Home to Zelynity. She simply couldn't resist the sight of the place, and had to move in right away after leaving her home with her brother. The only other inhabitant is her doberman, Rocky.
Kitchen The kitchen is pretty plain and simple, all the necessities with an added espresso machine. Zelynity experiments a little with cooking when she isn't out getting the dirt on someone or something.
Living Room The living room is pretty basic as well, a sofa, love seat and chair. She also have a TV hanging from the wall that doesn't get much watching at all. The living room is used most by Rocky, who can usually be found asleep on the love seat.
Bathroom The bathroom has two sinks and two mirrors, not that she ever gets much company. But, she likes to think that some day these will both come in handy. The bathroom has a shower and a tub, the tub often used on days off and the shower when she has to run.
The Guest Bedroom The plainer and neater of the two rooms, simply because it is hardly ever used except for when Axel is over. The two of them have a slumber party in the room that is lightly decorated with things she assumes little boys love, like baseball.
Zelynity's Bedroom The sanctuary away from work for Zelynity. She has a small selection of her own books next to her bed. She regrets not bringing all of the others, but there simply wasn't enough room to bring all of it. The rest can be found laying around Raiden's house. She has a little desk set up where she does a lot of reading and analysis of cases.

Next was one of Lily's oldest followers~ Zelynity's heart was always in the right place, but somehow Lily couldn't help but feel a little disappointed. She lived on her own now, yes, but she was single... right? There was something that happened with the priest, but she couldn't say that she approved of romantic encounters without the formality of a proper relationship. Well, Zelynity wasn't getting any younger, maybe there would be some commitment in her future~ Zooming through the house, Lily headed to the kitchen to leave her gift~ She set a glass vase on the kitchen counter. The vase contained a branch of peach blossoms, as if it had been freshly cut from the tree at the peak bloom! Tied to the vase with blue ribbon was a small letter addressed to Zelynity Niami.

Jacob had been here plenty of times before on sleepovers, back when he was mourning the loss of his dreams and before he realized there was a possibility that someone could actually.. Well, duh, someone could, Jacob wasn't some insecure nancy-boy, but, the point was that he was at Zelynity's house for certainly not the first time, though he didn't remember bringing a fist full of, uh, snowdrops to her door. He thought they were pretty at the flower shop – well, from a girl's perspective, that is – but.. now they just sort of looked sad and droopy. He had half a mind to throw them out, but then he couldn't show up with nothing, right? He still had chocolates, but those were more of a present for himself if she rejected him. Not that he admitted that he would be the one to eat them in that situation while reading a couple of the romance novels he stored just in case under his bed. Nope, he would just pull himself up by the bootstraps and move on. He hoped he wouldn't have to do any of that, though, as he rang the doorbell and waited for the woman to answer.

