The nice day was not lost on Candy Dandy. As soon as she realized that the sun was going to be out, and there were probably going to be phonies all over the park, her friend making nature kicked into high drive. Today was a day to make friends. And what better way to make friends than to offer complete strangers gifts!?

But upon scouring her mother's kitchen, there was not a single extraneous treat to be found. Nice days and lots of phonies out and about meant that there were plenty of patrons at the bakery, and her mother was busy pulling out piles of cookies and platters of cupcakes to notice that her daughter was in need of friend making tools. She tried to get her attention once, then twice, and then gave up. There must be something else that she could use...

Flowers! That was it! Candy rushed out of the bakery as fast as her little hooves could carry her. She ran to the park, where she knew no one would miss a couple flowers here and there, and began to pick blooms until her saddlebags were spilling over with them. Then she took her time returning home, handing out flowers here and there.

She noticed a filly on a bench with a book, and smiled. Here was another phony to befriend! She trotted over, and said "Hi there!"

She had startled the filly, and felt a small bit of guilt, but that quickly went away when she said hello. The filly had a pretty mane, and her coat was really dark. Almost the opposite of the bright colored filly that was talking to her. Candy Dandy bounced a couple times up and down. "Sorry I scared you. I didn't realize you were reading!"


"What's your name?" she asked, taking a step closer to the dark coated filly.

"Wow that's a long name! I'm glad you like to shorten it!" Candy said, giggling. She looked the phony up and down once, and noticed that her legs were a little bit....transparent. She could see the outline of the other legs behind them. How curious!

Oh! Back to her question! "My name is Candy Dandy, but if you wanna call me just Candy, that ok too. Is your book ok?" She noticed how much care Lemure had put into picking up the book and making sure it was clean. Candy didn't read much; many of the words in larger books were simply too big and her attention span hadn't allowed her to sit in one place for a longer period of time. But nevertheless, she was fascinated by books, and the phonies who could read them.

Lemure looked uncomfortable, a feeling that Candy was not overly familiar with. She never really felt uncomfortable taking to anyone, at any time. The only time she supposed she was uncomfortable was when she had gotten trapped face first in a rabbit hole. But even then, she had made a new friend!

Oh! She had almost forgotten why she was wondering the park! She twisted and reached into her saddlebag, removing one red and one blue flower. Candy offered them to Lemure with her hoof, and said "I'm out looking for Phonies who might need a new friend. And since you were sitting alone, I figured you could!" It wasn't until later that she found out that she had WANTED to be alone, but it was in the past!

"These are for you!"

"Oh that's ok!" she said sweetly, handing the flowers to Lemure. "You don't have to give me anything. All that matters is that you are happy!" That's what being friends was about right? Being happy with the other phony you were with!

"I suppose you want to get back to reading." she said, silly grin still plastered to her face. "I can let you do that if you want. I'm sure there are plenty of other phonies who could use a smile!"
