They’d spent a whole week hunting together; Esmeralda didn’t even know how they had survived. They hadn’t found any Diabi dragons, and then she'd asked him to accompany her to Eowyn, but just get her there and then they would separate ways. She felt home, Astral city, calling her back to her office and back to see how her family was doing. Esme planned on coming back of course, but not after a well-earned vacation and seeing her sibling born. Going home and spending some time with her parents would do her some good, as well as getting away from Ekundayo.

It wasn’t that she didn’t like Ekundayo, but she didn’t like the fact that her eyes wondered over to him far more than was advisory. She didn’t like the fact that he made her laugh and told her not to take life too seriously. She didn’t like that he kept her safe from the dangers they’d encountered while they were out hunting, or the way he was always there to lend her a hand when she needed it… Literally. She didn’t like the fact that he was a blood mage, didn’t like his stitches either. There really wasn’t that much she liked about him.

And yet.

Esmeralda liked having someone with her at night, liked having another presence there to watch her back. She liked being able to talk to someone when they didn’t find anything, it made the days slip by faster than she wished. She liked the fact that he put a smile on her face, and she thought his accent was adorable. It was interesting to learn about him, about the Oblivionites and share things about her own heritage. It probably wasn’t so safe to be giving out such information freely, but she didn’t believe he would betray her trust and if she’d learned anything about this trip was that friendships were all about trust. But more dangerously, Esmeralda liked the feel of his skin under her touch and she was in total complete denial about it.

They’d made it to the edge of the dune city now; there would be a village soon if they followed the road. Esmeralda had stopped though, simply to enjoy his presence all to herself a little longer. She didn’t think they would be able to go into a city side by side and talking to each other like they were old friends. So now she was seated on a rock, eye to the horizon as she watched the heat rising from the sand. She was going to miss him, just a little. “Let’s take a break.” Esme didn’t know how she was going to tell him they might not want to walk anywhere together.

Eku wanted the week of hunting to last just a little longer. It was probably the most enjoyable time he ever has in his life being with her as they looked for the Diabi. In the end though, they haven’t found the rare dragon in which he was afraid that it might upset Esmeralda but he tried to cheer her up at any way he could. He was a man who loves to smile but what he loves more is seeing her smile. It made him feel happy to see her smiling and laughing at him when she’s feeling down. While they were together, Eku has learned about the dragons in the world which is what he wanted. But he had learned also a few things about the Dovaa too and her people to which he shares of his race. It wasn’t anything major but the common things about them that the world knew about but in his view.

They are a depressed race in his hollowed eyes. They fight which is what they do and couldn’t stand the other races but that is because their life doesn’t have much meaning compared to the others. Upon the last day of their life it is the complete end of it all. There is no resting in peace. There’s not even a resting for they will cease to exist while the Orderites, Dovaas, and even Hybrids do have an afterlife. It’s sad, and painful. But he hides it behind a smile to ignore the pain and wants to enjoy his life while it’s in his hands in the here and now. And he is for he met an interesting woman who does live a somewhat opposite life he has, but she is kind, intelligent, caring, and beautiful as well. While he decided to join her with her hunts for the sake of knowledge, Eku decided to stay with her longer for he even agreed to travel with her to Eowyn with Vilzun now by his side for he doesn’t trust the Keindred at his home alone.

They were on their way to the city as they continued down the path. Vilzun seemed to be enjoying himself now as he is running ahead of them and rolling around in the dry, sandy ground. It made the mage sigh deeply for it won’t be long that he’ll run too far ahead and starts to cry on wondering where Eku and Esmeralda went. “Vilzun! Ya come back right now!” He called out to him whom Vilzun heard clearly as he stood back up and runs back to them. But Eku noticed that Esmeralda stopped walking suddenly and moving towards to sit on a rock. Hearing the suggestion of taking a break sounds like a great idea to him as he smiled in agreement. “A break be a good idea Esmy.” He agreed as he walked over to sit on a rock that as besides her. With his bag in front of him, he looked through to pull out a canteen of water and handed it to her. “Ya must be thirst after walkin’ all de way. Drink some.” It’s best to keep themselves hydrated along the way or else they might go insane with the heat; except Vilzun who decided to play with the creatures of the land in front of them. “It won’t be now. Den we can finally rest wit’out bein in de sun.”

