Home of Haruka, Raiden and Axel. A small brick house downtown, in the midst of everything. Raiden and Haruka each spend far too much money on trivial things instead of ever fixing up the little house, so it remains pretty much exactly as it did the day the two Niami's bought it, with the addition of a TV and a few more paintings on the walls. From the outside, the house doesn't look very promising, but on the inside it's very elegant and charming.
Raiden and Haruka's Bedroom Raiden and Haruka's room is plain and conservative. The walls are a dark blue and bed set brown. He has lots of his sister's artwork framed behind the wall adjacent to his headboard. He's a little superstitious and somehow feels that they protect him while he sleeps.
Axel's Bedroom Zelynity was glad to give her room up to her little nephew, and even happier to receive the honor of painting it. The room is very simple and has many toys around as well as a place for mommy or daddy to sit when Axel is refuses bedtime.
Kitchen The kitchen, bar style and rather large. Fully equipped with appliances of all sorts. The chairs seem to be rather old and the bar is a granite top. It doesn't see much cooking, but they do often gather around for takeout.
Living Room The living room, very old-fashioned with a long coffee table and sofas facing each other with chairs randomly around the room. They have a little TV placed in the corner that Raiden plays his video games on. The room has an abundance of mirrors on every wall, which should have been taken down long ago but have now just stuck. The kitchen and living room are connected.
Bathroom The bathroom, singular, which doesn't work so well for Raiden. However, it was much, much worse when he had two girls to battle over the bathroom with. There's a nice garden tub, two sinks, and, of course, a toilet. Not much to it.

The last stop of the night was one Axel Niami! Not only was he born on the island, but he had a personality that she liked a lot! It was like hers, only he couldn't fly, which she was sure made a huuuge difference. Zooming right into the Niami household, Daffodil made sure the coast was clear of any cats before going straight to Axel's bedroom. It was so biiig with so much room to plaaay! She flew around the room in circles a few times before settling down in the middle of the room and conjuring up Axel's gift, a big blue box! The box was filled with candy of all varieties, which his parents would probably love, because what did hyperactive kids need more than even more sugar?! On top of the candy was a stuffed giraffe toy, all yellow and plush, its neck long and neck-like~ After taking a few more laps around the bedroom, Daffodil disappeared back into the night. Another successful Stocking Day completed!

Carnation wasn't going to go as far as to say that she saved the best for last, but she did save a pretty good family for last. Raiden and Haruka had both been great over the years and the fact that they had joined together had almost brought Carnation to tears. Or maybe it did. She wasn't quite sure what that would really feel like. She'd have to ask one of her subordinates. For now, she needed to get into this old familiar house and deliver some well deserved gifts. Oh how she hoped that little Axel would grow up to be just as passionate as his parents were. How great would it be to have a trifecta in one home? She couldn't recall ever having one of those before! She zoomed on back to the parent's bedroom and over to Haruka's side of the bed. Carnation sure was proud of Haruka! She was juggling being a mom, a girlfriend, worker and a good ole friend very well. That date that they had gone on was pretty hilarious and all the festivals! What more could one fairy ask for? Hmm... maybe a visit? They could bring Axel and get him well acquainted with the place. How did that old saying go? Take a baby to only festivals, risk raising a loser. Take a baby to the hot springs, maybe have a hair stylist or a... boozer. Okay, so what if they weren't the best of role models? That's exactly why they were living great lives. She placed a pumpkin pie candle on the table along with a letter addressed to Haruka Koyama.
Carnation spun around and flew over to the other side of the bed where she smiled down at Raiden. He was still trying and had kept a good thing going with Haruka. Sure, it would be a tad more interesting if he had other women, but she'd settle for a steady relationship with one with such passion! She hoped that he would keep up the good work and try to jump a little more outside of the box. There was always room for improvement! Perhaps when he visited the hot springs they could talk about ways that he could improve! She smiled at the thought and dropped a box containing marble white rocks and blue velvet sand. Next to this was an envelope with a letter addressed to Raiden Niami and the remainder of her lava cake, which was hardly the size of a bite. Oh finally! Stocking Day was over and she could relax her wings in the hot spring before getting up bright and early and getting her workout in! She zoomed out of the house and back towards her paradise.

