her sentiments or, more likely judging from the disappointment in his eyes, he did not think he had done well enough. She was good enough at reading people now to know that much.

"If you're going to be drinking tonight, you should at least do it with a smile on your face. Or do you plan on drinking until you're happy again?" She took one of the beers for herself, watching him leisurely.

"General Painite," he greeted with a nod of his head. He rarely attached a rank along with a name, but she deserved the proper respect tonight. She had led them well, as evidenced by the spoils that gleamed across the table. He made no objection to her taking the beer--why would he? She had, afterall, procured it.

"Smile? Not with this slop." He took another swig of his beer with a haughty sniff. He should have checked harder to see if there had been any Guinness but he had needed to sit to rest. This brand was too light for his taste... but any beer was better than none.

He considered her initial question and shrugged. "The mission went well. All of them deserve your praise. Next time... I will do better." Even saying the words aloud made him frown, however. Was that not what he always told himself? That next time he would improve, do better, get the praise he so yearned for? And every time... did he not fail?

"I feel ready to advance... but seem unable to demonstrate my worth." These words came more slowly, not in a whining fashion but in one frustrated from a lack of expected growth.

Painite arched her eyebrow at him, tilting her head expectantly.

"Oh yeah? This is my favorite," she said with a purr, playful but coy, watching him with an interested look but something close to a cat looking at a bird. At his words her eyes sparked and she understood why he was upset. He must not have been able to do as well as he wanted to.

"Lieutenant," she said coolly, finally deigning to open her beer and drink from it leisurely. "You came to this mission, did you not? That's more than can be said for some of your colleagues. You took a risk, just participating, and from how upset you are now I know you put in your best effort. But it wasn't good enough for you. That's an admirable quality to have, that drive to keep reaching for more, to push and better yourself. If it were up to me, I'd see in you the promise of a strong Captain, an invaluable General, and I'd move you right along."

She smiled, though she held herself proudly.

"I'm proud that you came, that you fought for the negaverse and that you seek strength. Do you know how many times I failed, to get to where I am now? And how often I continue to fail? Stay determined and use it as motivation."

Sorry to requote you here - was re-reading in preparation of making a post and realized I had somehow lost half of my post! Wow, I am so sorry. xD; Will be getting you a new reply soon!

Golden eyes maintained a steady gaze on the shorter woman as she spoke. There was much wisdom to be found in her words, and he soaked up the praise inherent in Painite's speech. Yes, he had come and fought to the best of his ability, even after his injury. Yes, he had answered her summons--how could he do anything less? Her pride fueld his own, and although the movements were subtle, he relaxed. His tense muscles relaxed, his posture slacked. His hands gripped the beer just a little looser.

Then, with a small smile of his own, he added, "A pity your taste in beer is not as refined as your speech or strategies." Yet, he still took a large drink, almost a toast to them both. "Your faith is well-placed. I will not fail."

Painite grinned at him.

"You're just being picky, this beer is fine," she winked, drinking heartily from hers. She hadn't planned on drinking much tonight but now that she had started she might just continue and see where that led her. When was the last time she had gotten drunk, anyway? It had been ages, it felt like, and the last time had not been that fun.

But she was over that, and was not going to let anything get her down to that level again. She had decided that she was not going to let herself be down in the dumps, defeated by things around her. Things she couldn't control. Instead, she opted to seize the day, every chance she was given, and just spend her time doing what she loved.

It happened that what she loved was causing pain and terror, but still.

"But I know you'll do well, I always see that spark in you, and you haven't yet disappointed." She smiled and nodded, relaxing. "Have fun tonight, hmm? Just relax, and share in the success of the Negaverse." She was sure as hell going to.

The trip back to the Negaverse was a little bumpier than he would have liked, but never had Buddingtonite been happier to find himself tumbling down the crystal corridors with the clawing hands and appendages on the other side. In fact, he hardly noticed them. Maybe they weren't there? Maybe all of them were used during the Carnival? In truth, Buddingtonite didn't care. He was relieved to be in safe grounds once more, and yet, he didn't feel safe.

He had looked around for Captain Mica, but she was no where to be seen. And while that should have relieved him, it only caused his anxieties to grow. If she wasn't at the party and celebrating with her officers, maybe she was at Howlite's office making the report right now? The thought of it made him sick to his stomach, and though his palette often desired much stronger and more classier liquor, he was quick to dive into the beer that was provided.

"Well, my career in the Negaverse may be over..." Buddingtonite said, taking a spot near the drinks and managing to grab his drink but having problems getting it open thanks to his wounded arm. How panicked was he to get back to the Rift that he almost forgot the injury he received? That seemed so little a concern when Mica was likely reporting his blunder, but still, it was starting to hurt again, and he was quick in trying to open the beer can and down the drink. Even if it was to be his last, he'd try to enjoy this crass horse piss. However, he did not wish to enjoy it alone, and he looked for a familiar face, perhaps someone that could save him from his impending demise? "Here's to oblivion!"

Sorry again, ugh! I am clearly going to have to work on my copying and pasting skills as I keep leaving invomplete posts.

"Refined taste," Serpentine repeated, draining his beer. He was beginning to enjoy himself, despite the pain. Painite's confidence infused him with energy and soothed his wounded vanity.

The florist plucked up a rainbow bear not too far away on the table and dangled it before his General with a tease. "Am I to share these trinkets as well?" He would, naturally, distribute the various carnival themed goodies to the officers who rightly deserved them at her command. Provided he got one for himself, of course.