Chuckling softly, Esmeralda watched as Vilzun ran right back to them. The Drakein seemed to be enjoying himself quite a bit out here, but that was a given considering what he was. He eyes than trail to Ekundayo he is now the one that sticks out like a sore thumb, it’s hard to miss the dark skin in such a place where light touches everything and anyone. The heat too was getting to her head, and she gladly grabbed the canteen from him to drink a few gulps of the cool liquid. She was going to make sure she never ran out of water here, even a Peisio Dovaa would grow thirsty here.

“Vilsun seems to enjoy the sun quite a lot.” Esme gave another chuckle and whipped her mouth with the back of her hand. She handed the canteen back to him and slightly turned towards him. “Do you think you could catch a sunburn? I feel like I’m about to combust into fire any moment now.” Or maybe his skin helped him keep cool; either way if they didn’t get out of this sun her mood was going to worsen. She was still with Eku so she wanted to at least enjoy his presence for a little longer.

Vilzun really is having a lot of fun which is a good thing. After living most of his life at Soudul where is basically perpetual darkness all day and night it does affect the young drakein. And so Eku does try to bring him out here as much as he can so Vilzun can grow up happy where his kind lives and thrives in the desert sands of Eowyn even it’s hot and uncomfortable for him. “Yeah, he be really happy now dan back home.” But Esmeralda is the one who is not happy here as she’s suffering more from the heat seeing her drinking the water from the canteen he gave her. Maybe it’s because she is a Peisio Dovaa and there no signs of water or anything cooling anywhere to rest.

He grabbed his canteen back from her and was about to take a drink of water until he stopped halfway as he looked over at her. “I be fine from de sun. It’s hot, but it don bother me much.” Not only because his dark skin keeps him protected from the sun, but also his outfit too for he’s just wearing his open jacket and his long wrap skirt. But it really does looked like she’s about to burst as he set the canteen down on the ground and he stood up; taking off his jacket along the way. Eku stood on front of her and draped it on top of her head gently and as best as he can with her horns as he created some sort of shade for Esmeralda. “Dere, hopefully dat be good until we get to de city.” The mage smiled down at her before returning back to his rock and sat down to finally drink some of the water as he slipped the mouth piece of the canteen between his stitches to drink. Not caring at all that he is completely topless now and more of his stiches is revealed at the joints of his body. His hollowed eyes looked over at her as he examined her from head to toe and finished drinking some of the water and wiped his mouth clean with the back of his hand. He screwed on the lid of the canteen and placed it away in his bag as he spoke again. “Den again, ya be dressin’ too much for de desert Esmy.” A grin was seen, giving a bit of a mischievous look as he chuckled while he looked at his young companion making friends with a Bognotti that he found.

Esme watched the Drakein a bit more, only nodding in agreement to Ekundayo’s statement. Well it looked like she was the only one bothered by the sun, and she was awfully pale. Esme’s eyes grew wide when she saw what he was doing; she smiled as she fixed the jacket so it wasn’t tugging on her horns so much. “Thank you.” She said politely, eyeing his chest and joints briefly. She wondered how he could live with all those stitches and if they hurt him when he moved, even after spending a week alone with him she was still too shy to ask him about something so private.

“You’re right.” Esmeralda concluded, she got up from the rock and took his jacket off. “I wouldn’t be dying with all this fur.” In front of him she began undoing the fur collar, once off her corset was tight and strong enough to support itself. Next off went her elbow length gloves which revealed many more scales. The belt was next and off it went leaving her in her leotard and barely anything else. Esme undid her hair letting it drop but leaving the braids in, all her clothing was stuffed into her back pack. She still had her stockings on as well as shoes, but those wouldn’t come off until they were in a building.

