Walpurgis glanced down as his communicator vibrated in his pocket. Pulling it out, he gave it a cursory glance before sighing. Merrick. What little he had seen of the new recruit marked him as a loose cannon to Walpurgis, but perhaps it was too soon to have drawn a conclusion. Irregardless, it was a mission, and so it had to be followed. He turned and made his way to the grunt's room.

----------------------------------

Rao made his way through the crowded streets, his distinctive uniform serving to separate him from everyone else in the city. To his knowledge, he was the only Team Magma member in Zatao - the chances of Groudon being here were very slim, and so they had sent members accordingly. He looked around suspiciously, watching some people with more attention than others. The actions made people drift away from him, murmuring quietly amongst themselves.

----------------------------------

Walpurgis stopped outside Merrick's room and sighed again. Nothing for it. He gave the door three knocks and waited.

Merrick stirred at the triple knocks at the door. Just then his communicator went off. He slowly sat up from his bed and stretched and reached over to the table next to the bed and grabbed the small red object. As he read the text on the screen he smiled happily.
"Finally.. A mission," he responded, maybe a little too loud, "A chance to please Big Brother."
He stood and made a small mental note around the room, as he made sure everything was in it's place. He ran his hand through his disheveled hair and moved slowly around the room, each step calculated, each motion deliberate. On the desk a pencil was out of place, so he made sure it back in it's container, point side down, then double checked to make sure it was right. "Point side down, always point side down." he said rhythmically to himself. He called to the door, why he didn't really know as if a door would answer back, "Be right there!"
He grabbed his crimson trench coat and made his way to the door. One last check around the room, each thing must be in it's place. He opened the door to see another member of Team Rocket waiting. "You must be Walpurgis, off we go?" Merrick responded in a gruff voice with a mysterious grin.

Walpurgis nodded and turned back towards the exit of the base. He began to compartmentalize the information he had so far received. A Team Magma operative was in the area - he didn't recall hearing of any activity in Zatao, so it would probably be a scout of some type. Probably better to stay discreet and not take action until it was absolutely necessary. But the more immediate question was right behind him.

Walpurgis cast a look at the grunt behind him, thinking. He had taken a while to get to the door - not too much of an issue, but it might be smart to look into it. He didn't know anything about the man's physical capabilities, but he looked to be in good enough shape, so it probably wasn't that he took a while out of weakness. Arrogance? His thoughts drifted to Karina. He shook his head. No, it probably wasn't that. Well, whatever - it wouldn't do any good to over think things now.

Upon exiting the base, Merrick stood and made another note, just another in the many to come, about direction he was headed, where he came from and any areas that may prove vital in escaping if necessary. Once he was satisfied, he nodded his head and walked on towards the location of the mission, making sure to keep Walpurgis nearby.
After an hour or so, he stopped suddenly.
"I have come to an idea, Walpurgis, let me explain," he said as he turned to Walpurgis. "There are houses around here yes?" he asked, but without letting him answer, Merrick continued, "And in those houses they have stuff, of which they may or may not be worth looting, pilfering, or taking, am I right?"
Again without waiting for an answer, he continued, "Let us explore and see if there is something worth my attention." A small grin creased his face as Merrick reached for the lone pokeball on his belt.

Walpurgis stopped and turned to the grunt. "First of all, I figure you aren't generally this polite, so you can cut the crap. I may be higher ranked than you, but I'm still just a member of Team Rocket. Treat me like any other member. As for your question: no. We're on a mission. While I suppose that most Team Rocket members would share your sentiments, I won't allow you to compromise the mission for petty burglary." He turned back around and pointed to the path leading into the city. "We'll get on the path before entering the city. It'll draw less attention."

He continued to walk wordlessly.

Merrick cocked his head to one side and a the faintest of flickers sparked in his eye. His face became stern and he looked straight at Walpurgis and spoke stranger than before.
"We're on a mission. We're on a mission." came the words before he thought about it, and then continued, "Let me explain. Raphael does what he needs, when he needs, as usually it will benefit the mission. I am not sure what burglary you are speaking, but it must be important." spoke the strange gruff voice.
He grabbed his temple as if fighting off a headache and twitched his head.
"Sorry you had to meet Big Brother, I hope he was nice," spouted Merrick quickly before he raced towards a nearby house. Cautiously he stalked the grounds before he found the best path up to the house, using the least amount of steps, leaving the best escape plan, and would cause the least amount of noise. The last thing he thought before he entered the house was if Walpurgis would join in his escapade or wait for him to return.

Walpurgis turned a weary look upon the man behind him. More crazy? I thought we were full up. As the grunt ran up to the house, Walpurgis sighed. I know I said to treat me like any other grunt, but come on. He shook his head. "Screw it, this works out for me, too."

Walpurgis continued on the path alone.

