Nevada had stayed in the pod room, with a makeshift bed next to her sister. she was scared of her room where so much had gone on. An amazing night with Tuck had turned into a nightmare day with Roland...and ended up with her getting hit as a consequence.

She had never been hit before. Not even by her dad. He had raised his voice, he had threatened inanimate objects but never had once raised a hand to her.

To be hit, by surprise by Roland had surprised herself. She had been rash, had pushed him and felt that perhaps she even deserved it. So instead of staying the room where she was reminded of it, she had kept Alaska's pod company, even talking to her sister and being met with silence.

It had only been by chance to check twitter that she had saw Tuck had gone to the infirmary...and she didn't really pay attention to put him there. Worried it had been Roland, she left the pod room and straight to Tuck's door.

"Hey...Handsome...you in there?" She knocked on the door gently, her voice softly calling out.

Tuck had only just made it back to his room, and he was in a foul, foul mood. There was pain, so much pain, and Herryk was still working on mending the wound, knitting it together from the inside out. Everything ached with such a precise, acute agony that Tuck could hardly see straight.

He heard the knock at his door, heard the voice that called out for him, and it took everything he could manage to swing his legs around to the floor so that he could heft himself up onto his feet.

Tuck opened the door but turned away from the brighter light of the hallway before he could get a look at Nevada - whether or not she caught sight of the bloodied shirt he wore or the stitched gash on his face, Tuck didn't know.

He wasn't in the mood for company, but he wasn't going to deny Nevada access to his room if she wanted in.

Nevada steeled herself for distance and instead...was met with a very much angry and injured man. He faced away from bright light, but she could see the damaged done. Stitches marred beautiful dark skin and it took all her willpower not to leave to find Roland and show him that he had gone to far.

But she was jumping ahead, and right now....she at least needed to take care of him in some way.

"Sorry handsome, If I had some advil I'd offer it." She tilted her chin up to offer him a smile, but it pained her cheek to do so fully. She entered the room and shut the door behind her so that he didn't have to be pained by the light anymore. "Roland...didn't do this to you did he?"

"Roland?" Tuck's voice was muffled and rough, though there was the slightest hint of wry humor. The way Tuck forced the word past his lips made it clear that he was in pain.

"Nah. We," Tuck swallowed and turned to face Nevada, crossing thick arms over his broad chest, "fought, but.."

He trailed off, finally noticing the bruise against Nevada's cheek, despite the dim light. Tuck's brows knit in question, and he took the few steps necessary to bring himself closer to her. He lifted a hand, his fingers grasping her chin.

He didn't say a word, but the question was bright in his eyes.

Who? What?

Nevada made a small sound of relief, knowing that Roland hadn't found out it was Tuck yet. "okay...Okay that's good." She blinked and her head turned just a bit, wondering what he was going to finish saying.

"You guys fought though? But it wasn't Roland who did this too you." She was very confused. and then he was holding her chin and she felt the shame of everything weighing down on her.

She could see the question and then...sighed. Making no move to push his hand away.

"He found out. Looks like you got a bit excited and left a kiss mark on my neck where my hair didn't hide it." She closed her eyes, "And we fought...and I said things that made him angry. I don't think he meant to but...he summoned his weapon and...got carried away. It just got me and Leroy by surprise...which is why it isn't really healed." She reached up to touch it. "It's no big deal, Yours looks a lot worse than mine." She offered him a smile again, eyes opening to look at him. "What's the other guy look like?"

"Spar with Peyton," the Moon almost spat.

Tuck released her chin and strode away from Nevada, his entire body tense with unspeakable rage. He wanted to punch someone, find Roland and turn his face into paste. Herryk was writhing with rage on his own, finding the act of hitting a female just as disgusting as Tuck did. If there was one rule that Tuck held above all others, something instilled in him since he was a child - it was that you didn't lash out at someone - especially women - in anger.

This was his fault. He'd pushed her, he'd sought something she'd wanted to give, but he'd had no right to take it from her. No right to cause these problems.

Tuck started pacing the room.

"S'my fault."

"The new sun?" She blinked and then held back from chuckling because that woman was the exact opposite of Tuck. Small, petite and apparently very strong.

She watched as he strode away and laced her fingers. There was no way to turn this into a comforting situation and no way to really ease anger. She had boiled and she had cried and she had come to the conclusion that she deserved it.