“You’re welcome Esmy.” She seemed to be acting normal now than before when he slipped his jacket off. He remembered how much Esmeralda would stare at him, but more at his chest then to his stitches. The mage can see her glancing at him right now and the stitches at his joints the most though. It didn’t surprise him at this point for he’s certainly one of a kind Oblivionite. If she wants to talk about it and ask a question, he wouldn’t mind answering. It’s a lot better than being stared at in silence for the man doesn’t like being stared constantly. While Eku appears to be completely confident in himself and everything, flaunting with what he has, it still hurt his feelings a little bit.

The next thing that happened had caught him of guard . . . completely. Eku was teasing her as she is overly dressed for travelling through the desert and now she’s standing up and . . . taking off some of her clothes. He saw the fur collar being taken off to her gloves, and then her belt as he saw the very shape of her body. Dear goddess . . . Esmeralda is gorgeous. Even though his sight is of waves, he can see every inch and line of her body, the lines of her leotard she’s wearing, scales, and just . . . he’s just speechless. For once in his life, he is happy that he has stitches on his mouth as it keeps his jaw from dropping down to the ground; especially when she moved to put her stuff away. “Ugh, dis desert be me grave . . .” Eku groaned as he lowered his head down; trying to calm himself down, stop with his thoughts, and stop staring at her shapely physique.

As she is finished packing her things up, Eku quickly stood up and grabbed his bag as it was swung over his shoulder. “Let’s be goin’ now Esmy. It’ll be bad to stay in one spot for too long.” He wanted to get going and keep moving to keep his mind away from his certain thoughts. “Vilzun! Stop playin’ wit dat Bognotti now! We be leavin’ now to the city.” And as he told the Drakein, Vilzun hurried up to him and passed by him to see Esmeralda; acting more like a domesticated canine than a drakein as he rubbed his face against her leg. It made Eku look back to see where he went and saw Esmeralda once again. He’s glad he has dark skin for it hides his blushing face as he started to walk at a slow place so they will keep up to him.

Turning her attention to Eku, she quirked her brow at him. “What was that?” Had he just said something? Esme had only heard him rumbling, and what was she doing looking at the ground? Though his sudden movement caught her of guard and she stared a little more at him, she thought they were resting? “Ah okay.” She too grabbed onto her things and but his jacket over her head once more, she was going to use it to keep the sun from touching her too much. Granted she wasn’t much more protected than she was before, with less clothing on and all, but at least she could breath.

They continued on the road side by side until they finally made it to Taliuma. Esmeralda looked around and frowned, she wasn’t used to seeing such a place… Astral city looked like it was heaven compared to this place, though Esme chastised herself, Dovaa were used to the grandeur. Considering Ekundayo and she made an odd couple, she got a few curious glances from a few people. Though it was the whistling from one side that made her turn and face those who had made the sound.

They were a group of five Dovaa warriors, and leaning in the shade of a building. Some had their arms crossed and were watching her with curiosity, others at Ekundayo which could only be defined as a glare and some had smiles. The one who had the largest smile, and who seemed to be the most brutish of them, a Firani Dovaa approached them. He grabbed onto her forearm and jerked her towards him, leering at her while he did it. His companions all leaned in, moving off the wall to stand behind him. “What’s a pretty little Dovaa like you doing out here?”

Esmeralda was almost twenty; most of her scholar friends who were the same age had been in a relationship for at least two years now. The Peisio Dovaa jerked back, but he tightened his grip on her enough to make her cry out. “Let go!” She shrieked, her bag dropping to the ground as she tried to pull away from his grip. “You shouldn’t be walking around with an Oblivionite, did he take you prisoner? We’ll cut him to pieces gladly if that’s the case.” They all turned towards Ekundayo, and the one holding her jerked her violently to the side, enough that she would have fallen to the ground if another Dovaa hadn’t caught her.

