 Merlin's Tower
Merlin's Tower is now a great monument that stands many, many stories high. Its the symbolic, and almost typical old-fashioned tower with a pointed top and blue roof. It's perfectly straight, with only a slight curve inwards towards the middle before stretching out again to reach the top room where Merlin studied. The academy itself covers it, like it protects it, it is right in the center of the main atrium. There used to be an extended tower half way up, but all that survives is the curving staircase that would lead to the second tower. The floor where it rests is home to small forest animals and greeny-blue grass. The door that leads inside is circular and wooden, except none of the planks go vertically or horizontally, they're all curved round the center piece which would be the handle. The handle is an iron dragon's face, with sapphire eyes. It's jaws are open as if they used to hold something.
No one has been inside for hundreds of years since the Jewel War when Merlin died, the last depiction of him (left) is hung on the wall nearby. In fact, it is the only physical picture in the atrium, the rest are on moving screens. The legendary sword seen with him was forged at the beginning of the Jewel War, when Merlin saw a greater threat and began plans for Merlin Academy. Technology was less advanced then, yet Entei helped Merlin synchronize the blade with Merlin's mind. Making battle with the blade only that much easier.
The blade is known as Excalibur. Many have tried to find it and all have failed. Rumours say it was destroyed with Merlin towards the end of the Jewel War, when Merlin was said to destroy the Red Jewel and its wielder. But others say he survived that feat and locked Excalibur and the Jewel away before he passed, leaving Entei with the plans for MA. Soon after the war, Entei began his city and Merlin's academy, he passed not long after the academy was half complete.

The main atrium spanned several football pitches and towered up way above, formed of towering steel and stone walls and columns. The floor space was littered with seating, tables, large open spaces leading to a cafeteria and various staircases leading up to other areas of the school. Anything the students might need to purchase for studies or on break could be found here. Aoi's team were already sat at a large table with space for Micha'el and Lottie. Behind them was the magically walled off Tower of Merlin, which was sat upon a small hill of grass and bushes. It looked old yet timeless, looming down over everyone.
Meanwhile, The Prince and Tsuna were lingering in the In-Between, watching the inky world around them focus and fade as Micha'el and Lottie moved spaces. The longer they remained, the more sharp the world around them became. Voices slowly began to make sense, forming whole sentences rather than muffled sounds. "You'll learn to step into their reality... in a few centuries" the Prince noted. Though he looked at the students before him as if he was agitated he couldn't hear them either. It was obvious then that whilst Tsuna remained here - he could not be there. His anchor point was now stuck in this limbo with him, and so once more he was tethered to the Land of Crows... or this bubble of vague reality. "Now the true question is this... Are you stuck here in this land for all eternity... or will you be forever haunting your friends?"
Then - a chill could be felt running up Tsuna's spine. Like a cool breeze resting on her shoulders, resting on the nape of her neck. She felt like she could do it. Step into their reality, just like the Prince mocked. And once she did it, the world would become crisp, though faded at the edges, as though a mist lingered in the distance. She would hear her friends talking, and high above she would see the ceiling - the enchanted floor that overlooked the Atrium from Alexis' office.

Tsuna MikiSadly, as cruel as the Prince sounded, he was right because she may discover things she wished she hadn't. Finally, her friends came to a conclusion that the Prince took her to another dimension, even though it was herself that got her trapped there. At least Lottie was using her brain while Micha'el continued to be conflicted and aloof about the whole ordeal. Still, she wasn't surprised that he was mad at her after what she had said to him. Of course, when she, no if she gets back she'll apologize. As quickly as the two decided to leave Tsuna be, Aoi intercomed them through the brooches bestowed on them by Alexis. Her petite voice advised them to come to the atrium since they were all filled in. Lottie even comprised an excuse for Tsuna absence, even if it was vague.
The atrium was enormous spanning a great distance far and above accompanied with steel and stone walls and columns. Tables and seating areas were scattered about leading into a cafeteria and various staircases. Anything a student needed supplies wise or just a place to rest was here in arms reach for them. Aoi's team sat a table creating space for Micha'el and Lottie when they showed up. The Tower of Merlin was magically walled off behind them giving them a timeless view of the ancient building. In the In-Between, Tsuna noticed the longer she lingered the more the inky world around her crispened. Voices became clear, faces more defined, and scenery had more depth. The Prince taunted her from behind as usual, but Tsuna refused to let him whittle at her insecurities. When she peered over her shoulder at him, he looked almost frustrated causing Tsuna to formulate a theory of her being here was somehow throwing him off. He asked her a question which she had to think of for a moment when a sudden chill rushed up her spine. A cool breeze rested at her shoulders pooling around the nape of her neck as if a focus was coxing her to step into her friend's reality.