Zelynity was curled up on the couch next to Rocky with a big blanket covering the two of them. Her outfit of choice for the time consisted of a tank top and shorts all pieced together with a large robe that she was sure used to be her brother's. She had a tissue clutched in her hand and was attempting to hold back any more tears. She was watching some sappy movie that had all of this love and she simply couldn't handle it! She knew that she had blown every chance that she had with the only guy that she had ever really fell for since she came to this stupid island! As if that wasn't bad enough, she had just turned forty within the last few days and her future was looking even more grim. Even if there were men worth trying for, she was getting so old. Would she even want to try anymore? Her body was bound to start closing up shop on her at any moment, and what point was there to romance if she couldn't have any children? Oh, some people got all the luck. She glanced over at the wall at a photo of Raiden and his happy little family and her eyes began to water again. Raiden was always such a loser! How is it that he was able to get what she had always wanted?! He never even cared to have a family while she had been planning her wedding since junior high. Rocky whimpered below and placed his head closer to her, causing a small smile to form on her face. "I'm sorry, boy. Mommy's okay, don't you worry." She patted his head with her free hand and slunk back down into the couch and tried to be strong for the conclusion of the film.
A few seconds later, she heard the sound of the doorbell and jolted upright. Who could that be? Probably Raiden busting in with his happy life to whine about something that wasn't even a real problem. She rolled her eyes before standing up and tossing the blanket over the arm of the couch. "Shhh... It's probably just Uncle Raiden." She tried to soothe Rocky from his insistent barking, but that didn't seem to be working. She rubbed her eyes in the small mirror by the door. Oh she looked such a mess, what did it even matter? She grabbed the sides of her robe and wrapped them around her in fear of the cold before opening the door. "Jacob." His name escaped her lips as she looked out at him. How could her life get any worse? It wasn't as if she wasn't entirely happy to see him there, but looking the way she did? She was a mess! "What are you doing walking to my house in the cold? Get in here!" She grabbed his arm and tugged him in before shutting the door behind him. She allowed the door to be practically the only thing keeping her from crumbling to the floor and forced a smile in his direction. It wasn't until then that she noticed that he was holding flowers. Were those for her? Had someone died? Was it a custom to just hold flowers for others while you visited someone? Those had to be for her, didn't they?
Oh she felt like she was going to start crying again. She needed to explain to him why she hadn't come around. He probably thought that she hated him. That's what this was. He was coming to tell her that he had found someone else! Look at that body. Look at the adorable face. She was certain that there were plenty of women, and probably men, that went to that church just to ogle him. He could have any one of them at the snap of his big, strong hands. She had to say something. She had to show him just how much he really meant to her! "I'm so so sorry that I haven't tried to contact you. I saw the announcement about your family's birthday party and I had planned on going to see you, but then I got bronchitis. I didn't want to make your whole family sick. They all seem so nice! I would never wish anything like that on them. But then it felt like too much time had past, and I really wanted to come see you, but I didn't want to seemlikeaburdenandIjustdidn'tknowwhattodoohJacobI'msosorrypleaseforgiveme!" At some point during her little speech, she started to talk much faster and her words began to run together. Perhaps it had something to do with the tears that had started forming again. Oh she was such a mess. She'd be lucky if she ever saw him again after this stunt. She should just board up the house now. She was doomed to a life of being a lonely old woman. Maybe she should get another dog.

It took a moment before anything happened, allowing Jacob time enough to wonder if maybe he should just leave and come back at a more appropriate time – like never, because this was a stupid idea and these flowers were going to make him look like some sap that would turn her off of him so quick. But, then he remembered the sleepovers and brushing her hair while watching sappy romance movies and crying. They were already past that point of, “Hey, I'm actually the pansiest bro you'll ever meet in the universe.” So, Jacob stayed right where he was at, though the memories didn't do anything to calm his nerves. After all, Zelynity had seen a pretty.. bad side of him, he wouldn't be surprised if she decided he wasn't a man enough and went with, Goddess, he didn't know – Rory? Didn't she mention that wimpy museum guy before?
He didn't have much time to mule over who exactly Zelynity would choose over him because, shortly after the barking of Zell's dog, the door opened and he saw her. She reacted faster than him, pulling him into the house before he could protest – not that he would, it was cold out. Still, he had to save his manhood somehow, so he managed out a, “I climb the mountain in worse weather than this, Zell.” It was true! The shrines were his duty! He did enjoy the warmth of the house and being inside Zell's house period and not having the door shut on him. But her smile was probably what he enjoyed most – or it would have been if she wasn't forcing it. He also noticed how she clung to the door and weren't her eyes just a little too red? ….Was Zell sick? Oh, Goddess, and he had her answer the door when she was probably dying of pneumonia?
He felt his stomach turn as he realized just how much of a jerk he really had been, but, before he could apologize, she had already started her spiel. Jacob shouldn't be surprised; talking was just the gift the Goddess granted to the almighty female. And cutting him off, as well as being totally, one hundred percent wrong. Or that could just be a thing Zell was doing in this specific situation. Either way, he hurried to break in because this wasn't Zell's apology, damn it. “I'm sorry for not contacting you, it was my job to do it.” He started firmly, thrusting the flowers towards her as he went on, “I started this and left you hanging – what kind of a guy just does that? I, uh,” He faltered because he really hoped this next part wouldn't be relevant ever, but even the chance of her feeling guilty about anything she may have done made this necessary, “I wouldn't blame you if you moved onto someone else already, but – Goddess, Zell, hang on.”
He couldn't just stand there talking to her when she was probably about to keel over. Whether she had taken the flowers or not, he released them and moved to pick her up as carefully as he could manage, hooking his arm under her knees and wrapping the other around her waist to keep her close. She should be laying down if she was sick, not standing there talking to the guy who screwed her over. So, he made things right by carrying her to the couch and laying her on it, tossing the blanket there over her for good measure. He stood up and cleared his throat, “You've never been a burden, so don't think that ever again, Zell. I like you around and if you want us to be, uh, around like how we were in the woods, then.. I mean, without the Goddess' intervention, we could do that.” He really should stop making fun of his nephew; he felt like he was acting way worse than the redhead at that moment. “I'm saying, do you want to go out with me officially, Zell?” Better.
{{ I'M SORRY IF YOU DON'T WANT HIM TO PICK HER UP. JUST TELL ME AND I'LL EDIT IT. ;A; }}