“I bet you took advantage of her, and we can’t be letting you Oblivionites do such a thing. We might be neutral but you don’t touch ours.” Fear gripped Esmeralda and she struggled with the Ysali Dovaa now holding her down. “Stop, he didn’t do anything.” The Ysali pulled her arm back to make her stop moving, and was successful, Esme was not a fighter and she knew she could not fight her own people without being banished. “Run Ekundayo.” She couldn’t allow the mage to fight them either, they couldn’t involve the Dovaa. Alone, she could deal with the warriors, because at least one of them would know Seristas.

He didn’t like coming into Taliuma at all for the moment they walked in he can feel the eyes staring at them. It made him feel like when he was younger back at his home when the people stared at him whenever he walks outside. It’s not a great feeling at all that it even agitated Vilzun for he can hear the sparks crackling from the young Drakein. But what’s even worse is that he has Esmeralda with him and she’s getting the terrible looks too. It made him pissed off to see that and possibly be talked about as well that he wants to grab her hand and drag her away from here. But that could possibly make it worse to create a further assumption that they might be together; more talk and possibly some chaos on the side of it.

But sadly the chaos has arrived when someone had caught Esmeralda’s attention and soon his when he looked to see five Dovaa warriors staring at them with a glare to him but a bright smile on to her. And he didn’t like it at all. A Firani Dovaa, who seemed to be the leader, was the first one to approach her and grabbed her away from his side. “Let her go!” His hollowed eyes narrowed dangerously at the warrior but he was soon cut off by three of the group who separated him from the Peisio Dovaa as they all quickly assumed she must be his prisoner and decided to become her knight in shining armor. It made him sick to his stomach of how these warriors were being.

One of them spoke to him about taking advantage of her which was highly laughable to him as he was now being surrounded. Everything was as he was hearing Esmeralda defending him and telling him to run away. It was all hitting him to whom the mage just have to chuckle and chuckle rather loudly for all of them to hear as he let his bag slipped down to the ground to get the weight off his shoulder. “Oh really? And how much did’ja bet on dat? All of de puny brain cells in ya head?” He reached his scepter up to poke at one of the Dovaa warrior’s head to hear if it was empty but quickly stepped back as the warrior had almost reached to grab his weapon away. “But all of ya be makin’ my kind lookin’ so good seein’ how ya be treatin’ your woman so roughly dat she be in pain now. It not be me fault at all if she wants to be wit’ someone else.” All of this is irritating the others so much for they are being compared to the Oblivionites. They look completely red with rage but it didn’t bothered him at all for Eku has experience dealing with angry people in his life as he ignored them and looked over at Esmeralda who is being held by a Ysali Dovaa and he smiled at her. “I’ll run . . . but I be runnin’ wit’ her.”

"You son a b***h!"

One of the warriors wield his sword up and aimed to slice him in half from behind. Eku saw it and moved to one side but his shoulder was now it's target as his eyes widen seeing the blade only inches away. But the mage severed his arm all on his own seeing the stitches still connected and floating away from the very blade. They gasp as well as the crowd who saw the commotion for the warrior dropped his blade and stepped back in shock. "W-what magic is this?!" The Oblivionite mage laughed at. His stupidity as he grabbed his arm and shoved it back. It caused him some pain but it was something that he has grown use to. "No magic. I just be one special guy." The threads that is enchanted in blood magic seeped out from his joints as they waved about in the air as he became loose from his joints. While they were fighting, Vilzun had sneaked from behind of everyone as he acted on his own. His target was the Ysali Dovaa who was holding Esmeralda hostage and sparks began to crackle for he couldn't control his own power yet. But that wasn't a problem at all at this moment for he opened his mouth and jumped up to bite him right on his rear and shocked him. The Dovaa screamed out in pain as he released her from his grasp while he was being chomped to death.