It was like an invisible tether had been created between her and her teammates and all she had to was grab on and step forward. The beckoning coolness faded as the world around her sharpened, yet a mist lingered around the edges of details. She could hang on their every word, but at the moment her attention was drawn to Alexis's office above the atrium. She turned to the Prince smirking wildly ready to answer his impertinent questions. "You always seem to underestimate me. Be you...ha...I could surpass you. Jealous? As for my friends, haunting them and guiding them all two different things. Guess you'll just have to keep following me around to find out." Before he could rebuttal, she blinked away to another part in the space climbing up to Alexis's office. The invisible rope connecting her to her teams didn't snag or snap since when she got there she could still make them out below meaning she wasn't far from them. She phased right through the floor which was one perk about being trapped in the In-Between. Luckily, she had made it just in time as Laxion was standing there waiting for her to enter which means they hadn't begun a conversation yet. She stood not far from Laxion wondering what the two had to discuss and how much, if at all, Alexis would reveal to him.

Background Music for In-Between
Laxion was stood leaning against the staircase bannister, looking over at the stained glass window with his arms crossed nonchalantly. His black hair (which sometimes shun a dark blue in the right light), was tight back into a loose ponytail that hung delicately between his shoulder blades. The length of his hair then stopped above his waist. He wore light armour that was form fitting; layers of pale sea-foam green fabric and leather allowed for free movement whilst plates of silver covered his vital areas to maximum protection. Most of his arms were bare, however, to help with his air bending. There was an air of calm around him that was cut short as Alexis stepped into the room.
She wafted her hand behind her, magically closing the door behind her as she strode around Laxion, who turned to face her. "Laxion" she said. She was now at the seat of her desk. Her fingers rested upon it's edge as she looked up at him with a smile. "I'm so glad to see you... but why did you come unannounced?" "As am I" he responded, "you look well. Better than last we met." A smile cracked on his face, delicate, sincere and almost hidden. He had a way with words than made Alexis smile again. She remembered first meeting him, coming to understand some of the strange things he might say, words and nomenclatures that carried over from Zakernand. Laxion didn't answer her question immediately. Alexis watched his smile fade as he silently pondered an answer. Her lips closed tight. "You haven't come to see me since my vision." "I kept in contact" "Messenger pigeons from Asmodius every few months. Then many months..." Laxion looked at her with an innocent yet inquisitive expression. "They were carriers" "Pigeons-" "men with bags?" he corrected her, but the two of them couldn't help but break another awkward smile. "You must be here on official business then" Alexis sighed, pulled out her chair to take a seat. She magically pulled over another for him, but he waved at her and declined. She rolled her eyes. "The Noble Council sent you I guess? They've been begging my guild for arcane supplies for weeks - but I can't just give away school resources just so that their college can keep up with the other academies. I'm fighting a war, the Scarred necromancers are getting stronger, and one of them is using arcane magic to raise legions of intelligent undead." "No, no it's not that. They really came to you for that?" Laxion looked genuinely surprised, Alexis was just as perplexed. "Yes" she said, "just yesterday I turned away your petty Baron of Commerce." "He... he isn't in charge of Asmodius College" "I know. That's exactly why my guards sent him away empty-handed. Which is why I guessed you were here to legitimise his purpose." "Uh - no. Definitely not. The college has all the resources it needs and has no interest in teaching arcane arts. It trains soldiers, not wizards." "So it's financial problems them. Tell your Noble Council I've no interest in maintaining their economy." "Alexis - I'm not here on behalf of Asmodius. I'm not even here as a tutor of the college." "Then what is it?" she cut in, growing impatient. "You barely spoke to me after I begged you to help me find Lucas, you left me behind." "I didn't leave you. Alexis, I remained by your side for as long as I could but-" "But what? You had to cut ties to face the facts, just like you did with Nyru?" "I-" Laxion stuttered, too stunned to speak. His eyes watered, but he blinked the tears away and straightened himself, letting the pang in his chest fall to his stomach. "I have to think about the facts, Alexis." "Facts" Alexis muttered as if the words were poison in her mouth. "You sound like them." "He's here, in the city you know. Spying on me. I guess you were right about one thing. He really does care too much about his precious Queen." He shot her a glare, somehow remaining calm even as anger filled his eyes. "I don't care what he's doing! I don't want to know. Don't weigh your problems on to me." His expression then quickly turned to disappointment. "We're not Team Elixir anymore Alexis. I have responsibilities. You have responsibilities. The world isn't the way it was when we were galivanting around the world for the 'greater good' and doing whatever we wanted. I had soldiers to train, lords to answer to. I couldn't just take your word for it that some evil force took Lucas from you when everything points towards him walking away. People sometimes just do that." Alexis scoffed, "Ruby would never have doubted me" "Ruby isn't here! I'm sorry Alexis... I wish she was too, and I wish I could help you but I can't. I'm leaving" Silence hung in the air. Alexis stood again. "Leaving?" she asked. Laxion let out a breath, "I'm going to Zakernand. Nightmares are running rampant. With the college stretched for funding I offered to return home to support my people. Now the college won't have to pay me either. I came to say goodbye. Sending letters will take much longer from there - but now I will save my writing and let you get on with the task at hand. Your duties to your own sovereign status." He left that last comment as a comparison to Nyru and his devotion to his Queen. A comparison that stung Alexis, but one she didn't have a quip for.

