Life hadn't been hard for Aventine, just unpleasant. Something about her frequent run-ins with the local denizens of Chaos had put her in a mood. She had mixed feelings about just about everything—on one hand, it wasn't safe to walk home without powering up, but on the other hand, it just sent out a signal that hey, squire here, come and get me—neither of which particularly appealed to Aventine.
There had been a time when she enjoyed patrolling—enjoyed the rush of beating the snot out of youma, of the power boost she got when prancing around in her pretty little outfit…
Now, she was just in a funk.
It could have been worse, though—at least tonight she'd made it out and powered up. Kicking loose stones had been interesting for a short while—until an energy signature flared up nearby. She debated for a short moment on whether she should draw herself to it or just play kick the rock, but Aventine always had a difficult time staying put.
She sucked in a deep breath, brushed herself off, and marched towards the aura.
LP Let me know if this was supposed to be a battle or if I need to tweak anything and I can change it!

Buyan was, well for lack of anything better to do, standing in the middle of a little clearing trying to make it look like she knew how to fight. Though probably for any passerby she just looked dorky. When the other energy signal flared up Buyan looked worried.
Head snapping towards the direction, it wasn't moving towards her at least, it wasn't until a little later. There was a frown as she waited for a moment before deciding to go see what it was. She had a concerned look, right up until she ran into another knightly. "Oh thank goodness... I though you'd be another one of those horrible people."
There was clear relief on her face. Actually, she didn't know why she came out at night expect to maybe... try to help protect the kids from major trouble, but that wasn't working out so well when she couldn't protect herself.Kyuseisha no Hikari No Regular's good. XD She needs those too.

"Horrible people?" Aventine prompted, despite having a fine idea of who this page was referring to. She flashed a smile, relieved herself to have an ally in the area. "What, have those Negaverse guys been giving you a hard time, too?" she prompted; Orpheus had been the start of her trouble, but the Negaverse had been more than the icing on the cake.
A few bad encounters had quickly stacked up, and Aventine realized quickly she'd bitten off more than she could chew. It didn't matter if she'd been a squire; between juggling her life and this life, it was too much.
She couldn’t go out ever night—and didn't know how anyone could; as of late it felt like she was spending more time nursing her injuries than she spent actually doing anything good.

"The Youma, the Negaverse people. A lot of really bad guys." Buyan said with a nod. "Talking Youma that plan to make a meal out of you isn't a very pleasant thought."
She sighed, "It takes a lot out of you though I know that... Running away from all them." She wasn't proud to say she kept having to run away but it was truth. She was lucky to escape the few fights she'd been in.

"Talking youma?" Aventine prompted; she had yet to encounter such a thing, and her stomach sank with the very idea of such. She could handle the youma (sometimes) when they were stupid, boorish beasts. "…Yeah, it sounds rough," she added, not wanting to sound ignorant. She had never met a talking youma, though to be fair most of her nights fighting were spent with lieutenants.
She had little love for them, and despite the strange nightmares youma could bring, she would have preferred them to the Negaverse at this point. Instinctively, she rubbed her hand over her stomach; it was still a bit bruised but she had managed to drag herself out. "I feel like I should take up jogging more often just to make sure I can make my getaways. I've had a few close encounters. It's scary," she finally blurted. "I don't know why anyone would want to do this."

"Yes talking Youma. I don't know he was kinda scary." The woman frowned as she stood there. She nodded, and held out her lyre. "I flossed his teeth I think. He didn't like this."
She nodded, "I haven't had that many close encounters yet, I'm sure I will." She nodded, "I've seen children doing this, I don't even know if their parents know. I don't like it." The Neptune knight wasn't too keen on the kids fighting, "I guess they all do it for the same reason you fight any war. I just wish I knew the whole story behind it because I haven't heard much on the subject."