Eku now was having fun as he is moving about like some wild dance. The warriors were hitting each other and tumbling down from their constant misses that it made him laugh even more for how fun he was having. However, the Firani Dovaa was being embarrassed in front of everyone that they can't take down a damn mage as he ignored Esmeralda now and decided to be involved with the fight. "Move out of my way! His head is mine! Eku's death was declared as the others moved away to let him have his chance. The sword was quickly drawn by the Dovaa and the battle had truly began for it pushed the mage so much; he can feel the blade barely touching his skin. Finally, he was struck. The sword grazed against his shoulder as it cut a few of his threads loose and he bled. He held in his cry of pain as he moved away from him while clutching on to his shoulder. "Ha! What's the matter now you freak? Can't fight me now?" It irritated the man as he moved behind each of his companions to hide away and used them as his shield. By that didn't stop the Firani warrior as he moved to slice them down only for them to yelp in fear and dodge the attack.

One by one, he went behind all of them until Eku tripped and fell down to the ground as he winced on feeling his joint knee being scraped. And his hollowed eyes looked up in fear of seeing the warrior now who will be his doomed. He pointed his sword down and slashed the stitches off his lips; making Eku wince in pain as each thread was severed. With a wide, devil grin on his face, the Dovaa lifts his sword up and brought upon the final blow. But the sword was stopped to see that the four companions had stopped their leader; looking so lost in a daze in their clouded eyes. "What are you guys doing? Let me go!" But they ignored him as they pulled them back for they were taking the mage's order. On the back of their neck was a tiny blood skull latched on to them when he was hiding behind them earlier. They leaked out from his wound and his blood corrupted their mind as he puppet all of them. Eku laughed heartly at him as he got up from the ground, slipped the loose threads out of his mouth, and picked up his bag while he walked over to Esmeralda. "Are ya all right Esmy?" He asked but he didn't wait for her answer because he took her hand into his and looked over at Vilzun who was protecting her the entire time. "Good boy Vilzun. Let's go before me magic wears off." It can buy them only a short amount of time as he pulled on her hand to run away and hide somewhere in the village; ignoring the pain his shoulder and knee is feeling.

Ekundayo needed to run, run and not look back. The warriors wouldn’t harm her and the worst they could do was send her right back to Astral city to her family for some one on one about being with an Oblivionite. Esmeralda would probably give both of her parents a heart attack and she doubted they’d ever let her out of the house unsupervised until she was married off to some warrior. However, if push came to shove and they didn’t harm Ekundayo she would suffer the fate, he had been nothing but nice to her thus far. But first, Eku needed to go away.

Of course, she didn’t expect him to do… Whatever it was exactly he’d done, Esmeralda had only seen him cutting open his stitches on his mouth and she’d topped all struggles to stare at him. She almost didn’t move when he walked over to her in one piece, or as much of a one piece from what she could tell. Her next reaction from seeing all the blood was that she needed to heal him, he was going to bleed out if she didn’t do anything! There was no time to help Eku as he grabbed her hand they her feet followed his as they began running.

“I need to heal you.” Esmeralda said as she tried to run alongside of him, if he didn’t pass out from the blood loss than he would die from an infection. “Eku we need to stop so I can heal you.” She said more stubbornly this time, and she pulled both of them to a stop. She let go of his hand to bend down and use her knees to prop herself while she huffed and puffed and tried to regain her breath. When Esmeralda felt she could talk again she grabbed onto Ekundayo’s hand and moved them to a part of the city where there were less people.

