The sunlight cast shadows on the forest floor from it's late afternoon position in the sky. Very carefully, the crouched pink vixen hopped into a neighboring shadow. She took only a moment to balance herself before repeating her crouch and hop to the next shadow on the ground. There was no particular direction she was headed, no destination other than the next shadow she would hop to.
She knew somewhere in the back of her mind that she probably looked silly to other foxes, being a full grown adult and still hopping from shadow to shadow as if the bright part of the ground was a river that would sweep her away or fire that would burn her up.
Still, it didn't matter what other foxes thought of her. Faina was having a blast and that was all that mattered to her. Although she was mighty lonely. The bright vixen hesitated and slumped her shoulders, a wave of homesickness washing over her. How long had it been now since she'd seen her twin sister? Or her parents? When was the last time she saw snow for that matter?
Although a part of her longed to go home, her adventure was not over yet. Many months ago, possibly even a year now, Faina left her family in the snow so that she could find herself. Her family had always told her she was to trusting of other foxes. Sheik, her father, had once told her of many bad and malicious foxes but she hadn't believed him. In her time she had come across a number of foxes that weren't part of her tribe and they were all alright in their own ways.
No, she wouldn't return home until she actually found a reason to be afraid of the "real" world.
