Eissen had wandered quite a ways from his mother and siblings which wasn't uncommon for him to do now and then. However, now that he was an adult he had begun to move himself into a den of his own which admittedly wasn't too far from his mother. He wasn't a mommy's boy in the least, but she was probably the greatest fighter in the world. Probably didn't hurt to stick close to her and learn some extra skills. His mother had made sure he and his siblings could protect themselves in the rough Outlands. Eissen just seemed to absorb it like a sponge.
After a little more wandering Eissen felt himself approaching a smell that should have made him turn away and return to the Outlands, however, curiosity got the better of him--maybe a big ego too--and he kept straight on his path that led him to the Pridelands border. As he strolled just a few inches to the side of it he grinned. So this was where they lived? He'd probably never admit it to anyone, but he'd actually been to the pride before when he was cub and met another male cub his age. Little did he know his real parents lived in the pride. Sure his father came and visited them, but he'd grown up believing Risheera was his mother and he'd never know otherwise. "Wonder how well they patrol their borders." He said with a devilish grin. Despite how it may seem to anyone outside his head, Eissen actually meant no harm to the pride. In all honesty he'd continued along his journey to the pride to see if he could encounter a pridelander and it would be bonus if it was the cub from his childhood.

The tawny female plodded through what seemed like barren landscape. No matter how hard she tried, she was still abysmal at hunting. Unless she got really really Really lucky at coming across an incredibly stupid animal, all of her prey always got away. She went out every few days to make her pitiful attempt. Most often she home empty pawed. Here she wasn't royalty, and she felt useless.
Today Kakra had ventured further than she normally did. All the way to the boundies of her new home. Really it was to mope without too much fear of running into someone from the pride. Her tail dragged in the dirt as she plodded along. It wasn't until after several minutes that she noticed a new scent. Kakra lifted her head and looked around. A lion walking along the edge of the scent mark left her bewildered.
"What are you doing here?" She called out before thinking.

When the female approached him from the opposite side of the border, Eissen inwardly grinned. His outside exterior didn't show the same warmth though, in fact he seemed to be almost made of stone. So he had stumbled upon a Pridelander after all, rather she'd stumbled upon him. Despite the fact that she wasn't what he'd been hoping for originally Eissen was still rather happy with how things had turned out. Her question caught him off guard a bit though. It was a simple one, but he hadn't really thought about what excuse he'd tell a Pridelander--if he managed to encounter one--and so he was forced to remain silent for a moment as he thought. "I live somewhat close to here. Simply decided to venture a little further from home today." Eissen replied. It wasn't a lie, however, it wasn't exactly the full truth either. Not that she'd know any different.
Deciding it was best to play dumb Eissen surveyed the border for a moment. "What are these lands called? Smells like a lot of lions live here." He stated. "I'm Eissen." His light green eyes scanned the female in a way that wasn't supposed to be creepy. Just getting a good look at who he was talking to. Not bad at all for a Pridelander. Eissen thought to himself.

She nodded understandingly. Look it how far she'd come from her own home. Oh well. Kakra looked him over and decided he didn't look like he'd be too much of a threat. She turned her attention back to her delemia for a moment. The rogue was an unexpected element, though he wasn't an pridemember. She glanced at him as he spoke again.
"Yes, I suppose a lot do. This is the Pridelands." She shifted and nearly dipped her head. This was awkward. "Say have you seen any easy game out here?" Maybe he'd be nice enough to point her toward something she could catch.

Eissen didn't mind that the female looked him over, in fact he seemed to hardly notice at all. What he did notice was her movements. Eissen was still a very young adult lion, so naturally he took notice of the female more than he probably should but he kept it subtle. "Pridelands?" He responded, phrasing it to be more of a question. At her own question Eissen's green eyes focused on her honey colored one's. "Easy game? You do realize this is the rogue lands right? Nothing's easy out here." He couldn't help but grin a bit but managed to stifle his chuckle. "Besides why do you want easy game?" His question seemed like a logical one to ask. Eissen wasn't the type to want anything because it was easy and he couldn't believe that anyone else would either.
"Hmm." He added, pondering the thought for a moment. "I'll show you a good spot to find some weak game in return you have to tell me you're name."

