It was a night filled with rain. Page Esquiline of Venus was hiding under an awning , running her right hand through her sodden bangs as they clung to the sides of her face. She sighed, shaking her arms to rid herself of stray droplets. Tonight was miserable. Why on earth did she have to be out here? The Negaverse would totally take a day off for the rain right? She shivered, and decided that the doorstep of a closed coffeehouse probably not the best place for her to spend her patrol time.
Sighing, she stepped out into the rain, blowing a raindrop from her eyelash. Crossing her arms over the frilly yellow and orange knight outfit she donned whenever patrolling, she began a fast paced walk through downtown, praying that no youma or negaverse agent would show their face so that she could go home and get into her comfy bed.

Persephone was actually rather enjoying patrolling in the rain. She'd thought to grab an umbrella when she heard the weather report - mostly-white fuku and all - and it meant that all she was experiencing was a little chill and the soft pitter-patter of the rain.
She sensed another Order signature, and she decided to go find them - it would be terrible of her to leave an ally out in the rain, after all! When she spotted the girl in the pretty yellow-and-orange dress, she waved and called out. "Hello? You must be cold!" She said, jogging closer. "Would you like to share an umbrella for a bit?"

Esquiline was so busy fantasizing about her wonderful bed that at first she did not hear the person calling out to her. Nor did she realize that her radar was picking up on the girl's power signature. Only when she was close enough that her footsteps rang clearly did the pink haired girl snap out of her reverie and turn to face the newcomer. She was Order aligned, and had thought to bring an umbrella, something Esquiline was jealous of. Until she offered to share. Then Esquiline was very grateful.
She nodded and ducked under the umbrella's folds, trying to keep her wet fuku from touching the other girl. "Thank you so much." she said, pressing the hair on the top of her head flat. It always had a tendency to frizz when it got wet. "I don't know what I was thinking, coming out here tonight, and without an umbrella of all things!" She grinned lazily, and held out a slightly drier hand.
"My name's Esquiline, Page of Venus. What's yours?"

Persephone lit up when the other girl stepped under her umbrella, shifting it a little so it would cover both of them more efficiently. "I feel like I would have regretted it a lot if I didn't, so," she laughed, glad her own hair wasn't behaving badly. It often did.
"Sailor Persephone, Senshi of Pomegranates." She chirped happily. It was always good to meet someone who might be a friend; she definitely wanted to win this Page over as best she could. Any night she wasn't patrolling entirely alone was a good one in her book.

Esquiline froze in her attempt to fix her hair. "Senshi?" she said, confusion evident in her voice and on her face. What the heck was a senshi? The page looked the other girl over, a quick up and down. She was definitely powered up, and her outfit was only mildly outlandish compared to her own. Was she a powered up version of a knight? Did she possess power, or did she rely on a flimsy weapon like Esquiline?
"Uhm, what exactly is a senshi?" She felt rather silly asking, like maybe she should know what they were, but in all of her limited searching, she had never heard of such a thing.
She dearly hoped that they weren't a type of Negaverse agent.

Persephone frowned a little. This was the second time a Knight had asked her to explain something she didn't really understand herself. Referring to Senshi as "magical girls" seemed inadequate when...well, Knights obviously were too. She tilted her head to the side as she thought it over.
"Well, um, Senshi are...we're fighters for Order, like you guys, but I think we're a little different?" She frowned. "We don't have uhm, items like Knights do. Just magic." She was sure there were other differences, but she wasn't exactly in a position to explain them to someone else.
Six months of senshidom and she was still just as lost as ever on some things.

Magic. They got to use magic? How fair was that? She was stuck with a plastic hair pin, and she got to use magic. Sigh.
"Well good. I was worried I was sharing an umbrella with someone who wouldn't want me to get home." she laughed a little, still envious of her magic use. It must be so much easier to defeat enemies from afar. The two continued their walking, and nothing came to Esquiline's radar. No enemies so far.
"Sooooo what kind of magic do you use?" Pomegranates was her...magic? "Pomegranates is your magic right?" She was at a loss of what her name meant. Venus was a planet that everyone knew, but was Persephone her real name, or another celestial body?

