Ink was more then a bit tired. Late nights and long days were catching up to him and he really wanted a weekend to just sleep. But here it was, Saturday evening, just before all the night spots were going to open. Draft, who he'd not seen in awhile, had called asking him to come by the club before opening. Something about planning a party. Ink's body ached reflexively at the word "party". He could do with skipping a party or two, but Draft had stressed it was important he drop by, so the purple stallion couldn't refuse. If it was some kinda party tonight..ugh..

Draft was in his club, headphones on and a beat mixing in his ears. He almost didn't notice the arrival of his cousin, Ink. He had called the stallion earlier and asked him to come by to help make plans for a party. A party he was more than excited about and wanted his best friend to be there with him. Finally he noticed the long haired stallion and removed his headphones to go greet him.
"Dude! Totally rockin to see you, Ink. Thanks for coming over. I'm trying to get all the prep done for the big show and I needed to ask you something important," he smiled and took Ink over to the bar to have a seat. The bartender, always there making sure things were stocked poured them some drinks. He wondered if his Auntie Noel had been informed of his coming nuptials and had already told Ink. As much as his mother was excited he was surprised there weren't advertisements for the wedding all over Phonyland.
"Ink, I don't know if you've heard or not but I proposed to Lullaby! We are getting married!"

Ink blinked at Draft. The idea slowly slowly dripped into his brain. His mouth opened to respond but nothing came out so he closed it again. Inwardly he begged his brain to come up with the right response for the situation. Instead he picked up the drink the bar tender had poured for him, threw it back in one gulp and plopped it back down onto the bar. " Come on, come onnnn...respond..say something..." he urged himself inwardly. His cousin's happy face was slowly morphing into something into more of a concerned look. " Well I guezz zat meanz you will be a happy married man and you won't have time for me or ze club anymore.." he said, a slight bitterness to his tone. Ok well..maybe that wasn't the something he should have said....

Draft honestly looked concerned as Ink didn't seem to respond like everyone else had to the news of his wedding. In fact Ink looked more upset than anything. He knew the stallion had crushed on him for awhile but he couldn't help who he loved. But Ink was his best friend, he had always enjoyed his company. At his comment and downing of the drink Draft actually smiled.
"Ink. Dude really? You think Lullaby would let me give up on my club?" he chuckled and shook his head, "Naw I redecorated my back room so Lullaby could visit me on occasion. He stays back there since crowds kinda freak him out. And when I get breaks....well...." he grinned and winked.
The bitter tone hurt Draft, knowing his best homeboy was hurting. Maybe that happened to all dudes when they hooked up for life. He reached over and put a hoof on the other's shoulder, "And I need you now more than ever Ink. I wanted to ask you to be my best man in my wedding. You know stand beside me as I take the plunge so to speak."

Ink tried to smile, tried to look happy for his bro but, he never could bluff well. He knew his emotions were written all over his face and to say what Draft wanted to hear would be hollow. "Ye..yeah yeah..I get what goez on..." Ink said, a blush creeping across his face at the idea of Lullaby and Draft together. They'd had.."parties" together before after club hours with lots of mares and stallions, but the idea of his best friend with his boyfriend seemed...something he shouldn't be thinking about. Ink reached behind the bar and grabbed the first bottle his hooves hit, pouring a glass of it and shooting it down. "Bezt man..huh.." the bitterness in his tone now gone, more of a sadness.

Draft sighed a bit as he watched Ink begin to take swigs from the random bottle. He had hoped for a better reaction but then again perhaps he should have expected this reaction as well. He waited for Ink to finish his swig before speaking again, "Yeah dude. I mean you are my best friend. I wanted you there. Wanted you to be a part of a great celebration."
Draft didn't know entirely what else to say. Ink was almost family with the relationship their mothers had. And he knew Ink wouldn't dislike Lullaby considering it would take the grumpiest badger in the world to dislike the white stallion. "You ok with that dude? If you don't want to it's ok."

"It'z juzt..it'z like you're breaking up ze group! Zat you can't 'ave fun anymore and zings!!" Ink knew full well he sounded like he was whining, but the idea that it just wouldn't be him and his best friend and bro anymore just broke his heart. "I don't know 'ow to put it any othzer way..I..I don't want to loze you..you're ze phony I am clozezt too..I feel like zat I will be replazed in your life.."

Draft listened to Ink despair at the sudden break up of their two man band. It made sense that Ink would think that but Draft had an answer to his worries. He smiled and put an arm around Ink's shoulders, giving him a hug, "Dude you do realize I'll need you more than ever right?"He spun in his seat and hopped off, walking to the dance floor. "I've heard of the horrors of the 'honey do' list as well ask what will happen once me and Lull have kids," he chuckled, "Who will come to my rescue to keep me from doing house chores or keep kiddos from pulling my hair? Also I'll need a break from the whole "married life" every now and then, need to have some wild times. And who else would Lull trust me to somewhat behave with than you?"

Ink chuckled. "If 'e waz zmart he would not truzt me to keep YOU in check, as I believe it waz you who taught me to be wild in ze firzt plaze...." it's said playfully. Putting the bottle back behind the bar, (he was so lucky Draft let him have free reign of the liquor), and turning the shot glass upside down, Ink sighed. Draft had good answers to his concerns and he felt his worries ease up a bit. "I knew zat it would 'appen zooner or later, zomeone getting all...familied up..I guezz I waz not expectzing zo zoon..." he gazed around the quiet nightclub, and chuckled. "I guezz zat I will have to keep zis plaze's reputation az ze hot plaze to go alive, zince everyone one will be like "oh noo Draft iz all married and zoft zo now it won't be az fun."Walking out onto the dance floor, Ink continues to tease his cousin. "You know what a pozition you put me in, all ze broken 'eartz zat I muzt comfort! I have a buzinezz to run too you know, I 'ave to zleep zomtimes!!"

Draft laughed when Ink mentioned his ah....lessons in life.....he had given his bro when he was younger. Ok so maybe trying to explain Club girls like they were normal girls hadn't been his best move but he did get a lot of entertainment out of it. His face softened a bit when Ink spoke of others getting married and having kids, granted he hadn't completely expected it so soon either.
"Hey we can't help what happens to our hearts. Hey you never know, tomorrow you may meet the mare or stallion of your dreams and I'll be your best man," he grinned and waggled his eyebrows. At Ink's next comment he did laugh loudly, his empty club resonating his melodious laugh all over the place. "Soft huh? Well gosh how WILL I keep my party animal reputation?"
He held his hoof to his forehead, "Oh Ink, can you ever forgive me for putting you in such a position! I know it will be so tiring! I don't know how you will ever handle all those lovely groupies of mine."
