Melvin didn't tread into the Sun department and never had real cause. The only time he ever walked into their end of the world was when he was running errands when fresh out of the pod. It was unsettling to move through hallways were the most muscular and scar-patterned roamed, though far less populated the hallways than any other department. He guessed this was because most were some place sparring and training to becoming stronger. What exactly did Suns do all day? Were there even facilities specific for them?
Not troubling himself to think too much on it (for now), he checked his phone where he wrote down where the designated office of a certain Sun Lead was located, and soon made his way to the door. Making sure he looked presentable (well, more presentable than he already always looked), Melvin went to knock on the door hoping that Allan was in and that he wasn't busy. Previous experience with higher ranking officers in officers tended to be sour memories. He had no idea how well received a Lifer would be in a Sun's officer.

Other than Simon, the Sun office, if it could even be called that, was pretty much unused, unless one included the wardrobe in the back purely used to store all of Allan's cosplay materials.
Melvin would be waiting a rather long time before a rather confused Sun Hunter would stop and stare at him strangely, seeing the Life trainee standing expectantly in front of the door. "You do realize that room is empty right?" She began very slowly, one eyebrow raised,"Simon's at target practice, Allan is doing his you know, his anime thing upstairs." She paused. "Well, technically, I don't mean here upstairs, more like you know, his room. Third floor, open door, you can't miss it."

Melvin was left very confused as to why no one was opening and was debating coming back later when a Sun hunter decided to inform him that the room was empty. He wasn't sure if it meant empty as unused overall or empty as just vacant presently, but he was given a new location. A personal room.
That was a bit weird to say the least, but the fact he was given the room meant people went there, and he could only hope that hunter tended to talk to Allan there for his room number to be common knowledge and openly given out to anyone. It was still bizarre to go to someone's room as he liked the separation from professional and personal talks by separate rooms.
Moving up the stairs, he arrived on the third floor and went to the open door he saw, and just for courtesy, knocked on the door frame as he stepped just a fraction inside to make his presence known. "Excuse me? I was at your office and was told to come here instead." Well, here or he would have gone looking at the training grounds for a impeccable dressed man - which was very, very tempting.

The door opened a small fraction of an inch, revealing a sliver of a red-haired man wearing a bandana over his head with an odd cheap plastic plate, made to look like metal. Engraved on the plate was some sort of swirl symbol.
"To enter the hidden village of ninjas, one must say the hidden ninja password." Allan gave Melvin the mysterious eye, the door still open only a fraction. It was difficult to tell what exactly was happening inside his door room.

Melvin looked at the door as it clicked open and stood tall as to give respect to whatever professional would be answering. What he got was a messy head of hair, a bandana (which had him hopeful the man was just doing some office cleaning), and a plate with a swiggle on it (which pretty much put the cleaning idea out the window). Melvin just stared at the plate a long moment before looking at the man, and then just stood there as he was asked for a password.
Password? Was this 3rd grade? Was he trying to get into a pillow fort?
Melvin gave a small smile and pointed, looking up and down the hallways as he waited for some Suns to come by and start laughing at him. "This is a joke, right?" Play a joke on the random Lifer. He got it. Very cute.
He looked back at the man. "I'm looking for Allan. Can you tell me where his room is?"

Melvin's question was met in response by a huge grin. "There is no Allan-taichou in this room, only the fifth Hokage, master of the light, Nalla! Call my name and I shall appear but only after you say the secret ninja password!"
Yes, he was for real. No, the door was not moving.

Melvin tilted his head, narrowing his eyes at this man. He had only seen Allan once before and that was during the strange 'O' trial. The only reason he noticed him was due to his odd behavior, but not as odd as this.
This had to be the guy, right?
Looking around, he then decide, as ridiculous as it was, that he should give it a shot. Too bad he was more familiar with Sci-Fi than ninjas, and preferred lasers over throwing stars when growing up. "Hidden Tiger. Crouching Dragon." He decided, referring to the title of a popular movie he recalled seeing the trailer for.

Melvin would be treated with a face that seemed to be positively radiating happiness and sparkles. A moment later, the door swung fully open, revealing-
-A very tall red-haired man in an orange jumpsuit and headband giving Melvin a huge bear hug. "Congratulations! You have passed the first test!" Said figure sparkled some more. "How does it feel to be one with the chakra, ninja-kun?"

The hug was NOT invited, and the second he was embraced, he scrambled to push back to get away from it, tense and eyes wide that Allan would even think that was an appropriate thing to do. There was the close touching out of the blue, and also what he was wearing touching him. Jumpsuits to the Lifer were associated with working out, thus sweat, or people who couldn't spend the time to dress in anything that required actual effort. Simple clothes for people who sat on the couch wiping Cheetos dust on their chest, and Melvin did not want that rubbing against him. There was also the matter of Allan's hair, which was at such odd angles that he wondered if he actually cleaned it or just layered whatever product he was using to make it like that. It SEEMED clean though.
Trying to get some space between them and now alerted that this person was the touchy type (which meant he was now on high alert to watch out for sudden hugging), Melvin could only press his lips thin at the congrats. "It feels..confusing." He straightened his jacket as he cleared his throat.
"May I speak with you in private?"