It felt nice slumped against the door to have a slight sense of support balanced with the loss of stability Zelynity felt in her knees. Was there ever going to be a point where he didn't make her heart race? She couldn't imagine that this relationship was very healthy for her. A few more years and each greeting they had might give her a heart attack. She could hardly hear him speaking over the pounding of her own heart and the repetition of don't cry, don't cry, don't cry. It wasn't until he rushed towards her and she sucked in a deep breath that she really began to lose control. Tears had started down her cheeks and her hand was trembling as she clutched the flowers that he held out for her. So, they were for her. She choked out a sob as he said something about her moving on. How could he ever think that she could possibly move on from him? Especially this soon! She wiped at her face with her free hand as she was instructed to hold on. What was he doing?
Oh it was over. It was all over. That's why he was apologizing. That's why he was being so nice. That's why he mentioned her moving on. He was giving her permission and now he was trying to think of the perfect way to say it. She was just about to open the door back up and tell him that she just couldn't entertain any guests right now when she found herself suspended in the air. It took her a few seconds to fully realize that she was in his arms, his big, strong, wonderful arms. When he put her down, she found herself wishing that he could just cradle her forever. Just when she thought that she had full control over her emotions again, he was mentioning that time in the woods. The memories that she had continually swirled around her head were coming back into focus until he said that final line. She grabbed the blanket and pushed it down so she could sit up. What would she say to that? How is it possible to put into words that she had never stopped thinking about him? That she had waited years for this very moment?
There was only one thing that she could say. There was only so much time before she was certain that the tears would start rolling again. "Yes." She stretched her arm out to hold onto his hand. Half of her just wanted to touch him, but the other half just needed to know that this was real. "A million times yes." Nothing had ever felt so real.