She found an alleyway which was deserted, the three story buildings covered from on both sides and the alley opened up in a small courtyard. They were completely hidden from view except if someone stuck their head out of the homes and looked below into the small yard. “Here take a seat I’ll heal your wounds.” She wanted him to take a seat on the ground so Esme herself did so too opposite one of the walls hoping he’d get the message to sit with his back to the wall.
PostPosted: Tue Jun 04, 2013 8:21 pm

It was about time that she moved but that is because she was stunned on what happened and staring at his injuries on his shoulder and knee. They have to run away now because his blood control won’t control the other warriors for so long. It was just enough for a getaway to a safe place as they ran through the sand city to find a place to hide. Already he can feel his knee getting worse and worse the more he runs and his stitches are ripping up more. It was making his ball joint knee feel shakier but he has to ignore it and move. That’s all his body is telling him to do and he is following it.

But Esmeralda didn’t think the same as he is. She wanted to heal his wounds because he was bleeding so much and down his body. “Later! When we be far away from dem.” However that didn’t settled for that as the Dovaa pulled him to stop running as he could almost feel his arm popping out of his socket! The mage finally did stop as he breathed heavily to regain his breath again while he leaned forward and placed his hands on his knees to support himself up. Also they need to let Vilzun finally catch up to them as he was trailing behind them. The poor Keindred as gasping for air and almost looked as though he’s about to topple over. He felt his body aching in terrible pain and the small bit of blood has bled more than before.

Now his hand was grabbed by the scholar as she pulled him along to another part of the city where there is less foot traffic and to a deserted alley way where they can hide. He pressed his hand against the cool wall to support himself up as they walked deeper inside. Eku looked around to see the tall building surrounding them and to see what is at the end with the sight of a courtyard. His gaze then turned to the demanding woman now who asked him to sit down so she can see his wounds. And being himself, he chuckled as he finally gave in. “Fine, fine I’ll sit down now . . .” He walked a little way and pressed his back against the wall. His body shivered at the cold sensation against his heated body; fatigued from the running and the heat from the sun beating down on him. But he wasn’t as fatigued as Vilzun who just dropped down beside them with his tongue sticking out to rest. His opened mouth is still parted open as he pants heavily when he slides down. The mage looked like a broken doll as his arm and leg looks lifeless now without his stitches connected. He felt so pathetic in front of her. It was one thing that he didn’t want Esmeralda to see but he didn’t have a choice now as he hides his shame behind a fatigue chuckle with his hollowed eyes casting down to the ground. “Ya . . . ya got some strength in dat tug . . . Esmy.”

“I’m sorry.” Esmeralda said quietly, looking at him now it felt like they should have taken it a bit easier for his sake. “Thank you for saving me,” She put her hand on one of his legs gently. “I really appreciate it, but if I wasn’t so worried about you dying right now in front of me I would lecture you about your safety.” She tried to give him a tern look and tone but failed to do so, she was not one to reprimand anyways, Esme just didn’t want him doing something stupid and getting himself killed.

“Okay I haven’t done this in a while, healing I mean. I really only use my powers for small things like cuts and even then sometimes I don’t.” This Esme said in a light shy tone, she hadn’t healed anyone except herself in years. Hopefully she could heal him completely, or at least get most of his wounds closed up to the best of her abilities. “I’ve… I’ve never healed anyone, other than myself of course. So I’m not sure how this is going to go, so I’m sorry in advance if this hurts or I don’t even.” Esmeralda took a deep breath. “Okay here I go.”

Her hand was still on his leg, the injured one and Esme closed her eyes. The old lessons from years ago came back to her, Erisi’s voice carrying instructions. The problem with Esmeralda was that when she wanted to tap into her powers, it was like wrestling a storm within herself. She wrestled it until finally it bent to her will and flowed under her touch, and it took a few silent moments for her to achieve such a thing. Once she was sure the storm had calmed itself, she gathered the little moisture in the air to gather it around his knee.

