Soudul

Quote:
The land about you is dark and the only light is from the soon-setting darkened sun.

You heard in the market place or perhaps from gossip among your peers that a special herb grew along the banks of Lake Koralifel. The Oblivionite Mages prized it for its dark and powerful properties, claiming that spells and potions made with the herb were much stronger. The problem is, no one ever described the herb. All you overheard was that you would "know it when you see it"; and with that you left to go out and seek it yourself! All you know is that it dwells mostly on the Western banks of Koralifel and that it is easiest to find at night.

Please RP yourself going to the lake and searching.
If you are searching at night, go to "Dark".
If you are searching at any other time, go to "Failure".

Quan's travels once again brought the young Orderite student to the continent of Soudul, a dark and unpleasant place for any Orderite. Ainsley, in particular, never enjoyed his visits there, though he could certainly tolerate it. Today he was meandering about the marketplace, mostly left to his own devices as Quan had wandered off to find an old acquaintance of his to have a "chat" with her.. or was it a him? The blonde had already forgotten, but as he perused the different stalls he noticed the weird looks he was getting from the darker skinned individuals that more or less surrounded him. There was the occasional Dovaa and another fellow Orderite as well, but Ainsley decided simply to keep to himself. The teen continued to browse until he came upon a particular stall that had managed to draw a crowd. The Oblivionite manning the little store was busy chatting with a few of the customers, talking about some herb or another...

The blonde passed by them, pretending to browse through the different wares for sale while eavesdropping on their conversation. He'd always been the curious sort, after all, so while he was feeling the texture of a fur coat his ears were perked slightly and he managed to catch a few words.

"Couldn't find any at all..."

"...rare, you know that. Did you look in the right place?"

"...banks of Koralifel, I'm eye-less, not a moron."

"What, what didn't you find?"

"
That herb, you know the one..."

Ainsley quirked a brow in slight confusion. An herb? That's what all the hubbub was about? The teen snorted and hurriedly left the stall, inconspicuously leaving the marketplace and hurrying to Lake Koralifel. Hell, he'd always been the curious sort. It probably wasn't a good idea to be going about the task at night, but, as far as Ainsley was concerned, there was no time like the present. Besides, Quan had his hands full elsewhere anyway. He had a bit of time to spare before turning in for the night.

Dark

Quote:
As you hunt among the gray and purple bushes and black grasses, the moon light shining above you, a strange glow off to your right catches your eye. Even though it is night, you can see a strange blue glow burning from within a patch of cattails along the bank. A scent that reminds you of a dusty library comes from that direction.

Drawn to the scent and the deep glow, you push the cattails aside to reveal a glowing faded blue fluffy-looking herb that spins and circles around to the center, much like a rose. This must be the Fluffotton that they spoke of! After all, what other herb glowed a faded blue and had that cloud-like shape?

Please RP your discovery and thoughts and then leaving. Feel free to RP your character going back home and bragging or showing their new discovery to teachers/parents. Make sure you reach 500 words or this won't count towards your RP requirements.

Reward: x2 Fluffotton

Navigating to Lake Koralifel was a bit tricky at night, but thankfully Ainsley managed (just barely) and soon found himself staring at the dark lake in person, the moon being the only source of light for him. He made quick work of choosing which bank to start searching in, and, after loosening up just a bit, he began looking. Turning over rocks and poking through bush and thicket that surrounded the lake; the darkness wasn't doing him any favors, though thankfully the moonlight was at least bright enough so he could actually see where he was going. His search must have gone on for at least an hour before he made it to the western side of the lake, and by then he was about ready to throw in the towel.

"Rare?" he said in a huff while taking a seat. The grass was damp beneath him, but he was too tired to really care. "Maybe nonexistent is a better word for it.."

And with that statement he got up and began his search again. He wasn't going to leave the place empty-handed; he'd already gone through the trouble of getting himself damp and muddy from all of his searching, he may as well get something out of it. So he searched, and searched, and searched some more. Soon enough he came upon a particular group of cattails. There was a glow coming up from somewhere within. It should have been so obvious considering it was so dark out, but as Ainsley drew closer he began to take in a familiar scent.

His textbooks smelled similar, like dust and aging pages in a book. Carefully the Orderite got closer and reached out to separate the cattails, revealing several fluffy herbs growing near the center of the group. The blonde smiled wide at the sight, then gently plucked a pair and placed them in a pouch for safekeeping. He quickly made his exit then, not wanting to linger around the lake for much longer.

Ainsley eventually made it back into town and to the inn that he and Quan were staying in for once. It was nice to sleep in a bed every so often; camping was good and well, but a nice, soft, comfy bed was always a welcome respite from the hard ground. After getting himself cleaned up a bit, he met Quan in the dining area and took a seat at the table the older Orderite was occupying.

"What took you so long?" he asked, huffing into his pipe a bit. Ainsley frowned at that; he'd never been a fan of the man's smoking.

"Really, indoors?" he said, waving away the puffs of smoke. "Went and found something around the lake."

Quan leaned in at that, his brows raised in question. "Found something, 'ey? Well go on then, show me." Ainsley narrowed his eyes at that, almost in defiance, but quickly recovered with a smile as he loosened the opening of his pouch and procured the herbs that he managed to find.

"Fluffotton, right? I heard and read that they were rare, but I found a bunch all on my own. How's that for a bit of luck, huh?"

Quan chuckled at the teen's enthusiasm before handing the herbs back over to him. "Alright, alright. Nice work, I'll give you that. Now let's eat and get to bed. We've gotta get moving again in the morning."

The teen nodded and tucked his newly found herbs away once more. At least he got something done while in Soudul; better than just wandering around at least. Or, you know, running into a dragon.