Why was she crying so much? Oh, Goddess, Jacob must have went over what he said mentally a dozen times as he watched her, trying to figure out just what it was he said that could have set off the waterworks. Had he been too forward? Or.. or maybe she was just so happy that she couldn't contain it without breaking into tears? Haha, no, Jacob wasn't that dumb. Maybe she had a headache or maybe she pulled a muscle or.. or maybe he had hurt her because he knew his grip could be a bit strong and, jeez, he hoped he hadn't bruised her or anything. He was just trying to figure out how to check if she was hurt or not without actually stripping her when she sat up and pulled the blanket off herself. Oh, Goddess, she was about to run into her bedroom and lock the door, wasn't she? He shifted his thought process onto deciding if he should grab her or not instead of the to-strip-or-not-to-strip inquiry, but, before that could reach a decision, the girl took his hand and said something he missed. But, regardless of whether he heard it or not, the answer was clear through her actions.
Or, he hoped it was. He really, really hoped he was reading her right because kissing her would be the worst thing one could do if she was saying no. Especially since he was risking getting sick too, which was something he could not afford as the only guy working at the church. Thankfully, though, she said it again, making the risk totally worth it as the day had been promoted to best day ever status which allowed Jacob to upgrade his lame chaste kiss to the kind that involved groping and making out annnnnd no, Jacob. For shame. He only sat on the couch and hugged her after kissing her briefly because Jacob was a gentleman and wouldn't ruin the moment by trying something more than that. “Okay. Okay, cool, then.. I guess I should take you out somewhere. When you're not sick, I mean.” A date. Jacob felt a smile come across his features as he fantasized briefly about that. Did Sonata Town have a carriage? “When are you free?”

Zelynity was trying to pull herself together. She was an emotional wreck. Why had he decided to come over when she was watching this sappy love movie? She had already been crying over a love that was surely not going to happen and then he just came to her door and made all of her dreams come true! You can't do that to a girl. He should've known better than to come when her lights were dim and she had taken so long to answer the door. Shouldn't he? Oh gosh. Maybe that was asking too much of him. She wasn't one to know how to work all of this love stuff. She took a deep breath when she saw that he was sitting. Oh and then he was kissing her, and she began to lose all feeling again. Was he touching her? Oh, this was a hug. This felt nice. She gently patted his back before he began to talk. Gosh, she needed to snap out of this weird daze that she was in. It felt like she was in her own little sappy movie and everything had finally gone right. Now came the part where she flipped the coin of fate. These movies always ended one of two ways. Either they rode off into the sunset together or someone wound up dead.
She sat back and looked at him as he finished talking. Oh! It was time for their first date. First dates were always so awkward. They had only just made this official, did he really need to go piling on the worry already? But, wait! Maybe this was good. She was now falling back down to the normal world. Oh no. She had confused him with her prior speech. "No, no. I'm not sick now. I was sick a few weeks back. I'm fine now! I was just watching one of those sappy movies and it made me cry." She laughed and brought the blanket back up to her chest. Now that they were an actual item thing, she needed to act like a lady! Just because he had seen the goods before didn't mean that he wouldn't have to work for them now. "I think that anytime would be good for me, well aside from work. Though, that's been pretty lax lately. So, I guess we're back to anytime." She smiled and brought her legs up to her chest. How was it that she felt so awkward now sitting in front of someone she had felt so comfortable with only ten minutes before? Why did this reality have to come crashing back down on her?

Oh, so, she wasn't sick. That meant he could throw caution to the wind and throw her down on the couch so they could commence the make outs and.. probably even more than that, considering they had already done it. Twice. But, Goddess, however much his body looked like he was still in his twenties, it didn't mean that he was really that young. He had spent the whole day hiking around the island, polishing the church from head to toe, and then doing his usual work out routine at the gym before heading over to Zelynity's house with enough anxiety to cripple even Tess. He didn't think he could handle it without falling asleep on her, which was probably the most humiliating thing a guy could do to a chick ever. Besides, he was pretty slaphappy from the whole she feels the same way thing. So, he kept himself at a reasonable distance and simply listened to her, trying his best not to look interested as she mentioned one of her sappy movies. The romantic kind, right? He.. he was so not interested in one of those movies, jeez – hadn't Jacob outgrown those stupidly sweet stories when he was like twelve?
Really, it was all for Zelynity that he moved himself over to her side, slipping an arm across her shoulders as he got himself comfortable. As emotionally and physically exhausted as he was, he still was really up for some cuddling and maybe hand holding? Yeah, he could do that. He took her hand as he spoke, rubbing it with his thumb to try to sooth her a little. She really seemed pretty uncomfortable, but he guessed it was just a lady thing – they always spooked easy when around a strong dude like himself. ….Okay, maybe that was because he was a bit of a jerk at times, but he liked to believe it was his manliness hormones getting to them. “Anytime can mean right now, right? I don't mind watching a movie with you, Zell. Even if it's one of those really tender-mushy-passionate ones. I can put up with it for you.” Because it really would be so hard to watch something that was so sappy it made Zelynity cry. Really.