What she said would scar Roland more than the bruise on her cheek that would fade later in the week.

"It's not your fault." This time she did come over to rest her hand on his. "I didn't give you anything I didn't want to, and knew what consequences would come from it. I'm surprised that...he hit me and the words I told him...I probably deserved it...But my weapon will heal it and it won't be there anymore. And I won't see him again because I won't...go near him. It's just me and Alaska now so..." She faltered at smiling at him again, "I'm sorry though...You don't need this coming to the Island."

She moved back. "I came to check up on you though...I was scared Roland might come over and attack you over it. I don't...want you guys to fight over this..."

Tuck nodded and rolled his eyes in regards to Nevada's first ******** Suns," he gritted out, voice rough with annoyance.

She could tell him how much it wasn't his fault until the cows came home, but Tuck couldn't - and wouldn't - let Nevada shoulder all of the blame. He was a grown a** man, he knew that getting involved with Nevada would hurt someone in the end - he just hadn't thought that it would hurt a woman-hitting violent little cocksucker. Ro hadn't seemed the type when they'd sparred, but maybe Tuck was getting lax in his judgement of people.

It <******** infuriated him when Nevada said she'd deserved it, and Tuck immediately spun on his heel with Hell in his eyes, his expression twisted. It hurt like a ******** to talk, but Tuck needed to make a few things perfectly ******** clear to Nevada. His long stride ate up the short distance between them - he wasn't letting her leave just yet, and he sure as hell wasn't letting her back away from him - and soon enough Tuck was standing almost on top of the small woman, bruised face tense and full of an indiscernible amount of pure, raw, utter rage.

"One," he ground out, breathing heavy and nostrils flared, "you ain't takin' all th'blame. Two, you ain't takin' all th'blame, an' ********' three," Tuck was trembling with a barely suppressed violence, "an' you listen t'me real good, Nevada, real good, you did not deserve this. Get it real straight. No real man - or woman, even - ********' hits someone like that."

His face hurt with a sharp, brilliant pain, but Tuck needed her to understand what he was trying to get across to her.

"You don't want me to go after him, I won't - an' it ain't just you and Alaska, now. You got me. I ain't goin' nowhere. An' if he wants to come after me? I ain't afraid of a woman-hitting little s**t."

It broke his heart, seeing her standing there in his room looking so small, and that bruise...

"Summon his weapon and hit you in the ******** face, Nevada. That's personal. That ain't right."

Nevada half expected for Tuck just accept that and then she could feel justified. She had warned him, anything that happened to either Roland or Tuck was on themselves....Not really, to see either of them get hurt because of her selfishness?

She started to back away when his figure loomed over her. She could practically feel the rage boiling over and it....well it scared her. Tuck was a nice guy...But so had Roland been. She almost expected after one hit that everyone would snap, this island practically seeped breaking violence. When all he did though was invade her space though, she held her hand up to push at his chest...just a little bit. A sort of acceptance of what he said.

She flushed almost with embarrassment, perhaps wondering if she should've phrased it different. In her head, she had wanted Roland to hate her...and she had accomplished that. he really hated her. And she reaped what she sowed from it.

"Tuck..." Her voice was quiet as she looked up at him. She was the type to care for people, and sex was always something she thought of as a very caring bond. His affirmation of him around made her feel weird. She had practically given up on Roland...why wouldn't she do it too Tuck to? Bonds. That was why. They had too much in common.

"I don't...I don't want you to go after him..." She nodded, her voice still small. "There's been enough violence.." She breathed in, looking up at him. "If he comes after you...I cannot stop that. I hope and I really hope he doesn't. It wasn't suppose to go this far." She bit her lip and regretted it only because of the soreness. "I wanted his anger to only be directed at me." And instead it was both Nevada...Alaska...and Tuck if Roland found out.

"But...You've said enough Tuck. I can see the pain on your face clear as daylight." She reached up to brush the stitches, "Why don't you go lay back down and I'll stick around until you sleep." Partly to make sure he did get to sleep and the other part so that she wasn't alone. Once he was asleep though, she'd go back to Alaska's pod and think. She reached to take his hands and kiss their knuckles. "You have such a big heart Handsome. Even with the amazing night we had...I wish I didn't get you involved like this."