Persephone frowned a little. "I get to use really lame magic," she said. "But yeah, Pomegranates are...it's called my sphere? Senshi are the Senshi of a thing, like um...tigers, or echoes." She named two others she knew. "And our sphere influences the kind of magic we can do. I summon pomegranate seeds. You eat them and get energy. It's nothing really cool."
It was so easy for her to brush it off. She'd rather have something more effective - she clung to the hope that it would get better as she got stronger.

"Lame magic is better than no magic." Esquiline pointed out, focusing on the droplets on the umbrella above to quell her envy. It would do no good to be upset over someone else's situation. She internalized the information about spheres. So instead of wonders, they had power spheres. Did they draw the same power from it? "You summon food? That has to be helpful in a battle, or when your popcorn runs out during a movie." She smiled dryly at the joke.
"My...power I guess comes from Esquiline. It's my wonder." She said, wondering just how much this, senshi was it?, knew about Knights. "I actually was just there. Though it was pretty torn up so I'm not sure what exactly my wonder is."

Persephone nodded. "If my choice is what I've got or nothing...I'll take what I've got," she agreed, a little amused herself. "It's not a lot, just a couple seeds. The boost is kinda nice though."
She frowned a little to hear about this "wonder" Esquiline spoke of. "My...planet was like that. It was all...dead." For a moment, she was back there, but before she could get too lost in memories of dying trees and strange women with rosewood hair, she looked back over at Esquiline. "It's called Persephone; I guess it's where my name comes from."

Man, a whole planet just for you. That sounded a little too large for Esquiline. She was having trouble getting it through her head that there was a hill just for her!
"Do you have any Knights on your planet?" she asked, curious if different places had senshis and knights, or if it was some kind of personal preference. Was space that dangerous that you needed specific people just for landmarks? Imagine if that were true on Earth! There were so many landmarks in the U.S alone that half of the people would be knights!
"I have to admit, I am still pretty new to this." Esquiline said sheepishly. "Before I met you, I thought that there were only Knights and Negaverse agents. I didn't know that we had allies." It made her wonder; were there other allies of Chaos that she didn't know about as well?

Persephone blinked. "I actually don't know. I've only been there once, and I've never met a Knight of Persephone..." God, that would be really weird; what would she even do with a Knight of her planet? Would she be expected to teach or guide them or something?
Whoops, no, too strange of a thought. She could barely teach and guide herself.
"Oh, yeah, there's uh...more than just that." Persephone coughed. "See, there are Chaos Senshi, too. I've um, met a few." Virtus had been nice. The two that attacked her in the park? Not so much.

"Well that fits, because I've never seen a senshi of Venus." Perhaps there was only one or the other. Would she have to listen to a senshi of Venus? Or would she be the leader? Poor pink haired Esquiline hoped that she wouldn't have to lead anytime soon.
"Chaos senshi? You mean, senshi that work for the Negaverse? How on earth could they do that?" She figured that all senshi, just like all Knights, fought for good. But in every spy movie, there was at least one double agent, so it only made sense that there would be at least one chaos senshi.

"I've...actually met two kinds of Chaos Senshi," Persephone said. "Dark Mirrors, and, uhm...something else. She had..holes, in her chest and forehead, it was weird." She gestured to the areas she meant and shivered.
"I've met more of us than I have of them, though..." She nodded firmly. "So I think we have that on our side, at least."

All of this information was making Esquiline want to turn tail and go home. This was all too much for her to take in. Not only were there other factions to consider, there was a chance that she could be corrupted into turning against her own team!
Esquiline shivered. She tried to imagine holes in someones chest and forehead, and didn't like what her mind came up with. How on earth did they live with holes in their heads!? Her heart was starting to beat quickly.
"I hope I never meet one of them." she said seriously, adding a prayer to the end of her sentence. "They sound terrifying."
"Well at least we haven't found anything worth fighting tonight." she said, peeking out from under the umbrella.
