The sun had yet to rise.
A loud, lusty yawn startled a morning cricket from it's perk on a small rock, causing the creature to disturb the grass just a bit. The weather was warm, dew resting on leaves and blades of grass. Erevu, now a full adult, shook his mane before smacking his mouth in sleepiness. He had just woken up, planning on keeping to his routine; sooner or later, he planned on becoming a scout. And, because of such, he was determined to prepare for it.
Stretching his legs briefly, he finally walked forward, weaving in between the trees tiredly, until he finally reached a small pond. Before he could give second thought to the cooled water, he jumped in. Erevu allowed a gasp as the water covered him to his neck, chills running through him. He fought the temptation of running out to dry and simply waded through it until he was fully awake.
Finally, after deeming himself unable to fall asleep even if he wanted to, the lion left the pond, smiling fondly at the fireflies that skittered along the surface of the pond. His childhood infatuation was there to greet him a good morning.
And a good morning that it was. Shaking out his fur, Erevu grinned up at the pink gradient sky, deciding he would simply wait and watch the sunrise. Then will he venture towards the border to practice and observe.

Yai was always awake early, and she did not waste any time getting into her morning routine. She was a huntress but she did not think that meant she could just slack off until someone was hungry. She needed to make sure she was strong and capable, after all, and she needed to keep her body fit and her senses sharp.
So she had to get up each morning and do some training.
She was jogging when she spotted the male lion sitting nearby, and glanced in the direction his gaze seemed oriented. He was looking out over the horizon, and she saw the sun beginning to rise just at the edge of it.
Curious, she padded toward him, tilting her head at him in wonder as she sat herself down next to him, not too far off.
"Are you usually up to watch the sun rise?" She was not sure if he knew she had sat down next to him, but she spoke quickly and did not seem worried about startling him, acting as though he was expecting her. Of course, she had never met him before, but that was just a little detail.

He heard the footsteps long before he heard the voice.
If he hadn't heard the footsteps, Erevu doubted he would ever cut it as a scout. No, he needed to keep his senses sharp and always remain alert. So, as he watch the pink portion in the horizon spread over the sky, the brown lion listened as the other came closer and closer, with no obvious intent on sneaking.
It was a female; this he wasn't expecting. For some reason, in the back of his mind, he had expected the arrival of a male. A bit startled, he glanced over to her, nerves now racking his body. He moved to stand up but, after great effort, decided against it.
"Um, not usually," Erevu blurted out, eyes widened for only a moment before he forced himself to calm down. "I mean to say, I'm usually up this early, but not always to watch the sunrise." he corrected lamely, glancing to the side.
Well, Erevu thought hesitantly, I best make my introductions. "I don't believe I've seen you around. I'm Erevu. A-And you?" he nearly muttered at his stutter. Why, oh why, did he become so awkward with the opposite gender?
Clearing his throat, Erevu turned his crimson eyes back towards the horizon. She was a rather attractive lion. It made sitting calmly rather difficult. "You're gorgeous," he blurted out what was on his mind before he realized it. He whipped his head around in horror, eyes wide as he stared for a reaction. "I-I didn't mean to be so forward, you see. I really... I'm sorry for being so blunt." he rushed out, hoping she wouldn't take offense. Or worse, that she was mated and ran off to tell a rather possessive male.
Lithia_Brandon Ah. I think adult!Erevu has grown nervous around females. 8')

Yai watched him patiently, not looking too put off by his anxiety at first. She had seen plenty of awkward males around before and she had no trouble with things like that. She had patience to spare, though she did not look like it.
Her expression softened, as she was often told she spent her time looking too severe, and she even laughed when he stammered out a compliment and then a flurry of apologies for it.
"I am the last female to apologize to, after calling them something so nice as that. It's the first time I've ever heard anything like it, too, so I would rather you didn't take it back or feel bad for it." She smiled at him easily, flicking her tail behind her. Maybe she was too serious about her duties sometimes, but she had a warm spot in her, and she was a rather nice lioness, despite all the time she spent alone.
It was just easier to get things done and to keep herself motivated when she had no distractions. So this morning she was just going to let herself see what these distractions could be like, and maybe make a friend. Or at least get a nice conversation in.
"You are not so hard on the eyes, either, you know. Why are you so nervous now?"