The house felt eerily quiet as Haruka did dishes, the only sounds coming from the faucet and the dishes clinking in the sink. How long had it been since Nanami had offered to take Axel off their hands for an evening? She wanted to say that he had been in diapers at the time, but that couldn't be right. In any case, for twenty-four hours they were child-free, and while Haruka was personally glad to be able to stand in her kitchen without having to listen for any crashes or bangs as Axel zoomed around the house, knocking over lamps and barreling his toy cars into the wall, she felt oddly at a loss. Part of the reason why she was even doing dishes in the first place -- a chore she had grown accustomed to leaving until the last moment in the hopes that Raiden would do it for her -- was because she needed to do something to take her mind of it. Axel was perfectly safe and happy at his grandmother's house, but Haruka couldn't help but worry when he spent the night there or at Zelynity's. What if something happened.
Haruka slipped off her gloves, the dishes finally done. Reaching up, she unclipped her hair, which she had pinned back to keep her hair out of her face, and checked her clothes for stray suds. Deeming herself presentable, she made her way from the kitchen to the living room. "Dinner is eaten, laundry is done, dishes are clean, someone else is putting the baby to bed," she announced as she made her way to flop onto the couch. "Is this what a night off feels like?" Running her hand through her hair, she closed her eyes for a moment -- then opened them when that moment had passed. "Raiden?"

It was sometimes quite strange how two parents, even in the same house, could have such different parenting strategies. While Haruka was typically concerned when Axel was gone, Raiden was usually extremely relieved. After all, if the kid wasn't under his supervision, he was probably a lot safer. There were the times when he used to feel worried about Zelynity, but she turned out to have decent motherly instincts, so that was fine. He had always felt relieved, however, when Nanami offered to take Axel. She had raised Haruka, and Haruka had a brother, right? Yeah, that seemed right. She had raised some pretty good kids, so she probably still knew what she was doing. Currently, Raiden had his leg tucked under himself and was reading an article about some new video game that he'd probably toss an absurd amount of money at in the near future. The nice sounds of clean dishes could be heard from the kitchen, relieving him of that duty for the week. Their system of ignoring the fact that they had dishes sometimes didn't work out all too well, but justice was found this day.
He had hardly noticed the change in sound as Haruka appeared next to him. These graphics simply looked so much better than the previous installment and he couldn't imagine not being able to play this game any longer. He jolted upright when he heard her talking next to him, dropping his leg quickly to the ground. "Oh, Haruka. I didn't realize that you were done already." He folded the top corner of the page before placing the magazine on the table. His hands instinctively reached out for her. "You know, I think you're your sexiest when you smell like dish soap." He said, trying to contain his laughter. He wrapped his arm around to her other side and carefully turned her. He didn't want to man handle her and turn this nice little gesture into something horrific, so he moved with utmost care. He then began rubbing at her shoulders, once he could successfully reach them both. "It is pretty quiet without him, huh?" It seemed like a good idea to continue the conversation slightly elsewhere or else he might burst into laughter.

They had been together long enough for Haruka to know that Raiden got a little too into his video game stuff -- she didn't quite understand it, but she reminded herself that it was better to be with someone who had passions and interests instead of just staring at the wall like a lump. Shaking her head so slightly it was barely detectable, she let him rub her shoulders for a moment before swatting him away. "Oh, shut up," she said in good humor. With a small sigh, she readjusted herself so her head was resting on his shoulder. It really was quiet here, without the kid. Even before Axel was born, it was never quite this silent. "This is what it's going to be like from now on, isn't it?" she asked the air, taking one of Raiden's hands to play with his fingers. "He's in school now, soon he'll be going to spend the night at friends' houses, camp, err... other kid stuff. What do they normally do?" she joked briefly with a smile. She had never been to a sleepover or camp when she was a kid, though her mom had once proposed the idea of setting up a tent in the backyard -- and was promptly shot down by a nine year old Haruka who had no interest whatsoever in sleeping outside where there were bugs and dirt. "He's really growing up, isn't he? And I feel older than I ever have," she chuckled softly. "You must feel ancient," she teased, reaching up with her free hand to poke at Raiden's face. Even though it was eerily quiet and Haruka felt like something was missing, it was nice to be able to sit together on the couch without interruption or distraction. Funny to think she used to take those sorts of things for granted.