"That's what the pride calls themselves. If it has any specific meaning, I guess I've never been told." She tried not to look away from his very green eyes. There was something in those vivid eyes of his. Kakra blinked as he mentioned their location. It was technically the edge of the pridelands so it was boarderline.
"Well I mean... I was hoping that out here things might not have been hunted nearly as much." She flicked her ears back and forth several times. Smart and wary prey lived deep within the lands owned by the pride. She sighed as he dashed her hopes of catching prey on her own. it would just be best to go home now.
The lioness let her eyes flicker from his face to her feet and back several times. "I have a tough time catching food." No reason to go into it further. She jerked her head up as he made his proposal. Her name for a chance at something she might catch?! Done!
"My name is Kakra. What's yours?"

Oh, so prides could be named things without a particular reason? That seemed odd to him but he wasn't about to question it further, especially since she seemed unlikely to know. "I guess if you went to an area not many passed through you could find some weak prey but as far as I know there isn't around here like that." He shrugged slightly before grinning. "I don't go for the easy prey anyways." Essien liked the challenge that came with a hearty, healthy prey. Sure, that meant that he went hungry at times but he did have some pride as a lion. Looking at the lioness that stood before him though he guessed that he would have to curb his prey for her. That is, if she wanted to learn how to catch prey first.
"Kakra?" He asked, tasting each letter on his tongue. It was a good name for her. He couldn't exactly put into words why he thought that but her name seemed. . . delicate like her but at the same time it had a fierceness. "Well Kakra, I will teach you how to hunt. By the time I'm done with you, you won't be looking for easy prey anymore." He grinned. "I'm Essien."

She was hopeful at first. If she could find a spot that wasn't hunted regularly she could return with rightful prey and truly consider herself a part of the pride. Well that was good for him. She had no chance of catching what he probably normally chased. The tawny female gave a shiver as he said her name. It was weird how he said it, but she liked it.
Kakra stared at him. Was he nuts? She looked away with her ears laid back. "Others have tried you know." Her body would never do what she wanted when she was trying to hunt. Always she gave herself away; stepping on a twig, or rustling the grasses. Kakra did wonder why this rogue she'd just met would be willing to try. Essien, it was an interesting name.

Essien looked at the female with curiosity once more. How could she not have confidence in herself? He was an excellent hunter, willing to teach, what more could she want? "Hmm.." He said with a look of "what should I do with you" before grinning again. "Well, I guess I'll have do better than them." He gave her a wink of confidence, or what was supposed to be anyways. He flicked his tail and gave his head a motion of this way before turning himself and walking away.
"How about we make a deal?" He asked, not seeing if she was actually following him or not. "If you learn how to hunt and manage to get some big prey, you'll help me with something." He paused. "If I fail in teaching you I'll stay here and hunt for you until you find a mate or whatever." He grinned again, knowing there was no way he would lose. How could he? Essien had always been a little too cocky for his own good, thus far it hadn't bit him in the rump.

~Kiana_Nala~ Would you like him to succeed in teaching her? ^_^ Kakra braced herself. Here it came. A lioness that couldn't hunt. No one really said anything to her face, but she was sure they were whispering about it behind their paws. It made her feel awkward around her pride mates. She gaped at him and his confidence that he could do better than those who tried before. Was he really that good?
The tawny lioness started to follow without even thinking about it. It was painfully obvious that she was. She sounded like cub just crashing through; no finesse here. "W-what is it you want help with?" Over all it really wasn't a bad deal. She'd either learn to hunt and prove herself, or pretend she could hunt. Kakra figured they'd meet and he'd bring her something to take back. That wouldn't be bad would it?
She stumbled as he mentioned a mate. A mate? She hadn't thought about one since..... since that pride had faded away and her "mate" had left her alone there. It hurt to think about him still. "Alright," she whispered softly.