The feeling would be similar to a cool liquid glide across ones skin as it covered the wound and healed injuries. Once she knew his knee was okay, she moved her hand to his shoulder and repeated the same process. However by the time she’d finished with his shoulder, she was sweating herself and breathing heavily. Without any proper training, healing someone else was harder than she’d anticipated. Esmeralda did however; want to see this to the end. So she leaned in closed and laid her hand on his face as up cupping it gently, again she repeated the process to heal his bleeding lips.

That had taken the last bit of her energy, and Esmeralda wavered and dropped her head onto his shoulder to breath. Her hand had fallen to her side to help herself stay up, she needed to regain a bit of energy. Chuckling softly, Esmeralda said. “Sorry, I just need to get my energy back up. I won’t be long.” Indeed a few seconds later she was pushing off of him to sit in front of Ekundayo with a tired smile and expression. “I hope that didn’t hurt, I don’t think I can fix your stitches though.”
PostPosted: Wed Jun 05, 2013 12:04 am

He chuckled and winced in pain as he as giving the stern talking to by Esmeralda only because Eku was so surprised to hear such a tone from a delicate woman. Of course she would be worry about him since he stayed and fight instead of running away like she told him to do and to the degree of injury he’s currently suffering. “Hah . . . I not be sorry, if it meant you be safe from dem fools.” That’s all it matters to him only for she is the closest person in his life and doesn’t want anyone to hurt her or take her away from him at all. He will fight tooth and nail to make sure of it even if his entire body is ripped up and his limbs destroyed. Well, he will hope something like that will never happen for that will make the Peisio dovaa cry forever, wanting to kill him for being stupid, and then back to crying.

It did surprise him to hear that she will be healing his wounds; even greater surprise that it’s her first time healing another person. It made his hollowed eyes finally looking up to her and feeling slightly worried too for she even apologized that it might hurt too. How can water hurt? But the mage calmed himself down and gave her a slight nod of his head as he wiggled around in his spot to be a little more comfortable. “Just do ya best Esmy. A little pain be nothin’ te me.” It couldn’t hurt that much, right? But he was then silent to let her concentrate on her magic as he looked upon his damaged knee for it was the first to be healed.

She looked deep in such focus with her Peisio magic to gather the healing waters to her hand. It felt so cooling upon first touch on his knee that it felt so relieving on his injury. It stings which as the only pain that he felt but the mage withstood the pain as he was being healed. The healing touch was then brought up to his shoulder now as the process began again to clean his wound. And as he looked up to see the healer up close, he saw the strain on her face. Beads of sweat were cascading down her face and she began to pant which made Eku worry even more for her own sake than his own. “Why she be doin’ dis?” The Oblivionite thought to himself as he saw his shoulder now healed and his attention taken away by the gentle caress on his cheek that made him look up to her; eyes still widen. “Esmy . . .” The mage tried to speak but he was silenced as his lips were being healed now. The cooling waters glides across his torn threads and the blood was wiped away and leaving just the empty holes on his mouth for his body is now completely healed.

But once that was finished, he saw her wavering following by her head dropping down on his shoulder to rest. It made him panic and wrap his uninjured arm around her waist to keep her up. “Esmy!” Eku held her up against his side only to worry even more when she began to chuckle. He was really starting rub off on her now for her to be doing that now but apparently she needed to rest for a moment after healing him. He shushed her gently as he rest his head on hers with his injured arm moving slightly, shaking from the lack of connection to his main body, but just enough to move close to her so his fingers can rub against her to calm her down. “Dat be fine Esmy.” He cooed gently. “Take all of de time ya need. Relax.” She did so much for him to put herself in such a weak state that it had touched him so much as he slightly nuzzled his face against her.