Raiden dropped his hands into his lap and slumped back against the couch with a smile as he was swatted away. When Haruka relaxed into him, he allowed his head to fall back against the cushion. He wasn't entirely sure where all of this stuff Haruka was spouting off about was coming from. How long had she felt like this? Oh goddess, was it him? Should he have done the dishes? No, that was silly. She had never been one to care about those sorts of things. He shrugged it off, assuming she had just had a bad day or something. The touch of her hand on his felt very soothing and his eyes began to shut. "Soon he'll be drinking and next thing you know we'll be grandparents." He smiled. Okay, so maybe that wasn't the best thing to say to someone who didn't seem to be in very high spirits. His eyes sprung open as she touched his face. He really hoped that she hadn't thought he was dozing off on her.
He shifted to place his cheek on the top of her head. "You know, Ru. We are kind of old. We hardly even have Axel needing us anymore to make us feel young. Now we have all of this time to sit around and wait until we turn into dust." Goddess, this was getting really depressing. No wonder Haruka had seemed down. Anyone would be with all of this weighing them down.

Haruka grimaced as Raiden spoke, wondering briefly how she had ended up with someone who somehow managed to say all the worst things when she was feeling most vulnerable. It was like a talent of his. "Don't say that, we're not that old," she quickly protested, contradicting all that she had said before. Okay, so she was having a harder time concealing her wrinkles and she was finding herself standing in front of the mirror frowning at what she saw more often than usual (there was a fine line between model's physique and bony old lady, she was discovering), but she was still thirty--err--forty-one? Oh jeez, don't think about that. In any case, she was barely middle-aged, that should count for something! "We won't be grandparents for a long time..." her voice trailed off as she began to wonder. How old was her mother when she had become a grandmother? Fifty? Haruka herself wasn't as far away from fifty as she would have liked to be. She tried to reassure herself that Axel was still only five, that she herself had had a baby when she was in her mid-thirties and he was still thirty years away from that, but then she remembered that Nanami had barely been fifteen when she had her first and only child, and that was less than a decade away for Axel, and...
"I'll go crazy," Haruka announced. "Sitting around and waiting until we turn into dust... Is that it for our lives?" This conversation was taking a dark and rather desperate turn, but it was like she was unloading all of the insecurities and doubts she had been too busy to confess before. "Maybe not for you, Raiden, you can always go off and marry some French twenty year old with naturally blonde hair and perky breasts, but I don't have that option." She let out a sigh and leaned against him some more. "This might be my last chance..."

A smirk crossed Raiden's face as Haruka spoke. She was clearly having some trouble dealing with all of this stuff, while he was taking it all in stride. He supposed it was a woman's desire to stay youthful, but he never really understood it. He always thought that age was beautiful, though that wasn't very relevant in swooping her up at such a young age. His first real crush had been on one of his mom's friends, though. His own face had begun to wrinkle, and it had never really affected him. Haruka hadn't ever really seemed the type to worry about that, but maybe she was just good at hiding her insecurities. He should probably stop teasing her about being old then. Ah, who was he kidding? That was practically more reason to tease her. "Really, though. How long does it feel like we've been together?" This time, it wasn't that he was trying to trick her into telling him the real number (even if he still didn't really know). "It doesn't feel like very long for me and kids are having them so young these days." It had been a joke, but he was quickly convincing himself that they needed to start stockpiling diapers.
He wasn't really expecting to laugh after these harsh realizations, but he did when she spoke again. "Damn. I thought I would be turning to dust before you, but if I can get a french blonde with nice tits... I better start taking better care of myself. I'll look at a picture of a hot babe every time I want to smoke." He shifted his head back to resting on the couch in fear of shaking her head up with his laughter. "Hey, it's not so bad." He lifted his hand to brush at her hair. "We could always have another kid if you wanted. Maybe another boy to keep you running and feeling young? Or what about a girl who desperately needs her hair braided?" He wasn't sure if he had really meant it at first, but saying it out loud kind of sounded nice. Oh, but it had been so much work. Should they even be trying it? They had just made it through most of the hard part with Axel. How dumb would they have to be to start all over? ...but maybe that's what Haruka needed. He'd be on diaper duty for eternity if he never had to have this talk ever again.

