Only time would tell if Lydia's idea to set out on her own, by foot, loaded down with items, without any real idea what direction she needed to go in, would be a good idea or not.
She hefted her shotgun and kept an eye out, walking as silently as her clumsy a** could manage.
Items: 1 medkit, 1 pair of running shoes, 1 ice pack, 1 premium kevlar, 1 premium shotgun, 1 premium chain (she got greedy...also I need the chain to run because LOL so many items wtf Lydia)

Things were going moderately well to start with. So far nothing had jumped out at her, flown at her, or otherwise accosted her. She took a deep breath in through her mouth, slowly, and exhaled through her nose just as slowly to try and quell the panic mounting inside of her. She had left Penny and Nadya behind to decide whether or not they would follow. They had the 4-wheelers, something that would likely provide them with a lot of aid on their journey if they so chose.
She felt a small pang in her chest for leaving them, but knew she couldn't hve stayed in that room any longer. There were no safe places here.
Continuing along, her senses on high alert, her head swiveling side to side and her shotgun locked and loaded and ready to go, she caught sight of shining metal just as she was turning a corner in the path.
A chrome bumper. A chrome bumper attached to an SUV.
Everything else fled from her mind from that moment except a desperate need to get inside, and she threw herself towards it, flinging open the door, and sliding into the drivers seat before closing the door, carefully setting her gun on the floor of the seat beside her and letting out a long, loooooong breath that she had been holding.
Wiping at her eyes with the back of her hand, she adjusted the rearview mirror, glanced behind her at the empty seats to make sure they were indeed, empty, and turned the keys that were oh so conveniently located in the ignition (much to her relief).
The engine roared to life, a sweet sound that filled her ears with it's musical chorus. It might not last if something really wanted to get to her, but it felt a lot safer than jaunting around the pathways by foot.
She closed her eyes, slowly counted to ten, opened them, put the vehicle into drive, and rolled away.

All good things must come to an end, and so is the lesson that Lydia learned that day when a giant, bat like creature swooped in from above, directly towards her SUV.
"OH FOR GOONDESS SAKES!" She cried out, foot pressing harder down on the gas pedal. She was going to attempt to gun it out past.

Apparently that wasn't going to work. Lydia could hear the sound of screeching metal as the creature ran it's claws along the top of her vehicle, and the SUV shuddered.
"Nonononononono..." She mumbled under her breath, the panic in her chest rising.

More screeching overhead, and more screeching of metal. Lydia glanced up to see claws peeking their way through her SUVs rooftop.
She let out a choked sob. Considering all she had been through...she was still not ready to die.

With some incredibly fancy maneuvering and one last gunning of the engine, Lydia's SUV sped off down the trail, somehow managing to shake the bat-creature that had latched itself onto the roof.
She was still crying, but the sobs were interrupted by choked laughter.
Ahead of her was a sign. She had made it.
She continued to cry and laugh all the way to the helipad area.