How was it that she was even breathing? Her heart was pounding oh so very hard and she really, really did not want to do something silly right now. It wasn't that real yet. At any moment, he could retract his proposal and walk out that door and she would just be left with heartache. She had been staring rather blankly after she had finally stopped talking. She wasn't really sure why he was coming towards her, did he need to get that close to tell her he didn't want to be near her? Or... or... or was he going to kiss her? That could be wonderful. Maybe that would be reassuring. Maybe. Oh! He was just holding her. Oh gosh. He was holding her with those big and wonderful arms. When he reached for her hand, her body instantly stiffened. He was being so gentle and wonderful with her. She finally relaxed and allowed her head to lay comfortably on him. Ah, this was so nice. She reached for the remote and flipped through until she found something that looked as little sappy as possible. Sure, she wanted to watch a good movie, but she didn't want to bawl like a baby in front of her new boyfriend.
Jacob was no longer her close friend that she was able to cry in front of! He had magically transformed into this weird being that made her feel oddly uncomfortable. "This looks nice." She said with a smile before leaning up quickly to grab the blanket and spread it across their laps. Ah yes! Now they could be nice and cozy and romantic and all that stuff that made her feel like her heart might flop right out of her mouth. How was it that a woman that had just turned 40 was capable of feeling like such a little baby? This was just Jacob. Just the same old Jacob that she had desperately wished for. The same Jacob that had just asked her out. The same Jacob that was so close that she could hear his heartbeat. She began to feel like she might throw up and really needed to lie down. Surely Jacob wouldn't mind if she slid down into his lap. That way he wouldn't be able to see or hear her all that well and she could just watch the movie in peace while taking deep breaths. She slipped her hand away from his and started to move to a more comfortable position. Yes, that seemed like a great plan.
Okay. So, she clearly hadn't thought that through. What she thought would be a nice and fluid drop down ended up being a rather awkward transition. Her legs were simply too long to attempt to curl them up in the small space left, so she allowed her legs to reach off towards the floor. ...which might have worked if she hadn't moved them a little too far and lost her balance. Oh shoot. Ohhhh shoot. She flailed her arms in the split second of panic that she had before tumbling down to the ground. Well, this was officially the worst best day of her life.

Some romantic comedy, it seemed? Ah, well, that was fine – Jacob couldn't complain, even if he had been hoping for something that really pulled on his heartstrings and not an overly independent woman being trained in the ways of wooing slimeballs. Ugh, there was so much wrong with the two people he was supposed to sympathize with that he didn't know where to start or look. The girl was way too 'independent', which he guessed was cute in the same way a dog trying to use a fork was, but that just meant she hadn't had a man teach her how to behave so she was happy and comfortable. He could only look down on the guy for doing such a bad job. The same guy that gave her a sorrowful look as he realized the love of his life was going to a different man, which was entirely his fault because he had been the one to help her and oh, that regret. He could feel his heart clench at the scene, his eyes begin to burn and tear up as they filled with confusion. Why wouldn't she just ditch the doctor and go with the guy who loved her? Why didn't the guy punch that doctor in the face and make out with her right now? Why was this piece of s**t making him cry?
...It wasn't, actually, because Jacob didn't cry, not in front of his girlfriend. He glanced at her, but she seemed to be watching the movie and not him right then, so he was safe. He lifted his arms up above his head in a false yawn to try to pass off the tears as the product of exhaustion and not effeminate sensitivities. It would have worked out well – he could have put his arms down around her and squeezed her closer, maybe place a gentle kiss on her forehead and encourage her to snuggle against him.. Except, he didn't, because Zelynity had decided to make this weird move from sitting upright to laying on his lap, he guessed, except she was falling and oh, Goddess. “Zell, what in the--?!” He cried in a mix of surprise and concern as he tried to catch her, but the amount of space between his knightly arms and his damsel in distress was too much for him to manage that. Instead, he jerked forward only to fall onto her and crush her which was the opposite of saving, what the heck?! He winced as he pushed himself up, moving off her in a quick scramble, but staying close enough so he could examine her, “Zell?! Zell, are you okay? Goddess dammit--”
He picked her up in a rush and darted out of the living room, hurrying down the hall and being just so relieved that he still remembered how to get around Zell's house from all those late night slumber parties. He located the bathroom, gently set Zell in the shower, and turned on the water. “How many fingers am I holding up?” He asked in as calm a voice as he could as he thrust all five of his fingers at her face because that is what people did with those that might have a concussion, right? The water kept them awake and the fingers made sure they didn't have brain damage or something.