Tsuna MikiLaxion leaned against the staircase banister nonchalantly staring at a stained glass window until Alexis arrived. His black hair that flicked a darker blue in the light was tied into a tight ponytail with it cascading between his shoulders and down his backside to his waist. He wore fitted layers of seafoam green colored fabric and leather between his plates of silver armour that protected a majority of his vital areas. However, his arms remained bare for fluid movement of his wind abilities. The silence was broken when Alexis strolled in magically closing the door behind her and greeting Laxion on her way to her desk. She smiled at her old friend pleased by his presences, but at the same time begrudging his unexpected visit. Laxion returned her greeting caringly, but not fully answering her question as the two exchanged silent comradery with one another. Their friendship ran deep and little things between them were keep at arms length from prying eyes. Sadly, his friendly affection had faded from her as she recalled him not keeping in contact with her after her vision. He mentioned carrier pigeons and the two flopped back and forth correcting one another before breaking tension that could have fractured between them.
She wittily tried to guess the nature of his visit from suggesting official business to which she magic pulled over a chair for him which he quickly denied. Visibly frustrated she figured the Noble Council sent him to collect a supply of Arcane to fuel their other institutes. She couldn't fulfill their requests though, especially with the academy being threatened by Scarred Necromancers with the power to raise armies of intelligent undead. Laxion was even surprised the Asmodius Colleges would ask for the impossible and she even turned away one of their most important benefactors. Laxion tried to vouge of the man, but Alexis waved him off thinking that Laxion was now here in his stead. Laxion assured her he wasn't there on behalf of Asmodius College at all, financial, which she drudged up, or instructional, which he brought up. She became irritated and impatient instantly snapping at him for leaving and ignoring her on the Lucas matter. He tried to defend himself only for her to bite back using his breakup with Nyru against him. The wound of their lost love cut him deep and he held back tears as he bluntly told her to face reality. She compared him to Nyru and the Queen for not believing her to which Laxion shot back refusing to crumple under her problems choosing to expel any leftover feeling for Nyru. His disappointment for her delusions was carved into the lines of his face as he explained that Team Exiler had disbanded, they grew up and took on different responsibilities, and everyone moved on including Lucas instead of some random evil at play. In that moment, Tsuna's chest hurt knowing that she could be looking into the future for her own team. It also pained her when the mentioned Ruby knowing that an integral teammate was lost to them. She didn't know her for long, but her innocent, happy presence was infectious.
Eventually, Laxion told her that he came to say goodbye to return to his homeland of Zakernand since Nightmares were running rampant there. The colleges won't be supporting him in his endeavors either. He figured this would be the fastest way to tell her since a letter would have taken longer and would have been less sincere. Lastly, he left her with the notion that she was not so different from Nyru devoting himself to his Queen as she is to devoting her duties to her own sovereign status. After he left, she could see the ties between them fade into nonexistence causing her stomach to drop. She never wanted something like this to happen between her and her teammates as she walked over to Alexis somberly. "Sorry..." She said not thinking the mage could hear her as she turned to leave as well. She didn't even notice that her tail had swiped papers off her desk indicating that her presence in their world was growing stronger. A gentle breeze had devolved into a more physical and as she returned to her friends she'd soon discover this. As for Alexis, seeing the papers fly off her desk despite no breeze from any open windows must have baffled her.