"Don't be stupid," Haruka replied almost immediately. "Didn't we swear having a kid was a one time thing?" It had sort of been her mantra when Axel was at his most difficult. It had been comforting in a strange way to tell herself that she wouldn't have to do it again once Axel grew out of it. They couldn't have another kid! The one they had already had tugged at her patience and sanity enough for two. But... "...He was pretty cute when he was tiny..." she admitted in a low voice, as if admitting that her own baby was cute was some sort of revolutionary statement. "With the blue eyes and red hair..." All of a sudden she was remembering all of the not-so-terrible stuff, like how soft his face was, and when he'd laugh with joy when she walked into the room sometimes, and the smell of his head... No no no, she couldn't do this, focus on the negatives! Changing diapers! Crying in the middle of the night! All the broken lamps! "Could you imagine another little boy with that red hair? Or a girl, with pigtails?" No, no, she could feel herself slipping. The fantasy was too nice to ignore. "Axel would have someone to look out for. He would be a good big brother... don't you think?" He was way too energetic, but his heart was always in the right place. She was picturing him playing outside with a brother, holding the hand of a sister as they walked to school...
Then another image popped into her head, this time a little less charming. She saw a clock, and beneath it her eggs were getting shot out of a cannon, one by one. Once the pile had seemed endless, but there were only a few left by now. All of a sudden, Haruka felt a little panicked. It's true, they weren't getting any younger, the window of opportunity to have another kid was getting smaller and smaller and in a couple years it would be firmly shut. Sure, they could always adopt, but what was even the point in that? She sat up where she was sitting, so she was no longer leaning against her boyfriend. "What if... we have another...?"

Had he ever swore to only having one kid? He recalled Haruka often saying it when something new had been broken, but he had often just laughed at her comments as he ran off to go find the little culprit. "I don't know. I don't think it'd be so bad. We've made it through all of the hard parts once." Raiden was kind of shocked at how invested he had quickly become in championing this cause. Maybe she wasn't the only one that had grown tired of the silence around the house. He began curling a strand of Haruka's hair around his finger. "It'd be easy this time. All the cute with half the hassle." He smiled, thinking back to how cute Axel had been. Sure, it was scary at first, but that was because they had no idea what they were doing. They hadn't killed him or really even injured him much, even if they had a few close calls. They had made it through all of it together. "Maybe I'd let you dye my hair red to make us a matching pair." That hair was nice, especially mixed with those big blue eyes. His mind was racing with all of the possibilities. He'd need to start making a chart of their family eye and hair colors.
He dropped his hand to reach for hers, "I think it'd be good for all of us. Great, even." They might need a bigger house. A backyard able to hold a big play set would be nice. Axel was old enough to start enjoying something like that now, and he could just see him pushing a sister in the swing or racing a brother up the ladder the wrong way. When she asked, he felt his heart leap up. It was almost like a proposal or something. The thought that had just sounded so nice seemed really daunting now. Saying it out loud all formal like that just made it seem so real. He looked over at her, with a smile. "Do you think I'm stupid? I'm not going to turn down a chance to ...be with you more often." Even if a baby schedule wasn't the most romantic thing ever, he certainly wouldn't be complaining.

Haruka didn't really believe most of what Raiden was saying, because the logic part of her brain was tugging at her attention and whispering lots of what-ifs into her ear. But the panicked part of her brain was giving its own share of what-ifs, and its what-ifs were a lot more alarming than anything the logical side could come up with. She knew that another kid could have completely different problems than Axel, and that they were old and that would make it even harder -- she didn't want to think about how old she'd be when a potential second kid graduated high school -- but she didn't want to admit any of this out loud. She was, as she had done her whole life, stubbornly denying and defying her age. "You're not stupid," she shook her head. "The matching hair idea was stupid -- though you did look nice with that reddish hair you had when we first got together -- but the idea was stupid, you're not." She turned her body so now she was facing Raiden, though she had some trouble looking him dead in the eyes; she was feeling a lot of the same things as he was, like the sense that this all felt so much more formal and heavy said aloud. But was that really a reason to avoid it if they both wanted it? "It would cost even more money," she began in a warning voice, probably going the most unsexy route in response to his 'be with you' comment. "And it would be hard. We would have to start buying diapers again." That alone was almost enough to make Haruka shiver and pretend like the whole thing was a joke. "But... we're much more prepared now than we were when I was pregnant with Axel. So I think we could do it... If we wanted to. ...Do you want to? Really want to?" All of a sudden she felt like she was eighteen again, sitting in her mother's office while she painted her nails, trying very hard to get a reading on the cute receptionist without, you know, actually asking directly.