But it didn’t last as long as he thought for soon she moved. It didn’t seem that she has rested enough but he wasn’t going to question her about it. His stitches . . . they were something different as he looked at his shoulder and knee before looking up at her with a smirk on his face. “Dat be dey are enchanted stitches of me blood magic . . .” He explained as he reached over to grab his bag to pull it over to him and reached inside to grab a roll of thick, red thread with a black needle sticking on the roll itself. It made him frown as he held it in his hand only to stare at it for a while until he placed it on his lap to pull the needle out and some of the thread. “It be givin’ me body life . . . like muscle tendons to me joints to move dem. Ya . . . don’t need te look if it might make ya sick Esmy . . .” Eku muttered. He didn’t look up at her as he partially explained about it for it was something that he hates so much for it just brings so much from inside of him. The large needle was threaded through the eye and he brought it up to his shoulder first. The broken threads was pulled out so he can replace them as the needle slipped through the one of the holes of his skin and sewn to his arm and gave it a tug. His lips twitched slightly in pain, but it was a pain that he has grown used to that he has no choice but to.

But once he was about to continue . . . his hand was shaking. He can feel Esmeralda staring at him. Her eyes staring at his broken body that it made him feel so disgusted with himself. He was so different than the others that it hurt him so much. He was a freak of the Oblivionites that the others believed he must be a gathered of corpses together or something so hideous like that. It pains him so much that someone like her is here; someone so . . . nice, and so lovely too. Eku was starting to choke as he tries to swallow the hard knot in his throat but he dropped the needle as it dangled from his arm and he shifted his body to hide away from her so shamefully. “I . . . I can’t do it . . .” It was a side of Eku that he is afraid of showing to Esmeralda.

“I won’t get sick.” Esmeralda whispered quietly, she placed her fingers under his chin to force him to look at her gently. “You forget that I used to be a healer, stitching a body… It’s the basics of all healing.” Indeed, even as young as she was they had practice stitching on both unanimated objects and dead things. She removed her hand so that he could work on his wounds by himself; Esme shifted her weight so she was sitting back instead of leaning all over him. She watched him from afar, feeling slightly odd watching him prepare everything to stitch himself up.

Seeing Ekundayo start to choke up and shake, Esmeralda gently wraps her hand around one of his hands. “Ekundayo…” Her own heart was cracking as she watched him, it was so… Sad. Why was he hiding from her? Did he think she would shy away from him? She had caused this, this was all her fault. Esme didn’t want Ekundayo to feel shameful, and if they hadn’t come into town together they could have avoided all of these problems… “You don’t have to hide who you are Eku, I’m not scared.” If there was one thing she didn’t want him to do was hide from her, they were friends and friends helped each other out.

“I’ll do it.” Esmeralda said quietly, and she took the needle and thread and placed the needle on his skin where his shoulder was while holding his arm. A sudden very odd feeling overcame her, here she was… Sewing someone back up! Never had she thought she’d be doing this… Ever. Taking a deep breath, she stole a glance towards him. “Here we go.” The feeling of putting a needle through someone’s skin felt like it had all those years ago, and the weird feeling was back.

Esmeralda started out slowly, trying not to look at Eku’s face so she could avoid seeing the pain if there was any. Instead she concentrated on the task ahead of her, and as she gained confidence her speed increased as well. Even when she finished one limb and moved on to the next she did not look at him, she worked in silence with complete concentration. The minutes rolled by and Esme felt like it had taken forever, but when she was done she finally looked up at him again. “Done.” She placed the needle and thread back where Eku had taken it out and Esmeralda got up.

“Eku, we can’t keep on going. I think this is where we need to say goodbye.” Esmeralda’s chest felt heavy as if someone was squeezing with all their force her heart so she couldn’t breathe. She put her hand down for him to grab onto so she could help him up. “I can’t let you get hurt again because of me, and if I’m alone people will leave me alone.” She hoped he wouldn’t take this as a goodbye forever, because she did like him and she did feel like she had a genuine friend here. “I’m sure we’ll see each other again.” She pulled him into a tight hug. “Goodbye Ekundayo.” Pushing herself away, knowing that if she didn’t she wouldn’t ever let go, Esmeralda turned her back to him and walked out the alleyway.