Ordinarily, Amethyst would be wary with regards to what another Negaverse officer might think or say about his meagre contribution to the pile of energy orbs that were already on the table by the time he reached the Rift for the debrief. After all, the varying sizes of the spheres he had gathered were plain for all to see. That didn't seem to matter anymore at this point however, now that he had another reason to be here as he paused to scan the entire room for Buddingtonite's location before making his way over directly to take the empty seat next to the Captain.

He left the redhead to his own thoughts initially, thinking it best that he had some time to himself after going through the entire evening of events. Which he eventually realized probably wasn't the best thing to do with the dark mood Buddingtonite was in judging by his abnormal demeanour and the way he had proposed a toast to oblivion just a few seconds ago.

"You alright?" He cleared his throat as he peered at the Captain in question, worry and concern over the gravity of the situation that might have brought this on lightly lacing his facial features. The guy was obviously bothered, maybe even depressed by something. "I saw what happened with that girl... someone you know?" A brief pause and then a simple word that was added almost as if it was an afterthought. "Girlfriend..?"

Even when he felt as though he was preparing for his march in front of the firing squad, Buddingtonite wasn't opposed to having company, even if it was to be his last. Or not. Maybe he was worrying for nothing? Or, perhaps he had every reason to worry? Either way, he was going to enjoy this beer AND the company around him, Mica and her personal vendetta against him be damned!

"Amethyst, my good friend! Come, join me before I'm carted away!" Buddingtonite did little to hide his mirth and when the lieutenant was within arm's reach, he grabbed for him. He wanted to pull him close, not just to give him an affectionate hug, but to let him hear him when he whispered harshly. "Ex-nay on the irlfriend-gay... sh, sh, sh! We discuss this later, okay?"

He recalled that Amethyst had some medical training, so he wasn't against showing the young lieutenant his arm and just how deep the cuts were as he pulled back his sleeve. "Just a few cuts... one of those Senshi got me good. I almost had his starseed, too..."

His crimson eyes caught sight of a rainbow bear dangling not too far away, and he looked that way to see his friend Serpentine talking with Painite. Without thinking, he raised his beer and shouted across the room, hardly a good move for someone that was just whispering moments ago. "Oh! Oh, do I get a fuzzy rainbow bear or are those only for the rainbow-haired gents in the room?"

Amethyst had his reasons for choosing to forgo the alcohol although it would take a few glasses before his mental faculties started to be affected by it. It was definitely tempting to kick back and go easy on himself after such an intense evening at the carnival but looking at Buddingtonite now, he decided that that could wait since he definitely wanted to keep his wits about him for what he needed to do for the Captain later on.

"Carted away? Now why will anyone do that unless it's for the purpose of making sure that you're fine by confirming for themselves that most of the blood on your uniform isn't yours?" There was a quizzical look on his face from a lack of understanding of the situation that the redhead probably would have to be held accountable for, the Lieutenant making no mention of the civilian in question as he nodded a few times then helped to bring Buddingtonite's arm closer for a cursory examination.

He prodded gently at each of the cuts in turn, trying to gauge for himself if they were as bad as they looked. A trip down to the hospital was unavoidable for sure. "Most of them will likely need nothing more than proper wound care. This particularly deep one however will need a couple of stitches. Might want to go easy on the booze or I'll have to refrain from giving you the really good painkillers. When was the last time you had a tetanus shot?" The moment they got themselves there, he could easily handle things from there.

General Painite smiled at Serpentine, then glanced over in Buddingtonite's direction when he shouted at her. She waved her hand dismissively.

"You can take whatever you like, either of you. Any of you. Keepsakes, maybe, because the starseeds and energy you gathered are going to be a better cause than memory preservation."

She grinned, only half believing that. These days, her focus, though she rallied and cried for the Negaverse, was less on the needs of the Chaos organization and more on the people within it. She did things and let Chaos justify her, maybe. But those were thoughts for another time. Tonight, she was going to relax, have fun, and probably get good and drunk by the time she went home.

"Enjoy yourselves. I'm going to get myself something to eat."

"S-s-stitches?" Buddingtonite didn't want to even fathom the word being spoken, but he could not deny what the young man had said. He looked down at his and gave a sigh, figuring that there was no way of getting around it. Amethyst was a doctor and he trusted his opinion on the matter, and in regards to his shots, he spat. "I'm not a dog, you know. 'Sides, I don't think you get tetanus from Senshi finger nails... unless you do, then... erm... three years ago?"

He couldn't remember, honestly. He didn't like needles, but he knew better than to avoid his vaccinations. Better a second of discomfort than death by tetanus... he didn't want to THINK about it! "Alright, well... best cart me away to do that, then... maybe they'll show pity on me when they see my stitches and brand me a war hero instead?"

He set the beer down without a second thought and stood, refusing to use Amethyst as a crutch until they were outside of Painite's line of sight. He did not wish to appear weak before her, and no doubt leaning against a lieutenant would have came off that way. He gave her a respectful bow of the head, before grabbing the starseeds and energy he collected that night and setting it down on the table. "In courtesy of Lieutenant Amethyst and myself, my lady. Please, do invite me for the next shindig..."

Serpentine nodded towards the departing General, a clear sign of his improved spirits as he drained his beer. He plucked up the rainbow bear he had initially chose. It was a silly thing, and he would have mocked anyone who attempted to give him the trinket. Yet, he tucked it into his belt beside his rubber snake and thought nothing of it. He would remember this night, her words, and this bear would help him to remember.

Buddingtonite hung about a new individual tonight, one the lieutenant did not know. His partner had apparently found another to listen to his ramblings. The rainbow-haired man was too vain and proud to admit to jealousy or obvious concern--not when his partner was not seeking sympathy. So, instead, he pulled a plush rose from the pile and lobbed it towards him. It was the most appropriate souvenier for his friend, surely.