Alexis gritted her teeth together, eyes trailing the floor as Laxion left to aid his people in Zakernand. She thought about how the Elemental people must be facing a truly great threat for him to head north. She didn't know too much about Nightmares, but knew that they were created from intense negative emotions. She began to ponder what could be behind it but before her thoughts could continue she was startled by her papers falling from her desk. She rolled her eyes and let out a sigh, kneeling down to lift the papers. She assumed Laxion couldn't help but irritate her further with his elemental control over the air. She placed the papers down, spreading them as one of the pages revealed her notes on a 'key' to the arcane power locked deep within the Starwell. She gasped. "A key" she placed her fingers over the scrawlings.
Micha'el had come out of his shell more than he had done at all in the past few days. Aoi's team were great at conversation... well, most of them. Kuroyuri often became the silent observer, cracking a smile on the odd occasion, or cracking an out of place word of advice - which always made Lottie let out a loud cry of laughter. Micha'el's blue eyes were brimming with life as Sagiso finished speaking. "And that's how we became the official protectors of the Starwell." "What... so you'll be called Team Star one day?" Micha'el asked, fondling the Aria pendant hanging from his necklace. Sometimes he thought he could feel it beat, like a tiny heart. Sagiso nudged Micha'el with his shoulder, "we could! Give you guys a run for your money. What is more powerful, the Sun or a Star?" "That would be a technicality - strictly speaking - the Sun is a Star, but if our Star was like Betelgeuse, then the Sun would be considerably outmatched." Silence followed as they all looked towards Kuroyuri who looked proud of himself. Lottie almost chocked to hold in a chuckle, then Carmelia grinned. Sagiso crossed his arms and nodded, "exactly. Looks like we win." "Nah" Lottie exclaimed, "you have to complete the mission first - what're you going to defend the Starwell against anyway? I can't see anyone invading it anytime soon. They have to get passed..." Lottie's eyes grew wide as she remembered, "the team! Uhm, uhm... Your elite squad! With the little girl that took out an entire army of Scarred" "The 13th Arcane Battalion" Kuroyuri stated. Carmelia rolled her eyes, "Adelia Von Verstoben." She gestured with her hand like she was defeated, "yeah, I don't see anyone getting past the eastern coast with her around. "Where is she?" Lottie asked, thirsty for introductions. "Preparing for their next mission" Carmelia confirmed, "it's only for us to know - but Arch Mage Truesvale is sending them to attack Bloodholme directly in a matter of days. They plan on annihilating the necromancers... and that one necromancer in particular who's using arcane magic to control the dead. In the meantime, we protect the Starwell whilst the magi finish the magic calculations.

Tsuna MikiWhen Tsuna came back to the group, she noticed how chummy they all looked without her present and felt a lump in her throat. Jealously is the worst monster, indeed. Aoi's team was great with conversation and cleaver banter as they discussed who's team would trump over the other in the future. Sagiso was proud to mention their position as guardians of the Starwell, meanwhile, Kuroyuri cracked some insightful intelligence on the solar system. He may be quiet, but his observations were sound making Lottie laugh out loud and forcing his female teammates to smile. The conversation moved on as Lottie wondered why they needed to guard the Starwell if another team had it under control. Kuroyuri said they were known as the 13th Arcane Battalion, and their leader was a young, furious little girl named Adelia Von Verstoben. However, they were set to leave for Bloodholme in a few days by order of Alexis in order to annihilate the Necromancers to prevent an uprising. Until them, Aoi's team is left in charge clearing up her suspicions from earlier. The Starwell was the link they needed and whether the calculations were finished or not, she needed to get Micha'el to it. Question was...how?
She was frustrated being stuck in the In Between, as she looked around for an answer of salvation. At that very moment, JayBird strolled in with his hood covering his face still trying to hide from his admirers. He figured seeking refuge with Aoi's team would be best as he quickly scurried over to their table not really paying attention to where he was going. He was heading right for her and she predicted that he'd pass right through her, but this was not the case. He pumped into her and she actually teetered backwards and so did he! It was an outstanding revelation that took her by surprise. When he glanced up to apologize he was flabbergasted to see no one was there and shook his head thinking he had imagined it in all his panic. "It can't...no my connection to their reality is getting stronger." She smirked devilishly at the Prince giving him a look as if she had bested him at his own game. However, she had to test out how far her ghostly presence could go so she walked up to the table to confront each person. "Hey guys...so uhhh...could I-" Before he could finish, Tsuna pulled back his hood revealing his messy black hair leaving him as stiff as a board. Before anyone else could response in his stead or scream out in fright, she went around to each one of them either poking, tugging, or messing with their clothes or hair to get some kind of reaction. "I hope this works...." Tsuna bit her lip in anticipation as she stepped back waiting to see what they would do.