Raiden scoffed and placed his arm on the back of the couch. His idea was so not stupid. How cute would a family photo be if they all had varying shades of red hair? The fantasy quickly shifted to matching Harvest Festival costumes. The kids could be pumpkins! That was unisex enough and it could still be fun. There were plenty of matching themes they could go with or or orrrr they could just start dying Axel's hair and they could be a rainbow. Would it be bad for him to ask Haruka if she'd like her hair to be pink or green? He was really considering it when she mentioned money and he was jolted back to reality. It was times like these that made him really, really wonder if Haruka was psychic or something. Fortunately, he always came back to the conclusion that her presence meant she wasn't really psychic. Then again, maybe it meant that she was up for some of the weirder things he had thought about? Oh, right. Money. "A lot of money. How long can the four of us live in this small house? What if it's a girl? She can't share a room with Axel for too long. What if there's more than one?" The thought had never occurred to him, but it could happen. "Knock on wood." He reached out quickly to knock on the table. That would be awful. Not that he wouldn't welcome two kids, just not both at once.
Bringing his hands into his lap, he continued, "I don't think I'd mind diapers so much this time. I think I've pretty much seen all there is to see." This had quickly become one of the top five least sexy conversation they had ever had. "We're much more prepared." He nodded, repeating what she had said. Though, he wasn't quite sure what to say to the next part. Did he want to? Did he really want to? "Do you really want to?" Yes. Deflecting the question back to her was probably the best option.

The amount of semi-panic swirling around in her head was almost too much for Haruka to understand. She was having her own fears about getting older and was fighting back the impulse to conceive a kid right now, and then the idea of having to get a new house... "...It'd be sad to let this house go, but..." she began slowly, unable to believe that she was actually defending the idea of moving and buying more diapers and the messed up sleep patterns and the stress and the first smile and cute clothes and maybe having a daughter like her mom had had a daughter and... "Maybe that would be what our family needs? Something bigger? Something ours?" As much as she liked Raiden's caring and loving big brother side, it had always been a little weird to live in a house that still had such a Zelynity touch to it. Plus, their closet was pretty stuffed, and her own bathroom -- at least a bathroom separate from the kids. She wanted to be able to relax in a bathtub that didn't have plastic dinosaurs in it. Besides, if this was Raiden's way of saying he'd change the diapers...
"I asked you," she sighed at his deflection. They were both good at that, they could go on forever just pushing the question onto the other person. Haruka wasn't a big fan of speaking first. Maybe that was why it had taken them so long to get together, and probably why they had never gotten married even though she had had her wedding dress picked out since she was eleven. (She'd never be able to afford it, but it meant that she wasn't entirely uninterested in getting married.) "...But fine. ...Yeah. I think... I want to." She felt much more confident once it was out of her mouth. "This would be our last chance to have another, and I don't want to have any regrets, so... Yes, I want to."

Nostalgia and sentimentality quickly overcame Raiden as they continued talking. When he had first mentioned it, he didn't really think about how much this house had meant to him. He had lived here ever since he first came to Nirvani. He put his whole life's savings into getting this house and had continued to fill it up with various things over the years. It was home, but Haruka was right. It never really felt like it was theirs. He had plenty of memories with Zelynity and ...others here, but they needed somewhere to make their own memories. He had never really thought about how she would feel trying to make a home out of a house with so many reminders of someone else. Even though change was something he despised, he would do it for his family. He wasn't just a brother anymore, and it was time to put that on the back burner of his life. He was a father and a boyfriend now, and his house should reflect that. He'd have to start looking into some local real estate. Did they have an agent for that? Who had he even talked to when he first arrived? Goddess, that was so long ago.
He nodded his head as she spoke, even though he had checked out a little. It was hard to bring his attention back to the conversation with so much running through his mind, but he managed to hear her say she wanted to try. "So it shall be." He smiled over at her. "We've got a lot of preparing and planning to do. This won't be as romantic as it had been the first time, but there won't be a terrifying surprise either." How long did kids take to make again? Did they even have enough time to move into a new house? Should he get up and start making calls now? To think, he had started off this day with his mind at ease.
