 Xanthophycea was moving very slowly indeed, his nose pressed almost to the ground as he walked. He was looking for something, a flower that he had longed for. Or well, he thought it was a flower. It had a lovely name, and a lovely presence. It was said to be abundant. He was looking for some kind of flowery plant with green and maybe some white. It grew as a ground cover. And he'd heard lots of thing about it, it cured itches and bee stings. It warded off evil. It was the best gift to give a mare. He had no idea if any of those were true or not, and he was here to find out. Because he had to find out, he just well...needed to.

"Oooh what a lovely day. So very lovely indeed! Just look at my beautiful darlings oh so happy to see me!" Juniper's mouth seemed to move a mile a minute as she pranced through the little meadow she called home.
"Hello to you, and you, and you and you and you!" She sang to each and every flower that seemed to greet their exuberant caretaker with a wind-blown wave.
It really was quite a beautiful day. The sun was shining. The wind was cool and fresh. It blew her long green braid, and she let out a happy sigh. Life was good!

Xanthophycea stood there trying to remember the name of the flowering substance, but it kept alluding him. It was green and not really flowery, but it was pretty. Sometimes you crushed it for smell, and it started with a J...
He stood there thinking and thinking, try to puzzle out what on earth the name could be. Then it hit him like a ton of bricks, and he couldn't stop himself from shouting, "Juniper!"

June froze in the middle of her humming. Her ear twitched and she turned to see a white and brown mini stallion with green glowing parts at the edge of her meadow. Why had he shouted her name? He was an odd one.
"Um, hi there. Do I know you? I don't think I do, but you yelled my name so uh I guess you know me," she blinked. "How do you know me?"
She was pretty sure she'd remember meeting the male with the glowing markings that were her favorite color. But she was always forgetting things, so who knows - maybe she did know him.

Xanthophyceae jumped about a foot straight up in the air at the sound of her voice. His heart raced, he'd thought he was alone. He looked at her, his face flushed and confused. "I didn't call your name did I?" He tilted his head to look at her again.
"I'm sure I don't know you, or well....wait..." The pieces slowly started falling together and he blushed even harder. "Is your name Juniper?"

June tried to stifle her giggles when he jumped. She hadn't meant to spook him! She stared at him curiously when he asked if her name was Juniper.
"Of course my name is Juniper," she laughed. "Why else would I answer you? I mean, why else would you yell out 'Juniper' if you hadn't wanted my attention?" This was definitely an odd one. Perhaps he had memory problems? She silently pondered on this possibility.

Xan blushed crimson. "It's a pretty name, but how would I have known it was yours?" He ducked his head again. "I was looking at some flowers, and I saw this pretty green flowering thing and I was trying to remember the name. Then it came to me all of a sudden, and I shouted it. I didn't mean to, but I did. Then you answered." He blushed again, tripping over his tongue with the words and speaking them very fast. He glanced back up at her and blushed again. "I'm Xanthophyceaa, but you can call me Xan."

Flowers. The word bounced around in June's head and did elaborate flips and twists.
"Flowers" she breathed. "Do you like flowers?! I-I live in a meadow - there are tons of flowers here. I love flowers. I sing to them and talk to them and I swear they listen. I mean they don't talk back but I don't think they speak my language," She took a breath. "You have quite the long name - it sounds exotic! I like it! But I think I'll call you Xan because my tongue gets twisted around big words and names," June paused and shuffled her hooves a bit. "I'm sorry... am I talking too much? It's kind of a habit,"
She hoped she wouldn't frighten Xan away. She hadn't come across another friendly face in quite sometime - let alone one that had an interest in flowers like she did. Nyx Queen of Darkness Sorry for taking so long! D:

"No, it's fine. I like it," he felt himself blushing again. He scuffed his foot in the grass then tried to make himself stand still. "Flowers are amazing. I think they do speak a language. It's a code of genetic chains--" He paused. "That's probably boring."
He glanced at his hooves again, "So do you come here often?" That was dumb, so dumb to ask, he thought. Why hadn't he said something smarter?