"Oh, hey JayBird!" Aoi beamed, squinting her eyes as she always did when he arrived. She moved over to make space for him at the bench when he flinched and his hood flew off his head. Aoi watched, perplexed, whilst JayBird stared on in horror. Lottie eyed the two up, blinking between them. She opened her mouth to ask what was wrong but was suddenly poked, causing her to flinch and crash into Micha'el. He gasped, letting out a sound of disguntlement whilst the rest of the team let out small yelps and curses of confusion. "Hey!" Sagiso said, stomping up to his feed. He looked down at Carmelia, who upon meeting his gaze, shut him down quickly. "Oh you do not think that was me?" she said, peering over the brim of her glasses when suddenly her scarf was tugged off her neck, falling to the table before her. "Someone is going to pay for this" she uttered, looking around at who in Merlin's name would be insufferable enough to jinx them with some poorly calculated spell.
"It's Tsuna" Micha'el said, simply and powerfully. Aoi tilted her head whilst everyone else slowly began to sink back into their seats. Aoi leaned forwards to see him, "I thought you said she was researching?" "I lied. Tsuna worked out how to go invisible apparently, then left us after we exited the Starwell." Micha'el made sure to leave out the implication that she said she was going to infiltrate said Starwell. Lottie met his gaze, eyeing him from the side as he gave her no more than a second of eye-contact. He pinched his arm. Something that she carefully tried to stop him from doing as she placed her hand on his. Micha'el nonchalantly yet softly pulled his hand away - as if he hadn't even noticed. Sagiso pulled in a breath and whispered "Tsuna?! Did you go to the restricted section? Where do they keep the Non-Magic anime?" Carmelia kicked him under the table and crossed her arms, as if she was ready to start an interrogation. "You gonna show up now, Tsuna?.." "Give us a sign" Sagiso added, looking up into the air as if speaking to a ghost. "She's not dead" Kuroyuri said plainly... before turning his head with frightful anticipation in case he was right, "... is she?" She might as well be if she got caught in the Starwell without permission Micha'el thought, but instead he paused and waited for her to reveal herself. Together they waited in silence, but no big reveal followed.
Tsuna would soon notice, too, that the Prince of Crows was no where to be seen. If she willed it though, she would be able to return to him, deeper in the In-Between, where the world was far more disconnected from here.
"Maybe... she's... not able to?" Lottie said, trying to suggest a probably cause. She liked to believe that Tsuna would remain like this on purpose. "Tsuna" she said softly, "if that's right can you please put JayBird's hood back up?"

Tsuna MikiA little bit of tension seemed to rise from all the team members ready to accuse on another for the unamusing pranks. However, Micha'el quickly confirmed that it was Tsuna behind the scenes causing her to smile victoriously as he described how he lied to the others in her defense. He was even so kind as to leave her treason out before pinching himself nervously as he always did. Lottie tried to console him, but he gently pushed her away not drawing to much attention to himself. In true Sagiso fashion, he began to ask her irrelevant questions causing Carmelia to kick him from under the table. For some reason he though her presence was spiritual assuming she was dead playing Kuroyuri for a minute. They all waited and wanted to reveal herself, but when she finally thought the moment had come to leave that world her escape failed. She gritted her teeth in frustration as she turned around to address the Prince realizing he wasn't there. "Prince of Crows?" She called out in concern only for an echo of her own voice to reply back. He was gone and his absence wasn't a good sign at all.
Lottie quickly concluded that she could leave and asked for her to preform a simple task to know that she was here. Following Lottie's instructions, she lightly lifted JayBird's hood placing it back on his head. JayBird wasn't terribly thrilled to be experimented with, but when he knew it was Tsuna's interference he relaxed a little. Now that they knew it was her, she needed a sign for them to move along. She looked around when noticed a girl walking by with a star shaped pendant hanging from her necklace. Luck was on her side once more as she swiped the necklace from the girl that didn't even notice her ghostly presences and swiftly tossed it onto the table. She had faith that Micha'el would get the hint and give the others an incentive to go. As for her, she needed to find the Prince. She walked away from the group going as far as she could before feeling that invisible tether. She had to reach in further and temporary severe her connect to her friends in order to find him. She knew this could turn out badly for her, but losing his guidance in this world could make her more stuck. Closing her eyes, she concentrated hard until the world around her became cold and fuzzy. She could no longer make out details or sounds and the inkiness of the colorless world enveloped her and the Prince whom she could now see. She walked up to him from behind and looked at him up and down before replying somberly. "Me being here is causing you to disappear. What will happen if you vanish all together?"