Aventine nodded sympathetically. "Yeah," she said, clearly remembering the chibi senshi she had encountered. "I can't imagine hiding that sort of thing from my parents as a kid. Now, I mean—now I've got my own place and it still feels like a struggle to keep everyone from knowing. I just can't…who even does that? Kids, fighting?"
Like that wasn't going to encourage them to grow up into degenerates. Or war heroes. Aventine lifted a hand to her mouth and chewed on a nail thoughtfully.
Maybe it was necessary.
Maybe, whatever gave them this power, was so desperate that it would take just about anyone.
"I hope they take care of themselves. I'd be more comfortable with it if there weren't some obvious bad guys out there. Some people who just…didn't care about who they hurt. Plus, ugh." She had goosebumps on her skin and squirmed. "Youma! Like they aren't the stuff of nightmares! Why aren't there news crews and bigfoot researchers parading around Destiny City trying to catch them?"

Buyan listened, "I know, I mean I'm lucky enough not to have any family in town so I don't have to worry about explaining myself. However, I don't really support kids fighting but I also don't want to.... make them feel like they're doing something wrong?" Her brows knitted, "I was a teacher before all this political stuff that's going on started getting the best of me. So like I want to treat the kids as anyone else, but in some cases you just can't."
She tilted her head, there was a small shop not far from here, she was sure it had coffee. "Do you want to get coffee or something?"
She paused, "Kids are smarter than some people give them credit for, but I do hope they don't get into more trouble than they can handle."
There was a shrug before she continued her thought, "I agree they really are like nightmares! I have a feeling though the reason the news and big foot searchers aren't coming out here in groves for it is because the ones that see them either don't last long or are converted to their side but that's just a theory." She shrugged, "I mean news is corrupt anyways I'm sure if you had enough money you can pay them to say anything or not say something. It's like them saying senshi are terrorists. It seems to often be very one sided in most cases when they're reporting. . . and that's on any topic, they want what makes money not what's the truth."

The idea of coffee was just heavenly to the woman, who almost immediately piped up, "I would love to grab some coffee!"
Shortly after she cleared her throat and calmed herself; she had been deeply engrossed in listening to Buyan though she was already starting to feel fatigue creeping in. She was too young for an early bed time though, and coffee was always the best choice.
In an attempt to ensure the woman that she had been paying attention, she added, "I don't spend a lot of time with kids, so I admit that I wouldn't know the difference from a four year old and a ten year old. But it kinda bugs me that they'd be around, dealing with," air quotes, "terrorists. That sorta thing is gonna mess them up. I mean, it'd mess people my age up. Mess me up. And I know how impressionable kids are. I dunno," she sighed, combing her fingers through her hair as she thought. "I just think about how if I was their mom—if they were my little babies running around…I don't even know. But I'd rather know which kids are out so I can keep an eye on them. I'm sure they can take care of themselves but—I mean, I'm in this war and I still don't know everything. And if the media is corrupt—if the Negaverse does have some sort of grip on that…well, that scares me. And it scares me to know that they've got control over something so big. Even if we win this war, or whatever it's called…who knows where an Agent's going to be hiding? I kinda wish they all just stuck out all the time so you knew who to avoid."
Aventine didn't want trouble, most of the time. She wanted to live her life and be happy and healthy. And fall in love and have a bunch of kids. Hunting down Negaverse Agents wasn't high on her list; she only did what she felt she had to.
As long as they didn't bother her, didn't make themselves known to her, didn't attack anyone around her…she didn't much mind. They just needed to stop making trouble and start making sense.

"Great, I think there's a shop down the road a little." She gestured towards a set of lights coming from a shop not horribly far, but far enough.
"Ahah, you'd know the difference by their height." Buyan chortled a little, "But yes, it does bother me they have to deal with terrorists. I'm assuming it had little to do with wanting to be a superhero but sometimes that's what kids dream of."
There was a small sigh. "This is enough to mess anyone up. It doesn't matter the age, the fact it's happening and the fact that we have to fight it -- well I suppose have to isn't the word; since I'm sure we could just stop fighting but then I'd feel guilty over not doing something when I could've."
Buyan paused, "If we win the war? I would hope there wouldn't be any agents left; or Chaos for that matter. That's what we're fighting isn't it? It's not those that are showing up and harming civilians. It's what's inside of them -- I think.... at least they feel different. It's hard to explain, but I don't think they're the ones we have to fight, I think there's something more to it."
As the page walked she noticed the lights getting closer. "I feel like I should paint some of these war scenes. From both side's perspective if I could manage it. Though I don't know how many on their side would be willing."