Allan nodded sagely, his train of thought something like "Oh yes, I understand when one has not embraced their inner ninja yet. One day you will be as amazing as your Hokage and take revenge on everyone but I will stop you and show you the way of the ninja light! Peace and love and kokoro and kawaii!"
Thankfully Melvin was spared anything remotely close to the above conversation thanks to his second question. He beamed, giving the Life trainee one more fond pat on the small of his back before opening his door. "Of course, your concerns are mine and I will make sure to be," he lowered his voice to a loud whisper, as if they were playing a game, "super secret."
The room itself was spacious, being of Division Leader quality. Allan and to some degree as resident Sun maid Simon were in renovation at the moment so half the weapons shelves were currently missing some of the more prized Asian-themed spears while his manga collection lay in assorted yet organized piles on the ground. To the left was his prized DDR machine, and the note on the fridge had a terribly drawn picture of what possibly was a face with googly eyes. Allan gestured for Melvin to come in, handing the other a bottle of Ramune from the fridge. "What is of trouble to you, that your sensei can help with?"

A lot of what Allan was saying were terms he wasn't familiar with, and the words he did know were just as confusing. Hokage? Kokoro? Kawaii? Most of them sounded like words a chicken would cluck or names of possible drinks that involved pineapple and a little umbrella. As for ninja, he all but laughed at the idea of him being referred to any ninja potential. What did he look like? He was a tall lank Lifer with goggles, blonde hair, and a sweater. While not clumsy, he was far from stealthy, and stubbed his toe more times than not when stumbling through the dark.
The pat to his back was still unwelcome, and all but jumped at the contact before rubbing his back and walking in. Despite what Melvin considered bored acting, Allan was at least surprisingly open to receive guests from outside his department and without appointment. Taking that as a good sign that he wouldn't have to resort to dancing conversation circles to find out what he needed, he felt relieved and stepped in.
The room was organized despite seeming to be in some process of rearranging, and there was a wild assortment of books that were clearly not research materials due to their vibrant and thing covers. Not able to make much from here, he looked at the weapons with the sort of curiosity and wonder if any of them held any fear properties or were just display. The DDR machine was very strange to see, but everyone was entitled to their pleasantries in their own room. What was important that it was very clean and organized despite some degree of chaos. It was pleasantly refreshing to that the Sun leaders made a good example on cleanliness despite how many Suns he saw in various messy states, either in their own rooms or appearance. Rep's carcass room came to mind along with both Jerry and Ofelia's attire.
"Thank you for keeping this private." He said as he was handed a drink that was unusual in it's shape. He paused for a moment to regard it, couldn't make out the words as it was in another language (Japanese? Chinese? Korean?) and he noticed a little cap on top. Taking it off, he just expected to be able to drink and was then confused when nothing happened. There was no twist top. No instruction he could see. Noticing he had stopped talking, he resumed and tried to put aside the urge to solve what seemed to be a bottle riddle.
"San-say?" He also shook that off. "I know it's probably strange to have a member of Life come to see you, seeing as Moons seem more involved with Sun, but you probably know better than anyone who oversees the Suns. I don't know if you know, but we now have Rep, a previous member of Sun, in the Life department now. I've been around long enough to know of Rep's history with hurting other hunters, whether on purpose or accident. Why wasn't he just podded instead of transferred?"

Having no problem taking off the little plastic stopper and then popping his Ramune bottle with a finger, Allan listened to Melvin rave patiently. He nodded at the right points and paused just at the end.
"Hmmmmmmm," the Sun lead crossed his arms, looking a little more thoughtful "Melvin-kun, what do you think a Hunter represents?"

Melvin glanced over at the bottle being opened and then turned his slightly before looking at the odd cap in his hand. He started to work his own bottle to try and open it.
At the question, he glanced back up again. "Overall? If I'm not mistaken, a hunter is the line of defense against Fear-created forces otherwise unseen and unknown by the general public. They provide protection from Halloween creatures and work to eradicate the threat they present to our way of being." He turned the cap and then heard a loud clack as a glass ball hit the curve inside the Ramune bottle.
Oh. Well that is a rather ingenious way to do that. Though just turning a bottle cap was generally easier in his opinion.

"I see," Allan nodded, while missing a few words in those lines entirely and not exactly the to-go person regarding complex vernacular, the Sun lead was a Division lead by nature and title, understanding very well enough those words. They were almost verbatim the words he was told, and the words he was supposed to tell others.
Supposed to. "This is what Hunters are when others see us," Allan began, slowly chewing out his own thought process, "but this is not how we should see ourselves. I am me, you are you, I am not you but still a Hunter!"
He paused. "That's because a Hunter means so many different things, there is no right answer! Just because you dont understand how someone else thinks does not make them wrong. In fact, wouldn't you think it just makes them very lonely and confused? I would be if I didn't have strong friends, my nakama who I could trust standing next to me. Rep-kun is your friend, your nakama right? Don't you think you should stand next to him and not against in hopes he will do the same as well?"

Melvin's eyes narrowed at Allan. "Rep has enough people by his side, and it's those people he takes advantage of and hurts without concern. When Rep starts making treats on the lives of other hunters, then those people he has on his side get used as a shield to protect him from responsibility and make those "lets just try to understand each other" excuses. Rep has been punished from time to time and transferred to Life, but smacking a dog with a newspaper and not seeing a difference in results proves it's not working. There is a point where understanding a fault in a person stops and making a person work to fix that fault begins. Rep has had his weapon taken away many times, yet he still uses his power and passion off the field on other hunters, and not just in sparring."
He held the Ramune bottle tightly. Friend. Melvin was not Rep's friend.