Erevu was beside himself nervous. But, the longer he spent in her company, the easier it was to settle down. Even though it was taking for what seemed like forever. He glanced at the horizon again; the sun was going to peek in a matter of minutes.
Looking back at the female, he saw her expression softening and, in return, felt his own tensed muscles relaxing. He still fidgeted just a bit, his motions just a tince bit too quick. "Oh, I don't take it back!" he blurted out in a rush, before smiling bashfully. "It's just, well..." he paused. What was his train of thought. He decided to just leave it as it was. Maybe it'll come back to him a little later.
Something about what she said bothered him though. He blinked when he realized just what it was. "The first time? That's insane!" he astounded, crimson eyes wide and nerves forgotten. "I shouldn't be the first to tell you it." he muttered, looking rather troubled. What was wrong with the rest of the male population?
At her next comment, he blinked owlishly, before processing just what she said. Not hard on the eyes? He was beyond himself embarrassed. Clearing his throat, he looked nervously away, and saw the top of the sun in the horizon. The sun was rising. Erevu, nerves once more forgotten, watch with fascination as the sun was beginning to creep out of it's slumber. He was rather excited; it wasn't very often he took his time to watch a sunrise.
Casting a enthusiastic grin over at the lioness, he completely forgotten about her query as to why he was nervous. "Isn't it beautiful?" he laughed, watching it once more. It was such a treat to see this sight. "Ah, this makes me feel so much better." Grinning, he laid down, prepared to watch the sunrise. "Why don't you join me, er..." he furrowed his eyebrows. "I never got your name." he stated lamely.

Yai smiled, but didn't make a comment on his insistence that others should call her pretty. Half because she didn't believe him, and half because she knew it was mostly her fault. She stayed away from most other lions.
Until now, at least.
"My name is Yai," she said with a smile and a nod, scooting a bit closer and sitting down beside him. She looked across the horizon to watch the sun as it peeked up, coloring the sky in radiant colors. "And I would be happy to join you. I've never really sat down to enjoy the sunrise like this before, but it seems like a nice idea. I like it already, to be honest."
She smiled contentedly, watching the sun but glancing in his direction a few times. He still looked nervous. "I hope I'm not making you uncomfortable. You seem like a nice guy. You should relax."

His ears perked up at her name. "Yai, is it?" Erevu repeated, smiling. "A very simple and easy to remember name. I like it." Nodding his head, he could feel his body heat rising as she scooted closer to him. He shifted self consciously. Staring hard at the sunset, he tried to keep his whole body still.
"You haven't?" he croaked. His eyes widened at the horrid was his voice cracked and he shook his head. "Sorry for that. But I'm quite surprise. I've only done this a few times myself but I find it very soothing." He ducked his head. "Um... We c-could always do this again sometime?" he muttered shyly.
When she pointed out her uncomfortableness, something snapped with in him. He stared at her, blinking, before breaking down in a fit of laughter. Head on the floor, he tried to rein in the laughs but it was useless. His sides began to hurt.
Finally, he was able to quell it down to scattered chuckles. "I'm terribly sorry. Really. It's just, well," he said with a large grin and watery eyes. "I've been behaving rather ridiculous, haven't I?" he ducked his head bashfully. "I don't really talk to females very much and just don't know how to talk to them. My worries must have ran away with me," Erevu said, laughing. Oh, he was still nervous, but the light aired morning, sunrise, and the fact his nerves were pointed out to him was curing him temporarily. Come a few hours and he was bound to be a nervous wreck around a female once more.

Yai smiled. She liked her name well enough, if only for the reason that he pointed out. It was easy to remember and she was glad that she did not have to bog people down with long names or anything of the sort. Sometimes it was too much of a bother to have to spit out a fell ten syllables just to say hi.
One was great. Anything over... five... was a bit too tiring for her sometimes, and she sought nicknames.
His invitation had her smiling though and she nodded her head.
"If you are willing to come here, then I will meet you, and we can watch the sun rise together. Get to know one another? I've never really had a good friend before. My family, maybe, but even that I drifted from and became a little bit of a loner..." She smiled at him and moved to sit a bit closer so he did not feel so awkward. Or make him feel even more awkward? Either way, it was adorable.

Erevu smiled widely at this; she was willing to meet up with him again! Intentionally! Feeling practically giddy, he placed his head on his paws, grinned ear to ear as he watched the sunrise. Every now and then, however, he would glance over at her from the corner of his eyes.
"Then it's settled. I'll meet you here for the following mornings." He let out a chuckle that ended off weirdly due to the other moving even closer. Oh dear, what was that noise he made? "Well, I think we can be great friends. It's lonesome to be by yourself." he amended, wincing at the childish way he put it. The sun was now a half circle over the horizon. It was a breathtaking sight. He looked over at her with a blissful smile. "Yea, let's definitely do this again sometime, Yai." he murmured, crimson eyes catching the sun light. Yea, she was attractive. But Erevu found her personality even more refreshing, despite how nervous she made him feel.

Yai smiled at him and swished her tail thoughtfully around behind her before it curled around her front legs and came to rest. She was very content and almost forgot herself, realizing she was oddly excited by the idea of having a friend in the works.
He was someone she could get to know.
"It is lonely... and I have to admit, this is much nicer to be together with someone. I never went out of my way to learn about others." She hummed and looked out toward the horizon, watching the sun rise on its slow but pretty course into the sky. She had to admit, it was a romantic looking scene, and now she knew why her lovey dovey friends were so keen on things like this.
Once it was in the sky, though, she felt her own nerves settling in. She stood, looking at him and smiling sheepishly.
"So I will see you tomorrow? I should get back to my duties... but I will come back here tomorrow morning, anyway, if you want to meet me. Or not." She shuffled her paws, then nodded her head and turned to pad off, a bit quickly.