Merrick entered the house quietly and cautiously surveyed the room. Posters splattered the walls of various pokemon, a bed rested among one wall, covers strewn haphazardly, and a dresser was on the opposite wall.
"What a treasure trove! Let's see what gold I can find!" Merrick thought to himself as he walked silently towards the dresser and started with the top drawer. He slowly opened it and it was as if it shown brightly, ladies undergarments were tossed in the drawer with what seemed like no rhyme or reason.
"Folded, always folded!" the words came out as his hands went to work silently and swiftly. He folded the garments neatly and placed them by brand, then by color before he smiled, "Much better."
He did the same for the rest of the drawers, and straightened up the top of the dresser as well, meticulously placed things where he thought they belonged. Next he was off to the bed, stripped it of covers, and then promptly made the bed. He scanned the room and made mental notes. He nodded to himself when he agreed it was superb and made his way out of the room into the hallway, his crimson robe rustled silently as he moved swiftly and expertly down the hall. He leaned towards each door to listen for movement, before opening the door.
"No one is home it seems," Merrick thought to himself and preceded to clean and straighten the house before his last stop in the bathroom.
"One roll, always only one roll," he said to himself and went to his work. On his way out, the same way he came in of course, he grabbed one item. Once he was safely back on the road, his treasure in hand, he looked around. Walpurgis was no where to be seen.
"I hope he didn't go back," Merrick said aloud before he walked a bit. "I guess this is as good as time as any to take a break," he said as he grabbed his pokeball and tossed it into the air, "Jabbawockie! Come play!"

Walpurgis walked through the crowded streets, keeping an ear out for any information in regards to the Team Magma operative. As expected, someone in such a noticeable outfit was the talk of the town. He changed his path to the direction people had mentioned him going when a familiar voice rang out.

"Dr. Lothar! Fancy seein' ya in town!"

Walpurgis turned to the source of the voice, an officer with shoulder length sandy-blonde hair. He smiled. "Miss Hartmann; a pleasure, as always."

The woman laughed. "Oh, such a charmer as always! Betcha have to beat the ladies away with a stick." She winked as she spoke.

Walpurgis feigned offense. "How rude! I'm a doctor - beating people would certainly not be something I'd do." He laughed, smiling as he continued. "I just stopped into town for some supplies - not everything is readily available in the forest, after all. Vials, fresh mortars and pestles, man-made, after all. I wish I was a craftsman, sometimes, be able to make them myself." He laughed again.

Officer Hartmann smiled teasingly. "Oh, so there's somethin' ya can't do? I was starting to wonder..."

Walpurgis frowned. "There's lots I can't do! Fighting criminals, for one! I don't know how you do it - they just seem so frightening! I'll stick with medicine, thank you very much."

The woman laughed. "Well, I'm just awesome, is all." She smiled at him. "Well, I'd better not keep ya. You got yer errands to get to, and I don't want Sam gettin' on my case; I am on patrol after all. Already saw some weirdo in a costume down that way." She pointed a thumb back over her shoulder. "Tell ya what. How about I come see ya on my day off next wednesday. We'll get dinner some place." She grinned mischeviously. "My treat."

Walpurgis smiled back, nodding. "I'd like that. Be safe, Miss Hartmann."

The two waved at each other and continued on their way. Walpurgis made a mental note to clear up anything on Wednesday, and to buy some supplies.

After a few hours Merrick and his Chatot decided it was time to get back to work. Merrick motioned towards his pokemon and she silently glided down to him and landed on his shoulder. "Right shoulder, always the right shoulder." he said without hesitation.
Merrick started off towards the end of town, towards his goal, and silently hoped he would meet up with Walpurgis soon, else the fun would be wasted later. He made it to the edge of the town and waited patiently, no telling if he were ahead or behind.
"Not too long, but just in case." Merrick said aloud.

Walpurgis continued watching the Magma operative from afar. For hours, the man had walked from store to store, examining everything but buying nothing. For hours Walpurgis had watched the man, and he had absolutely nothing to show for it. Nothing.

Is he aware of me? For the tenth time since starting his surveillance, Walpurgis wondered if the man was on to him, and for the tenth time he brushed the worries away. If the man was aware of him, he would have done something about it by now. What was he planning?

----------------------------------

Rao continued investigating the stores. Did no one sell Anti-Feminist Cologne? What fools! They'll never be prepared for the invasion at this rate! A thought struck him. What if they don't carry it because they've already been converted!? He quickly looked around and saw a man watching him from across the store. He stole a glance at the cashiers -- women! The store was compromised! He had to get the other man out of here before they killed him.

He dashed over to the man, who had started to turn and walk away when Rao looked at him. Grabbing the man by the hand, he tugged him to the door. "Come on! It's not safe here!" He whispered furiously at the man.

----------------------------------

Walpurgis continued watching the magma operative when suddenly the man looked directly at him. s**t. He turned and began to walk off when the operative rushed over and grabbed him by the wrist. Walpurgis went to reach for his knife when the man whispered to him to come with. Then he was being pulled by the man, and he decided to relent. Maybe he could find out his plans if he went along with it. Better than to cause a scene.