Sure, the floor wasn't all that comfortable, but it wasn't that far of a drop either. Her pride was really the only thing that had been injured here. That was until Jacob fell onto her. The pressure from the body slam had knocked the air out of her. She was trying to gasp for air and tell him to just back the hell up because damn she no longer felt very safe. Then he lifted her into his arms. Somehow this was not nearly as comforting as it had been the first time he had lifted her tonight. Where were they even going? She wasn't quite sure that she could fight back too much when everything was just a little dizzy, so she was laying back and staring up at the ceiling. Oh gosh. Was he going to take advantage of her? Was that this whole big plan? Hope to knock her slightly unconscious and then take her back to her room to fill his own desires? What if it were even worse? What if he had planned to take her back to her room to kill her? No, that couldn't be it. He had no way of knowing that she would've fallen on the ground. Or did he... Maybe she was pushed! Oh no. Oh no. The criminal was holding her in his arms. His big, strong, great arms. No! She couldn't let her mind trail there. He was the enemy.
A switch had been turned on in her head and she was instantly in survival mode. She lifted her head to see where they had wound up only to catch a glimpse of the bathroom before being tossed into the shower. When the water came on, she brought her hands instinctively to her face, fearing that he was trying to scorch her. Her face was probably the only thing keeping him so friendly up until now! If he were able to melt off her beauty, he wouldn't have any remorse while hacking her to bits. Once she was certain that the water wasn't going to do her any real harm, she peeked around her fingers to see his hand. What? What was he even asking? Did he need to make sure that she was properly disoriented before he could take full advantage of this opportunity? Well, he was in for a rude awakening! She was not going to go down without a fight.
Zelynity quickly extended her arm to push him back and tried to grip as best she could at the side of the shower. Why did he have to turn the damn water on?! It was like he knew that she wouldn't be able to stand back up... oh goddess! This was all just part of his master plan! Once she had finally made it to her feet, she stripped off her robe and tossed it over his head. That way he couldn't possibly see as she made a mad dash down the hall. "I know what you're trying to do, Jacob. You came here to swoon me into a false sense of security. And then... and then you attacked me!" She had stopped just out of reach around the corner to yell at him, trying to fight back the tears as she said it out loud. She trusted him. A part of her wanted to turn around and hug him and say that she was sorry for even thinking that he could do this. They had been friends for so long. How was it possible that he would just turn on her? Maybe she hit her head a little too hard. Or maybe his plan was really working! With her head held high, she started walking back towards her room again, hoping that her soaked robe was enough to keep him stalled before she could lock the door. She couldn't trust that monster. Not after what he did to her.