It took every ounce of strength Essien had to not stop and tell her how unbelievably loud she was being. Was this on purpose? Surely no one could think they could catch any prey with footsteps that loud. His ears pressed back against his head as he sighed. This would not do. He would have to fix this problem before they went any further or else she would scare away any chance she had at catching something. Then again, maybe this was the problem. Essien stopped in his tracks and turned on his heels. "Okay, you walk like you're carrying an elephant on your back." Well, Essien wasn't the one to sugar coat things well. "That's probably your biggest problem. You need to walk quietly, like a mouse." He took to walking quietly in a circle around her. "Like this."
Essien stopped in front of her and grinned confidently. "Give it a shot." His demeanor seemed to come off as kind but he had a rough way of showing it. Considering he was raised in the Outlands any kindness from him should be a miracle in and of itself. He smiled again, still having the same silly, cocky grin.

She thought something might be wrong when he laid his ears back. What? Didn't he want to tell her what she might have to do? Kakra couldn't image what a lion like him would need her help for. And likely she wouldn't find out unless he really was as good as he thought.
She pulled up abruptly as he turned. An elephant? Kakra tried to make sense of what he was talking about. A lion couldn't carry an elephant. Not even a baby one. "My biggest problem is I can't catch anything. Not less it runs at me," she mumbled the last. There had been that one a hare..... She shook her head to pull her attention back to what he was doing.
He was. Walking. She turned her head to follow. He wasn't doing anything she hadn't been near as she could tell. Kakra gulped. Walking had never been awkward before, but now! She didn't even know what he wanted her to do! Walk in a circle? Ok she'd give it a try. The tawny lioness stood up and walked around him. Same as before she made quiet a bit of noise. A crunching leaf there, twigs breaking here, that dislodged rock over there.

Essien had to disagree right away with the lioness. Her biggest problem wasn't that she couldn't catch anything. It was one of the problems. When she took to walking around him, just as he had done to her all he could do in response was shake his head. "No, no, no." Essien put out a paw to stop her. "You are not listening." He almost wanted to chuckle. Could she not hear the difference? Essien stood before her for a moment. "Listen to each footstep. Tell me what you hear. Not the actual act of walking." He clarified. After that little demonstration he had a better idea of what it was she needed in order to be able to hunt. Apparently he would be literally be teaching her from the foundation up. It was a challenge but Essien wasn't one to back down.
Once more the male walked in a circle around her, his footsteps light an silent. He would have demonstrated taking it slow but first she would need to learn how to walk quietly, let alone slowly. Essien figured once she cleared one step they could work on the next. "Did you hear?" Essien asked, coming to a halt in front of her once more, his tail flicking behind him. "Now you try. Remember, silent footsteps."magnadearel Are you still interested in testing them or? Just wanted to check with you. I probably will not be able to respond until the weekends, studying for tests/homework allowing me to of course. >w<;;;

~Kiana_Nala~ What did we have planned? Sorry I forgot. >.< I'll wrap this one up and then we can do another if you like/we'd planned that. I've already gotten him listed as her mate, so whenever he wants to join is good. ^_^ She stopped almost immediately. No? How no? She was walking just like he'd done, about the same pace. Kakra only tilted her head in confusion as he emphasized listening. What in the world did walking have to do with listening?
The tawny lioness tried to listen, but couldn't make heads or tails of what he was saying. Was he trying to mock her, or make a fool of her, even though he said he'd help? Kakra didn't know if she should be irritated or not. She didn't say anything as she went to try again. Trying to listen and walk, she probably made a bit more noise that she had before. Still not connecting what he was getting at. She sighed, this was going to be a long day.