Buyan had made another good point. This war was enough to affect everyone involved—in one way or the other. She had noticed it in herself, even. Little things. Looking over her shoulder when she was walking home alone, being more aware of what she was doing in her daily life. Checking up on friends more frequently.
Well. What friends she hadn't lost by blowing them off in favor of powering up.
She wanted to tell them. The secrecy was enough to mess anyone up.
"Oh, you paint?" she asked, eyes skimming the horizon as they neared the lights. She knew that this outfit prevented most people from recognizing her, but a part of her was still a bit uncertain about being powered up while around normal civilians.
"I think that could be neat. Painting the different perspectives. I don’t have any artistic talent or, like, any idea of what perspectives…are. When I think of the war, I just think of…"
She pondered for a brief moment and then shrugged. "I don't know, youma. And a bunch of misguided teenagers just doing something to try and fit in, I guess."

"I do, I was an art teacher until I got tired of the system. They kept putting unnecessary guidelines and expectations for grading. Honestly, you can't grade art the way you do a paper or a math assignment."
She paused, "It's about the effort and time, but it's about more than that. It's about subject matter and what's important to you. If you really believe in what you're doing, then it's worth doing. However, if you're forced into a box and to judge people based on what the box tells you. . . how do you know what's real?"
She tilted her head as she paused, "Sooooo. . . do you normally power down before heading around civilians?" The page of Neptune asked somewhat unfamiliar with the courtesies of being a super hero.
"Also you don't have to be a talented artist to create art. You can develop a style over time, what's important is that you find something that moves you. I mean look at Pollock and Van Gogh, or cubism. There's entire movements out there that doesn't always call for traditionalism and what people think of as artistic talent."
There was a pause, "Surely there's a hidden perspective there somewhere. Why are they trying to fit in? What's misguided them? Are both sides misguided? In a way sometimes it's just like researching for a paper. In others . . . well it's a lot more fun. Yet you still have to do your homework."

Aventine seemed thoughtful and then flashed a quick smile. "You seem really passionate about art. That's really neat. I bet your students were really lucky to have you. Anyway, I think…I think you power down. I would, just to be on the safe side. I mean, if one of the bad guys saw us interacting with civilians, I'd be worried that they would become their next targets or something. And I mean—I can power up whenever I need to, but I'd…I'd feel just awful if something happened and someone got hurt because of me because I wasn't careful. Even if it is just a stranger."
She sighed, combing her fingers through her hair. "This superhero business is draining, always gotta be so cautious about everything. As if actually fighting evil wasn't draining enough, you gotta worry about everything. I have no idea how people do it," she sighed; she still hadn't figured out what sort of balance she needed to keep doing this and keep happy.

Kyuseisha no Hikari OMG this is soo old ;~; I hope you don't mind finishing it with me. Buyan smiled, "Ahh it's a nice to have something to distract you so my passion about art helps." She nodded as they continued, and listening to Aventine's explanation Buyan decided to see if she could tell if there were any actual Chaotic aura's around and then powered down. "The Coffee shop's not too far, I think we should probably go ahead so we don't draw youma or something."
The ex-teacher stood there with a smile, "Yeah I could figure it seems draining, I didn't quit my job for this but I did figure that it wouldn't hurt to have it as a uh. . . ." She paused hobby wasn't the right word, "Extra side project? I don't know, I've been trying to write books and what not as well to see if it'll sell and maybe I can make a living off of that. Writing novels by daylight and fighting evil by moonlight. It sounds a little romanticized don't you think?"

When Buyan powered down, Aventine felt safe enough to do the same; she smoothed out her clothes and looked around, as if to double check that no one had seen. "Oh, I think it sounds wonderful! I'd bet that living this dual life could give you some pretty interesting inspiration! Oh, and maybe they could make your books into movies! Oh, I'd watch them," she said, almost seeming starry-eyed.
"If you get anything published, you have to tell me! I like romance stories," she laughed, fixing her hair up while they walked. "But it would be nice to know someone who was so talented! You'll have to tell me all about what you write and how that goes, okay?"
LP It is okay! We can wrap it up soon if you like! <3