Well, it looked like Jacob wasn't going to spend the night. The man had watched Zell run out of the bathroom with a look of complete shock because what the actual ********, Jacob? He finally gets a hot chick to like him enough to go out with him and then he has to ruin it?! Now she thought he was a rapist or murderer or whatever she was implying, Jacob was too busy being stunned by his own stupidity to actually notice. Of course she would freak out! Any woman would be scared if a big guy like him just whisked them off to the bathroom and sprayed them with cold water! He wasn't sure what he was thinking before – well, he was sure, but it still didn't make much sense in hindsight, even if it was done out of concern. He rubbed his temples as he listened to her hurried footsteps dash down the hall and probably into the safety of her bedroom. He hadn't even bothered to pull the robe off from over his head, finding a little security in it as all he wanted to do at that moment was run home and pull the covers over his head like he was ten again.
But, then he remembered what she said. 'Swoon'. He 'swooned' her. This was a highly inappropriate time to feel a little confidence boost at that admission, considering what the rest of that statement had implied, but.. Hey, maybe he had a chance still? He pulled the robe off of his head and folded it neatly, setting it on top of the toilet as he debated on what he should do. He didn't want to scare her off or anything, but he couldn't really expect them to be a thing still if he just left without saying anything. It would be like saying, 'Haha, you were right all along! Curses, my evil plan didn't work out the way I wanted it to! See you at church, doll face!' He cleared his throat and tried to make his manly steps seem softer as he slowly headed down the hallway, making it to Zell's room and trying the door to check if it was locked.
..Yeah, rattling the doorknob totally wasn't a horror movie scene come to life. He winced and withdrew his hand, raising his voice to try to shout through the door, “Zell? Awe, come on, Zell, this is stupid! You've known me for years! If I wanted to 'attack' you, then I would have done it when we – uh.” He glanced down the hall – okay, no one here, he could admit it aloud. Just this once. “..Don't you think I would have done it during our sleepovers? Or all the other times you were alone with me?”

Zelynity had successfully managed to lock her bedroom door just in time to crumble to the ground in front of it. In all of the movies she had seen (where someone had such a horrible revelation), she never really felt like it would be like this. This was just plain awful. She pressed her head back against the door and squeezed her arms around her knees. It felt like she had been stabbed right in her heart and--- dammit there were the water works. She wiped her forearm against her face before just giving up and planting her head forward to allow her tears to fall. How could someone she had spent so much time on be this horrible of a person? Was she really that blinded by lust? It just didn't seem possible that she could've so easily overlooked something this big. How could she ever return to work?! No one would want to listen to a private investigator that couldn't even figure out that she was (literally) sleeping with the enemy. Jacob was probably the mastermind behind that whole stupid kidnapping. It all seemed so obvious looking back. He always had so much to hide. She should've known. She was the one that always spilled her heart to him. He just sat there and listened. Oh how foolish she had been! She thought he genuinely wanted to listen to her feelings. That had even been one of his better qualities.
She brought her head back up and wiped at her cheeks when she heard him walk down the hall. She jolted upwards at the sound of him testing the door knob. It was stupid of her to believe that a locked door would give her enough time to just sit there and allow her emotions to take over. She needed to woman up and stop crying over this pathetic a**. She cleared her throat and wiped at her eyes one final time. She stared at the door, thinking of all sorts of things that she could say to him. All of the hurt that she was feeling was quickly turning to rage and she really wanted to let him have it. Her mouth opened, ready to scream at him, but he beat her to it. His words seemed meaningless. How could he stoop so low as to call her stupid? But then, he began to make sense. There were plenty of opportunities for him to attack and he hadn't. Maybe he had just been biding his time? Yeah, probably. He was just thinking on his feet now and coming up with some sort of story to lull her out and then he'd strike. Oh, she was not going to play that game.
There was little that fighting through a door could get her. Plus, she had become pretty great at reading people's faces. So, she decided it best to open the door just enough to be able to fully see his face. She left her hand on the doorknob if at any point he tried some funny business. A strange mixture of hatred and sadness swept over her once the door was open enough for her to look at him. There were so many things that she wanted to say, but there was one question that she really needed the answer to. "How do I know this isn't another lie?"