Merrick made his way through the city and approached a street of many stores. A small ruckus caught his attention and noticed someone that looked suspicious run up to Walpurgis. "What a strange outfit, maybe a uniform of some sort?" he thought to himself. Merrick caught the other man mouth something, but was too far away to hear, but once he saw that Walpurgis was grabbed, Merrick went defensive, immediately he looked around to find possible routes, least amount of casualties and remembered what he could about following people.
Before he could react and follow the man half dragging Walpurgis, Merrick cocked his head to one side and a the faintest of flickers sparked in his eye. His face became stern and he breathed strangely.
"What is this? He gets caught and Merrick didn't do anything? What a waste of space! Waste of space!" Raphael said to himself. The personality had started to take root and survival mode kicked him. He watched cautiously and followed best he could whilst he kept to the shadows. "Wherever he is taking him won't be good, but that pathetic weakling Merrick wouldn't have been able to save him anyway." he whispered to himself, then added without thinking about it, "Save him anyway."

Walpurgis was dragged into an alley by the magma operative, who looked around as if for bystanders. The man nodded. "Yes, we're safe here. But we'll have to be quick - the feminists are crafty; as expected of women."

"What."

The magma operative shook Walpurgis' hand that he had yet to let go of. "You can call me Super Mega Galaxy Man for now. Can't be too sure you're not actually one of them. No, never too sure. They're too crafty, enlisting men in their schemes. But you look trustworthy. Yeah, like one wooden shoe and one metal one, but instead of shoes it's gloves. You understand, right, man?"

Walpurgis pinched the bridge of his nose and shook his head. "No. No, I really don't. What are you doing?"

The man leaned closer to him. "I'm saving the world. There is a vast feminist conspiracy, and they plan to kill all men. Kill us, and replace us with woman versions of us. I can't let that happen. No, I won't let that happen. It'll be the end of the world as we know it. Like in that movie where it was the end of the world as they knew it, and then the world ended, but in this case, I'll stop the world from ending, so it won't really be like that at all. Whatever."

Walpurgis shook his head. Stick to the mission. He pointed at the magma uniform. "What's with the get up? It protect you from feminist mind control rays or something?"

Rao's eyes went wide. "Feminist mind control rays?! They've progressed so far?!!" The man bit his thumb. "This is bad. I wasn't aware of this development...."

Walpurgis waved his hands. "Oh, no! I'm sure they don't have those. I just figured maybe you knew something I didn't."

The magma operative calmed down. "Oh! Oh, that's good. That's good..." He breathed a sigh of relief. "Anyways, nah, the uniform doesn't have any special function. At least not that I've found. Maybe it transforms into a battle suit like in those anime with the transforming battle suits when you shout 'henshin!' and then there's a big flash of light and then the heroes of justice rush at the bad guys and they're all like 'Raaaagh' and then it's all 'Shwiiiing!'. But I don't think so. It's just the standard Team Magma uniform." He paused. "I should see about getting it upgraded into a transforming battle suit. And get mind control protection. Yeah, that'd be good."

Walpurgis was pretty sure he didn't follow any of that, but at least it was clear that he was a magma member rather than someone in an identical get up.

"What are they talking about?" Raphael thought to himself as he watched the two talk quietly. His eyes moved side to side searching, always listening and wary of things around him. Raphael slowly edged closer just in time to hear the end of the conversation. Without realizing, he was mimicking the sound effects the strangely clad man was saying and had to catch himself lest he be caught.
"What is this mind control he is so scared of?" Raphael spoke quietly to himself, "... so scared of?"
"I wonder if Jabba can help," He said as he reached for his pokeball on his belt and released his Chatot quietly. Jabbawockie instantly soared into the shadows and watched from a high perch.
"Best to be prepared," Raphael told himself and turned serious as he watched the two people unfold, "Best to be prepared."

Walpurgis froze as he heard the unmistakable sound of a pokeball being opened. This was bad - he'd invested a lot of time into the Dr. Lothar persona, and he couldn't just get into a battle in the city, even if it was an alleyway. His eyes immediately flicked to the Team Magma member in front of him, wary of an ambush, but the man seemed just as surprised as he was. The Team Magma member whispered at him. "Act natural - the feminists might attack if they're aware we're aware of them. Let's go."

The Team Magma member lead him out of the alleyway and out of the city, into the surrounding forests. He turned to Walpurgis once they were a safe distance out of the city. "I can trust you, I think. If you were with them, you would have attacked me by now." He nodded to himself. "My name is Rao." He extended his hand to Walpurgis. "What's yours?"

Walpurgis was wary of the man, still, but he shook his hand and smiled. "I'm Siegfried Lothar, a doctor on the outskirts of town."