He had more he wanted to say, so much more that he wanted to say, but the pain in his jaw and the pain on Nevada's face... it was all pretty overwhelming. When she reached up to brush his face with her fingers, Tuck turned his head to rub his closed lips against them. He didn't speak, merely watched her with a look of stark anger on his face, a look that slowly melted away when she kissed his knuckles.

He didn't release her hand when she spoke; instead, he waited until she was finished talking before gently tugging her towards the bed. Tuck sat and immediately tugged Nevada's petite form into his lap.

"We're friends, right. Promised. Ain't gonna let you deal," the pain was intense, but he ground his teeth and forced the words out, "with this 'lone. If he comes after me, ain't gonna fight him."

Tuck paused and pulled away from Nevada long enough to pull off the blood-stiffened shirt that clung to his chest before throwing it across the room.

"Told you, I'ma be whatever you need me t'be, Nevada. Frien' first. Lover f'you need me. Shoulder t'cry on." Tuck shook his head and gave an exhausted sigh as he blearily gazed at the Mist in his arms.

"Stay nex' to me til I fall asleep?"

Nevada froze at the brief intimate contact, she had given up Roland.....And any contact that might be even remotely familiar to that of close. Yet she didn't turn her hand away.

And then anger turned to something else, easing into something...she wasn't quite sure...She relaxed, putting herself into the mode of companionship and let herself be tugged by Tuck. The position of his lap was no different then the night before...except it felt safe...safe for the moment. Protected. She curled her small form around him.

"We're friends." She repeated. It warmed her, and oddly enough grounded her. "Friends are good to each other." She whispered. Her body shifted to accommodate him, when he removed his shirt, her faced flushed before melting back into its usual relaxed state. It wasn't like she had seen the man naked or anything. "I'll stay here till you sleep baby."She reached out, running her hand over to his head and resting her chin on his shoulder. "Fall asleep Tuck. Heal faster. Then we can work on being good friends...and lovers when/if you want to be." Though the second option was whispered, she made a small sound...followed by humming.

Something she did for Alaska when she wanted her twin to sleep. Something soft and smooth and soothing.

"That's right," he muttered, still feeling infuriated. It bothered him that it bothered her, though, and so Tuck forced himself to tamp those seething emotions down into something more tolerable. Something more bearable.

Something less homicidal.

Tuck slid back on the bed, maneuvering Nevada until she was tucked neatly against his chest. Her humming soothed him further. He hated sleep, hated thinking about the nightmares that waited, but... holding Nevada meant that there was hope the nightmares might be kept at bay.

Half-asleep, he tightened his arms around her and mumbled a soft, "I'd never hurt you," against her hair.

Soon enough he was lulled into a deep sleep by her soft and soothing hums.

Had the mist known about his nightmares, she would've stayed a bit longer. Her voice remained a soft lullaby as he drifted. At his small mumble, her face flushed with an unknown sort of feeling.

Comfort would've been the first, the second was too indistinguishable for the girl to tell so she left it for what he said. Never hurt her? It wasn't herself she was worried about. It was everyone else she came in contact with. Roland had been the first...how soon till she broke someone else by being involved with them?

"I'll try not to hurt you either Tuck." She whispered back, studying his form. She didn't move until she felt his breathing even out. Then she studied him...

Her mind process went through different variables. She had broken up with Roland for the sheer need to make him hate her, because she could never love him. That's what he wanted in the end, was someone to care and love him. The first she did offer...the second well...Until Alaska was awakened...she was already promised to be her twin's prince charming.

She shifted to slide out of his arms, but it was a tightening and the face he made that kept her there. He almost looked pained, and she assumed naively that it was from the wound on his face...when really it could be that...or it could be something else.

So instead of returning to Alaska's pod and thinking about where to go from where she was now...She thought about it in Tuck's embrace. And eventually she was lulled to sleep.

When he woke though, She wouldn't be there...regardless of spending the night. He might still a soft scent of her, a fading warmness but it would be the note on his desk that would be the most significant. Next to it was some water and painkillers at least approved by the labs. The cost was hefty but well..worth it to relieve him for just a moment.

If you ever need me handsome, you know where to find me. -Nevada

She was serious though, If he needed her for anything...anytime, she would be there.
